It is undoubtedly a mandatory book for Front-End Developers and Designers.
As a small fault, it has some self references not always necessary.
The approach in the Front-End's Design System construction is one of the greatest contributions of the book, due to the practical approach, but I feel that it fell a little short in the development of the style guides that designers should build.
As I said before, it is a must-read for any designer and developer of digital user experiences.

Overall, this is a useful book to read, written by practitioners. On the other hand, it is less of a cohesive book with an higher structure or narrative, and more like a collection of medium articles on different topics under the umbrella of design systems.

This book contains all of the aspects that are important in matters of the creation and upkeep of a design system. Taking an approach from both design and front-end development, helps to build a common ground where these sorts of “living design systems” can be implemented efficiently.

The book's emphasis on streamlined processes, cross-functional collaboration, Scalability and Adaptability, and user-centric design. such principles are axiomatic in my field (As an industrial and management engineer), so I didn't learn something new. However, they remain crucial and invaluable, especially for designers and developers teams. For that, I highly recommend reading the book, it is an excellent and easy-to-understand introduction to design systems.

Very-very short book ( that's why it called handbook) about design system. The sources of how to create great design system are from AirBnb, Shopify and Invision. This book also has lot of other link for your references. Very suitable for junior UX designer and front end developers.

BTW this book is FREE.

A lot has been said already about design systems, but not a lot books exist out there yet. This is an online handbook that can also be downloaded as an ebook that is probably the place to go if you want to have a representative overview of the current state with a lot of examples, and linked resources on the topic.

For me, this little book is a must for all the designer and developer teams, it is like a very well structured guide and also has a lot of util reference for a future consults, I think I'll gonna need to go back a couple of times in order to re-understand some things. By the way, this book is totally free!

Great introduction to the topic, and lots of great links and references for further deep dives.
The navigability is poor -- the beautiful zine-like layout sees two page splash quotes intermingling with nuggets of content. Great for coffee table browsing or end-to-end indulgence, difficult to use as a reference.

Good primer but technologically dated. I felt this the most on the last chapter or whenever tooling came up (Figma wasn't really used at the time of publishing). Still a lot of good pointers on the history and application of design systems. Also enjoyed the parts on securing buy in and some of the recommended reading.

This handbook has a few good references but feels more like a manual to use a software they sell. It is hardly about product design and more about web design.
