Jessica Sorensen is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author from the snowy mountains of Wyoming. When she's not writing, she spends her time reading and hanging out with her family.
* This review contains a few minor spoilers for this story.
My expectations weren't too high for this novella and that's probably what saved it from ending up a DNF. I liked how the story started out in the first book of this series, but this one was just a rushed and disjointed series of coincidences.
I liked Legend, but I can't overlook the fact that he "found" star by refusing a "trade" which had consequences an ancient vampire, as he calls himself multiple times in this novella, should have seen coming.
Star wasn't around enough for me to get to know her. We're informed, by her, of the trauma she's gone through, how her mother is somewhat at fault for it and her current circumstances. Other than her miraculous survival at the end and her power there isn't much to say about her. She'll probably have a big role in the next few books because of the storyline she's so intricately a part of. I'd like to see more of her.
I don't like that the author relied on sheer luck to pull this story together. There should have been better planned twists and turns to get Legend to that castle. This story feels like a rushed cop-out, but for the purpose of moving the overall storyline along and giving the reader an "origin" story for Star, I can't say I hated it.
My Favorite Quotes:
"The only thing to see in life is darkness and light. Nothing else exists or matters."
I've been following the Tangled Realms series since I stumbled upon its release. I instantly fell in love with the storyline. It really just blew me away with the writing style and creativity. Jessica Sorensen knows how to create a world and weave a story. I've been waiting for the next book and found this Novella. I have to say at first I struggled remembering all the plot details from book 1 & 2 but it wasn't an issue. It was easy to fall back into the Tangled Realms because the writing is strong and vivid.
This Novella gives us some insight on Legend, his brother Holden and Star. There honestly was some mystery surrounding a few of these characters so a partial glimpse into their backgrounds was profound. This helps me clean up some previous questions I had and of course, created some more. Holden. He's tragic, naive, damaged, kind and vulnerable. Legend. Wow. He holds up his reputation. Though I like knowing why he has a "connection" to Star. Which leads me to Star. Sheer agony! Her story hurt...right in the feels and not in a good way. As I said, Jessica can write. She can make you walk right into the pages. Since she's so talented I struggled to make it through this story because there are various scenes that were violent and gruesome. So if your not used to dark material be warned there is some in here. Maybe others wouldn't label it as dark but it was for me. Kept me holding my breath when attempting to absorb all that was happening. It's still a great story full of mystery and suspense.
I enjoy the different realms and creatures, I can’t wait for the official second book to come out. Legend is a vampire who is everything you expect and more. I can’t wait to see what him and star accomplish
This book was fantastic! However it was way to short, ends on a major cliff hanger and only felt like it was a couple chapters long. I wish I waited to read this until more books in the series were out
Forever Stardust is a nice short story, of the Tangled Realms series, for the secondary character Legion. Forever Stardust gives the reader a deeper background of Legion and helps introduce characters that you know are gonna change the Tangled Realms universe. Excited for the next installment!
