After serving five years of a ten-year sentence for a crime I didn't commit, coming home after being vindicated should be my triumph. All I want is the life I was supposed to have as the once golden boy of this town — a thriving farm, a strong family, and a house full of kids. I guess I should have learned by now that nothing is fair, and I'll have to work just as hard to make it on the outside as I did to survive in prison.
The fields are fallow, my house is falling down around my nearly catatonic father, and my ex-girlfriend is somebody else's wife now. But I'm not giving up. I'll replant the crops, fix the house, and find a wife. Not in that order, because a man has needs, and mine have been denied too long.

The quirky, extra-curvy waitress at the diner could use someone looking out for her, and I need a favor in return. Starting with a baby.

This farmer is about to take a wife.

I hope she's ready for me.

Author's Confession: Well, there's a lot of plowing and seeding on the farm, yeah? Prepare yourself accordingly. (If you like alpha hero, bbw heroine, insta-everything set in a small town you are set.)

Brill Harper is a pseudonym. Like…a secret identity. By day she’s Clark Kent, writing romance books for young adults and grownups. By night, she’s Brill Harper writing unfailingly filthy, yet super sweet books, that would make her alter ego blush.

She especially likes to writes book about quirky, awkward heroines and alpha bad boys. Well, except that they are really alphamallows once they fall in love. Seriously--these heroes only have one weakness, and it's sticky, sweet love. They don't let anything stand in the way of taking what belongs to them. Ooey-gooey marshmallow hearts in big, burly dominating dudes. What's not to love about that?

Brill's books are filthy/sweet for when you're in the mood for something a little over the top. Okay, a lot over the top. Sorry, not sorry.

Boone was the town golden boy until he is thrown in jail for a crime he didn't commit.
Madeline is just scraping by, basically alone in life. Together, they provide the acceptance and understanding they both desperatly need.

I liked Boone. For him, life stood still while in prison, but outside, it went on. His girlfriend married his high school friend, his mother died, his father was wasting away along with the family farm. Instead of feeling sorry for himself for being deprived of the last 5 years of his life, he manned up and took control. Part of that included the clumsy waitress from the diner that he couldn't keep his mind off of.

Madeline knew what it was like for Boone, having been the daughter of the town "crazy guy". She knew what it felt like to be stared at and judged. She was alone, working for her foster parents in order to live above their garage. Boone swoops in and offers her what she's always wanted but her rough life has made trusting people hard.

- no cheating
- no om drama
- no ow drama - I was afraid that Madeline would be second best to his old girlfriend. He makes it perfectly clear that she's not, even stating his love for her is so much more.
- no violence of any nature
- steamy
- hero celibate 5 years, virgin heroine
-ok epilogue but we definitely needed more details.

Based on the title I thought I’d be getting a steamy instalove novella… which I did. The MMC was protective but not OTT obsessive, the FMC was scared to let herself want a real relationship, cue lots of hero in pursuit vibes. This really hit the spot for me, as instalove novellas go.

But I didn’t expect the *feels*. Both characters had interesting backstories. Boone with his golden boy turned outsider status (being wrongfully convicted of a crime in a small town will do that to you). Madeline had a terrible childhood courtesy of a bad family situation, and was still struggling to make ends meet. This part of the story stayed pretty surface level (as expected for a novella), but the breadcrumbs made me really want a full length version of this book.

I hate when authors think it’s acceptable to reshape the story from a MF to an MM (or vice-versa) story. It shows their lack of care for their own story, so why should we care?

In five years, a lot can change, and it has, everything has for Boone. The once golden boy of his small hometown was sentenced to ten years in prison for a crime he didn't commit, and the people that once rooted for him in football games, turned their backs on him believing the worst. Halfway through his sentence, his innocence was proven and the person truly guilty took his place. Now, he's home, what's left of it that is. His family's farm needs work, and a lot of it, his dad is still mourning his wife after three years and is drinking away his pain, and the residents avoid him, but this time out of guilt.

Madeline is waitressing at the local diner, though she sucks at it, seriously. She's always been an outcast, thanks to her dad's outspoken ways regarding religion, and forcing Madeline to join in from a young age, which was right after her mom ran, eager to get away from the man. She sees Boone, the guy she'd had a girly crush on despite him being seven years older, and feels bad for all he's suffered, and still is, thanks to the small minded people around them. When he sits at her table, and isn't put off my her obvious natural awkwardness, she takes the time to actually talk, not shying away from what happened to him.

Two months, and numerous weekly visits, later, Boone's interest in Madeline has grown into an obsession. Though he worries that at twenty she's too young for him, and that she deserves better, he doesn't want anyone else. Not even his feelings for his ex-girlfriend, his high school sweetheart, can compare to how deeply embedded in his heart Madeline has become. When he realizes, though he knew all along it's what he really wanted, that he and Madeline can help each other out, he doesn't hesitate to start the preparations to make her his wife.

But old doubts are hard to fight, especially when Madeline is already insecure due to her abnormally harsh upbringing, and the fear that she'll lose Boone one day, him coming to the revelation that she isn't what, or who, he truly needs. Now Boone, having fallen fast and hard for his wife, must help her understand that he needs her, in all ways. That she is his everything.

Can Madeline let go of her doubts and embrace the life Boone is trying to give her? Will Boone ever feel as if he's truly free, and vindicated with his proof of innocence? Will Boone's dad become the man he once was again? Will these two get a HEA?

One-click now and follow along as a man and woman, both trapped by prisons, literally and figuratively, not of their own making, take a chance on one another, on happiness. For those concerned with safety, Boone has been celibate for five years, and stays that way until he and Madeline are married. He was never a manwhore, having been devoted to his now ex-girlfriend, throughout high school, until she left him following his arrest. As for Madeline, she's a virgin.

“Mad Maddy and the Homecoming King is a pretty good love story…”

Plowed is a great addition to the Blue Collar Bad Boys series. Brill Harper puts a lot of heart and emotion to her characters, both endearing and relatable. The story is engaging and had me enraged over what happened to Boone Barker. Now released after five years of false imprisonment, Boone has a hard road in front of him trying to get the family farm, his dad, and his life back to a level of normalcy. Once the Golden Boy of the town, his reputation is tarnished and everyone is afraid to talk to him except Madeline, the waitress from the town diner.

I loved Madeline, thought she was perfect for Boone. Only after two months of brief interaction it’s a crazy thing she does, accepting Boone’s proposal. And she can’t resist melting over his protectiveness. When Boone finds out Madeline’s situation at the diner, that she's not paid, he is determined to get her out. Right from the pages of “Officer And A Gentleman,” Boone sweeps her right out of there. Although she wants Boone with all her heart, it’s not so easy for Madeline to fully trust. Living with her father who was a religious fanatic, she’s learned to keep her heart safe. But Boone’s about to convince Madeline his earnest intent to make their marriage satisfying and happy. Lots of sexy, sweet moments. Loved it. My only complaint is that we never find out what Boone was arrested for. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Here's the thing, I liked this story a lot. It had a great plot. We have our leading man, who was wrongly accused and everyone turned their back on him even when he was proven innocent. Then we have Madeline, whom everyone turned her back on her too because of her crazy father. In a way, it was two lost souls finding each other.
The beginning, the author had some problems fallowing what tense they were using, but that seemed to tapper out and was fixed by the end. Also, I feel like I'm missing backstory. I wanted more about Boone conviction, what happened, why? What would be so bad he was supposed to surge 10 years but got out after five? How did he handle that life. SPOILER---- he wanted a baby so bad, but after she told him she was pregnant we never hear anymore about it...OR what career she picked that caused her to be away at an internship for two weeks. These are the kind of questions that keep me up at night.

Excellent Alpha story! Love me some Boone!
"The convict and the crazy man's daughter" - Mad Maddy and the Homecoming King is a sexy AF fun hot love story with a great storyline and excellent characters. I can't say enough about this author, Brill Harper who writes incredibly well and has a great imagination and the quality of her work is amazing! I have enjoyed all of the books she has written and Plowed is at the top of the list for me! I highlighted so many passages and zero grammar errors! I can't wait for her next release! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book and it was amazing!

I find it kind of hilarious that the book mentions multiple times that he was wrongfully imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit and let out early once they caught the person who actually did it but never once does it mention what the crime actually was. These books are steamy and bonkers but I’d love for even just one of them to not have a breeding kink. He refuses to wear a condom so they have a sex moratorium (but they are also very horny for each other so…by the epilogue, they have twins and he’s trying to knock her up again.

Boone keeps saying he “got mean” in prison, but I don’t see that at all. Madeline needs someone to take care of her, but truly needs to learn to love herself.

Such a wonderful love story! Boone comes home after being completely vindicated, but he's still not fitting in with the townspeople who (wrongly) thought the worst of him. Madeline has always been an outsider thanks to her unorthodox childhood, so she quickly realizes that Boone deserves to be treated better than he has been. After Boone gets to know her better, he has a moment of sudden clarity and whisks her out of her current depressing situation and proposes a new path for her - marry him and help him rebuild his family's farm. Maddy is both scared by the enormity of the emotional risk involved and thrilled that everything she's ever wanted has just been offered up to her on a platter.

These characters feel so real that they stay with the reader long after the book is done. Boone and Maddy may have jumped off the cliff in hitching their wagons together, but their faith in each other and in their commitment sees them through all the doubt and insecurities. And just in case you're wondering, the love scenes are among the hottest I've ever read.

Insta-love stories are hands-down my favorite, but this one has so much more emotional depth than I usually find, especially for a novella. This author is simply amazing in how she can build so much setting, characterization, and plot development in less than a hundred pages. It feels as though I've read an epic novel, even though it was a quick two-hour read. It's like the author has the secret recipe to a perfect book, and knows what's absolutely necessary to include and what needs to be left out. It's simply brilliant. This is the first book I have read in this series and I LOVED IT! Boone was the high school football golden boy with a bright future ahead of him until he was convicted of a crime he did not commit and ended up in prison. In that time his mother died and his father all but stopped living himself after it. Madeline has had the deck stacked against her since she grew up in foster care and had to work really crappy jobs with verbally abusive bosses. Boone wants to make up time for everyone he lost and he believes having children will do that. So, after witnessing Madeline being verbally abused and then fired he takes her out of her job a la An Officer and A Gentlemen style. He takes her to his truck and eventually talks her into marrying him so he can impregnate her that night and she will help him make a real home and help him take care of Dad. She agrees but make shim promise he will help her finish school. They get married that day and he calls her his "sunshine" and makes her feel like the most beautiful and special person in his life and Madeline is not used to that. GAH such a beautiful love story!! I'd would give it more then 5 stars.

Such a GREAT love story! I didn't care it was about an older man/younger woman. I have been waiting to read a love story like this one for too damn long. Loved Boone and Madeline as characters and as a couple. Boone was completely swoon worthy as the hero and Madeline was a great fit being his heroine. Their Epilogue was AWESOME! Now, I have no idea what to read next. I hope I don't a book hangover after reading this.

I love these reads by Brill Harper because I know what they are going to do...put HUGE smile on my face and this one is no exception. This time it’s Boone, the all American boy from a small town who was convicted of a crime he didn’t commit. Five years later he’s released when the real criminal is caught but comes home to a mess. He needs to make it right and he wants a wife to help him. Madeline is a waitress he’s been eyeing since he got home, she’s the only one who has been nice to him, so when he sees a chance, he takes it. Madeline had a rough life growing up so she’s wary that the hot man, Boone, wants her. It’s going to take some convincing on his part to show Madeline he means what he says and that she can trust and give her heart to him.
A perfect read for a break or a quick nighttime read that has plenty of steamy scenes with a dirty talking alpha man and the good girl. A read that’s about the two of them, no misunderstandings, no lies, no miscommunications, he wasn’t a man wh*** even before he went to prison, no one trying to break them up and a HEA that made me smile from ear to ear. Only one question...what was the crime he supposedly committed ? But even with that 1 little question I could not give it less than 5 stars because the story flowed beautifully, the characters were amazing, and once again left me smiling.

This writing style feels a little like Jordan Silver's, and to me, that is not really a good thing.

So here we go:

1. The H is wrongfully convicted of a crime (what crime? who knows ! the author never explains this) and is sentenced to 10 yrs in jail. After 5 yrs, he gets released because the person who actually committed this apparently secret crime, was caught. How you ask ? Well there's the beauty in this story, it's a freaking secret.

2. He is a big, muscle mass of a man. She is curvy. The end. Yup, you guessed it, the author does not give you anything else to work with. I mean, really, who needs to know what these people look like to really get the feel for the book right?

3. Dirty talk. Please do not look to this book to give you some sexy, steamy, hot sex scenes. You get badly written porn dialogue in the bedroom.

Oh, it's not all negative, don't get me wrong. The h firmly states she wants to finish college and he says "absolutely". YAY !!! And there's also the fact that the typos and grammatical errors were minimal. Ah the silver lining.

This book is 95 pages and they set the price at $2.99. My advise? Skip it. If you really are hurting for some crappy, crude, no backstory, character development books, check out Jordan Silver, at least those are KU, because honestly, they are VERY similar.

Nearly all of Brill Harper's erotic novella's have the exact same plot. Innocent, extremely young virgin meets older, extremely experienced, dirty talking alpha. This one was no different.

But something about it was different. In a good way! The plot was the same as all her other books but the whole accidental ex-con farmer storyline totally worked for me. Probably because even though he was an ex-con, he was innocent and released because the truth came out. He was a good kid before he went to prison on false charges. While he enjoyed the dirty, demanding sex (as all Ms. Harper's heroes do) he wasn't a big jerk in real life.

I'm glad there was no anal sex or extremely dirty, porn videos being watched in this one. Those things throw the whole story in my opinion.

If you enjoyed her other books, then you'll probably enjoy this one too!

3.5 stars. Enjoyed this. It's one of the better examples of a short, sweet and quick to a happy ever after type romance. It's not epic, it's not going to immerse you in a new world or whisk you away but it is a sweet read. I've read a few of this authors books now and she gives the right amount of story to make for a very enjoyable read, along with enough character depth for me to really like them and feel for them and a nice splash of heat. Although I have to say the first sex scene did disappoint, there was too much talking and not only is it cringe worthy talk but oh so unrealistic that he can say so much in the midst of climaxing. It really spoils it. There is also quite a bit of cheesy talk about babies etc but this is a nice sweet romance with likeable characters.

*Clears throat as I channel Stefon on this review*

If you're looking for a book that is a good read and can add to your reading challenge in just a short amount of time, this book is for you. Upon finding out that it is only less than a hundred pages short, I estimated that I would finish it in less than a day. And I was right. And no regrets there. It is just one of those steamy yet feel good stories worth spending a few hours with. While I wished more chapters, I think it is just delightful to have a book that takes less than a day to finish.

And for a first time reader of this author, this will definitely not be the last.

Sweet, Hot & Delicious
This is my first book by Brill Harper but it will definitely not be my last! The story is deliciously hot! But it has a whole bunch of sweet too! I loved the two main characters. They were very believable. Boone is a hot alpha male returning home after 5 yrs mistakenly in prison. It all looks the same but it really isnt. Madeline never had anything to count on and no one to protect her. Will she be able to trust Boone to be the one! Can these two make a life together. Its so hot watching them work to that HEA! You’ll love it just like I did!

Brill Harper's Alphamallows are my world. Her Blue Collar Bad Boys series is like your favourite treat. There is no angst, no complications and always a happy ever after. Sometimes we all need some insta-love, manly men who fall head over heels immediately and aren't scared to admit it, and dirty af fun. I will use this review for all her Blue Collar Bad Boys books because it remains the same. I have read them all, and I reread them on super stressful or bad days because it's an instant smile on my face. Support Brill and her lovely smutty books and take that mini-vacay for an hour.

Out of jail

They finally caught the right guy and sent to jail and he was free. He had to learn different things to survive. He's home and the land and house are horrible. He goes to the diner and meets her and they become friends. She loses her job as a waitress(shes awful) he comes to her rescue and carry her out and they run away to marry. They run into ex gf and poor maddy doesn't know what to think and leaves them. They talk at home and work things out and tells him they're having a baby.

This was my first book by Brill Harper and let me say I was not disappointed in spending the money. Well developed, original story with fast pace, super hot sex and likable characters to boot. Fan-fucking-tastic! Boone and Maddy were fun to read and everything was just enough, just enough backstory, just enough drama, just enough sex and just enough character building. I loved this book. Short and Sweet

This was my first time reading this author and I was pleasantly surprised!
Boone was dominate, sexy, and sweet. I loved how caring he was and how he wanted the the best for his family and Madeline.
Madeline was sweet but she got annoying at the end of the story. Whiny and silly. I hate silly heroines.
The sex was erotic and hot. I just wanted more romance and interaction between the H and h.
Very similar to Alexa Riley.

I have enjoyed the other books in this series. I almost didn't read this one due to some the other reviews commenting on how little back story there was and how short it was. I agree the story is short, that's the point. And yes the back story could have been filled in more. However for a novella of this length the story is well told and the characters are deep and powerful. This packed a big punch for something so short and I really enjoyed it. I'm glad I ignored the less than stellar reviews.

When Boone finally gets released from prison he is so happy five years of his life wasted when he didn't do anything wrong. He is back in town reclaiming his life and helping his father when he meets the beautiful Maddie. Nothing prepares him for the feelings he has for her.
