The Hound and the Fury

Rate this book
A dog show has come to Pleasant Creek, and Liz Eckardt is hosting both two- and four-footed guests at the Olde Mansion Inn. Lucky for her; Liz’s old friend Amy is there to help handle the details. They’re decorating for Christmas, scenting the air with delicious treats and catching up on old times. A visit to the dog show seems like the perfect way to unwind after a busy day.

But fur is flying at the venue where the competition is being held. More than a few people are barking mad at one of the judges. It seems he has a predilection for pets of the toy variety, and the owners of the big dogs may not be getting a fair shake. When the judge goes belly-up, stabbed with Liz’s knife, Liz knows she must are into action. Someone’s committed murder in the first pedigree, but who?

Meanwhile, one of Liz’s guests has hightailed it out of town and the Pleasant Creek Police are on his trail. Chief Houghton has commanded Liz to stay away from the investigation, but she can’t seem to obey. Convinced her guest’s disappearance is not just a clever trick, she can’t help but nose around. Turns out the murdered man had more than one enemy willing to fight tooth and nail to see him dead–and some of them lie sleeping under Liz’s own roof.

Can Liz and her pack of pals, Amy, Beans, and the Material Girls, collar a criminal before more trouble is unleashed?

The Hound and the Fury is a thrilling mystery written by Sandra Orchard in the Amish Inn Mystery series. This author has an interesting writing style which really brings this story to life. We are back at the Old Mansion Inn just in time for the Christmas holiday season. Liz is trying to decorate for the holiday while hosting guest for the local dog show. When Liz decides to take a break and attend the dog show but when she arrives fur is flying. Contestants are more than a little upset with one of the judges and when he is found stabbed to death Liz knows she must help sniff out the person responsible. Can the responsible person be sleeping under Liz's roof. Will the police chief allow her to help solve this crime? As this mystery plays out the suspects become abundant which makes for solving this crime nearly impossible.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response and all opinions are my own. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.

Still really enjoying this pleasant series. This one had a beagle named Peanut in it which I found amusing because my favorite comic strip is called Peanuts and has a beagle as one of the main characters.

Intriguing and just a turn pager for me. These last two books in the Amish Mysteries Inn series has really stepped up their storytelling aspects. I really have been finding it hard to put the book down wanting to know what happened next and whose has done what and why.

Most of the books in the Amish Inn Mysteries have been pretty good, but "The Hound and the Fury" has been my favorite so far. Great storytelling, lots of suspects who aren't who they appear to be, and an interesting twist at the end make this one stand out in the series.
