63 Days later takes place after the novel WILD. This can be read as a stand alone story. However, it might be more enjoyable if you read WILD first.
Trigger Warning: Christmas music, trees, presents, and all around holiday cheer.
It’s been almost two years since Keegan and August escaped the Alaskan wilderness, and they finally get to celebrate their very first Christmas together.
But their plans of peace and quiet get turned upside down when Santa leaves more than just presents under the tree.
Georgia born and bred, I am an artist, a writer, and a general pain in the ass. I spend most of my days working on my next book or bettering my art. Writing is my identity and I love every minute of it. It's work, lots of work (sometimes I work 12+ hours a day and I never get a vacation) but I don't regret doing it. I currently share my house with a myriad of dogs, a few cats, a saltwater aquarium filled with coral and fish, as well as my partner who's great at giving hugs when the day's been rough. And of course, my editor and PA, who helps me keep life reasonably organized. At least so I won't walk out the door without wearing pants.
63 Days Later is book #1.5 in the Wild series by Adrienne Wilder. You really need to have read book one, Wild, to enjoy this to the fullest and to understand all these two men have been through to get where they are now!
It’s been close to two years since Keegan and August escaped Alaska. It’s nearly Christmas. Keegan, August and of course, Daisy, are spending it in their home in Virginia. August bought a nearly one hundred acre piece of property and had a cabin built on it. At least this time, it has running water, heat, air conditioning and electricity.
We get glimpses into what these two have dealt with to get where they are now and it wasn’t all easy. There were legal issues. Publicity issues. And for Keegan, acclimating into a world he hasn’t been a part of in a decade. But through it all, they have their love. I have to say here that the love these two share is so huge. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. I really don’t think either of these two men would ever survive without the other, they are so woven together.
This was such a wonderful way to wrap up things with these two. And get ready for plenty of Daisy cuteness. These two men will stay in my heart for a very long time. If you decide to read these, I hope you love them just as much.
All I can say is that this book came just on time. It was sweet, sexy, funny with a tiny bit of angst. I don't think I'll never get enough of August, Keegan and Daisy.
This book picks up 18 months and 63 days later with a pleasant surprise. We get more insight with how August and Keegan are doing after what they've been through in the book Wild. There are still some challenges for Keegan but with August's support, their relationship is just getting stronger and stronger. There is no doubt these two are totally devoted to one another. *sighs*
Simone and Barbara, you both told me about this book right after I read Wild. Who knows how long I would have remained clueless of it's existence if not for you guys. Thank you, my friends! You know how badly I NEEDED this book! xoxo
“Have I told you I love you today?” August sighed against Keegan's cheek. He held August tighter. “Every time you look at me.”
It’s a short story and since I don’t like books under 100 pages (and normally don’t read them) so you can guess how much I enjoyed it and gave it a five star! I just loved this couple with their pet or should I say pets!!! Wow, I LOVE this Daisy! She is an adorable wolf! When I was reading this novella I had smile on my face, the whole time! These two characters are one of my favorite characters and I hope we hear more stories about them! I’ll never get tired of them! Told in dual POV, 3rd person. It’s a "Wild" novella and should be read in order. I really loved it and hope you enjoy it as well!
Having loved Wild I was so excited when I discovered this Christmas short featuring Keegan and August. And while you don’t have to have read Wild I’d highly recommend it.
I loved this book, my only real complain with Wild was how suddenly it ended so this gives us the extra time we need with these two fabulous characters.
It’s Eighteen months and 63 days after Wild and Keegan and August are living a quiet life together. Grateful everyday for each other and the life they have but that life is about to get a lot more exciting.
After I finished WILD all I wanted was to jump right into this novella. I wasn't satisfied by the ending of WILD. I really wanted to read more about this hot and sweet couple. After everything they've been through, they needed a better closure. At least, that's what I hoped to get here. And I ended up disappointed.
The beautiful cover made me think it's a Christmas sweet story. Well it isn't. Not really. And I just wanted more. Keegan and August didn't even spend Christmas together and even if we do get super hot scenes, I feel it wasn't enough.
The title also made me think we'd follow the adventures from WILD, 63 DAYS LATER. And again no.
Seriously. Any fan of WILD needs to get on this sequel/epilogue stat!
I love me a good established couple update, and this did not shirk on the feels nor the smex factor.
Keegan and August are slowly acclimating to their life back to civilization, but some days are better than others with the occasional setback here and there. What stands out though is how they show their love to each other in all the ways. It’s intense, it’s desperate, it made me swoon.
Go on… don’t mind me sitting over here basking in the glow! If you haven’t read WILD, what are you waiting for?
Adorable. That is all I can say. Utterly and totally lovable with a serious twist on the side. Loved gruff Keegan with the soft centre and August is just the sweetest guy ever! One of the best Christmas novellas this year!
I dare anyone to resist THAT! ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
For all the fan of WILD : recommended !!! My biggest niggle about "Wild" ? The abrupt ending of the epic and raw romance between August and Keegan.!!
And finally : I got it. As if the author read my mind. Confirmation that August and Keegan love each other and that, even if all is not sunshine and roses, they are strong together.
**** This novella is fantastic ! **** It's fun, laughter and deep loving. 6'9" Keegan had lived alone in the wilds of Alaska, when Augusts plane crashed. Keegan saved him. Their adventure and romance are in the book "WILD."
Now, two years later, they live in Virginia, on 100 acres in a new cabin. August discovers Daisy under the tree with three puppies, then eight ! When Daisy becomes ill, they find a "wolf vet" and it's a tough time, but the Doc is great.
Keegan and August's love is even stronger and their sexy times are super sizzling. You'll be thrilled to catch up with this dynamic couple, but it can stand alone, too. What will they do with the eight wolf hybrid pups?
I thought the fence men were cute, and the couch episode is hilarious. This is wonderfully written, simply lovely, and all you need for an uplifting holiday tale. Free on KU. Highly recommended. ENJOY ! ==============
This is a sweet and sexy novella that catches us up with August, Keegan and Daisy “roughly eighteen months and 63 days” after the events in WILD. The blurb says it could work as a standalone, and it could, there’s a full story here, but I would absolutely recommend reading WILD first, not just because it’s fantastic, but you would have a better understanding of just how far Keegan has come and just how much this little family has been through.
The men are living on their property in Virginia and are as in love as ever. Daisy is still with them and still surprising them and keeping them on their toes. Although August seems to have mostly put what happened in Alaska behind him, he has incorporated some of the way they lived in Alaska into their new life. Keegan has settled comfortably into their home for the most part, but he is still struggling to acclimate to certain aspects of being back in civilization. Being out around other people is still difficult and can result in a panic attack and some guilt and nightmares still persist. One thing that he is sure of is his love for August and the lengths he would go to in order to keep him happy.
The story, told in alternating points of view, begins in the days leading up to Christmas when an unexpected gift arrives under the tree. Keegan and August have differing opinions on how to handle things, with Keegan’s views shaped by all the time he spent in the Alaskan wilderness and August’s by his overall loving nature. When it all boils down, Keegan would do anything to keep August happy. The two bicker and have make-up sex and do what’s necessary to keep their family together even when things get overwhelming and yes, there are a few tense moments here.
If you fell in love with Keegan, August and Daisy in WILD you will adore this story and the peek at how the men are doing. It’s a delightful read that is funny, touching and hot, and just made me like these characters even more.
I was provided a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
Oh, yeah! As soon as I finished WILD I wanted more of these characters, especially Daisy. Wild was such a fantastic story and I fell in love with August and Keegan - they came together under the most extreme of circumstances and survived the wilderness of Alaska as well as the revenge seeking bad guy (gangster? Mafia? Eh, bad guy works). After all these men suffered I wanted to see them together with just quiet time, where they could relax and not have the pressure of survival constantly hanging over their heads.
63 Days Later: A Holiday Tail does give me more of them and Daisy together, but all is not quiet and relaxing. Keegan is still adjusting to living "free" and suffers from anxiety attacks when he needs to go out in public. August physically is fine but he never had his leg repaired so he walks with a limp and the cold weather still hurts him sometimes. But overall he is doing good - except for his worry over Keegan. And Daisy, ahhh, sweet Daisy. Such a precious girl!!! I don't know if I should reveal what happens. The blurb tells you it's been 2 years since Keegan and August left Alaska, so the title is not a reference to how much has time has past since Wild ended. Nope, 63 days is about something else. Can you guess what it is?
There was soooo much cuteness in this story and I was all warm and fuzzy during those parts. When Keegan suffers from anxiety I hurt for him. You get the full gamut of emotions here and if you loved Wild, you won't be sorry to read this. In fact, if you are like me you were demanding and not-so-patiently-waiting for more of these characters.
This does have a very nice HEA and this isn't a short story like you might think, there is actually a full plot and story here which is so much more than I expected! And, haha, I am still not satisfied. I want more! Leave it to AW to make me feel this way. Sometimes there are characters you just don't want to say goodbye to, and for me, Keegan, August and Daisy are it. So I will say, "until we meet again." :) <3
Every single thing I could have wanted for August and Keegan *and Daisy*. This was sweet, ridiculously hot, romantic and funny. And more than anything else, happy. *sigh*
Perfect follow-up to the original story. I absolutely loved how well AW portrayed the panic and distress Keegan experienced just being in the middle of civilization (even 2+ years later) and how that "fight" was almost more traumatizing to him than facing a bear, wolves, the Alaskan weather and drug-dealing kingpins out to kill him.
One relatable note: I can totally tell that AW is from the South because all through the book she had her characters using "buggies" while shopping. I get so much crap about saying that because evidently it's a "shopping cart" or simply "cart" almost everywhere else (unless in the UK where it's a "trolley" I guess).
More lighthearted than WILD with less traumatic events. But the love between August and Keegan shines in their every action, gesture, and word. Almost makes you yearn a love like that.
Because Keegan, despite not being a fan of Daisy or comfortable displaying his affection for the wolf, does everything in his power (including an almost anxiety attack while alone at the pet store) to make August happy and accommodate his whimsies. August, for his part, does at time seem spoiled but his love and affection are what Keegan needs the most.
And both of them caring for Daisy and her 8 puppies is an example of funny moments, worry and love.

Cute little short. Aw and puppies!!! Loved seeing the guys again. Though it had been many months, Keegan was still struggling with some things, but they were sweet and I was happy to see them doing well together. Did I mention the puppies?! Keegan is too sweet and remains my favorite.
4.25 stars from me for this little Xmas novella from Adrienne. Loved the catch up with August and Keegan, and especially loved what Daisy brought to the party. 💜💜
OMG! What an epic disaster and disappointment this was. Not only is it completely unnecessary but it is also nothing it appears to be for the reader. It continues the vagueness of the first book's Epilogue. These two are a year and a half down the road (which is not fitting with the title) from re-entering society as we know it and many things have changed for them but we get nothing but vague mentions of these major events for a couple that the reader WANTS to read about. HELLO! I would have loved the details of August proposing to Keegan...or how about their wedding? Yeah, I'm thinking that's also something the readers would have loved to read about. How about the details of them building their new home out in the wilderness? So many things would have been nice to read about our MC's new life together. Unfortunately, don't hold your breath for those wonderful scenes because you will end up passed out on the floor first.
This is marketed as a "Christmas" story but no part of the book calendar actually falls on Christmas Day and it was practically uneventful in the couple's life. We get a few sprinkles of details but if you blink...you'll miss them. In fact, Keegan and August really aren't the main characters to this story...Daisy and her 8 puppies are the stars of the show. And as much of a dog lover as I am and as much as I REALLY loved Daisy in book #1, I wasn't looking to read a story mainly about her when I picked up this book. Everything about this is a misleading hot mess. Gone are the adventures we read about in the main book and while our MC's are happy, we have no clue how that all came to be but we do have the puppy adventures from birth to finding a new home.
So, my advice: Skip this story and move on to your next reading adventure. This one is a complete dud.

When I saw that this book existed everything else stopped. I love Keegan & August and catching up with them was a perfect little treat! This story takes place approximately 2 years after Keegan & August left their wild Alaska behind and have now made a home in Vermont. Everything is going well for these guys and they are getting ready to celebrate Christmas. One morning there is something under the tree that is a complete surprise...it seems Daisey has been keeping a secret from her Dads.
Once the secret is out these guys are in for a lot of late nights and sharp little teeth! I loved it! I mean who doesn't love a cute little puppy, or eight, wolf-hybrid pups as it may be. August goes into full daddy mode. Keegan, although he growls a lot about it, he would do anything for August - including tackle a pet store during the holiday season for everything a newborn (puppy) needs (and lots of what they don't need).
The romance in this book is syrupy sweet and it's awesome! These guys deserve their HEA and they have not forgotten how to tear up the sheets. Hot. As. Hell. Trust me they leave nothing to the imagination!
Overall, 5 scorchin' hot stars and a great holiday romance with two of my favorite guys!
What more could you possibly want for the Christmas season? This was a very sexy (lots of sex) and cute (lots of puppies) novella. It may have even overdosed on both counts...but that's what holidays are for, right? Over indulgence???? If so, I need to unbutton my pants for a little extra breathing room.
My one suggestion is to read this soon after reading WILD, it's precursor. I left much too long of a gap between the two and felt a bit removed for the beginning of the story. This is NOT a standalone story. I had forgotten much of the story and the characters (shame on me since it was a 5 star read!!).
But here I am, memory jogged, belly full, and happy to have read it!
So, the initial novel was thrilling and serious. This was mostly slap-stick. In the middle, it took on some seriousness and I enjoyed that, but I almost stopped reading before I got there. The first third of the book was a bunch of sex scenes interspersed with August acting like an oblivious airhead while Keegan paid the price. meh. The middle was good and then it ended with that sitcom canned laugh moment when August does something really over-the-top dumb and silly and Keegan takes compromising pics and everyone laughs. Extra meh. I expect more from this author.
Awww!! This was such a cute little tale, a small add on to Keegan and August's story. We get to see them living their happily ever after in this, and it's a couple weeks before Christmas when they can't find Daisy.
But Keegan finds her hiding under and behind the Christmas tree, with a surprise in store for them.
So this is August and Keegan dealing with that and having to deal with a scare that turns out okay with Daisy.
I loved getting to see a little bit more of their life together after all the shit that happened in WILD, and how they're dealing with being semi back in civilization. Keegan still has trouble with big crowds, but he is working on it, and August and Keegan are so wonderful together, so sweet - and hot, I greatly appreciated the few passionate, hot sex scenes we got between these two ;) - and their love for Daisy - especially August's - is still so adorable.
Also, there is a super hilarious scene near the end and I loved the infusion of humor in this when he don't usually get happiness + humor with Adrienne Wilder, at least not a lot of it.
These two are living their lives together and are making the most of it and it is wonderful and adorable and I loved it. This is a definite read if you read and enjoyed WILD :D
If you have already read WILD, you will surely want to catch up with Keegan and August now that they have been back in civilization for a while. And, if you haven’t read WILD yet, I highly recommend you do so in order to see how far these two have come.
This was a really sweet update on our fabulous couple now that they have recovered a bit and have started to move on with their new lives. They have the wonderful wolf, Daisy, by their sides, but she has brought home a little surprise – puppies! Much of this story centers around August taking care of them and Keegan as well as he struggles with his anxiety of being around people again. Surviving the wilds of Alaska for a decade was easier than the trips August has to make to the bustling pet store.
They continue to be more comfortable living with minimal material things, and it really adds so much to their relationship. It is so easy to see how much they love and care for each other and that Keegan would do anything he in his power to make August happy. I loved Keegan’s solution to the growing family/space issue, and it made everyone happy in the end.
I absolutely loved WILD, and getting to catch another glimpse of these guys was icing on the cake. Add in a happy holiday, and of course, cuddly puppies, and it’s a win win for me!
