നിലയ്ക്കാത്ത സാന്ത്വനം

ഇൗ പുസ്തകം വായിക്കേണ്ടത് പ്രൊഫഷണൽ ലൈഫിൽ പൊളിറ്റിക്സ് ആൻഡ് ട്രാൻസ് ഫേസ് ചെയ്യുന്നവര് ആണെന്ന് എനിക്ക് തോന്നുന്നു. ഒരു വർഷം മുൻപ് ഇത് വായിക്കനെടുക്കുമ്പോ, നല്ലൊരു പൊസിഷനിൽ രെപ്യൂറ്റഡ്‌ ആയ ഒരു കമ്പനിയിൽ ജോലി ചെയ്യുകയായിരുന്നു. അന്ന് ഇത്ര വായനാസുഖം തോന്നിയില്ല എന്നതാണ് സത്യം. ഇന്ന് അ ജോലിയും പിന്നെ പല പടല പിണക്കങ്ങളും താണ്ടി സ്വസ്ഥമാകുന്ന് - സിബി മാത്യു പറഞ്ഞ് വെക്കുന്ന പല കാര്യങ്ങളും സ്വയം വിലയിരുത്തലിന് എനിക്ക് കൗതുകം ജനിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. നിങ്ങൾക്ക് അങ്ങനെ ആകണമെന്നില്ല ; അതാണ് ഇതൊരു സർവീസ് സ്റ്റോറി വായിക്കുന്ന തള്ളു പുരാണ പാരായണ അനുഭവം പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കണ്ട എന്ന് പറയുന്നത്.

സ്വയം പൊങ്ങൽ എല്ലാ ആത്മ കഥകളുടെയും ജീവവായു തന്നെ. ഇതിലും അതില്ല എന്ന് പറയുവാനാകില്ല; എങ്കിലും അദ്ദേഹം തോൽവികളുടെ ഭാണ്ഡ ക്കെട്ട്‌ മറന്നു കളയുന്നില്ല; ചില അധ്യായങ്ങളിൽ, പ്രൊഫഷണൽ ജലസിക്ക്‌ ഇരയായി എന്നതിലെ അമർഷം ഒഴിവാക്കി മിടുക്കനായ പൊലീസ് ആകുന്നുമില്ല; കാക്കിയുടെ ഉള്ളിലെ മനുഷ്യനെ "പ്രാർത്ഥന ക്കാരൻ" എന്ന് തുറന്നു പറയാൻ മുതിരുന്നു. അധികം ഗിമിക്സ് ഇല്ലാതെ എഴുതി എങ്കിലും, അപ്രിയ സത്യങ്ങൾ കഴുത്ത് കെട്ടി അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് എനിക്ക് തോന്നി. ശത്രുപക്ഷത്ത് പലരുടെയും ഇന്ീഷ്യൽസ് മാത്രം വെച്ച് എഴുതുന്നത് ഒരു ശൈലി ആയി മാറിയപ്പോൾ , ഇവിടെയും അത് പിന്തുടർന്നതും ആവാം - അതൽപം അരോചകം ആയി തോന്നി. പേർസണൽ അഭിപ്രായമാണ് ; എല്ലാവരും യോജിക്കണമെന്നില്ല. എന്നിരുന്നാലും, നല്ലൊരു വായനാനുഭവം ആണീ പുസ്തകം.

ജുഡീഷ്യറി - പൊളിറ്റിക്സ് ബാന്ധവം ഇത്രയിനം സങ്കരങ്ങളെ പെറു ന്നു എന്ന് അവജ്ഞ/ പുച്ഛം/കലിപ്പ് ഒക്കെ അനുഭവിച്ച്, വായിച്ച് തീർക്കാം. ഇതാണ് നമ്മുടെ നാടും, ആ നാട്ടിലെ പൊലീസും!

Its a good biography of Mr. Sibi Mathew's official life. Although not much is focussed upon his personal life, the book is divided into different chapters which speak about his experiences. These chapters begin with his education and training to be an IPS officer and then goes on to describe in brief about his first case, sensational or important cases he handled, his postings a several districts in different positions in the police cadre etc. His relation with his higher officials in the police, some politicians, ministers and top ranking government officials is also relayed.

It was nice to read about the cases- especially the sensational ones- which were known to us only through the newspapers and media. However, clarity on some cases were missing I felt- especially the ISRO 'spy' case that rocked the nation in 1990s. I was waiting to read his side of the story considering what I had read in ഓര്‍മ്മകളുടെ ഭ്രമണപഥം | Ormakalude Bhramanapadham by Nambi Narayanan who was targeted as an accused in the case.

Sibi has very tactfully used abbreviations for many senior officials in the police cadre in order to avoid any controversies I guess. Yes a non controversial yet inquisitive bio in short!

The service story of a police officer, though there's a little bit of self glorification, seems to be genuine. I especially felt interested some of the cases that he has mentioned: the Suryanelli rape case about which he unambiguously gives clean chit to P J Kurien; then the ISRO case in which he points fingers at Nambi Narayanan (though T P Senkumar also publicly aired the same views, Sibi criticises the way in which Senkumar approached the case). Somehow I could feel that he was fond of K Karunakaran, as well as Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. Though the religious dimension that he has given to some of the incidents betrays the objectivity of his views, it can be considered as finding some kind of solace in religion.

കേരളത്തിന്റെ പഴയ കാലത്തേക്ക് ഉള്ള ഒരു പൊളിറ്റിക്കൽ യാത്ര കൂടി ആണ് ഈ പുസ്തകം.

This is a true story of a honest and sincere police officer.
Mr Sibi Mathews has really explained how he has struggled to keep upright on working with these highly corrupted politicians, colleagues etc.
He might have some restriction in disclosing few names in the book. But we know the fact and what is going on in police department and Government level.
I suggest this book to be read by all.
