Ruled by a maniacal dictator and cut off from the outside world, the citizens of North Korea are living in a darkness that has nearly destroyed them. Famine, malnourishment, and poverty are rampant as the North Korean government spends fortunes on nuclear weapons testing. Christians inside the closed nation face brutal persecution to ensure the underground church survives. But hope is not completely lost. Everyday, brave men and women put their lives on the line to bring light into the darkness. “Braving North Korea” is a collection of their covert stories of rescue, aid, and underground discipleship as they risk all to bring the Gospel to the most persecuted nation on earth. A portion of your book purchase will be donated to continue underground efforts that serve persecuted Christians inside North Korea. Join the rescue today!
This book doesn’t go into detail about the struggles of the North Korean People. I didn’t learn anything about Christians in North Korea. Not a well conducted ethnography it glosses over actual accounts of North Koreans. The book is very short it took 30 minutes to read and focused more on Bible passages and christianity in general and not on the North Korean christians. It included very brief first hand accounts from North Koreans but shifts focus very quickly. I do not recommend this book at all there are significantly better books about North Korea.
This is really for those who have a heart. May it convict and shake the arrogance and self-sufficiency from those who expect Christianity to be a comfortable hiding place and not the vital ministry and representation of the Living, Loving Savior here on earth. O LORD! Make us vessels to carry Your life to those dying in hopeless darkness!
Quick read. Having just read a book about how bad living in North Korea is and escaping, it was nice to read a book that talks more about hope and sharing that with North Koreans. I wish the stories had more detail or were more narrative than expository. Still, a good read to know some of what God is doing in this part of the world and can probably be read in a day.
These are interesting stories about North Koreans trying to escape a country of starvation and despair by the way of China, who sends them back to their imprisonment. But Christians are helping them by feeding, clothing and bringing them to God.
This book is pretty inspiring. It’s a wonderful reminder that God will always be there and he will find a way. Having faith and not losing hope, these people were saved. Thank you for sharing the story.
I loved all of these very hopeful stories for my Christian brothers and sisters. The people of North Korea are heavy on my heart and it's nice to know they are being helped by so many.
