Bedroom Games #1

Cold As Ice

Rate this book
It may be Winter Games, but the bedroom games are about to begin…

Competing in South Korea on the world stage is hard enough.

Having to spend the entire press tour beforehand with a woman who hates me?
Karma really is a bitch.

While she’s spent the last four years loathing me, I’ve spent them ignoring the guilt that gnaws at my stomach.

All Mia Salter cares about is that I’m her brother’s ex-best friend and it’s her duty to hate me. The funny thing is, I barely noticed her back when she was trying to keep up with us on the slopes. Now, as both of us prepare to go for gold, I’m seeing her in a whole different light—and it involves a whole lotta different positions.

No one said the path to the Olympics would be easy.

Thoroughly enjoyed this enemies to lovers, ex best friend’s little sister, and second chance at love romantic comedy! What a great concept staging this at the Winter Classic (also known as the Winter Games) and getting to experience love on the slopes.

Grady Kale and Mia Salter have a long history. They grew up in the same town and Mia is four years younger than Grady and her brother Brandon, who she followed around and wanted to emulate. Mia and Grady are world class snowboarders that compete in the halfpipe. They are representing the US in the Winter Classic and both are chosen to go on tour to promote the games. The problem? Four years ago, a tragedy happened and Mia blames Grady for it and she hates him. Grady feels guilt. They have to find a way to work together. Mia had a crush on Grady for years and Grady was more than attracted to Mia. You know the saying there is a fine line between love and hate. Lines are crossed.

This was such a fun romp and I blew through it! I have never read a book about snowboarders or about Olympic athletes and this was such a great change from my usual sports romance. It held my attention entirely. There was of a great balance of snowboard action, steam and hilarity. There was great chemistry between Grady and Mia. The story is told in Grady’s POV with Mia’s POV in the epilogue. The secondary characters are awesome and provided a great set up for future books.

I thoroughly enjoyed every page! Get ready for the Winter Games by picking up this new exciting series!

I truly enjoy Piper Rayne books and Cold As Ice was No Different..
Grady Kale and Mia Salter both compete in the winter classics snowboarding.. Grady and Mia's brother Brandon Salter were best friends up to 4 years prior when an accident happened.
Because of the history with Grady and Mia they start out the Winter Classics hating each other. They go from Hating to Loving each other after a Truce is called.
This book was good.. there was a lot of different emotions involved. I laughed out loud multiple times

I don't have much to say about this book, other than it felt too short. I think it could have gone into other characters' storylines or expanded on the main one even more. I finished it late at night, but I kept thinking that there was more to read to it the following day.

Cold as Ice? More like cold on the slopes, warm in the feels! ❄️🏂

This one was cute, quick, and packed with snowboarding, complicated feelings, and just enough spice to melt a snowball.

Perfect for when you want a fast, feel-good read without too many emotional casualties. 🧤

Such a fun book to read leading up to the Winter Olympics, and I'm really looking forward to the next 2!

Mia and Grady's story was an easy, sweet, and sexy read. I loved that it was low on angst, even with the history that caused a divide between their families finally coming to a head. I really liked both of these characters. Grady's terrific. Tough and competitive, with a softer side. He was holding onto a lot of guilt because of what happened with him and Mia's brother, his best friend. Mia was great, strong and just a little bit sassy. She wasn't afraid to stand up to Grady and let him know what she was thinking.
Being forced to work together leading up to the Winter Games was probably the best thing that could have happened for not just Grady and Mia, but for their families as well.
I can't wait to see what happens once the games really get started!

(I don't care what description Piper & Rayne have given the heroes in this series, I will be picturing Gus Kenworthy for all of them because he's just that adorably hot and I love him.)

I think this is the shortest novel I've read for this duo. I'm not really impressed with this novel. It lacks a good strong foundation to cover the holes....
The instalove after years of hate is just too unbelievable. It was like oh let's see how this goes and bam their dating and telling everyone... Uhhhhh what did I miss?!
Mia is super witchy to Grady like fifty percent of the novel and he just looks at her like a hot piece of @$$. Both are professional snowboarders so they get thrown together for promos. I get that, that is about the only thing of their relationship that makes sense.
Alone in a cabin and sparks will fly. The next part of the storyline just doesn't add up. I'm sorry but this is the first time I haven't liked what I read from this author. I feel cheated.

Cold As Ice was a good story. I can't say it was great because it still had those things that irritate the hell out of me in Piper Rayne's books but this time, the good outweighed the bad, so I enjoyed reading it.

Yay! A new series by Piper Rayne! I love sports romances but I’ve never read about snowboarder before. There’s always a first, right?!

Grady Kale stole my heart. He was such a cutie, passionate about his sport, caring about others, funny and down to earth despite his success. But heavy guilt was pressing down on him because he blamed himself for what happened to his best friend.
'It'll be a cold day in hell before Mia forgives me for what I've done.'

The Story:
Four years of carrying around feelings of guilt about what happened to his best friend, Grady now has to face the music when his past catches up with him. He rather focuses on training for the winter classics because he wants to show everyone that he's the best, but what he didn't anticipate was going on a press tour with Mia Salter. All these years he kept his distance as far as it was possible with them being in the same sports environment. Now he has to face his demons head on in form of this feisty and stunningly beautiful woman.
Mia once had a crush on him but nowadays her hate for him overrules any other feelings she had.
'Nothing good can come from Mia and I having to be in each other's presence alone for any length of time.'

Thoughts:
I loved all the characters. This author duo always manages to build great personalities and loveable characters. Mia was a strong, confident and independent woman and I loved her razzing Grady. Those two as well as the other boys, Dax, Beckett and Brandon, had me laughing a lot during this read. The easy banter between Mia and Grady was the heart of the story and I enjoyed their comfortableness around each other.

I had so much fun reading this story. There were many laugh-out-loud moments and despite the history of what happened to Brandon and how Grady dealt with it, the story was not too heavy but very funny, sweet and lighthearted. Although the dark cloud above Grady’s head was very present as well as the baggage he carried around on top of the pressure to succeed.
'...training always comes first. How else do I make sure I'm not second best?'

Brandon lost everything and Grady had it all. How unfair is life?! But your fate is in your hands, you just have to make the best of it.

It's Piper Rayne, what did you expect? Of course I'm going to love a book by this duo.🥰🥰🥰

I'm practically a broken record now because I'm always sharing the fact that I absolutely LOVE sports romances, but here I am again, admitting that fact. I love sports romances, and I have a serious soft spot for ones that tie in with the Olympics, Winter or Summer...doesn't matter. Some people like to read Christmas or Halloween stories around the holidays, well me...I like to get my Olympic fever going with a good ol' sports romance. When I saw that one of my favourite author duos, Piper Rayne, were writing a series of books revolving around Olympic snowboarders, I was super excited and I knew that I needed to read them...well, I've now read the first one and let me tell you, they did an amazing job!

I absolutely loved COLD AS ICE! Grady and Mia were amazing characters. I loved their passion for snowboarding, I loved the tension between them, and I loved how Piper and Rayne uncovered the shared past between them. As soon as I started reading I didn't want to stop! The mix of tropes in this story was pretty interesting, and it definitely had me compelled! The majority of the story is told through Grady's POV and I loved that! He was cocky, but he was pretty damn endearing and had a hidden sweeter side that I loved getting to see. Mia was sooooo fierce, and I absolutely adored her! I loved how driven she was, and I loved seeing her relationship grow with Grady. They were seriously sexy together! I also loved their friends so much! I'm extremely excited for the two follow-up books in the Bedroom Games series...luckily they're being released every two weeks so we won't have to wait long! ;)

COLD AS ICE was sexy, funny, and just an absolutely wonderful ride! If you’re looking for an awesome Winter Olympics romance this is definitely one worth reading! I adored Grady and Mia, and I loved that we got a prequel of their story at the end of the book, too. Now I can’t wait to read Dax and Demi’s story and I’m looking forward to some Grady and Mia cameos! ;)

Grady Kale is more than ready to compete in the upcoming Winter Games. What he doesn’t expect is to be promoting the games with his female counterpart, a woman who has hated him for the last 4 years.
Mia Salter is headed to her first Winter Games as the female favorite, but can she spend the weeks before the games being civil to Grady Kale?
Grady and Mia have history. He used to be her brother’s best friend growing up, but 4 years ago he went after his dreams and left them behind. The friendship was broken and the animosity between them is palpable. But he immediately takes notice of grown up Mia and when they find themselves stranded together, they’ll have no other choice than confronting their demons and decide whether they will be forever enemies or if they can call a truce and move on.
Once again the authors deliver a fast and fun read, this time with the backdrop of the winter games. The story is a nice mix of enemies to lovers, best friend’s little sister and sports romance in true Piper Rayne fashion. The characters, both main and secondary, are competitive among themselves and it makes for great banter and word play.
I can’t wait for the next story in the series and I hope a Brandon book is also in the making.

Snowboarding may not be a sport I'm very familiar with, but Piper Rayne sure makes it sound good in this story. I loved the team feel despite the individual performances. The way they all challenged and encouraged each other to be better, even as they were competing against one another. But what I really loved was Grady and Mia.

This male POV story gave me what I felt was the perfect insight. Grady had all these thoughts and feelings and guilt throughout the story that I felt we readers really got to deep dive into with it only being from his POV. And seeing Mia through his eyes just helped me like him more. She was strong and driven and just awesome and it was all portrayed without needing to see her thoughts.

This book was also the perfect intro to the series. I'm very excited to see what's going to come next with Beckett and Dax. And I'm secretly hoping Brandon might also get a book some day.

I love sports romances, I love romantic comedies, I love great writing...the dynamic duo of Piper Rayne has all of that and more wrapped up in this super fun read!

Who doesn't like Bedroom Games? Lol
Grady and Mia are both pro athletes who are headed to the Winter Games for snowboarding.
These two definitely have a complicated relationship! Mia has had quite a crush on Grady for quite a while but four years ago, things changed! They hadn't spoken since the terrible tragedy that left them both reeling. Now they've got to put on brace faces and play nice at all the Games events and promo stuff! Will they get through it? Lots of drama, angst, banter, sexy times, and humor in this one!

I read this is one sitting, definitely didn't want to put it down and really loved the leads!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Big fan of Piper Rayne, highly recommend!

Piper has once again give us a sexy sweet romance ! Mia and Grady are heating up the Winter Games . These two amazing athletes have a past. Yes Grady was her brother's best friend and Mia was the awkward little sister. Grady has not seen her or her family in four years. Mia's brother had an untimely accident that took him out of the running for a metal and Grady was there to move ahead and pick up the gold. That has since put a wedge between these friends and their families , until Mia and Grady once again meet up! Love and spark can not be planned and these two had no idea what hit them !!
Great Read !!

You know what I love about Piper Rayne? I can always depend on them for a fresh fantastic read!  This is the first book of the Bedroom Games and it introduces us to a new gang! Never have I wanted to be part of a group of people than I did with this cast of characters!

They have done it again with  Cold As Ice!

This story of Mia & Grady is fantastic! Grady (who, if you read Chore Play, will know this is Jagger's cousin and if you haven't read it, what the hell you waiting for?!?) is the perfect swoon worthy specimen! I love his competitiveness, his swagger, and when he falls, he falls hard! (both literally and figuratively!) He struggles with his guilt and he overcomes beautifully!

Mia is perfection, she is take no prisoners, in control of her world (even when she isn't) and a kickass snowboarder! She also has a vulnerable side that you see just a bit of through Grady's eyes and it make you love her all the more!

I am so excited to continue on this journey with Piper Rayne, this series is going to be better than a gold medal run down the half-pipe!

This was a short read, but it still felt like it was rushed. I felt no connection to Grady & Mia and struggled with seeing them as a couple. Rightly or wrongly, Mia blames Grady for her brother’s accident, so I found it hard to believe that she would want to start something with him without him clearing the air with her brother. Grady feels guilty & is sorry about what time he played, but instead of saying that, he just acts like a fuckboy - all who & no substance.
