Lucky in Love #6

Christmas with the Billionaire

Rate this book
Spice up the holiday season with the steamy new holiday novella from Lila Monroe.

Dressing up as a sexy elf to sing Christmas hits isn't exactly the glittering Broadway career I had planned. The only thing more humiliating than my outfit is coming face-to-face with Oliver Gage, the sexy big-shot theatre producer who just crushed my dreams. He's arrogant, infuriating... and did I mention how sexy he is?

I've sworn never to get comfy on the casting couch, but when we're snowed in together upstate, it's looking like a pretty good place to spend the night. Soon, sparks - and my panties - are flying.

Who said Christmas only had to come once a year?

4 Short and Sweet Stars

 photo dangingelves_zps77xwbvst.gif

Jill is a struggling actor in New York who has had six years of being turned down for big roles. So when she auditions for one of the wealthiest and sexiest producers on Broadway and he ignores her while playing on his phone, she loses it. I thought her little outburst was brilliant!!

This little outburst worked in Jill's favour making her stand out, but also got the interest of the sexy producer Oliver so when he see's her again at a function she is working at he just has to talk to her.

I have to admit that when I first started reading this I thought it wasn't going to be for me. When Oliver and Jill get stuck and need to stay at his families place things changed, that stunt Jill pulls was what changed my mind.

So this was a super short, super sweet holiday read it had a dash of comedy in it for good measure.

descriptionI really don't have a lot to say about this one. I enjoyed it a lot. It was a super quick and super sweet holiday read. The writing was well done. The pace was perfect. The plot was engaging and kept me turning the pages. There wasn't much angst and no OW/OM drama. It was funny. It was a little light in the sex department, but I wasn't bothered by that. The secondary characters (mostly of Oliver's family) were charming, and both the main characters were extremely likable. The only issue I did have with it was the ending. It was a little abrupt, and I would have preferred a happily ever after look into the future for this couple rather than the weak happy for now that we got. That said, perhaps we will see more of this couple in the upcoming full length BILLIONAIRE BACHELOR series that will feature Oliver's sister. In any case, it was a super enjoyable read and therefore gets two thumbs up from yours truly.description

Very short novella about a down on her luck actress, trying to make a big break who catches the eye of a hotshot producer after a particularly disastrous audition.

Average read. Didn't enjoy as much as I'd hoped to. Has a few funny moments. Romance is okay-ish.

I just simply can't get enough of Lila Monroe's books! Funny, sweet, and oh so sexy, Lila's always leaves me wanting more!

Christmas with the Billionaire is just another example of Lila's effervescent and laugh-out-loud approach to romantic stories. The storyline is quite unique, as all her books are, and the characters portray combustible chemistry, together and individually, that makes them feel genuine, natural, and heartfelt. The comedic and flirtatious relationship between the characters exudes sincerity and openness, that can often times be found lacking in short stories. And match those qualities with the ever scorching, red-hot romance budding between them, and this is one novella you don't want to pass up!

Hilarious and impassioned, with a dash of dreams coming true, Christmas with the Billionaire is the ideal holiday romance to get your fire roasting!

5 Stars!

Well this was a fun little Christmas read, just in time for the holiday season :)

Like a lot of struggling actors, Jill is trying to get her big break on the stage. After seven years of not much luck she auditions for a role that she knows was made her for. However, things go tits up when she takes exception to the attitude of the audition panel and seven years of pent up frustration comes pouring out of her mouth. Well that certainly got their complete attention!

Just to add to her embarasment, hours later she comes face to face with one of the producers, the very gorgeous Oliver Gage. Jill is almost looking for the hidden cameras when her luck falls even further on the way home as the weather closes in. However, is it luck or fate?

Somehow Jill ends up spending Christmas with Mr gorgeous Oliver Gage and the magic of Christmas sprinkles all over them, making this the memorable one that Jill has ever had :)

Loved this! It was funny, hot, sexy and with a plot which never lagged. Jill was a fantastic heroine, feisty, strong and with a positive attitude. She matched perfectly to Oliver, who was a little broken, jaded and hesitant from his previous break up. I loved his family, loved the introduction into this world and am very interested in checking out more of Lila's work. I definitely recommend if you are a romance reader looking for something quick, hot and fun to read.

Jill is a struggling actress and in her early 30's though she could pass for 25. She is getting to that stage where she is now considered "old" in acting years, and if she isn't careful, they will start casting her to play the roles of grandmothers. That is unless she can get a break in this industry. Jill is called back to audition to play the lead role Sara in Serendipity but her audition begins, and she is told "Next." This leads to a passionate blow-out where she calls out the casting directors as they did not once look up during her audition. She leaves and then that night is called to do a sing/dance catering gig at a Christmas Party. It is at this Christmas party that she catches sight of Oliver who is one of the directors of Serendipity. The night is over, and she is catching the train home, and she is one of two passengers, the second turns out to be Oliver. One thing leads to another as the train stops due to snow build-up and with no way to get home Oliver offers her a place to stay for the night. What she doesn't know is that Oliver is taking her to his family home and of course it's Christmas time. The pair starts this fake romance which later becomes slightly real, and then Jill gets the role of Sara. Will she take the role though or will she turn it down as it now looks like she only got the role as she slept with one of the directors. Can Oliver prove to Jill that he played no part in the casting and that he didn't find out about her getting the role till after she was delivered the news? Will Jill this Christmas get not only the part of her dreams but also find herself Lucky in Love with Oliver by her side? Find out in Lila Monroe's new Christmas romance - Christmas with the Billionaire.

I've loved all the books in the rest of the series but this was just too rushed and I wasn't feeling any chemistry between the male and female protagonists. The blazing hot, throwing her in a snow bank and kissing her senseless was just too forced.

This was a nice and quick christmassy read.

Lila Monroe delivered a perfect novella, the characters are feisty and the air between them burns quickly leaving them hot even in the middle of a snowstorm.
I was enjoying Jill and Oliver story so much I would have liked it to be a long novel.
I expect to see them again in the next series along with Oliver's sister.

What a great »little« read – story about a down-on-her luck want-to-be the next big thing on Broadway actor Jill and big hot-shot Broadway producer Oliver Gage.

Jill has moved to NYC 10 years ago in the pursuit of stardom. She is debating whether is time to say enough is enough and return back home. She attends additions in chance to succeed and become the next best thing on Broadway stage. But after having a meltdown in front of one of the most important people (Oliver) in the industry she finally has enough. Deciding that she’ll do her finally performance with her side job; she finds herself face to face with Oliver.

When fate intervenes they are pushed to spent Christmas together where Jill decides to put Oliver in his place by pretending to be his girlfriend in front of his family. From there on out things go pretty fast from enemies to lovers.

This Christmas novella was such a fun and heartwarming read. I loved the pace too how they progressed in their relationship, from her insulting him to their HEA. It really is a great holiday read!

A short, sweet Christmas cracker!
Jill is an aspiring actress, she was fun, feisty and determined, she's hoping to get her big Broadway break. Unfortunately, things don’t quite go to plan, from having her bag containing her dance shoes go missing. To then being ignored by the show’s gorgeous billionaire theatre producer and his director buddy leading her into having a very amusing hissy fit.

Work is work and Jill is asked to take on a last minute waitressing gig. The last person she expects to meet there is the hot as hell billionaire she just verbally reamed hours earlier.

Oliver Gage knows he's seen the singing dancing elf before!! He's amused when he realises that its the feisty red head who call them all out earlier in the day. When they meet up again on the train ride home a delay by sudden snowfall has them spending more time together that either one ever expected. And the closes place for them to stay is Oliver's parents home!!

Being introduced to the family leads to quite the hilarious situation. Giving us a fun and enjoyable rom-com. This read is a great little stocking filler not to be missed!!

Within the Snowed In with the Billionaire book by Lila Monroe, there are 2 short holiday stories - Snowed In with the Billionaire and Christmas with the Billionaire. These holiday rom-coms are good for a quick and easy read either together or separately around the holiday season.
I’d recommend at different times, as the stories do each have a fairly similar plot right from the initial encounter of the 2 MC’s through to those steamy scenes.
Both stories are dual POV’s.

Snowed In with the Billionaire: This story is about Paige the party planner and Ace the rocker turned music producer, who...you guessed it, get snowed in and Paige’s job turns into a vacation with a man who makes it known what his intentions are.

Christmas with the Billionaire: Jill’s an actress but unfortunately the job she went for didn’t happen, so now she’s off to waitress as a Christmas elf. At the party she just happens to run into the same producer she made a fool of herself in front of at her audition, but that all changes when the train home is delayed.

Lila Monroe never disappoints when it comes to FABULOUS romantic comedies. I’m a giant fan of holiday romances so I was SUPER EXCITED when I heard she was coming out with Christmas with the Billionaire. This holiday novella is chalked full of heart, passion, witty humor and emboldened characters.

I laughed my way through the pages as these characters’ antics threw me for a loop. They’re so unique, as was the story, that it kept me on my toes the whole way through. As always, the chemistry between our lovers is fiery. They light up the pages with their witty banter, sultry looks and forbidden attraction.

Their holiday novella is the perfect mixture of holiday cheer and romance. Lila Monroe is quickly becoming one of my go to authors for romantic comedies. Her books fill my heart and always leave me smiling. I highly recommend Christmas with the Billionaire when you need a break from the holiday bustle 💜🎄

Lila Monroe's holiday novella, Christmas With The Billionaire, is a sweet and spicy read. I powered through this light-hearted tale in one sitting!
Struggling actress, Jill, is a fiery red head. Her mediocre audition for a big Broadway production starts her day, and it ends with a rather demeaning waitressing gig. Could her day get worse? Absolutely, and in more than one way!
Christmas With The Billionaire is a little more spicy than it is sweet. The characters are engaging and the plot is realistic. Ms. Monroe excellently developed characters and gave her readers a well-developed plot in the short novella format, which is not easy to do. This fun read will definitely warm your heart, if not melt your snowman.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of the book.

Christmas with the Billionaire is a fun, quick, and sexy read. I'm quickly discovering that Lila Monroe is a sure thing when it comes to likable characters, fun and funny plots, and the perfect amount of steam. I loved Jill (the female lead) - she's definitely the type of woman that I'd want on my squad (is that still a thing?) and Oliver was a wonderful counterpart for her sassy personality. I enjoyed the family element (I'm really looking forward to Lila's new series starting in January, the first of which will feature Oliver's sister Hallie) and even though it's a novella length book, the side characters were good too. Looks like it's time to add another author to my "must read" list! 4 out of 5 wine glasses.

I’ve never read anything by Lila Monroe and I have to say she impressed me very much with this holiday novella. The story had me laughing from page one and I read the story in an hour. Everything just flowed and this author was able to hold and keep my interest while I read.

I loved how sassy and headstrong was and how she spoke her mind at all costs. Oliver is her perfect match and I loved the connection these two had throughout the story. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love holiday reads and this one was right up my alley and just what I needed to satisfy my holiday sweet tooth.

Well-written, sexy, and feisty! This charming story is a great feel-good read, perfect for the holiday season. The characters are likable and the dialogue is witty and fun. I loved Jill's spunk as she surprises the sexy Oliver over and over. These two are just so good together that you can't help but root for their happy ever after. Easily read in one sitting, this fast-paced, steamy tale is high on feels and fun and low on angst, making for a great bedtime read on a cold winter's night.

Between this and the other Monroe novella I just read, I think I enjoyed this one more as a whole. The ending of this one was more abrupt though and I just didn’t quite understand how Oliver pulled off his big gesture. Does he really just know everyone?

A nice, light holiday read.

Review can also be found on my site: https://roxannacross.com/2024/12/19/b...

This Christmas novella is a quick, sexy, and fun read written in alternate POVs between the two main characters: Jill Simon, a struggling actress looking for a big break that will land her on Broadway, and Oliver Gage, a big-shot producer who barely lifts an eyebrow during auditions yet still manages to crush dreams.

In this short ninety-five-page piece, Monroe brings to life these complex individuals. Jill can be hot-tempered and quick to judge, and Oliver can be reserved and blasé, which is quite the conundrum. Things get interesting when the two of them get snowed in upstate New York after a holiday party. Monroe’s laid it on thick with the fake dating, yet the hilarity of their over-the-top muffin bearing, sweet poohing, each other, or whatever ridiculous pet name they came up with somehow makes it work.

As in many novellas, the action is fast-paced, but the ending wraps up quickly as if Monroe was limited in her word count to get to the true ending she desired, in a rush to wrap the story in a neat, happy way as the formula demands it made it so it doesn’t read as genuine and leaves readers in a hollow mood at the end, making the entire reading experience a 2.5-star read.

I love this series of books. This book has potential. You met Jill in the previous book as a friend of McKenna. Jill has a disastrous audition in front of the hot playboy producer Oliver. Of course they get stuck together after this for the weekend and insta-Love ensues. Since this an extremely short novella (it stops at about page 100 of 139), the problem in their relationship (Jill is afraid that her getting the part in Oliver’s play and her dating him will sets tongues wagging) is solved quickly. I feel like they may have cut out a chapter or two. The finale is achieved with Oliver contacting Jill’s best friend to meet him at the ice rink. How did he know who her friend was and how to get in touch with her. If this book had been a bit longer and had developed the relationship and incorporated the friends into the story, it would have been a five star for me. I do think it is a bit ironic that this came out after the whole Weinstein casting couch scandal.

This story had some really funny moments, starting when she lost it at her audition when nobody was giving her the time of day. How many of us have had bad day piled on top of bad day and just snapped? Well, this was funny because of what came later. These funny moments were sprinkled quite nicely throughout the story. You'll have fun reading this one for the winter holiday if you enjoy romcom.

What that said, the story would have been so much better if it had gone a bit longer and developed the characters more. They also fell for each other pretty instantly in three days and didn't have an epilogue. So sad, I wanted more. That's why it didn't get the full star treatment.

A Great Little Novella

if you've already read the rest of the Lucky in Love series, this is a great little novella giving Jill (who was a friend of McKenna) her story. It also works as a stand alone. It's just as fun as Lila Monroe's other Rom-com style novels - great strong female lead, sexy guy, a little drama, some steamy hookups, and if course humour. My only complaint is I wish it was longer.
