Caina has a deadly problem. Specifically, she carries the Ring of Rasarion Yagar, a relic created by the tyrannical necromancer-king who once ruled Ulkaar. The deadly sorcerers of the malevolent Umbarian Order wish to seize the Ring for themselves, as do the sinister priests of the ruthless Temnoti cult. And to make matters worse, the Ring is not the only powerful relic of Rasarion Yagar. And unless Caina can escape her foes, the wielders of those relics will kill her...
Standing over six feet tall, USA Today bestselling author Jonathan Moeller has the piercing blue eyes of a Conan of Cimmeria, the bronze-colored hair of a Visigothic warrior-king, and the stern visage of a captain of men, none of which are useful in his career as a computer repairman, alas.
He has written the DEMONSOULED series of sword-and-sorcery novels, and continues to write THE GHOSTS sequence about assassin and spy Caina Amalas, the COMPUTER BEGINNER'S GUIDE series of computer books, and numerous other works. His books have sold over one million copies worldwide.
This was really underwhelming... There just had to be an undefeated undead that got defeated in a lucky stroke, and enemies not simply killing Caina when they have no reason not to... Hard to say this, but the way I see it, this wasn't up to par with any other Ghost story. Just a load of illogical action packed events. Sad.
Another menace has been defeated by Caina, Kylon with both new and old friends. As always lots if good action, characters and story. These books never fail to entertain.
Caina, Kylon, Sophia, and Seb are traveling to Vagraastrad when they rescue an old man being chased by reveniri. He is able to inform them that his name is Teodor and he is looking for his daughter, Svetlana. Other than that he doesn't seem to have any recollection of how he arrived in his current predicament. His tattoos reveal that he is an Ulkzzri witchfinder. They decide to bring him along in the hopes that someone in the city will recognize him.
Upon arrival they visit several Temples but no one seems to know Teodor. They then decide to take him to the local sanitarium run by Lady Libavya Jordizi. Teodor has an extremely fearful reaction once they arrive at the sanitarium so they don't leave him there.
Later in the day they encounter Antonin Crailov, a dangerous assassin. Unbeknownst to them he carries a sword enchanted by Rasarion Yagar, AKA the Iron King. The sword is very reminiscent of the nagataaru who had possessed Kalgri.
Caina reunites with her former mentor Theodosia who has formed a traveling troupe of entertainers. The troupe is cover for Theodosia's plan to locate and kill Talmania for murdering one of her sons. Theodosia's new maid is a young woman by the name of Ilona, a minor magi.
Hiding in plain sight is Brother Basarab. People believe him in be a wastrel, drunk and probably a thief when in reality he is one of the major defenders against necromancy. He is able to identify Teodor who had been the leader of a group coming from Risiviri to stop Libavya from whatever she is plotting.
A character going by the name of the Bronze Witch keeps popping in and out with warnings and advice for Caina. As expected, Kylon isn't fond of any kind of oracle.
Antonin Crailov has been hired to assassinate Libavya Jordizi and convinces Caina and crew to accompany him. Libavya has been murdering those entered into her sanitarium in order to obtain enough power to raise Cazmar Vagastru, a former szlacht of the Iron King. This has a hilarious result.
Dear Jonathan, another entertaining and wonderful story in the continuing series of Ghost in Exile, now called Ghost Night series. I loved the Ghost in Exile series and now I am enjoying the continuing series Ghost Night. I highly recommend reading this book and series of adult entertainment to anyone interested in reading an excellent story. Thanks for the continuing entertainment.
Ghost Night book 2. Serious spoilers for both the first book and the prior two series.
Caina has the evil and powerful ring, and Kylon and the rest of her companions are willing to help her bear it away to Iramis to be sealed away forever. The problem is what they meet on the way. . . .
Not all. At a theater, Caina meets up again with Theodosia, who has come north after a tragedy of her own, and there are other allies. But workers in necromancy complicate their path.
It involves misplaced reputations, a man who remembers his daughter, an assassin who wants Caina to do his work for him, an evil and powerful sword, and more.
Ciana travels to Ulkaar, via Siglsora after her aunt botched a spell. She comes to possess the ring of power. Through many plot twists she defeats the local necromancer and a reanimated vampire. She has a companion who, while a member of the Ghosts, is also the green witch, an entity sworn to protect Ulkaar from evil.
Much better than the first book, Ghost in the Ring. I enjoyed this book and seeing some old characters from the original ghost series return! I still love the Ghost in Exile series more, but I still have hope that this Ghost Night series becomes just as beloved to me as its series predecessor.
Twists and turns and our favorite heroine overcoming the unstoppable with the help of new friends and some of the old! Can't wait to see where the next book takes us! ❤❤❤
This moved along at a goodly pace and wasn't as pedantic in the battles as previous stories. It brought back some old characters that helped with the story line. Sets up the rest of this cluster of series nicely.
Book 2 was a better read and was exciting. I have enjoyed the plot and characters so far. The overall is a bit predictable at times, but fun. I look forward to the next book.
I’m two volumes into Moeller’s third “Ghost” series and I still can’t sop reading. I have no concept of how he can keep these stories comping without them getting stale.
I have to say I like how this series is shaping up. I enjoyed the World of the Ghosts series very much and they have kept me interested over all of the books so far and this is no different. The characters are well rounded and well thought out.
I enjoyed the book. I have a bad feeling that the next book will have a lot more problems for Caina, especially if her aunt is taking an interest in her.
