An ex-CIA operative. A top-secret mission. Danger that lurks at every turn.
Raven Remington is facing her most challenging mission: protecting the man who may have killed her sister. The former spy is still trying to integrate into life as a civilian and figure out whom to trust. With each passing day, the task becomes more difficult.
Can Raven figure out who is trying to assassinate the man—the senator—she’s been tasked to protect . . . or will surprises hidden just below the surface destroy life as she knows it?
*Relentless is based on the fictional TV show starring Hollywood starlet Joey Darling from The Worst Detective Ever mystery series.
Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.
What a surprise!! I have been reading all of the Joey Darling's Worst Detective Ever series by Christy Barritt. Joey has mentioned that she is an actor on the Raven Remington series and keeps referring to how Raven would do a certain detective skills in a harrowing situation. But Barritt had never wrote a Raven Remington story until now. I didn't see this coming, but it was a nice surprise. When you read this novella, remember it takes place in an hour on television, so the plot does keep moving at a quick pace. At every commercial break, which is what Barritt titles the chapter and I thought pretty clever, the previous chapter leaves a cliff hanger, begging me to continue reading. I read the story in a little over an hour. It moves quickly. Raven Remington is definitely a solid, determined character out to protect the senator while hunting for clues to her sister's murderer. Joey Darling must be a fabulous actress because Joey isn't as sure of her steps as Raven is. Totally different characters. I enjoyed this little surprise novella from Barritt, and I wonder if she'll be writing anymore Raven's stories because now I want to know what happened to Raven's sister. I really enjoyed how her thank you were in the forms of the credits at the end of a movie or a television show. Highly recommend to fans of Barritt's Worst Detective Ever series or anything she has written. Who knew Barritt could pack so much mystery in such a tiny book?
I received a complimentary copy of Relentless by Christy Barritt, but the opinions stated are all my own.
Someone get Christy Barritt this TV series deal now! Fans of The Worst Detective Ever series get a treat that includes a peek into the character Joey Darling plays on television in Relentless. When Raven Remington is assigned a case with personal ties, the stakes rise. With twists I didn’t see coming, lots of action, and a couple of guys-with-potential (funny how this mirrors Joey’s real life), Relentless is a page-turner. And much like today’s shows, one story thread was solved while more than one were left dangling. It works because I’ll keep reading these stories in order to discover the truth.

Relentless (Raven Remington is by Christy Barritt. Relentless is a great read. It has lots of action, suspense and danger all around. Another great book by Christy Barritt.
It was so great to get a peek at an episode of Joey Darling's (from the Worst Detective Ever series) hit TV show Relentless and to see her character Raven Remington in action. Raven is awesome. She's strong and fierce, a force to be reckoned with. I can totally understand why she has such a passionate fan base.
This novella was full of suspense and had me turning the pages as fast as I could. While I was reading, it really felt like I was watching an actual TV show. If this were a show that was on TV right now, I would totally watch it. I'm really hoping there are more episodes to come! And even if you haven't read the Worst Detective Ever series, yet, Relentless can definitely still be enjoyed. Highly recommend!
I received a copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and comments are my honest opinion.
Hmmm 🤔 As a book it's a good read with the characters based on Raven Remington (which is played by Joey Darling from Christy Barritt's hilarious series 'The worst detective Ever ' ) 😂 but it was interesting how it was set up as a tv show. And sadly ended leaving me bereft and wanting more! I have so many questions and need to know how it will all end. But This did not detract from it's entertainment value. I was thouroghly intrigued and would love to see this on an actual tv screen! If only there was a real Joey darling to play her 😂 I know I'm a kook but one that loves these books and is looking forward to the next episode! Until then peace, love and happy reading y'all!
I have read all of Christy Barritt's "The Worst Detective Ever" Series, so this was a fun read! The main character in the Worst Detective books is Joey Darling, an actress who played Raven Remington in a much-loved TV series, and often gets caught up in mysteries to solve while she is living and working in the Outer Banks of NC. "Relentless" is an episode of the TV show Joey starred in, so it was fun to get to know her TV character too. You do not have to read the Worst Detective Series first, but it probably helps to understand the premise. I loved this introductory mystery novel and hope there will be lots more to come! I received a free digital copy of this book from the author.
Relentless is one action-packed novella! A quick and exciting read that will leave readers gasping and wondering if their own instincts have derailed a little.
Readers of The Worst Detective Ever Series will know that heroine Joey Darling is an actress who played the character Raven Remington on a show with the same name as the title of this book. Written as if it were an episode of Relentless, Christy Barritt takes her readers on a hair-raising ride that will leave you wanting more!
(I received a copy of this book from the author. All opinions are entirely my own.)
I wanted to like this more than I did. After devouring 6 books in The Worst Detective series, it was only natural to read this Relentless novella. While it had potential to be entertaining, I found it to be uneven and clunky. There were also a lot of “commercial breaks” for what is supposed to be a TV show. I also found parts of the novella not to ring authentic as I was trying to picture a TV show in my mind. I felt like some of the thoughts and actions didn’t mirror that. With that said, I love the Joey Darling series as she channels her inner Raven...just didn’t care for this version of Raven.
Now I know why Joey Darling has such super fans of her Relentless Raven Remington character! Enjoy this novella treat from Christy Barritt which goes to the scenes of the hit Relentless show and learn the differences between fictional Raven and actress Joey. I'd watch this show on TV reruns or the (fictional) Netflix reboot! Here's hoping for more written installments of the series in the future.
I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my own opinion.
This novella is a spin-off of The Worst Detective Ever series. Fans of the series get a enjoy an episode of Relentless in which Joey Darling plays Raven Remington, a spy of sorts.
Raven Remington is assigned to the protection of a senator, one she does not like and who had ties to her deceased sister. However, Raven is a professional through and through and she intends to perform her masterfully perform her duties. Can she keep the senator alive and find out who is behind the threats to his life?
I was excited to get to read an episode of Joey Darling's show Relentless after being ducked into the adventures of her real life in "The Worst Detective Ever" series. It was fun to get a glimpse of her alter ego/TV character.
The story was intriguing and I was curious to find out who was behind the threats to both Senator Haskins and Raven Remington. I also now want to know if Ravens sister's death was really an accident. I really did feel like I was watching an action-packed TV series. I would definitely watch the show if it existed!
It was fun to read an episode of Relentless and meet Raven Remington, the main character Joey Darling plays on the TV show. I love the Worst Detective series and it does help to understand more about the character Joey talks about trying to emulate in real life. Joey Darling is a favorite of mine. Although this type of book is out of my interests I think reading this episode will make the Worst Detective series books even more fun to read and help understand Joey’s character even more. I was gifted this book by Barritt. These words are my own.
What a treat! I love the Worst Detective series so I was thrilled to get to know Joey's alter ego a little better. This book stands alone, no need to have read the other series, but it does add to the enjoyment if you have. This definitely has the feel of a detective show. Some of the twists are completely out of nowhere and are a bit confusing. But it is still enjoyable. I would read more if Barritt writes them. Warning, this is a short book, but it is even shorter than it appears because the last 20% is summaries of her other books.
Relentless starring Joey Darling as Raven Remington. Get a glimpse of Joey's life on the big screen. Fast paced suspense with plot twists you probably won't see coming! Raven is desperate to find the answers behind her sister's death, and is willing to take great risks to get them. But, will she go too far?
This was such a fun read to see a different side of Joey Darling from The Worst Detective Ever series.
What a shock and surprise. This was just as good as The Worst Detective Ever Mystery Series. I understand why people get Joey(the actress) mixed up with Raven Remington. Very neat to learn about the back story to the story(Raven Remington tv shows) that are referenced in TWDEMS! Fantastic story line which wrapped up in this story, but gave you just enough information on Raven to leave you begging for the next episode. Well done Christy!
I've really enjoyed The Worst Detective Ever series by Christy Barritt, and was excited to see this new novel that connects the two series (this one is an episode of the TV show the main character in the other series played). It was really well written, and I loved that it kept me on my toes. There were several surprises, and although I would have loved for complete resolution, it ended in a good spot for another novel.
*I received a complimentary copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
Barritt is never afraid to commit when it comes to her characters or stories. Alter ego Raven Remington leapt off the page and the story line was non stop action! I was starting to miss all that naughty in Joey Darling's nice, so this was a refreshing throwback to the author's earlier works with a dash more danger. Her typically slow moving romance added that dash of "I can't wait to see where this goes." I hope there's more Raven in our futures!
When reading a book I like to figure out what the author is trying to do or say. Since this was a sub book to her worst ever detective. I was curious to see if she could convince me about Raven. Mission accomplished. She threw an unexpected curve ball and I loved that. I am hooked. Waiting expectantly for the next installment. Good job Christy Barritt
Another great series from Christy Barritt, set in the world of her Worst Detective Ever series and featuring the fictional TV detective portrayed by that series' Joey Darling. The novella reminds me a bit of both Remington Steele and Alias and features characters I would definitely watch if it were a real TV program.
But not exactly what I enjoy most of the time. It sort of left me wanting another few chapters for a more decisive conclusion. Is there a sequel? Would be nice.
But not the sort of thing I really enjoy. Too much like a tv series and I need to see the next installment. Is there a sequel?
This series is written as good as the numbered series with Stephanie by Janet Evanavitch!!! Not as funny but Raven gets in about as much trouble. My new best reads. I love all the girl crime fighters. The next adventure awaits. Thanks so much Christy. Good job.
Apparently I jumped into the deep end of the pool. I didn't get the format. Episodes, commercial breaks, characters I didn't know, etc. The storyline was fast paced and interesting--i read it in one afternoon with several long interruptions. I'll reserve my opinion to see what I think of the next installment.
A good companion to the Worst Detective Ever series
Quick read that makes more sense if you've read the first book in the Worst Detective Ever series or know the series is being made into a tv series. Kept me guessing. Lots of action. Likeable characters with a hint at a couple of romantic interests. Clean. Suitable for any age.
"Relentless" by Christy Barritt was a great read! This book was written a little differently than her other books, but I liked it. It was a very quick read with a few twists thrown in. Although it did end on a cliffhanger, so I'm hoping there is another book in the works to solve it! I highly recommend this book if you enjoy good, clean romantic suspense novels.
Relentless has the makings of a good novel. However, the book concludes rather abruptly leaving the reader desiring more and a suitable conclusion. I was looking for some kind of resolution as well.
After reading "The Worst Detective Ever" series by Christy Barritt, I was disappointed to read about Raven Remington's television series. Just didn't seem like a show that everyone would be raving about.
It ended without solving anything. Is this part of an extended series! I do understand it was written like a tv show but bought it would wrap up. I’ll have to look for the next book
This lady has such a great talent for writing wonderful mysteries. GOD has truly blessed us with such a talented writer. This book took me a while to get just to. I kept forgetting that this is about a TV show. Goodness gracious I hope there is another books
I've been enjoying the Worst Detective Ever series with Joey Darling and this book is an episode of Joey's TV series Relentless and it was very good! I can't wait for the next one!
