My Review:

This particular Bible has been republished and updated many times. It is a favorite among teens and it really goes above and beyond the similar versions of the Bible. When you call a Bible a Study Bible, it usually contains more information than just your standard Bible. It expands on the scripture to give you a more in depth learning experience. This Bible has several features: We Believe, Panorama, To The Point, Dear Jordan, Key Indexes, Instant Access, Bible Promises, Book Introductions, Q&A, and What Do I Read Today?.

This particular one is hard cover and it contains the full text of the New International Version. It is contemporary and written to where it is easy to understand. So there is alot of information included in this Bible that is more than what a standard version would contain. Please don't make the mistake of buying this for a pre-teen, it is for ages 14-18, would be a safe age. Some of the issues discussed in the extras part of the Bible may be too adult for younger children.

**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from Book Look.

The NIV lived up to it’s billing. It is much more readable than the KJV. The NIV is easier to read and I had new insights as I read it. Many times I would read something and wonder what the KJV said. Then, if they were different, I copied a verse or so from the NIV into the KJV that I use.

I bought the NIV Teen Study Bible, kindle version because it was cheaper that the adult version, and Amazon said they were both the same number of pages, so I figured the essential text must be the same. After a while I stopped reading the commentary that was directed at teens and concentrated on the biblical text plus the notes on the text.

If I did it over again, I would buy the regular version instead of the ones with short essays for teens.

The Teen Study Bible (NIV version) assist parents with those tough (uncomfortable) conversations. It also allows the teen to build a relationship with God as it important. Teaching morals and principles that foster good character is what the religious text aims to do. The book also provides historical context of human history (man’s relationship with society). As I parent of a teenager, I find this book valuable.

Note: This version which I read contains 1580 pages

Praise Be to God. Finally finished reading the Bible all the way through for the first time. It has been a challenge at times. Lost many times along the way. Do I understand everything that I read…No, but that is what makes me eager for more. I have a big desire in me to learn and study the word of the Lord. Now it’s time for me to study the word since I have now laid the foundation.

Being a mom of 4 children, 3 of them teenagers, in today's secular world is no easy task. The temptations, distractions, constant reminders of things they could be doing with all the electronics on the market rather than read are many! To have a wonderfully written book like the NIV Teen Study Bible available to them is a wondrous thing!

The NIV Teen Study opens with The Apostles Creed and it's history, which unifies us as believers of Christ and unites Christians around the world. I know you might be thinking there are many of these on the market. What makes this one different from all the other ones? Well, there IS a difference! The Teen Study Bible is 1,614 pages BIG! In between pages 1-1614 is a multitude of information that teens NEED to read. This book gets down in the trenches, it's straight talk with topics and hits home on more levels than I have read in other additions. For example, one of my teen daughters has acne, so pronounced that we take her to a dermatologist who has worked with her and put her on several medicines to help her heal. Neither her pastor or Sunday School teacher have ever brought up pimples! But page 346 does exactly that - it talk about 'zits'! Imagine! From a Godly perspective, God said to Samuel in the anointing of the King, "Do not consider his appearance or his height .. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." Straight talk, people. Things kids want and need to hear. They don't want lectures, or sermons that drone on, they want to hear what is relevant to them in their daily walk, and that walk includes talks of God on their level.

One amazing feature in this NIV Teen Study Bible is the "Dear Jordan" sections through-out the chapters where kids/teen have asked a variety of questions and Jordan answers them in matter-of-fact, non threatening ways. Such as, what I argue, what if I'm at a party and there is drinking, what if one of my parents like me better than my siblings? Sometimes, it is not easy to ask adults the things that kids have on their minds and lay heavy on their hearts. The quick reference questions which are quick-fire style "Why did God kill Uzzah?" and answer "Uzzah put his hand on the ark of the covenant, which no one was allowed to touch." Love the quick reference pro quo! In addition, the Instant Access spiritual reference is a great tool for kids to look up the references and have explanations in addition to their entire bible, book by book.

The pages are a little thin, almost like onion-skin, so this book needs to be treated with some delicacy but it's absolute perfection in style and written with the true teenager in mind. From open discussions of virginity, sexual promiscuity, drinking, drugs, bullying, shop-lifting, divorce, idolatry of stars, and so much more, this book just brings home all the topics you can imagine that you need to discuss with your teen and have on hand for those 'need scriptural reference' moments. In addition to the worrisome topics, it's jam packed with the goodness as well, like serving as a Christian teen, witnessing, service projects, reaching out to others, and many more.

I'm so blessed to have had the chance to review this teen study bible and will use this as a definite guiding tool with my own children. This book would also benefit those working in the Christian field of teaching, Sunday schools and ministries. It would also make an excellent gift!

I was given a copy of this book to review. The opinions expressed within are purely my own for an honest review of the book.

As parents & caregivers, the greatest gift we can give our kids is a relationship with Jesus. When our kids are young, it’s a lot easier to grab their attention & keep them interested in Bible stories. Bibles specifically edited for elementary children come with vibrant pictures of specific Bible stories. But, when they hit those teen years, how do we keep them interested in God’s Word?
For our teens, Zondervan has published the NIV Teen Study Bible. Especially designed for these turbulent years, this particular edition has a number of features that I simply love.
First, at the very beginning of the Bible they’ve included The Apostles Creed. It something that I encourage parents to have their children memorize. We need to know what we believe. Plus, this NIV has a verse-by-verse list of where the statements of the Creed can be found in the Bible. This was a feature that I hadn’t seen before but is a great tool to have.
‘We Believe’ is a devotional type page found in conjunction with the Creed’s verses. Teens can read the verse & a mini-devotional about each part. ‘To the Point’ sections are strategically placed throughout the Bible. These blurbs discuss a specific topic such as lying or alternative lifestyles. Again, Biblical examples are given along with verse reference.
‘Q & A’ tidbits are intermittently placed, encouraging readers to test their knowledge. This would be fun for them if they’re fans of the game show, ‘American Bible Challenge’. ‘Instant Access’ sections go along with these for added study.
‘Dear Jordan’ is a personalized aspect. Every so often, in a letter format, ‘Jordan’ responds to teens questions on life issues. What I like about Jordan is that the answers aren’t cheesy or antiquated. They’re more like teen-to-teen talking. Let’s be honest: if we don’t respond in a way that the kids relate to, they won’t listen. I’m all for anything that encourage our kids to turn to God’s Instructions.
All in all, this NIV Teen Study Bible is a perfect fit for today’s youth. Each of my sons went through it & each one found multiple things that they appreciated about this edition. As a family, we give it a 5 star rating.
We were blessed with a copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Awesome. This is literally the coolest Bible that I have ever seen. Originally, I had an older version of this when I was in middle school (1997) and I really liked it then, but this new revised edition (2008) is the coolest one I have seen yet. I just love it!

There are all sorts of new features that make this Bible so user friendly. Examples of the new things are a Panorama that keeps the Bible book in view of the big picture. There are key indexes that pull things in for deep Bible studies, To the Point makes the subject matter at hand easy to understand in broken down term, Instant Access is like a letter from God directly to the reader. Dear Jordan is completely neat, It's in a Dear Nancy type scenario that offers great advice to teens. Q&A tests knowledge of neat trivia, Bible promises is one of my favorites that highlights Bible verses worth remembering, and Book Introductions provide a plain spoken overview for each book of the Bible. The most awesome parts are the 20 full-color pages that "explore ancient ruins, enetworking, music and more". But above everything else, the absolute most amazing thing of all that is new to this edition is the We Believe. It breaks down the Apostles' Creed to reveal the biblical foundation of faith. In bits and pieces the Apostles' Creed is explained in an amazing manor.

This Bible is fantastic and I am so excited to be able to have it and share it with the youth in my life. I strongly suggest it for every teen and preteen everywhere. The scripture is the same NIV text that we all know and love and trust. But the additions and inserts are all in common language that teens and tweens today can appreciate. Real things are discussed that kids might not bring up to others, and it is all there right for you. It's a manual and it's user friendly, and that's what is important.

Teen Study Bible, NIV By Edited by Lawrence O. Richards and Sue W. Richards. This is a great Bible to have if you are hungry for God. It discusses eternal truths of God’s Word and apply them to the issues you face today! I love the advice it gives about friends, family, school and other issues. The most awesome parts are the 20 full-color pages that "explore ancient ruins!" If you are looking for a great Bible to purchase for your teenagers this is a great option and it's relatively inexpensive!

This Bible is perfect for teenagers who are looking to keep in touch with God and what he can bring into your life if you let him. I think what makes this Bible one of the top recommended for teenagers is that it is easy to read, and even includes a guide of where to start based on how long you want to spend finishing in it. It breaks down the Bible into chapters that are easy to read every day and includes excerpts that help you connect the Lord’s teachings to your everyday life. I would recommend this Bible for Christians ages 12-19. If you are pondering your religion and need a good place to start, this is a good study Bible for you. Start accepting God into your life now and let him walk with you throughout your life and adulthood.

I have had this Bible since my confirmation in 1994 (which is apparently when it was published). It's paperback, worn, and contains my notes from AACS bible class (Mr.D!). Sometime in my adulthood I added tabs for each book (I just realized today that my rainbow tabs aren't just pretty, the colors are grouped around types of books). I have a few other versions of the Bible but I think this is my favorite. It's NIV, and yes it has a few teeny notes and illustrations. But I kind of like those, as do I still like it's bright cover (though I was at one time a little embarrassed because it seemed immature, well now it says "teen" and I ain't no teen).

As the Word of God, of course it gets five stars in my book -- but this presentation of the Bible is not as easy to read as some others, so that is why I gave it four stars.

One thing I did really like about this version is that it has a check off sheet in the back of the Bible where you can mark off each chapter of the Bible as you read it. This helped me focus on reading the whole thing, even though I skipped around a whole bunch.

If I was buying a Bible for my teenager, I would start with The Message, or The Books of the Bible (TNIV).

Has glossy pages spaced throughout just to emphasize the homophobic passages and to defend, of all things, arranged marriage?

5/5 would give me feelings of self-loathing and drive me away from Christianity again

This was the first bible I received. The included vignettes are reader-friendly and help break up the content both by explaining sections with examples and helping you to slow down and process what you've been reading.

Now about that cheesy, 80s-inspired cover...
