Rate this book
An alpha wolf sizzling with storm power. An invisible witch. An evil wizard who wants them both dead.

The air felt wrong, like a thousand tiny needles pressing into the flesh of Alex Warren’s arms and shoulders.
He sat in his Border Patrol SUV in front of the Savage Territory station. His shift was over for the night, but he wasn’t ready to head in just yet.
Something was going down. He just didn’t know what…

~ EMERALD FLAME, A Paranormal Romance

A witch scarred him…

Warren couldn’t trust witches. One had tried to kill him with her poisoned spell.

Though he survived, he was left badly disfigured and blind in one eye.

When Kiara, a beautiful witch, begins to heal him, he finds himself craving her. But his prejudice against her kind runs deep.

As an evil wizard attacks Savage Territory, can Warren set aside his prejudice, or will he lose his pack, and his territory, forever?

Wolves hate the secretive nature of Elegance Territory…

Kiara never meant to fall for a wolf.

But from the moment she met Warren, her heart beat only for him.

She also knew he could never go for her. A witch had almost killed him once.

When a vile wizard makes a play for Savage Territory, and Warren needs her help, their relationship climbs to dizzying heights.

Yet the scars he bears tells her she can only be a passing flame.

Can she protect her heart? Or will the passionate affair leave her forever desolate?

I confess I've had a love affaire with vampires for several years now, especially warrior vampires, the kind found in the books of Sherrilyn Kenyon, Lara Adrian and JR Ward. Though I've been published in Regency Romance under the pseudonym Valerie King--and yes one of my Regency Novellas features a vampire--one day I woke up knowing I had to create my own contemporary world of the warrior vampire.

For some mystical, magical reason, early in the process, my vampires appeared with enormous beautiful wings and it has been the most amazing experience to include flight in my novels, in both battle scenes and scenes involving spectacle. My special vampire world, published by St. Martin's Press, is introduced in the first book called, ASCENSION (12-28-2010). The second book, BURNING SKIES (May of 2011), opens up the world a little bit more. And even as I write this, I'm on the final draft of my third novel, WINGS OF FIRE (September of 2011). What a thrill it has been to live with my ascended vampires through the creation of this extraordinary, multi-dimensional world!

For more information about my unique take on the vampire mythos, check out my website at carisroane.com and my book release video on YouTube by putting in the search phrase, Caris Roane Ascension.

With every hope you'll enjoy reading my books set in the World of Ascension, All my best, Caris Roane

Another adventure into Five Bridges and the alter state citizens. Warren an alpha wolf is attracted to witch Kiara but struggles with their alter compatibility. With the villain Julio aided by a dark warlock; Warren and Kiara must fight for their lives and the freedom of their pack. Fergus and Mary from a previous Flame installment also help fight this evil. "A copy of this book was provided by Caris Roane with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion." Excellent series of paranormal romance.

Thoughts: OMG that was awesome! I absolutely LOVE this world Ms. Roane has created. The characters are never less than amazing, even the bad guys lol. I can’t help but get sucked into the story, hating to step away for even a moment. Yes, some things are predictable, like the HEA, but it’s the journey to get there that has so many twists and turns to keep it unpredictable. I don’t know how many times I had to take deep breathes to slow my heart rate down. Very intense situations along with panty-melting scenes, how can you go wrong? An exciting adventure that left me with a book hangover.

Alex Warren, a powerful alpha wolf, hates witches. One tried to kill him with a poisoned spell. When Kiara, an alter witch, begins working to help him and other wolves in the Savage Territory, he's impressed with her compassion and caring. Can he put aside his feelings and trust their newly formed bond? I loved watching the relationship develop between these two. Kiara is so giving. She understands their pain and suffering. I liked how she uses her powers to protect and save others. She has endured so much, but it hasn't stopped her. I admired that. Warren always puts his pack first and works hard to protect those who need help. The world of Five Bridges and the Savage Territory makes a powerful setting for this suspenseful story. The Flame series by Caris Roane is a keeper. The characters are well written and the plot is filled with unexpected twists. Emerald Flame is a great addition to this series.

Kindly provided with an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review.....

What is not to get excited about with a hunk of shape shifting Alpha wolf?.
This was Alex and Keira's story. Alex is said hunk of wolf and Keira is our leading lady who happens to be a witch. Witches are above all supes that Alex hates but can the caring and beautiful Keira cast her spell on Alex ?.

The story line as always with Caris's books is smashed with twist and turns !. Its a heart racer that's for sure !!. I cannot praise Caris enough for her imagination and her amazing ability to bring these characters to life. You literally feel emerged in the world of the supernatural (if only).

From page 1 to the end its s thrilling roller coaster of thrills and emotions. This is book 6 in the series and I would highly recommend reading the other books - they are spectacular.

Many thanks Caris for the opportunity.

Later peeps xx

I always have an exciting time when I visit Five Bridges and the wonderful characters that reside there and Emerald Flame is no exception, in fact I would go so far as to say that it just may be my favorite book so far. Kiara and Warren captures my attention with their sizzling attraction, tempestuous emotions and the thrilling danger that the couple finds themselves facing.

As always Caris Roane brings her characters to bright, vivid like that makes it easy for the readers to get to know them and in this case to empathize with their emotional worries which make the couple vulnerable. The romance is a bit rocky while the passions sizzles with vibrant intensity between them and their enemy keeps them hopping with some thrilling action and suspense while the couple fight to stay alive and enact daring rescues that really get the adrenaline pumping. The alter side of this world adds such thrilling spice to the characters that readers can only guess at what might happen next not only in the action of the story, but the romance as well.

Warren and Kiara’s electrifying chemistry leaps off the pages and the readers become engrossed in the story right off the bat as the couple ponder their situation (sorry no spoilers) and the story just keeps getting better as the suspense builds and thrills keep coming ensuring that readers keep turning the pages.

I was completely wowed by Warren and Kiara’s story and I will be waiting impatiently until I can visit the Five Bridges world again.

(Disclaimer: I was provided a copy of the book, Emerald Flame, and decided to read it and provide my honest review, which I have.) Emerald Flame’s foundation is consistent with all of the other books in the Flame series. What makes each book different is the story to be told. The further one gets along in the series understanding the foundation or the basic underpinnings means there is no need for preambles, meaning moving from one book to another becomes seamless. To the reader, the drug “emerald flame” and the nature of its significance to five bridges, its neighborhoods, and the residing individuals are at the forefront of every book. In this case, the two communities highlighted are Savage, where the shifters reside, and Elegance where the witches reside. The story of the Emerald Flame is unremarkable in and of itself. Good triumphs over evil. Good guys defeat the bad guys. But in the Flame series, this cannot be done single handed. What I like in particular about this book is that the author integrated the characters from the earlier book. And when I say integrated, they played important roles just as the main characters and shared just as much dialogue. I truly enjoyed this because the main individual from the previous story adds quite a bit of humor to the series storyline. The two main characters were just that - leading the way through the crisis with some romance on the side. Quite a good balance of romance on the side. RECOMMENDATION: All in all I give the book “Emerald Flame” 4 Stars. A good relaxing book of Paranormal Adventure and Romance. -Tex.

This one was very much like the last one, A Wolf's Love. Warren is an injured wolf who doesn’t trust witches and yet falls for one. I could have really used more character development. There was so much great potential for emotional tension, strife, and having to overcome trust issues. They would have a moment of strong 'can’t trust her or her motives' but in the next breath he is trusting her with his life or kissing her. There was no drawn out, slow build-up to trust. I needed more development between the characters; their relationship could have moved slowly and through fighting the villain learned to trust the other or even moments when they could possibly go their separate ways because of insensitive comments or doubts to then come back together. It was rushed, 'will he, won’t he?' Will she leave, should she leave, etc.

I did enjoy their story beyond the desire for more character development. The villain and conflict was strong and it was an easy read. I do enjoy Caris Roane's take on paranormal romance and this story was entertaining and enjoyable.  My personal complaint is just me being nit-picky about what I want in characters.  The story was overall good and I look forward to more from the Flame universe.A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. Just when I think I couldn't love this author's books any more, she releases a new one, and wow! This new addition to the Flame series features Warren, an alter wolf who is a border patrol officer and alpha of the Caldion pack. For the past few weeks he has had an invisible and puzzling shadow. Kiara Flemming is a powerful alter witch who was kidnapped and almost killed by a dark witch in a prior book. Now she's sticking close to Warren, sensing his survival and the future of Five Bridges depends on it. She knows he was attacked and almost killed by a dark witch when he first arrived in the alter ghetto outside Phoenix, but there are things about the attack he has never told anyone, things that prevent his ever again fully trusting a witch. So they strike a bargain, one they believe will allow them to protect each other and Savage Territory from a growing threat from an evil, but elusive enemy, one so powerful that individually they don't stand a chance against him. And even together, their chances are slim.

Kiara is an alter witch and rescues hurt wolves and helps them. Warren is alpha and a Border patrol officer. Something evil is trying to take over Savage, the wolves territory. Warren doesn’t trust witches because one scarred his face and blinded one of his eyes. They must work together to stop the takeover. The closer they get, the more they start taking on each other’s powers and the harder they fall for each other. A ghost keeps visiting Kiara and tells her in order to save Warren she must leave him.
Exciting, sex, wolves, witches, and a little bloody. I love this series and can’t wait for the next one. Ms. Roane always leaves you wanting more.

I really am enjoying this series from this author. It is different and refreshing and enjoy diving into each one that comes out when I see them. This one centers around Warren and Kiara. A mystery of sorts begins for Warren which picks our curiosity. The one who he should trust he can't which gets in the way for wonderful. This though will be the beginning of us and them with us getting all caught up in them both. This is filled with plenty of suspense and romance those being elements I crave in a story. It keeps you on your toes as the drama creeps it way in. You stick with this because you want to see where this author takes us all.

This book was so refreshing from others in this series. Not that others were bad, just this time there was no intense feelings against the hero and the heroine. It was still a bit of denial, but more without the "hate" sex.

Kiara and Warren truly seem perfect for one another. Honestly though, I love that it took both of them to heal each other. Their scars, mainly their internal scars, are the deepest. Yet together they both become whole.

Another great story in the "Flame Series"!

This story was very exciting to read! It’s well written and Caris has done an amazing job describing the world of Five Bridges and the characters.

An Alfa Wolf and a Witch team together to fight off an Evil Wolf and very powerful Evil Warlock. So much is different in their worlds that the last thing they expected was to find love, and yet they’re connection brings them closer and they’re powers start to merge. Can they beat the odds stacked up against them.

I have been reading the Flame series ever since it came out. I believe this is one of the best ones yet. I loved how Warren and Kiara were both scarred by witches even though Kiara is a witch. I loved how they interacted in protecting each other. And with Kiara running a sanctuary that no one except one person knew about it and Warren wasn't one of them which as a wolf he has a hard time accepting not having that knowledge. I just thoroughly enjoyed reading this and am looking forward to the next one to see who's story it's going to be.

Warren & Kiara's Story. 🔥🔥🔥

Ms Roane has once again offered up another wonderful, action galore packed trip into the lives of the Alter Warrior's who live in the community of Five Bridges.
Filled with sizzling sensuality, heart rending anguish & above all the determination to right that which is wrong & make their world a better place.
Hopefully it won't be to long before we once again get the opportunity to take another trip into the Flame.
Highly recommend the whole series.
You won't be disappointed.

I loved this book as I do with all Caris Roane books. The sizzling chemistry between Alpha Warren and Witch Kiara was amazing as was the love story that accompanied it. The five realms and all characters seen so real with this author and I could no put this book down. Enjoyed the reappearance of Alpha Fergus and his mate Mary.

Emerald Flame is the sixth book in the Flame series by Caris Roane. We focus on Warren, Alpha of the Cordion pack, and Kiara, a witch who has worked closely with wolves in the past. In fact, she has set up a refuge centre for those that rescued from the various sex clubs. They spend time there, dealing with what has happened to them, and learning to fit in with pack life again. She likes Warren, Warren likes her, and neither of them wants anything long-term. They are also working against Julio, who has taken over too many packs for their liking. When he attacks Ralph, a friend of both Warren and Kiara, things step up and the action kicks into gear.

This is a hot story, full of action and steaminess. With an alter wife thrown into the mix too, I wasn't sure where it would go, but I'm very happy with the way it turned out. It is smoothly written, with one scene flowing nicely into the next. There were no editing or grammatical errors that jumped out at me while I was reading it. The characters are all fully believable and behave in a realistic way. This is a full-length novel, and it was nice to be able to sink my teeth into it properly. I would highly recommend this book, and this series, to all lovers of the paranormal genre.

I think this is the best book in the series so far. Although following a similar theme to the previous installments, it is approached in a way that feels fresher. The effect produced by the lead characters together is more involved, and their backstories are a bit more complex, interesting and relevant. There is lots of action, although some parts of the book could have been shorter.

Shifterrific Ms. Caris has written another great book. Each page captivates you from the first to the end, everyone full of Magical Fireworks.
Alex Warren is Alter Alpha Wolf Shifter in the Savage Territory and The Caldion Pack plus he was a Border Patrol Officer. Warren doesn’t trust Witches, it was a Witch that made the paste that scared his face for life.
Kiara Fleming is an Alter Witch who rescues hurt wolves. They all have a form of PTSD that she has a routine of treatments that work. All have gone back to pack to live a normal life. Both Warren and Kiara have secrets that no one knows, can they keep their secrets?
Warren and Kiara have to team up to arrest or kill Julio who has taken over two packs by killing their alphas. Julio also controls his wolves by addicting them to Emerald Flame. As if all these packs weren't enough for him he wants Alpha Fergus and Alpha Warren's Packs too.

I loved this book!! I love every book in the flame series, they all seem to keep me turning the page to find out the twists and outcome!!

Kiara and Warren are a great couple! I felt so bad for the pain she suffered through from that evil witch. So I was happy to see her get her story told. Her and Warren are the perfect pair. They are a complete team and have you hoping they work through their personal issues to come together forever!

I love seeing how Five Bridges is coming together! Can’t wait for the next one!!
