What an interesting read. I had travelled in Switzerland on several occasions and so as the author told the partially true story I could picture many of the places. I loved the story of a woman working hard in a male dominated era to become a doctor. Then to go to a remote town (all true) and become the town doctor. She eventually became known for her ability to perform difficult ski rescues. I had the opportunity to hear the author talk about interviewing the doctor when when was 92. The author said she carried the story around in her heart and mind for several years after returning from living in Switzerland and just knew she had to share this incredible woman's story. I'm glad she did. Clean read.

This book was written by a neighbor. It’s about a Swiss lady who became a medical doctor before it was common for women to do so. She worked in a small Swiss town that had patients remote enough that the doctor sometimes had to ski to reach them. She also worked as a rescue worker for the town’s ski resort.

Exceptional

The author does a wonderful job with the description s of the time and place. But even better, she gives us a wonderful heroine in Margrit. I really enjoyed reading the book.
