Well I've already finished the book and absolutely loved it. It's one of the sweetest love stories I have ever read. The way Alisa grew to love and trust Douglas was inspiring. Also, I loved the way this big hunk of a man was affected by this demure but strong as an ox of a woman. It was admirable and inspiring how they drew strength from each other. Needless to say, I loved the book and highly recommend reading it. Thank you for sharing it.

THIS is an Excellent read. You're swept away to the Highlands! The story is so well written that you can see and feel them in your minds eye. I'd recommend it to ALL my fellow Outlanders.
Spoiler Alert, there's a question mark at the end.... Part II perhaps!? I HOPE SO!!! If ya ain't got it, GET THIS BOOK!

If you love stories of the Scottish Highlands, add this book to your list. It moves along easily, and describes life and attitudes in historical Scotland. I love the character, Douglas, as a handsome, rugged Highlander who experiences “love-at-first-sight. His adoration of Ailsa is swoon-worthy.

Rescuing The Highlander by Alisa Adams
I loved the exciting plots and the different characters right out the gate. But, soon the characters started having un-normally huge personality changes such as the big strong Laird Warrior turned from a respectable leader into a in love at first sight, insecure, silly adolescence! He was crass with some of beautiful potential wives with their fathers then sees her and professed his undying love to her right then and there and were instantly married never having a real conversation between them. Then after the second day he went off to battle and was captured. It was written he was day dreaming about her wondered what she was doin right now, maybe reading a book or drawing because she was so good at it, however, they never had any conversations to know anything about each other. The dialogue was all over the place not making sense for the timelines that were drawn or, for the characters. I struggled with this book and writing this review, but felt I needed to complete my promise of reading and giving an honest review. This book received a lot of 4-5 stars so I’m very confused of why the huge difference in what they read and what I read.

Very disappointed in this Highland love story due to inaccuracies. Highlander lairds did NOT have bachelor parties, and most certainly NOT with naked wrestling. Nakedness in public was against the social norms of the times. Also, due to the harsh winters in Scotland, it would be extremely unlikely for men to sleep in the nude, unless they happened to fall asleep that way after lovemaking. Also, his brother and his girlfriend would never have been allowed to meet together alone before marriage, being he was upper class and she was a virgin in the working class. It would destroy her reputation by the norms of their society at that time. There were several other less glaring inaccuracies. I realize that, according to the internet, this would have been one of her first books. But she needed to do her homework on what were the acceptable norms and actions of the society she was writing about. Because this book doesn't belong in the historical fiction classification. Since I read an average of 2 books per week all the time, I have read several of her other, more recent, works. Her writing has improved as time went on

I really enjoyed Rescuing the Highlander. Lord Douglas and his brothers have been mourning the death of their brother. He was killed by the English in a brutal manner. Douglas is finding relief from the grief only in drinking himself drunk. His brothers decide he needs a wife. Douglas is not interested in any woman until he meets Ailsa. She is from a poor family and has to marry for her family. Douglas is immediately smitten but Ailsa is frightened of him initially. Douglas is a big man and Ailsa is young and innocent.

After they are married, Douglas shows great patience with Ailsa because he wants her to love him. When he engages in a battle, Ailsa realizes she does have tender feelings for Douglas that have turned into love. When Douglas is captured by the English, Ailsa assists in rescuing him. But the threat to their castle comes to them. Douglas is plagued by war and the hurt is causes. His love for Ailsa helps him cope with the pain of loss and the cost of war. As their loves grows Ailsa longs for a family, things she thought she would never want, but love changes us.

Rescuing The Highlander another winner by Alis Adams. One of my favorite authors. The love of Douglas and Ailsa. Douglas has many women wanting to marry him but he is deep in his grief for his younger brother and his mother. Claim was murdered and his body was placed on display for all to see by the English officers who killed him because he was Douglas's youngest brother. When Ailsa comes to be presented as a perspective bride for him he immediately fell in love with her. They have a few trials to overcome but you must read this book for yourself to enjoy the ending. I do not ever reveal the end in my reviews so the reader must read it to know how this ends. HAPPY READING!!!!

A novel about the English wanting to take over the Castle that Douglas and his brothers live in that is in Scotland. Douglas leads the charge after his tenants homes are burned by the English. Before this happens, he meets a plain girl from the area and falls in love with her. They marry and then the English and Scots fight again and Douglas is captured. His wife with his brothers go in the dark of the night and she helps get the prisoners free including her husband.
English surround the Castle but Douglas sends his friend for reinforcements and naturally they win.
There is a spy in the story, an evil woman, a bairn is born, love ensures for one of his brothers and all ends well.

Oh Yes Another Wonderful Story!!

What a wonderful exciting story. So good. And so much was going on. Naturally my favorite parts were the deaths of a couple of people who shall stay nameless. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. I so loved almost all of the characters and I absolutely loved the storyline so much. Alisa always comes through with such excellent storytelling. There were some editing issues but that didn’t detract from the story. Ailsa, Douglas, Robert, Bruce and Adamina were excellent characters. Callum had a sad ending to his life. That made me tear up. Another Callum to carry on his uncle’s story. On to my next one. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

I got this book for free during the early part of the Covid19 quarantine. I already had several books in my TBR pile, but did want to read it soon. Life happens, and as I had family in the med profession, making masks became my priority. I finally got to read the book today, and I loved it! It was a quick, sweet love story for anyone who loves reading about Scottish Highlanders. I look forward to getting into more books from this author.

This is one or two of the most beautiful love stories I've ever read. And I meant two because there are actually two love stories told in this book.
Its the first time I read about such a determined young woman. She is fearless when faced with adversity which is such a contrast to so many of the modern day heroines who cower away when faced with some of life's horrible things.
Well done Alissa.
I absolutely loved this book

She's young and scared but her father has lost his fortune when the English took over Perth. He knows that he has to guarantee that his daughter is taken care of.

He's a Laird that feels like love isn't in the cards for him. His youngest brother was killed by the English just because he's Scottish!

Read this story to find out how it all turns out, the twists that unravel.

Thanks to the author for the free copy of this ebook.

The twist on the usual Scottish romance story was that Douglas falls instantly in love with Ailsa while it takes time for her to come around.

Good characters, story.
quick, easy read.

I've read previous books by this writer and will continue to do so.

Oh my! I loved this love story Between Ailisia and Douglas. So many twists and turns happened. Ailisia was a wonderful caring person and complemented her husband wonderfully. Capture, fighting a siege and birthing of a babe were all included in this story. Definitely a must read for any Highlander lovers.

This was a wonderful story of a brawny highland laird and his frightened young wife. He loves her at first sight, it takes time for her to warm up. Amongst war, treachery and a second love story within will keep you wanting to keep reading this story.

I just finished this book in two settings. The historical aspects we're amazing. The characters had depth. The problems they faced made you feel personally for them. You laughed, sighed, and was scared at times. I whole heartedly give it 5 stars and recommend. She's an amazing writer.

Douglas wasn't looking for a lass to marry until he meet Ailsa. Then he knew of love at first sight. When the English invade the country side Douglas will do anything to protect the castle, his family and the woman that he loves. But first he has to find the spy in his midst.

I really enjoyed this book. I usually only read time traveler romance but thought I would give this one a chance. It was refreshing to read a book that did not have to use curse words or x rated terminology to get the point across. A good romance with hunky Scotsmen what more could you ask for.
