The Spreading Vineyard: The Growth of the Africa Inland Church, Kenya, From 1945 Onwards

Rate this book
This book, formatted without pictures or maps, is a follow up of the first volume, From Death to The Birth of the Africa Inland Church in Kenya, 1895-1945. This second volume offers a substantial survey and examination of the growth of the AIC Church in Kenya from 1945 onwards, and is a must read for scholars, not only of the AIC Church in Kenya, but also scholars of African Christianity. No piece of work on this topic and of this magnitude exists. Dr. Gehman has offered the Kenyan church a much needed study.
This book provides a rich history of the birth, growth, and development of the Africa Inland Church, Kenya. Its depth is extensive. It covers such formative topics as the Mau Mau conflict, the East African Revival movement, and growth through evangelism and missionary outreach as well as through social services and charity work. In addition, it tackles the educational and media services of the Africa Inland Church, the struggles the AIC underwent in Bible translation, and the various experiences of founding and nurturing rural, urban, and new frontier (missionary) congregations.
