I just wanted to be alone. Until I saw her. When I lost Cold Hall Farm, I resigned myself to a lonely life on the desolate moors. But then she appeared. At my farm. Living with the man who took it from me. I know what he'll do to her. He'll destroy her. I can't let that happen. Instead, I will make her mine. I won't stop until she's naked at my feet. But if she discovers the truth about my past, she'll want nothing to do with me. Then I lose everything, including her.
***This is a steamy romantic novel with no cheating, no cliffhanger and a happy ever after. Bonus story included.***
I enjoyed this one for the most part. I LOVED the atmospheric setting and feel that it had. The writing was fine. The pace was good. The plot was original and engaging. The characters were intriguing. Unfortunately, what let this one down was the romance aspect. As in I didn't feel like there was any romance at all. Dawson felt incredibly underdeveloped, and because of that I just didn't feel any connection between him and Melissa. I honestly think this book could have been fantastic had it been much longer and the characters and plot much more fleshed out.
I read this novella as an ARC for an honest review. Melissa's father has just died and according to his will she and her half brother are to split his estate. The only 2 clauses are that they must not get into legal trouble and Melissa has to wait until she is 21 to collect. She is surprised to say the least because she didn't know she had a brother, especially not one that lived in India. After contacting Alfred, her brother she recieves a frantic reply warning her that she is in grave danger. She must leave her beautiful and comfortable mansion to go to a place called Cold Farm. Her Uncle Abraham and Aunt Linda live there and Alfred says they will keep her safe. After a very long, wet and miserable journey she hears a loud noise. Finally in the distance she sees a 3 wheeler and oddly enough its a strange man, Dawson, she saw on the bus ride there. Melissa meets her aunt and uncle and sees the bad condition of the farm she ends her night with a bad feeling of unsafe and unwelcome energy as she is locked in her room for the night . She quickly learns her aunt and uncle have alot going on in their home. Abraham gives her permission to explore the Moor and she takes advantage right away. One day she is following her uncle and hurts herself. She wakes up with a strange man in a lake house. He makes her feel uncomfortable and she thanks him and gets ready to go as she gets her barrings. She realizes that her uncle into something illegal. She also is starting to have feelingd for Dawson because of all the time the spend together when she is in the Moor. Will Melissa be safe at Cold Farm or did she put herself in harms way for a brother she barely knows? Is Dawson a bad man just like her uncle? This was a good mystery. I enjoyed it. It wasn't the usual love story that Lucy Wild writes. There was a steamy moment or two but it was more mystery thriller. It was quick and I was interested in how it would all play out. Lucy Wild is one of my faves!
Cold Hall was a suspenseful love story, full of surprises and twists and turns! It was like unravelling a mystery. This is fast paced, you don't know who to trust. It was told in dual pov with a HEA. I enjoyed it. I was glad they explained what fencing was halfway through, though, as at first I thought they meant like with swords lol.
This is quite an engaging story that I enjoyed reading. Alfred’s plans backfire when he tries to conspire against Melissa; not content with half his inheritance he wants it all. With her Uncle Abraham's help, Alfred lures Melissa to the middle of nowhere, hiding away until he can make his move. Abraham has taken Dawson’s home away from him and when he realises Melissa is related to him, his only thought is revenge, but Fate has something else in mind. The nefarious events at Cold Hall Farm provide an interesting background to the story, as does the relationship that develops between Melissa and Dawson, two people from totally different backgrounds.
Rosedale is the nearest village to the farm; it is bringing Melissa so many miles from the only life she knows, the life of a pampered, spoiled, indulged little rich girl. Melissa’s father is dead; he had been a wonderful father, but one indiscretion means Melissa now has a half-brother, Alfred, currently living in India. The Will leaves the estate divided equally between Alfred and Melissa, but Melissa’s father didn’t trust Alfred; adding various clauses in the Will, he had thought of everything to try and keep Melissa safe and Alfred away. But Alfred knew every inch of the Will and has a plan, but first he has to lure Melissa away. Writing Melissa a letter, Alfred tells her she is in danger and she must go to Cold Hall Farm to await his arrival. Melissa has never met her Uncle Abraham, but after only one night she already despises him and has good reason to. If Dawson had not been on that bus, he would not have seen Melissa, so perhaps this is Fate. Abraham had stolen Dawson’s farm for refusing to fence for him, so all Dawson can do now is wait for an opportunity to get his home back; in the meantime, he lives in a tiny derelict cottage waiting for his opportunity for revenge. The animosity between Abraham and Dawson is clear; but through intimidation and bribery, Abraham had kept his record spotless. It would take a far worse man than Dawson to leave Melissa without keeping an eye on her, especially with Abraham’s nefarious activities. Abraham hasn’t been able to fence the box in his possession, although he wishes he had; something tells Melissa that once she takes a look inside the box, there would be no turning back and she will be complicit in whatever is going on at Cold Hall Farm. When Dawson is given an ultimatum, he has to decide what is more important, getting Cold Hall Farm back or his feelings for Melissa. Alfred knew he shouldn’t have trusted Abraham’s plan and with good reason as he subsequently finds out to his detriment. A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

Here's another interesting Lucy Wild book! I've read a few now, and this one was different in some ways that I liked and disliked.
What I liked about the story was the way it was written. It's a novella, short and to the point. However, it is chock full of plot and description. You easily feel yourself in the dark, wild northern parts of England, full of beauty and danger, and the tone and description helped a lot. It built up the tension well and kept the mystery going until the end. The plot moved well, interesting and drew me in at once. The editing and formatting were also pretty good.
What I didn't like was that we had a bunch of characters with little description about them. No one was really developed. It is expected in a story this short, but it hurt the story this time since we find out so little about Melissa and Dawson as they navigate the area. Having the dual POV helped me to understand Dawson a bit, but I still did not feel as thlugh I knew much of him, and Melissa is a typical rich, sheltered girl who wants to do right. They're the main couple, along with some baddies and Melissa's family, but it seemed like they just came in as needed to move the plot. But, the worst part is that the romance really wasn't there for me. I couldn't feel the connection between them very much, even with the dual POV. They did stuff together and survived the worst, and yet I didn't feel like they talked enough, or had much in common for a connection besides living close and helping the other out. The mystery was kept up, but I figured it out after a while who was involved as the twists came.
If you are looking for a short story with some suspense and a darker mood to it, this is an excellent choice. For romance, not so much. It is well-written in all but the romance and character sense.
I received a complimentary copy of the book. This is my honest and voluntary review of the book.
Fast paced read about a sheltered woman trying to get away from the dangerous clutches of her half brother. He’s after her inheritance and a clumsy plot to disqualify her from her inheritance ensues. The story is a bit bogged down with interlocking secrets, half tales of bad men and a foreboding local legend. Dawson is neither very good nor very bad, which eventually makes him kinda boring.
The best part of the book for me was the spark between Dawson and Melissa but most of it happens and ends in the first one third of the book. As Dawson seems more focused on his farm, a seemingly half-hearted pursuit of Melissa makes the love affair feel one sided.
Lucy Wild stories dependably deliver captivating starts with strong dark sexual energy and hints of taboo and foreboding, keeping readers hooked. But unfortunately the tension cools when the hero doesn’t live up to his ominous nature and turns out to be just a regular guy. I would love to see her heroes keep their darkness and intensity through to the end.

Not one of my my favorites from this author. I love her dark/thriller stories but elements of this storyline were too confusing. I thought things would clear up as the story went along. First, I can't believe a young woman would be that naive to follow the orders of her half-brother (the other beneficiary), whom she had never met much less known about his existence. If I received a cryptic note, I'd be going to the police. And she wasn't curious about or questioned her connection to her aunt or uncle. Another, Melissa mentioned her mother died during childbirth and that Alfred (her father's son) was living in India with his mother. Yet Alfred mentioned his mother gave him 2 half-siblings. Wouldn't that make them full siblings? Which parent did they share? There wasn't enough dialogue between Melissa and Dawson to enjoy or like their connection/relationship. I still love the author and I'm a huge fan. But this story just wasn't for me.
So much at stake...who has got their head in the game?
I received an Advance Reader Copy for Cold Hall: A Bad Boy Romance written by Lucy Wild and voluntarily reviewed this book. This novella has thrill, chill, suspense, and mystery. It was an interesting story, set in a very remote and isolated property & surrounding town, with a distinct air of derelict and unsavoriness. Dawson’s mysterious character was slowly and gradually revealed with his relationship with Melissa, from the very first abrupt and rude introduction, though I did enjoy the bit of romance he sparked when she snuck out to a dance with him. The chill aspect was another good element, almost talisman/voodoo in origin. The story overall reminds me of the board game Clue, where all characters you meet are suspect, especially when a huge inheritance is involved.

Let me start with Melissa the heroine lost her father. She lead a very glamorous lifestyle being the only child of a well to do man. She never knew her mother. Now that her father is dead she finds out that she has a stepbrother and now he has warned her she is in danger and to take a bus to a rural area on a farm.
I still cant fathom how she can trust someone whom she has never met. Even if he is her brother. She stays with this really odd man and woman and it seems like it is dangerous to live with them.
Dawson the hero is brooding. He might even be dangerous. He know what he wants and he wants Melissa even if it's wrong. I seriously liked Dawson. He was the perfect hero. The story to me was not dark but to some it may be.This is definitely a must read.
While Cold Hall is steamy, I can't say that I found much romance in this one, at least not until late in the story. What I did find was a dark tale loaded with suspense and full of twists - A story of family, betrayal, and greed. Some elements do require a bit of suspension of belief, but this is fiction and all-in-all, it just worked. Melissa has a naiveté about her that is almost frustrating as she goes from one precarious situation after another, and then you have Dawson, Alfred, and Melissa's Uncle, either of which may be what they appear or maybe not. It all comes together to make for an exciting and gritty tale that will keep the reader guessing. We do get a bit of romance late in the story, but this certainly isn't your typical, sunshine and roses love story, and of course, with my love of the dark and twisted, it was right up this reader's alley.
***I received this ARC to give an honest review***A great suspenseful thriller! I love Lucy's dark side. Melissa's father has passed and left a fortune to her and a half-brother, Alfred, that she knew nothing about. She can't get control of fortune until she turns twenty-one. Alfred tells her she's in danger and to leave her home and go live with her mother's sister, again a family member she's never met, and her husband. They are supposed to keep her safe. But they keep her locked in a filthy room. She meets a guy on her bus ride to Cold Farm who just stares at her. He also gets off the bus at the same stop and leaves there in the freezing rain, only to come back and pick up in a quad car! She doesn't feel safe at the farm, with good reason!
I received two different copies of this book from the author and I voluntarily reviewed this book.
I have to say the first version that I read was a hot mess and maybe worthy of 2 stars (big MAYBE). Then the author did some modifications and sent me a second version which I then read with some trepidation. I have to say that the changes she made really improved the book. Giving Dawson's point of view, really gave the story some of the missing information that caused the first version to be confusing and the epilogue helped with even more pieces of the puzzle and gave a better conclusion.
Overall, this is an OK read but (in my opinion) not one of the author's best works (check out My Darkest Fantasy or Pick Up).
I enjoyed the latest from Lucy Wild. When Melissa meets Dawson she has left behind everything that she knows and is hiding for her safety, according to her newly discovered half-brother. Melissa finds herself at Cold Hall with an aunt and uncle she doesn't know and possibly in a worse situation than what she ran from when she meets the man who was on the bus with her and gave her a ride to the farm properly. Dawson has his reasons for sticking close to Cold Hall and now for watching over Melissa. Little do they realize just how much of a bond they will form while facing the darkness together. Melissa will inherit half of her father's estate when she turns 21. Her half brother, Alfred will inherit the other half. Alfred believes someone is out to hurt Melissa before she can inherit her share of their father's estate. He sends her to Cold Farm to stay with her aunt and uncle for safety. She feels like something is off with her uncle and there is a man named Dawson who is creeping around. This is an intriguing read with a twist you won't be prepared for. Great book and definitely a must read.
This novella is full of so many twists and a lot of mystery you never know whats going to hit you next,it keeps you turning the pages to figure out the dark mystery of this small deserted town, mellissa is very niave when it comes to people doing exactly what she s told now an orphan her brother tells her to run but what she encounters is a whole different world and then she meets the mysterious stranger lurking. Dawson who is super Alpha and the clues to everything.I voluntarily read a readers copy of this book
Cold Hall by Lucy Wild is a good read. Book is filled with drama, mystery and suspense. I loved the character of Dawson. Dark, brooding and with a bit of edge, I felt he was a perfect hero. Melissa was an o.k. character. I could not connect with her that easily. She seemed too gullible and trusting for my taste. I enjoyed the storyline and enjoyed the book. Do think it would have and could have been improved by lengthening the book. I am posting an honest review after reading an ARC copy of the book.
This erotic romantic thriller was a real page turner.. Dark in many ways and suspenseful. When Melissa's father dies she finds out that she has a half brother in India and they are to split the will. She has to wait until she is 21 to inherit hers. Lots of drama and danger as she hides out at Cold Hall with her aunt and uncle. It's told from a dual POV so we are able to keep up with both Melissa and Dawson's feelings. Danger and suspense, well written with interesting characters. I read an arc and voluntarily chose to write a review.
Melissa has a brother that she finds out after her father past on. Melissa's brother contacts her telling her that she's in grave danger. So Melissa goes to stay with her aunt and uncle. Melissa starts having bad feelings about what's going on her aunt and uncle lock her in her room. The place it's clean and her uncle is acting funny. Melissa then learns that her uncle is in something illegal. Dawson is a man of mystery. Dawson helps Melissa out when she hurts herself one day following her uncle. I enjoyed reading this book. I would call this book a dark mystery romance.
The Guest of Cold Farm is a drama packed 4 star read that will have you guessing on what happens next right up to the last page. This novella is action packed, full of suspense and has so many plot twists every time I thought I knew the answers something happened to throw me off the scent. This novella is very well written and I highly recommend you one click this as soon as you get chance. I'm voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.

Cold Farm will keep you intrigued from the first page until the last page and you will finally be able to release that breath you've been holding. Don't miss the opportunity to read this awesome book.
As haunting and breathtaking as the moors themselves. A creepy little psychological thriller wraps around this romance, drawing the reader deep into Melissa and Dawson’s world. The encounter scenes between the pair are pretty evenly split between mysterious and hot, further enhancing the overall intrigue of the book. There’s a lot of story in here, a wealth of shiver-inducing detail, and it all goes by in a flash. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
Lucy Wild..you did it again. I loved this story. It's a dark psychological thriller filled with many twists and turns that held my attention from the first to the last page. The scenes between Melissa and Dawson are not just mysterious & intriguing, they are pretty darn hot. It's told in dual POV...you will be holding your breath till you get to their HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I thought the story was good. I liked that it was definitely unique and where the story took place was interesting. The story held several mysteries and plot twists. I thought Melissa was sweet and very naïve. Dawson has definitely been through a lot. I liked that he finally decided to fight for what was his and what he wanted. I wanted more from Melissa and Dawson though. More chemistry maybe. You could tell that it was there just not expressed enough. Still a great story!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book for my honest opinion of which I'm under no obligation to do so. Lucy is awesome, this psychological thriller kept me hooked to the end, has dark manipulative undertones which Lucy does so well. You need to read this story to find out how Dawson and Melissa get their HEA, was Albert her half brother setting her up and what about her Aunt and Uncle? I can honestly say I recommend this book I loved all the twists and turns.
A short read with a wholesome narrative and well developed characters that totally hooked me in from the initial page! The change in title was brilliant, Cold Hall suits the feel and content of this book more than the previous title did. This book is full of mystery, it's a dark psychological thriller filled with many twists and turns. Once I started this book I had a hard time putting it down, I wanted to know what was really going on, on Cold Hall farm.
Hiding on a remote farm Melissa is confused scared and attracted to the wrong man.Melissa is told that there is a threat to her life and that she needs to hide on her uncle's remote farm. Her reception is cold, confusing and at times frightening. She meets Dawson who lives in a small almost hidden cottage and is attracted to him but she finds it hard to trust him. A intriguing story to relax with. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wow! Lucy Wild really knows how to write great books! I originally got this book as an arc through Booksprout but I loved it so much I had to buy it. The characters are well developed and even a little creepy sometimes but that only made this book even better. If you love mystery, suspense, dark, entertaining love stories full of twists and turns and a great HEA, then this book is for you. This is the second book by this author that I've read and I look forward to reading more in the future.
The Guest of Cold Farm by Lucy Wild WOW I love this book. Melissa's father passed away and she found out she had a half brother, Alfred. This is a unique story about a recently orphaned girl, Melissa, who ends up at Cold Farm because she fears for her life. Unfortunately the harm follows her there in a storyline filled with intrigue, angst, murder and mayhem. But through it all Melissa fall in love with Dawson. This was a quick read that did not disappoint.
