>It's Christmastime, but something strange and sinister is in the air. Treacle, Cath's courageous black cat, can't see what it is, but he feels a dangerous presence out there in the snow-blanketed streets.
Aunt Astrid also feels dark ripples in the dimensions. The Greenstone witches suspect this creature is somehow tied to the disappearance of two high school students. Soon, one of them turns up dead, half-eaten.
Book seven in the series but I found it works just fine as a stand-alone story. A little bit of reference to past relationships but easily read around. I loved the cats and the bad guys were very bad. My only con is that the main character makes some stupid decisions during the climax when she is otherwise quite smart. Out of character. Overall a good read.
Another fun read in this great series! Christmas is coming to Wonder Falls and so is a growing evil. Cath, Bea, and Aunt Astrid, along with their feline companions are ready to eradicate evil and celebrate the holidays with a festive party! I am addicted to this fun, suspenseful, and fast-paced series. I thank Harper Lin for this great book!
I totally enjoyed this yarn about three witches, their interesting individual powers, and their three feline familiars. A wonderful tale about family, real love, and compassion and care for others. Perfect for getting into the true Christmas spirit.
The Greenstone witches are once again the target of evil. When there are reports of inappropriate behavior by a teacher at the high school and missing children, Cath, Bea, and Aunt Astrid are pulled into the mystery by their sense of something wicked in the town. In spite of precautions, both the Brew-Ha-Ha Cafe and Cath are victims of the evil.
I have to say that Ms Lin tends to get a little dark in this series-after all, witchcraft has to combat some pretty gruesome monsters from other dimensions. However this one got to me more than usual when a half eaten missing student is returned. I kept telling myself it wasn't real, but the problem was, the characters seem so real that it is hard to know sometimes what is or isn't real. It certainly was a captivating book that hit on some topics that are definitely current in our world.
I also liked the hints of romantic interest in the book and the spirit of Christmas that prevaded in spite of the evil. I read the book in one sitting, stopping only for a brief break. I just couldn't wait to get to the resolution and see how everything turned out. Hopefully if you are reading this you have read the other books in the series. Although this is a stand alone mystery, the characters interaction make more sense when you know their past histories! So if you haven't read books 1-6. get going and learn about Wonder Falls and three special witches!
I received this as an ARC in return for an honest review. Harper Lin is one of my favorite authors. All of her series are very different, interesting and relatable. This book finds our favorite trio of witches dealing with a supernatural source that they are not familiar with at all. Everyone's senses are tingling and on edge, but they cannot figure out why. Aunt Astrid discovers that a creature that is lurking about goes back centuries and has had dealings with their family before. Now the creature is back and is kidnapping children from their local high school. It is up to Cath, Bea and Astrid along with their familiars to stop this supernatural force before any more children are harmed. Will they be able to stop the creature in time to also save the holidays from being ruined? Will Cath decide between Tom and Blake? This is a great, fast read. Very enjoyable.
Even amidst the holiday frolic, evil raises its ugly face in Wonder Falls. Thankfully, the Greenstone witches are on the job regardless of the season, and still manage to whip up some delightful Christmas goodies along the way. Also, Cath becomes the center of a love triangle that trips her up at various points throughout the story, so a bit of mystery remains as to how her love life will end up working out. I especially enjoyed the various witchy aspects of this mystery and how they ended up resolving everything in time for a wonderful Christmas celebration. This is a great cozy mystery that will definitely get you in the mood for the holidays - without the supernatural bad guys, of course!
I didn't realize this book was way deep into a series until I came to add it here. I might have missed some things because I didn't read the previous books (I guess the biggest thing I missed for this story was the context for the situation between Cath and Blake) but it didn't stop me from enjoying the story. The story is pretty fast paced and the main character is endearing. I particularly liked the fact that even though she could talk with the cats they remained cats more than cat shaped humans, I think that aspect of the story was well executed. The creature they dealth with in this story was pretty original too. The only thing that I didn't like was the part with Tom at the end that felt rather unearned. Will I come back to read the next installment? Absolutely!

I love these stories! It's like visiting an old friend(s) every time a new one comes out! This story has more of Treacle, Cath's black cat who is her familiar. He senses something evil and dangerous but doesn't know what it is.But he is not alone, Aunt Astrid also feels something dark. Could this evil have something to do with the missing students? This story is almost more of a thriller than an cozy mystery, but still I enjoyed it very much! And I am not going to say anything else and give more of the story out. You will need to read it to find out all the things that are going on in this one! Enjoy! I voluntarily reviewed ARC of this book. The review is my own opinion.
Fur-miliar Felines is the seventh book in A Wonder Cats Mystery series. This book can be read as a standalone, but I would suggest that you read this series in order as the books do build on each other and the characters grow through the series. This book is a little darker than some of the others have been so far. After reports of inappropriate behavior from one of the teachers and a student disappearing and reappearing half-eaten, the Greenstone witches are pulled in by the mystery and sense the wickedness that is surrounding their town. Will they be able to solve the mystery and find out who is behind the wickedness? I really enjoyed this story, and definitely recommend it.
Just in time for Christmas! Cath, Bea and Aunt Astrid are getting into the Christmas spirit when they discover a High School boy is missing. With Christmas shopping needing to be done and a mystery to solve, there isn't a free moment to spare. Treacle senses something is not quite right. This mystery will take all three witches and their furry felines. When a High School teacher is arrested in connection with the missing student's disappearance it is time to investigate. Mystery, suspense and even a little romance makes for a great read. You will want to read all the books in this series. I was given and Advanced Readers Copy in exchange for and honest review.
It was just before Christmas & the Greenstones are all getting ready for the holidays. Shopping, wrapping, decorating, celebrating. However, as joyful as the season is, real evil is lurking in the shadows. Cath, Bea, Aunt Astrid & their feline familiars are locked in a desperate race to expose & destroy a malevolent creature before it destroys them. This was definitely a high energy thrill ride that kept me in a grip of suspense till the very end. And speaking of the end, Ms Lin leaves us with a little nugget on what may come in the future for Cath & her men.
This is my favorite series by this author!!!! Love the cover. So Christmas is just around the corner and Cath, Bea, and Aunt Astrid are crime solving once again. Something strange and sinister is definitely in the air and in the town and chasing them down. This one was a bit creepy IMO but loved it anyway. We also have a possible love triangle. I am team Tom because he is crazy about Cath and treats her as if she is the only woman for him. I kinda feel for Blake but.... Really enjoyed the Christmas element. Keep them coming!!!!
I do love the witches of Wonderfalls but this story was awesome but the nature of it creeper me out. Chills going down your spine, scared crapless. There are teen's missing and a teacher, who is under the investigation for improper behavior of minors. Also we have something that is stalking people especially the witches. I'm really can't wait to see what's next. I voluntarily agreed to review this book. My review is my own honest opinion.
Harper Lin is a great author. This is book #7 in her Wonder Cats Mystery Series. In this book our favorite witches are up against a supernatural force that they have not seen before. Everyone is on edge & not sure what to do. There is someone or something kidnapping children from the local high school. It is up to Cath and her family to figure what is going on and save the children in time for the upcoming holidays. This is a great, fast read. I have read & enjoyed all the books in this series.
The Brew-Ha-Ha Cafe is run by witches Cath, her cousin, and her aunt. There is concern in town when two teenagers disappear, and suspicion falls on a high school teacher. The witches know it's more than that; a strange catlike monster is about, and they must figure out how to defeat it with help from their cats Treacle, Peanut Butter, and Marshmallow. Cath, fortunately, has the enviable skill of understanding what the cats are thinking. A fun holiday paranormal read.
It's Christmas time and everybody is looking for gifts and holiday cheer, but trouble comes yet again for the trio of withes. I really like these books and following the characters I look forward to more. A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own
As always I love each and every book in this series. The interaction between the cats and the humans is awesome. This one even more so. Treacle is just the greatest cat and I like the other 2, also. I love this witch/ familiar thing as I'm a total cat person. Can't wait for the next book in the series and hope it's not too far in the future!
Fur-miliar Felines is book 7 of the Wonder Cats Mysteries and the author gives enough background to made the characters and their relationships understandable to me who has not read any of the other books. Cath, the narrator, her cousin Bea and her Aunt Astrid are witches and with their familiars, cats Treacle, Peanut Butter and Marshmallow are able to save the town of Wonderfalls, CA. The three women run their coffee shop and bakery, Brew-Ha-Ha with the help of their baker Kevin. Bea's husband, Jake, non-wizard and policeman, understands the three women and accepts their supernatural abilities. Tom is Cath's "almost" boyfriend. Bea is an empath who can sense someone's feelings and calm, lessen sadness, or cheer her up with a touch. Cath can speak to animals, especially their three cats, but also dogs, birds, and various others. Aunt Astrid is the most powerful of the three and at times must corral her niece's impetuous behavior. It is near Christmas and the small town is engulfed in the aftermath of a high school teacher being accused of sexual advances to some of his students. As it turns out, two of these students have been murdered and their bodies partially destroyed. Cath, Bea, and Astrid become involved as they sense something supernatural in the air. The villain is a true monster with powers that would destroy a normal human!
𝑭𝒖𝒓-𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒓 𝑭𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔, Book 7, A Wonder Cats Mystery by Harper Lin
This book was great fun. I picked it up on one of my free/low-cost lists to be part of my annual Month of Christmas Reading, and it didn't disappoint. The book featured a real mystery (although it was relatively easy to figure out who was what here), a twist and turn here and there, likeable/relatable characters, and plenty of action. The plotting and pacing were excellent, the flow seamless, and the proofing and editing were very good. There was no cliffhanger ending.
It's Christmas in Wonder Falls and the Greenstone witches, Astrid, Bea and Cath are busy in their coffee shop. But something other than the Christmas spirit is roaming the streets and it will be up to the three witches, along with their familiars, Treacle, Peanut Butter, and Marshmallow, to narrow down the culprit or culprits before they become victims themselves.
Although this isn't a series I follow, I would recommend it to anyone who likes mysteries, a little urban fantasy, along with a touch of romance.
I seem to be an outlier among the reviewers. I expected more from this "cozy mystery." This is the first book I've read in this series or by this author. The novel is ok, as a standalone story, although it was evident that I was missing some history in the character relationships when a new-to-me but established side-characters character appeared for the first time in this book. This dark Christmas mystery is a mixture of seasonal cheer and gruesome supernatural crime. It has its moments of promise and enjoyment, however, for a cat-centric series and title, I expected the feline characters to have a more active presence in the narrative and was disappointed that they weren't treated as main characters. The writing isn't great, and I had trouble developing a relationship with the characters. The plot was odd, but the mystery was predictable to the extent that it was frustrating when the characters didn't pick up on the obvious -especially for witches, who were in-tune with the supernatural contexts of the narrative world.
I’m not entirely sure why the ratings are so high. The suspense regarding the “new” substitute teacher is non-existent. The heroine breaks character to inform the reader numerous times and generally at the pinnacle of describing a harrowing moment. The actual cats take on a monster drawing blood when we all know that their sharp claws hurt, but rarely leave gaping wounds. Even the lead characters “talent” is useless against her enemy. He learns of it, but treated it as informative and hardly a suspenseful devastating blow... There are so many better books out there. Don’t be fooled by the ratings on this one.
Cath Greenstone and her familiar, Treacle, along with cousin Bea and her familiar, Peanut Butter, and her Aunt Astrid Greenstone and her familiar Marshmallow get involved with a mastery of 2 missing students. When teacher Mr. gale Wayne is arrested, Jake, Bea's husband, a policeman thinks the case is over. But the adventure has only just begun. An apparent suicide, the discovery of the mutilated bodies of the missing students, the mysterious new teacher Clyde Tumble, a mysterious portal in Mr. Wayne's house, and Diaolus Formarum Catus, shape-shifter, and the plot of vengeance against the Greenstone family, all add to a page-turner of a book.
The Christmas season has come to Wonder Falls and with it some very strange happenings. Cath, Bea, Aunt Astrid, and the cats are once again investigating a series of strange happenings. Will they be able to stop the evil before it has ruined Christmas? Just when you thought Cath's love life was on the right track, the author throws you a curve. It is nice to find a series that keeps you interested without repeating the same old. This series just keeps getting better and better. I cannot wait for the next book. I received an ARC of this book for the purpose of an unbiased review.
This is no old fashioned Christmas tail, this is about detectives, murder, things that go bump in the night that you don't want your child to happens in the real world and those paranormal communities that can give nightmares that don't , witches and those purky coffee shop girls oh and cats . All vibrantly written about in this cozey murder mystery paranormal Christmas storey. That I so totally enjoyed because it is also filled with love and the Christmas spirit. So snap up a copy and start enjoying "Fur-miliar Felines "😏😮🤔🙄☺ Kat
In a New England town, three related witches became aware of an evil presence kidnapping and eating teenagers. A high school teacher was accused and apparently committed suicide while in jail. The witches realized there was another evil presence. Turns out was an evil presence - a shapeshifter. The relatives of the shapeshifter had been defeated by the relatives of the witches.
In a violent showdown, the witches defeated the shapeshifter with the help of their familiars and stray cats.
Part of a series.

I love cats and the witches who live with them. Three related witches who own and run a coffeehouse and bakery and their 3 wonder cats with whom they communicate. Teenagers have gone missing from the high school and one worried mom tells her friends at the coffeehouse how worried she is about her son who has been missing over a week. Police don’t seem to be spending time looking for him. The witches start asking questions and along with mysterious happenings, lead them to suspect foul play. A good read I thought.
I wanted to like this book more than I did. The mystery aspect was well plotted but the extra normal aspects just didn’t gel for me. Everything I don’t like about cozy mysteries was o display here: pig-headed women who run into trouble without a thought. In his case, a witch who doesn’t even twig to a glamour being used on her when she knows that an ancient evil is around. Just once I’d like one of these nosy women to be prudent and patient while solving the mystery.
I read Book 7after reading Book 1 and there were no gaps, each book is a separate entity. My favourite character in this book was Treacle, even though there was less written about him in this story. Cath continues to be her impetuous self and the relationship between the Aunt and Cousins remains good. This story delves deeper into the paranormal and hinges on the unbelievable. The end seems to be a bit hurried and contrived but despite this I did not mind reading to the end and although I liked Tom, I missed Blake!
