Our past destroyed us once, but I refuse to lose her again.
It only takes one mistake to ruin everything you’ve got, and I’ve made several of those. We spent so much time together: loving each other, hating each other, and, eventually, trying to get over each other, but I could never forget her. Every smile, laugh, and curve of her beautiful body was etched into my heart and soul.

I thought our love story was over, but fate brought us back together when I was least suspecting it.

When I lay eyes on her again six years later, I know things aren’t over—at least not for me. The moment I see her, a thousand unspoken words pass between us and all the feelings I’d lost come flooding back. But I have to ask myself, did I ever really heal or are the ghosts of our past too much to overcome?

Buy Only Me, a complete standalone dark romance to find out if these two can mend their broken past.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Toni and Lucas haven't seen each other in 6 years and are in places that neither thought they would be. This is a beautifully written story like the first one Only You. I really enjoyed Toni and Lucas story. I could not put this book down and enjoyed it all the way to the end.

Lucas moves on with his life after a horrible breakup. How he does it is by drowning himself in women and alcohol. His life is falling apart= his business is coming apart and he is pretty much falling apart. Fast forward 6 years later and he is thrown back together with the woman who broke up with him. Is it karma or fate’s way of laughing at him?
Toni herself hasn’t done well in her life since she broke up with Lucas 6 years before. She has hit rock bottom and ends up at AA where she runs into her ex who is there at a meeting. They both are on a self-destruction path for they both have demons they have to face and put to rest but can they, will they?
This is a beautiful and emotional 2nd chance romance about two people who belong together but first have to face the demons of their past before they can truly reunite. I enjoyed getting to see Lucas get his story after first meeting him in Only You. So happy to see him get his HEA.

My Rating: 4.5 stars *****

I was so glad to see Lucas get his own HEA. I was always wondering in the last book why Lucas was the way he was with relationships and the partying. Now everything has been answered and the story that was told with it was at time heart breaking to hear the things Toni and Lucas had both been through.

This is definitely a standalone book however if you the read the first one you NEED to read this one too. A great job was done with wrapping up the story. Hopefully thee will be more coming from these two authors. They seem to work together well and it shows in their writing style.

A BEAUTIFUL SECOND CHANCE AT LOVE

Another wonderful story by the talented Derek Masters and Vivian Ward. This time it was all about Lucas...and Toni. Their second chance at love was beautiful to experience. Learning about their demons and what their lives were like when they were apart was heart breaking, but their issues were what led them back to each other.
Their chemistry was strong and their banter was fun and playful and I really enjoyed getting to know these awesome characters better.
I highly recommend this story (and series) to any book lover.

This is the second book in The Only series and it doesn't disappoint. The story begins with Lucas in trouble with the law due to his drinking. With his construction business in jeopardy because of his DUI conviction, he was ordered to attend AA meetings by the courts. When he arrives, he sees someone he hadn't seen in 6 years. Toni his ex-girlfriend, who he has never gotten over and the source of his demons he's been chasing all these years. Toni, we find out has been sober longer than Lucas but has been chasing the same demons and has the same unresolved feelings as Lucas.

When you see the back story of Lucas and Toni's relationship and what lead up to their brake up, you finally see Lucas and understand the depth to his character. Not just the kind of 2 dimensional party boy who was Mason's best friend from the last book. This book is emotional, it will pull and tear at you but it will give you the HEA we all want. You might want to keep some Kleenex on hand. There is a humorous part that made me laugh.

This story will test your emotions and take them for a ride but so well worth it!! Vivian Ward and Derek Masters collaborate so well. It's effortless how seamless the writing is where you can't tell where one writer ends and the other begins. A beautiful story that you will absolutely fall for!! ❤❤

This is the second book that Vivian Ward and Derek Masters co-authored together. The first one being Only You which I reviewed last month. These are companion novels but they can definitely be read as standalones.

In the first book I wasn't really a fan of Lucas but reading about his back story I got an insight into why he acts the way he does. He totally grew on me in this book and I have come to adore him as much as Mason.

This is a sweet second chance romance novel that deals with some heavy subjects. While I have never dealt with this personally I feel like the way Lucas has miraculously gotten better just from have Toni back in his life isn't an accurate representation. I feel like what was done on Toni's side was actually handled much better and comes of to be a little more realistic.

Over all I love the romance, I mean really did you think I was going to say I didn't love the romance aspect of the book lol I mean it's me we're talking about here. Anyways I got off on a little tangent. I loved the romance, I thought it was really sweet and it was done perfectly however I think a little work could have been done with how Lucas's side of the story was handled. I'm being vague because I don't want to spoil anything.

A simply sweet love story, of two hearts which get another chance to heal and move on together

I received an Advance Reader Copy for Only Me (A Second Chance Romance): Standalone Dark Romance (The Only Series, Book #2) written by Vivian Ward and Derek Masters and voluntarily reviewed this book. Six long years have passed for both Lucas and Toni, but with their hearts still unhealed and their lives not exactly where they wanted it to be, they meet unexpectedly at an AA meeting, of all things, and their hearts are reaching for each other once again. Lucas has to come to grips with the state of his mind, which is not yet in a healthy place, nor is he doing anything directional with his life in terms of his father’s construction company. He has been existing in a kind of a mental pit, and if it wasn’t for his current friend/casual bed partner Alicia, he would be in much, much deeper. So when he meets Toni, it’s being with her and seeing what she has been doing lately which has him inspired and hoping for a second chance with her. Only, there are still financial issues as well as other relationship issues standing in the way before they can move on…if it is meant to be.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. this was a second chance romance between Lucas and Toni. Lucas was featured in the book Only You, where he had a relationship with his best friend and his now wife Penny. It is now a few years after Only You and Lucas has been slowly losing his business due to his drinking and his trouble that has caused him. When Lucas is arrested and forced to attend AA meetings in order to get his driver's license back, he is shocked to see his ex Toni there. Toni is trying to rebuild her life and has recently bought a Laundromat, but the building is in worse shape than she thought and needs a lot of expensive repairs. When they see each other, they both realize they still have feelings for each other. but decide to stay friends because of the fragile state of their lives and they have to deal with the past before they can have a future together. I loved this book, it was so emotional. I loved seeing Lucas find his own love after Only You. The past between Lucas and Toni was heartbreaking and will make you cry. I was so glad to see this book give Lucas happiness. A great book in this series.

Only Me is nothing short of amazing and is the brilliantly crafted follow up to Only You, the first book in The Only Series. Derek Masters and Vivian Ward have once again showed us how in sync they are with their writing styles as the pages flowed flawlessly from one chapter to the next. I never once felt that this was written by two different people. I fell in love with Lucas and his quirky ways in book one and am so glad the author’s brought him back so he could get his happily ever after. Lucas runs into his long lost, one true love, Toni, after being apart for six years after a heart wrenching breakup. Their reunion couldn’t have come at a better time as they both have been fighting demons and regrets with one bad decision after another. Between these pages the authors will take you through a multitude of emotions that will have you laughing, crying, feeling angry and sad all the while leading you to a romantic and heartfelt HEA. Only Me has quickly become one of my favorite reads of the year and I highly recommend purchasing this second chance dark romance today.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book for an honest review. This book was just as amazing as Only You. These two authors are sizzling together and I hope they collaborate again. This is Toni and Lucas’s story. These two have been through the ringer and when Lucas left six years ago, both of their lives spiraled out of control and piece by little piece starting to put it back together. Lucas has regrets, still loves Toni and never forgot her. Toni, devastated when Lucas left her went to a dark place and soon cleaned up her act and is sober now. An incident puts Lucas in Toni’s sights and when they see each other, the sparks are there, the want and need, the love, but after everything tha’st happened can they try again, should they? You will have so many feels with this story, happy, sad, angry, and you might want to grab some Kleenex. This really is a second chance love story, the fight to have that one person you hold so close back in your life you’d do just about anything to get her back. AMAZEBALLS!! LOVED IT!!

A story of finding your second chance and fighting for it. Learning to let go of the past and embrace a new future together.

Six years ago he walked out on Toni and he began his descent to rock bottom. Even when he left, he knew that he’d never stop loving her. But he wasn’t able to let go of his pain and hurt.

Lucas has spiraled out of control. And it has left him with no drivers license, in AA and a business headed down the tube. Who ever thought that an AA meeting would bring him back to Toni.

Toni fell apart too after he left. But she got cleaned up quicker. Sober for four years and a new business owner, she’s making her way. But she never stopped loving Lucas.

An AA meeting brings them back together, while their past tries to tear them apart. These two can’t let each other go because their love is stronger than that. Now they just need to do the work to build their life together.

It was great to read Lucas’ story after his best mate Mason got his HEA. Poor Lucas! Nothing was going right in his life. His best mate is a happily married family man but Lucas has lost the love of his life due to a difficult decision. His dad has passed away, he’s lost his licence and can only do local work which is affecting his construction company that his father had worked hard to build. Lucas turned to alcohol to dull the pain in his heart but the only way he can get his licence back and his life on track is to go to AA meetings. He’s shocked when he turns up at his first meeting to find Toni, the woman he loves and lost at the AA meeting fighting her own demons. Oh the heartbreak they’ve been through! This was a really touching story and Lucas is such a sweetheart, you just want things to turn around for him. A lovely story. This is a wonderful second chance love story between Lucas and Toni. They feel in love while in college and after a hard decision that Toni makes against Lucas’s wishes he tries to stand by her through it and move on but he can’t and leaves her. They both lose themselves in a bottle with one bad decision after another. Toni gets herself together and attends AA on a regular basis and years later it catches up with Lucas and once he is court ordered to attend AA he sees Toni and everything has a fresh new look for him. They both have their struggles along with some good and bad ups and downs. Can Lucas keep his crazy ex from destroying his chance to try with Toni again? Will Toni be able to not push Lucas away and actually have a conversation with him? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout an am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was a wonderful story about love and second chances and I really enjoyed it! We follow Lucas who has hit rock bottom, he drinks all of the time and has now found himself with many DUIs. It’s affecting his business and his life and he is court ordered to go to AA meetings. When he gets to his first meeting he can’t believe who he sees there. His ex Toni whom he still harbors feelings for. From there things really kick off and the story was so fun that I finished it within a day. I really loved that the characters’ rough past was so realistic and although I haven’t been through something like that I appreciated reading about it. I don’t want to go into too much detail or I’d spoil the book but once again Vivian and Derek collaborated so well and I can’t recommend the book enough!!!

Only Me is an emotional second chance read. Lucas lives his life in a continuous loop of drowning himself in alcohol and women. Never really dealing with the ghosts of his past has caused his life to fall apart around him. When his path unexpectedly crosses with Toni he realizes fate may have just have given him the second chance he needs. Both Toni and Lucas are on the path to self-destruction. I wondered throughout the first book what caused Lucas' wild partying ways. This book explains Lucas and Toni's history and I finally understood his character. His story pulled at my heartstrings and had me rooting that he would find his own happiness in the end. Only Me was another seamless collaboration between the authors and I look forward to reading more of their work.

Second Chances
Have you ever done something and it changed your life and not for the better? Toni and Lucas see each other after six years. They are in place that neither thought they would ever be in again. Their story was so engaging. The storyline gave me every emotion! It made me cry, laugh, want to smack Lucas, and melt with love! I never put it down once I started it. I have to say that I am enjoying Derek’s and Vivian’s writing. This is the follow-up to Only You and I love the way this second book tied up the loose ends. I hope this dynamic duo continues to write together because I love their writing. The story is well written and the characters are interesting and well developed. I really enjoyed this story and I highly recommend it!

After reading Only You, I was hoping there would be another book and it would center around Lucas! So glad these authors teamed up again! I truly enjoyed this book. It tells the story of Lucas and how he always regretted how his relationship with Toni ended. After Lucas ran into some trouble, he ends up seeing Toni again, and the sparks flew! They are both hesitant to get back together after the way things ended. Can they find that spark again?! Did they ever stop loving each other?! If you want to know if they worked things out and ended up together, then you have to read this book. Its a true love story!

What a GREAT book!! This is the 2nd book in the series, the first one, Only you was amazing, and I thought to myself, how can you top this? But OMG,,, did they ever!!! I'm so in love with Lucas and Toni! This is everything you never knew you wanted in a book! A beautifully written second chance at love story that will pull at your heart and have you screaming, crying, and laughing all at once. The heartbreaking story of these two, and their second chance at their HEA is so raw and so perfect! I highly recommend this book, and I guarantee you won't be disappointed! 💖💖💖

In my opinion, this book needs a TRIGGER WARNING for sensitive topics that are discussed. This was an emotional roller coaster of a story, and I was tempted to throw my Kindle and not finish the book. However, the characters grabbed my heartstrings and wouldn't let go, so I had to finish the story. I'm glad that I didn't throw my Kindle, made it through all the rough parts of the story, and that they find their HEA. It was also nice to see how the main characters interacted with minor characters to really bring the story together.

Please note that I did receive an ARC, and the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Only Me (A Second Chance Romance) by Vivian Ward and Derek Masters is a powerful emotional read. This book is well written, has a highly involving storyline and complex characters. The Book focuses on Lucas and Toni. These exes are still struggling to deal with their breakup from 6 years ago and it's causing major problems for them. Join them for this intense and engrossing journey as they try to deal with past mistakes to move forward to finally get a HEA. This is another wonderful collaboration between these two authors and I eagerly look forward to more joint projects from them. I loved this book and highly recommend it. What a great book! This is the follow up to Only You and is another great collaboration from Vivian Ward and Derek Masters. This one is about Lucas. This one has its dark moments and touches on alcoholism and how it changes lives but also how recovery and change a life. More importantly its about second second chances and reconnecting with that one person made for you. Great story. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

This is the follow up to Only You, but you don't have to read that book to enjoy and follow this one. This book was a wonderful second chance story. After several years, the characters find each other again. The story tugs at all of your emotions, has likable characters that have you rooting for them up till the very end of the book! They help each other fight their demons and turn out to be perfect for each other. The two authors of this book are perfect collaborators!

I am voluntarily leaving a review. Lucas lost the love of his life, they were young and needed to grow up some. Toni knew she was to young to have a baby and the choice she made lost her the love of her life.
6 yrs later they meet again at an AA meeting because they both lost their reason for thinking straight. He's there because he's drinkin and driving and she's there because she almost lost her life. She needs some help with her new business and he can help her more than anyone else could, now Alicia can't stand that Lucas is with the one woman he never stopped loving. She caused all kinds of trouble and ends up in jail.

I liked it. I wasn't crazy about Lucas from the first book, but he grew on me in this one. But, I didn't like the outside of the relationship sexual acts, the over the top acts of Alicia (too unbelievable), Lucas hiding his former sex life tgat included sgaring Penny with Mason, or the very abrupt ending. Lucas being worried about not having work and then spending money on helping Toni wasn't very plausible, and the whole AA thing (plus Lucas's job situation issues) seemed to have disappeared toward the ending. There were things that needed polished up. I did like the overall story, though.

After a devastating break up, Lucas moves forward with his life by drowning himself in women and alcohol. His life is falling apart, he's losing his business and is miserable. Six years after losing the love of his life, fate throws them together again. Is it a cruel cosmic joke or will they find a way to heal?
Lucas is the roommate from the first book, Only You. Both books are standalone, but I liked reading both. Good writing, the collaboration is well matched. Deals with some sensitive issues in a relationship, and was well done. I voluntarily received an ARC of the book.

Regrets and demons..

While we were introduced to Lucas in "Only You", it is not necessary to have read that book first. Lucas and Toni both have spent the six years they have been apart dealing with their own regrets and demons. Before these two can reach a HEA, both must face things deep within themselves. Once again, these two talented authors have written an emotional story that reaches out and grabs you.

For the last six years Lucas’s life has been spiraling downward and now he finds himself with a suspended DRL, forced to attend AA and his business going under. The last person he expected to see at the AA meeting was his ex Toni.

Toni had to hit bottom as well but she has been in AA for four years and has her own business.

Toni and Lucas have never completely moved on from each other but will this be their new beginning or will their past cause them to crash and burn again? I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This is the second book from Vivian Ward and Derek Masters, and the writing is as strong as in the first book 'Only You'. Ms Ward is one of my favourite authors and I can see the development in her story lines as she continues to write. Derek Masters adds more to this writing - they make a great writing team!
This book can be read as a stand alone, but has characters from the first book in it, so why not start with the first one and enjoy the story that much more.
I look forward to more books by this duo.

I loved this story. It is well written and very unexpected in the plot and storyline. It is written in multiple POV, which I like because it gives the thoughts and feelings of both the main characters to the reader. It is the story of Penny, Mason, and Lucas. It is unique in ways I have not expected it to be. I like it very much. No spoilers here. The chemistry are over the top and the hot scenes are steaming.

This is a wonderful second chance romance.
Lucas is heading in a downward spiral from the time he broke up with Toni, the only woman he ever loved. And being apart from Lucas, Toni was also on a self-destruction path.
Meeting up several years later in AA, they realize they are better together than apart.

Wonderful story, well-written, good characters, there is drama and a great HEA.
