Not my favorite book of the series.. BUT I FUCKING KNEW ABOUT NOT TRUSTING SETH.

Chaos is the fifth installment of The Four Horsemen. I honestly have no idea how many books there are in this series but I feel like they are just getting a smidge boring and a bit dramatic. Portia was so annoying in this book and it just ended up frustrating me. She turned into such a thirsty and whiny girl who was jealous because Vee had the attention of all the guys. Ugh, eye rolling to the extreme while reading this book guys!

Then there's Vee, who I thought was getting closer to the guys.. but then this stupid drama was kind of drifting them apart. I think it's all because of what happened to Joss and how this whole situation is getting a bit more serious. Yeah, they might be able to die and not come back and I can totally see how that might affect everything.

However, I just hate the stupid pettiness and drama between these guys. Again, I was frustrated and just wanted this book to end. I have no idea what the next book or the rest of the series is going to give me. Maybe a heart attack.. a migraine.. or something else. Who knows.

Overall, I hate Seth and Portia right now. I need the guys and Vee to get on the same page. I want to know what the fuck is going on with Logan and all the other mysterious stuff. Just looking for answers before this series is over.

I’m so bored. These were supposed to be 🌶️… Where’s the spice? I won’t be finishing this series even though the plot twist at the end of this book was decently intriguing.

There’s something ego-boosting about being surrounded by men who other women in the room are drawn to, and having the guys completely oblivious. - Verity/ Vee
Whoa. Stop there. Nobody ‘shares’ me. In case you hadn't noticed, I'm the one who calls the shots. None of them would touch me without consent. - Verity/ Vee

Right well this series just took a serious swerve into WTFville. Did I still enjoy it? Yes. Would I still recommend it to readers of romance, especially polyandry? Absolutely. Am I going to stop reading? Hell no. But we did take a massive sideways leap with little explanation. I did have problems with parts of the writing. Some parts felt a bit like lazy writing. Word for word lines from the previous books are used again but that may be a conscious decision given the relationship of the characters involved. This book is a mind spin in context. So many changes may be too much. I question how it was done were there warning markers?

Now the rest is really for people who have already read the book or at least know the characters in play.

Another amazing book in this enchanting series. I honestly can't get enough of Vee and her pony boys. Lisa has executed the perfect balance, moving the plot along at a steady, consistent pace while also giving the right amount of focus to development of the relationships. Plenty of heart-pounding moments and sexy times. Love, loved it. I never want this series to end. I'm completely addicted. One of the best reverse harem series out there right now, in my opinion.

The fifth book of this amazing series where the author has managed to breathe new life into this very old biblical legend of the Four Horsemen. If you haven't already read the other books, Legacy, Bound, Hunted & Guardians I would strongly recommend doing so, before moving on to this one.

***I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. The book was so great that I just had to pick up a copy on the release day***

description

Chaos continues the story of Verity (Vee) the fifth Horseman (technically Horsewoman) and the four Pony Boys.

Heath aka Death
Ewan aka Pestilence
Joss aka Famine
Xander aka War

This story picks up right where Guardian left us on a nasty cliff hanger.
The Pony Boys and vee has never been so threatened or lost in their fight against this faceless adversary. This unknown deity seems to be using the Pony Boys powers against themselves and for the first time the Pony Boys are faced with their mortality. What if Heath is too late? Or even worse, what if he’s the next one to go? So far Vee has displayed some of their powers, but it doesn’t seem like she has the resurrection skills.

I’d love to say, that I wasn’t a bit afraid how it was going to play out, but I can’t. I’ve been suspicious of Vee for some time now, so I was dreading finding out more about her true role in all of this. My guess was that her roll would be like a Joker in a set of cards. The ultimate backup that can fill any spot, should the needed card be missing. .

As the bigger picture starts to reveal itself it becomes clear that the five needs as many allies as possible and they can’t afford to push any away.

I can honestly say that I was extremely excited for this book!
📚Firstly, it was my first time as an ARC reader (for those who don’t know what it means, like I didn’t until now, that means I received an advanced copy of the book in exchange for my honest review)
📚Secondly, the enormous cliff-hanger from book #4 was a real nail biter and finally my suspicions were proved right. Without giving away too much information I can reveal that all the Pony Boys are finally playing ball and there’s formal wear involved.

My biggest and only complaint is, that the books are too short. But honestly that's just the impatience in me that doesn't want to wait for the next one, it has nothing to do with Lisa’s amazing writing! Readers be aware: this instalment finishes on another cliff hanger!

description

Full disclosure: the book contains steamy content but I think LJ Swallow manages to walk the line and keep it from being sleazy. The sex scenes are well written and suit the moments, it doesn't seem forced and the words are well chosen.

The Pony Boys and Vee are back! Chaos reigns. They have never been so threatened, so lost. They have never faced an opponent like this; one they don't understand, one that seems to use their own powers against them, one that may be stronger than they are. For the first time, the Four Horseman are unsure of themselves. They are drawn to their Fifth, Truth, but they still don't fully trust her role. Is she meant to help them or destroy them? Their hesitancy and doubt hurt Vee and make her question herself. As the bigger picture starts to make sense they realize that they need to mend fences with allies and possibly align with former enemies. The world depends on them for survival and they need Vee. Is she truly their's?

For a series to be successful it needs a few key components. It needs to be based on a good idea first and foremost. The characters all need to connect with the audience. And ideally, it needs to get better as it goes along to keep the reader hooked. The Four Horsemen has a brilliant basis, modern-day biblical horsemen set in the paranormal world of fae, vampires, etc. Brilliant! The characters are superb. I dare anyone to not fall in love with at least one of the guys or Vee. Their characters keep evolving, showing more depth, and becoming more dear each book. And this story just keeps getting more and more intense. But it's not just intense. It's funny, sexy, sweet, emotional. I am actually late for New Year's celebrations because I couldn't put the book down! I don't plan to give any true details in this review. Each reader deserves to enjoy this story without any possible spoilers. I will say Chaos gives us the answers we have been waiting for and the relationships we have been wanting. We know the enemy but we don't know what comes next. We have our five but do we? The intensity, the passion, the unknown make this an exceptional book in a fantastic series. It does end with everything hanging in the balance. The Apocolypse could be imminent. Chaos could destroy the world of humans, demons, and the fae. Verity could be the only hope or she could be the final piece for destruction. Descent, I want you now!

Spoilers below! If you haven't read the previous books, stop reading!

So, Guardians ended with a dead Joss and a panicked Vee. Chaos picks up right there and the gang begins to piece together what is happening. The guys are being targeted by their own power. Joss looked starved to death (famine) and Ewan had a disease of some sort (pestilence). Having put this together, they realize they need to reach out and get some help. Reenter Syd. She agrees to help get info from the Collector for a price. Then, the horsemen seize an opportunity to get back into the Fae Queen's good graces. Rebuilding their alliance with her leads to an invite to a corporate retreat in Scotland. The Horsemen and Vee want to see what is really going on at this place. Surprisingly, they get there and find a demon girl, and Logan, the Fae Queen's guard. The gang knows something is up. Through it all, Xander and Ewan are sure Seth is hiding something. Turns out, its something HUGE!

By this book, the only guy Vee hasn't slept with is Ewan. Ewan is a bit concerned that something bad will happen and he has been delaying. This leads to tension between Vee and Ewan for most of the book because they aren't sure how to move forward. Seth's interference doesn't help either.

This book, like Guardians ends with a HUGE bang. A new demon that is trying to destroy the world is targeting the horsemen and he has the power to topple them. The horsemen face a decision: team up with another major demon bad guy who can help them get the info from the Collector translated and save the world, or continue on their own and try to save the world from demons. Chaos has descended on the horsemen and this time, they might not survive.

Yes, I’m using the same review over and over; my thoughts haven’t changed.

First off, eyyy, another author going by LJ; high five! *gives myself the high five*

Good start, I suppose; it could’ve been worse. The characters were decent enough, not that terrible; that may change in the future, though. I could, however, do without all the guys instantly liking the main girl, though; it made me think of Ouran High for a moment.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend - Twists within twists for our Horsemen.

It was hard to wait for this book, the fifth in The Four Horsemen series, and LJ Swallow did not disappoint, but then, for me, she never has.

Picking up from the particularly shocking end in Guardians, Chaos carries the momentum well as various theories are getting thrown around as to who it is wanting to take the Horsemen out, and bring about the opening of The Portals. And whoever it is just might be attaining their goals a little quicker than The Five realise. It’s a race to ask the right questions, find the answers, form the right allegiances, and, those whom they thought were enemies, suddenly become unlikely allies. When someone they’ve spent time trying to eradicate in the past suddenly shows up wanting an allegiance with them, telling the boys, that without Vee at her most powerful, they are all in trouble, then, they really are all in trouble!

I’m reminded of the saying, The enemy of my enemy, is my friend, and the craziest of alliances need to be formed, and promises made, to deal with a threat larger than them all - Chaos, he who predates all of them. He who scares them into a treatise previously unheard of. And, he who means that they are all relying on the Fifth to have reached her full capacity, and without whom they will surely perish.

Players are starting to reveal their hands, and the momentum is really picking up in this book. At the end, I was completely chomping at the bit to find out what happens in the next two instalments which means, that scoring this book anything less than 5 Stars is blasphemy!

Holy Moly! I can't even begin to try and explain anything about this next instalment, in the exciting and gripping Four Horsemen series. I mean, if you haven't already read the first four parts, what are you waiting for?

You wouldn't think after four seriously intense parts, that there would be anything else, that could be thrown in the mix for Vee and the gang. But shocks are still hard and fast coming. More hot and heavy heat, more nail biting and more surprises. With one huge shocker thrown in the end for good measure, and nope I actually did not see it coming.

There is no down time in this story, be prepared for full on action from page 1 to the end. We're finding out far more, and starting to get some answers on everything going on. Also the most anticipated moment of all, Vee and Evan! I'm not going to spoil anything on that one, but wow!!

Seriously I think these epic endings are what make me so excited. I love wondering what will be thrown at the end of each instalment. I mean I know some people don't like cliffs, but these books are released so close to one another, you have just enough time to process and the next one is out. And Chaos ends on biggest shocker cliff yet!! Seriously jaw dropping. I'm so excited for the next one.

Hello again you magnificent Horsemen,

I knew shit was going to go down, and enemies would show their faces and ...well I wasn't wrong.

Chaos it seems is more than just the title of the book and damn it's good.
Our boys and Vee are back in with resident Queen Fae Portia, and set about unmasking the big bad that's threatening both them and the human world.
We get some answers, but others remain just out of reach for us.

A visit to Scotland brings with it a satisfying blast from the past ( think book 1) and things heat up with our resident hold out..I won't lie I cheered a little.

Meanwhile traditional enemies join forces in an effort to halt the coming evil and our 5th horsemen in her usual style has taken it upon herself to fix it all.

Can't wait to see how this pans out..bring on the next book

Oh wow is this story really starting to pick up pace. We're now starting to see who all the real players are in the story and finally, yes finally, the big bad is revealed and whilst I'd already kind of guessed who it was, I hadn't guessed what it is! It's really starting to get exciting now and I can't wait to read the next book. I still have so many unanswered questions and more have arisen after reading Chaos. I'm loving how Verity and the four horsemen are also starting to bond and become more open with each other as I feel they really need to be a stronger unit together to beat this.
I really, really enjoyed reading this book and I really, really can't wait to read the next book. Exciting times have come in this series and I'm loving the way the author is building it all together. Really is a great read.

OMG! Be forewarned there is a huge cliffhanger, so Ms. Swallow HAS to publish the next book in this series soon!
Chaos is the 5th book in the Horsemen series. The books keep getting better and better. I thought “Guardians” was a mindblower of a book but “Chaos” surpasses it. So many mysteries, adventures, and intrigue. Some twists and turns I didn’t see coming and theories that I had were confirmed.
The first couple of chapters are very nerve-wracking as we find out whether Joss lives or dies. After that there is a magical night club. A misbehaving teenager. Ewan still being mad at Vee. And a great snowball fight. The whole book is action packed and I couldn’t believe it when I got to 100%.
There is also some great romance in the book, with Vee getting closer to the guys, even as someone whispers doubts in her ear.

Good

**WARNING! CLIFFHANGER!** it’s a fairly mild one as they go, just more of the “what next?” type.
Vee and her guys have to deal with the repercussions of previous events, all while they strive to get closer. Secrets are slowly being revealed…

The fifth installment of this book picks up right after book four’s cliffhanger (thank goodness) and ends on a mild cliffhanger, as we wonder just what certain people are up to, and why.
There are some interesting revelations in this one, and the smoke is definitely beginning to clear- both for the horsemen, and for the reader.
Don’t worry though, there is still a few spicy moments thrown in with the story- so whichever is your preference, this book has it all!

An enjoyable and entertaining continuation of the story, for lovers of paranormal fantasy and RH.

Things just keep heating up and not just between Vee and The Pony Boys! They've discovered a traitor right in their midst who's been doing his best to divide and conquer. With the guys working with unexpected help what will we see take place in the next book!? Intrigue, suspense and passions run amuck in this edition to a very page turning series ♡♡♡♡ Finally we see Vee and Ewan get closer but with quite the unexpected outcome. The next book can not be releases soon enough! Bravo to Ms. Swallow for a truly engrossing and magical series!! This will tug upon your heartstrings but also keep you wanting more ♡♡♡♡

Chaos is the 5th installment in The Four Horsemen series, and they must be read in order. I've been reading this series from the beginning, and as I think I said in a previous book's review I enjoy the romance parts more than the urban fantasy (UF) parts of the series. Because a majority of this installment was the ongoing UF mystery of the series, it is so far my least favorite of the series. If you have already been reading this series, and like the UF mystery, you will really enjoy this one as well. I definitely am still looking forward to how the series wraps up, and seeing more of the Pony Boys, but this book was just middle of the road for my tastes.

An explosive read!

Questions will be answered...
Trust will be rebuilt...
And the true threat to the world will be revealed...

Wow! Just wow...that ending! Another explosive hit in this stunning, chaotic read!

Tensions are mounting. Chaos is coming. The Horsemen/woman are caught in the middle - who can they trust? Who can they believe?

I love how Joss breaks the tension between all of them - his humour knows no bounds!

A great ending that leaves you reeling and aching for more.

Full of the Horsemen/woman, supernatural creatures, truths, chaos, adventures, mystery, suspense, betrayal and love.

Perfect for readers of paranormal reverse harem romances/urban fantasy.

Oh WOW!!! I was pulled in from the beginning! Fabulous paranormal/fantasy world, I absolutely love this series of books, the action starts slowly and builds, The characters are well defined early on and blossom throughout the series, you can feel the tension building between the main characters early in the series which develop wonderfully as each book progresses. Very well written storey. There are no cliff hangers as such but each book always leaves you wanting more so be warned though once you start reading this series you won’t be able to put the books down so be prepared for some binge reading.

I can not get enough of this series! I love the twist we just received I was starting to question Seth and why he acts the way he does but had mostly left it at him being stir crazy and frustrated by his situation. Did he kill his friends because they were in to him? That would explain why there was no evidence of him leaving with them in the things found in the storage unit. Where is vee? Is she safe? I hope ewan doesn't blame himself and that he is okay after the beating he took. What is going to happen with the horsemans past lives flashing in on them. I can't wait to see where this goes from here!!

Chaos is the next installment of LJ Swallow's The Four Horsemen series. It is packed with suspense, combustible chemistry, answers as well as many questions as to what will happen to the Four Horemen. It is written in such a way that had me burning through the pages to find out what would happen next. As they search for the truth behind what has happened between the demon and fae, more is unveiled.

I cannot wait to see what happens next in this series. LJ Swallow needs to come out with the next book in this series ASAP!!!

Oh man, this story just keeps getting more and more awesome! Now that more things are being answered I love seeing how the dots are connecting! Man I just knew Seth was a guy to be watched! I am very interested in seeing how things continue to progress with Vee and the guys now that certain things seem to be completed. I definitely can't wait to see what the other guys think of what each other learned at the end of this one! The next book is definitely going to be difficult to be patient for! :D

Sorry, but this didn't do it for me. The book felt like a repeat of the 3rd and 4th installment just with changing bed partners. The progress in the "investigation" is ridiculous. The four Horsemen are running in circles. They only find clues by accident or if they are forced on them. Why would War be leading the investigation? He clearly has no people skills or any sleuthing talent. After finishing the book I'm rather frustrated. The series started off so nicely, but I doubt I will read book number 6.

Finally we start to get some answers to all the puzzles surrounding the five horsemen and i cant wait to see where this goes.

I knew i was right about Seth he was just too shady to not have been anything else. This reveal sets up the next book nicely and now that Vee is fully connected with her powers it will be interesting to see why she is here and what she can do.

A few moments that were slightly unbelievable along with some pointless scenes (snowballs anyone?) but quite satisfied with this installment in the series.

this is my second slow and low burn reverse harem. The books are all mini books as i call them around 200 pages and when it ends it is a shocker like wait no where is the book. It also reads like you are picking up any of the books in random order so the small book rehashes previous books which really takes away from how small the story is in general. This book has fae, fae magic dealers, a fairy princess and the overall story of is Chaos actually good? We get another MF scene and I feel the road to harem is going to be a slow battle but i cant wait!

Another exciting book in this fantastic series, the story continues from the last book and things are getting more fraught and intense for Vee and her pony boys. With more excitement and danger and twists and turns this book kept me glued to the page and left me wondering what is going to happen next, this is possibly the most thrilling book in the series so far and I need the next book as a matter of urgency

Finally, Chaos is revealed and it’s exactly who I thought it was. I never liked Seth anyways. I just don’t like how powerful he is. I’m worried that Chaos will find Vee before the guys do. I really loved the part where Ewan and she join together, finally!! I’m so ready to see what awesome new powers she has and how strong they all are together. Each book is better and I can’t wait for the next book: Descent!!! Absolutely love this series and recommend it!!!

Action packed!

Wow! You definitely need to read this series in order. Chaos picks up where Guardians left off and we find out if Joss lives. Vee and the guys are still trying to solve the mystery, and are getting closer and closer. We find out who is behind it all, and end with another big cliffhanger.

What I love about this series is that each book is a good mix of action, humor, fun, and of course romance. I can’t wait to see what happens in Descent!
