Kissing a complete stranger shouldn’t be a life altering experience, but with him it was. One look into his mischievous hazel eyes and our lips were colliding without a second thought.
Now, months later, not only do I know his name, we’ve also become friends. Good friends. The kind of friends that kiss and cuddle together, all night long. The kind of friends that fantasize about being horizontal or vertical...and very much naked.
I’d never been attracted to the football playing jocks, but Nick’s different. When he’s not being a professional flirt, he’s undeniably sweet and funny. For every excuse my mind comes up with to keep my distance, my body finds two reasons to give him a chance.
Can he make the final drive into my heart or will I keep him in the friend zone?
Jacob Chance grew up in New England and still lives there today. He’s a martial artist, a football fan, a practical joker, and junk food lover. A USA Today bestselling author of sports romance and romantic suspense, Jacob plans on writing many more stories.
Carter has been stuck being the ‘good girl’ for way too long. And where did being ‘good’ get her? A fiance who cheats on her with her best friend and gets her pregnant. Whomp whomp! Months later, at her sister’s engagement party, she makes a bold move by grabbing a handsome stranger and sharing with him the kiss of a lifetime. However, when the kiss ends, she runs and hides behind her familiar veneer. So what happens when the man she kissed, Nick O’Shea, decides to peel back her layers and break down her walls?
At least that’s how I viewed this book. Summed it up pretty good, didn’t I? This story was sweetly romantic, charming, and the characters shared a chemistry and banter that held me riveted to each page. I had no idea what would come out of Nick’s mouth next. He was incredibly hot, intelligent, ambitious, kind hearted, and sensitive. He was literally a sweetie pie. And Carter was a girl still trying to figure out who she was outside of the good girl act. One thing was for sure… she loved who she was with Nick. No pretense. No drama. Something simply beautiful.
As always, Jacob Chance didn’t disappoint. He knows when to drive the romance and the humor at just the right moments.
Release Date: December 1, 2017 Genre: Sports Romantic Comedy POV: Dual - 1st person Heat: 3 out of 5 Type: Standalone
I dare you to try and not fall in love with Nick O'Shea. It would be more difficult than eating only one potato chip out of an open bag.
Football star, MMA fighter, life of the party and ladies' man, Nick, is in his last year of college at Boston University. While he is not unhappy being the clown of his group of friends, nor with being the sought after stud of the college, Nick is hoping to eventually find someone who gets him for the person he is underneath his joking facade and ripped abs. What he's not expecting is to be grabbed, kissed within an inch of his life, and then ditched all within minutes by a vision in pink.
Carter Murphy is floundering a bit. Her jerk of an ex-fiance has knocked up her former friend and she's not sure what steps she should be taking next. Celebrating the happiness and engagement of her sister, Reagan, and her fiancé, Noah, is kind of like rubbing salt in an open wound. So she makes a snap decision- fueled partially by a bit too much champagne- to act completely out of character. Grabbing the hottest guy at the party, she refuses to exchange names. She's just looking for that hot physical connection to take her out of her head for a few minutes.
What neither imagined was that that one brief, unbelievable kiss, though cut short, would be the prelude to something undeniably real. Bumpy, for sure. But hot, sweet, funny as hell, and with those issues that face every couple figuring out their way in a meaningful relationship. Carter's past influences her decisions. Nick's youth and inexperience affect the choices he makes. And the two of them have a lot of baggage to work around. But with communication, off the charts chemistry, and some help from a wonderful group of friends, can the two of them find their Happy Ever After?
Jacob Chance scores a touchdown with this tale of love, acceptance and forgiveness. And oh yeah, don't forget his trademark wit and smoking sexy times.
*Didn't get past the Amazon sample* Continuity error/medical mistake on the second page!
p. 2 "One drunken hook up between them and she's two months pregnant with his son." -the h on her ex-best friend and her former boyfriend.
Sorry but her cheating ex and poor excuse of a friend do not know what they are having when she's not that far along. Gender can NOT be determined at only 2 months of pregnancy. The sex organs are only beginning to take shape and are not visible for many more weeks!
ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.
This was my first Jacob Chance book, but it most certainly will not be my last.
I was hooked on the story right from the beginning. Nick is the most adorable and cocky, funny, sweet and sexy guy. *Insert heart eyes here*.
I totally loved him as the main male lead in this. I also really liked his best friends and I can’t wait to read their books too.
Carter was a pretty cool female lead, and I totally understood her insecurities. Hind-sight is a wonderful thing, so it was great to see her learning to become herself again and revelling in her, freedom, for lack of a better word, and her confidence slowly coming back. I also liked both of her sisters, and her Dad wasn’t really in it much, but theres one particular bit at the end that made me love him instantly. You’ll know what I’m talking about when you read this, or you’ll already know if you have read the book already.
I sped through this book and I really enjoyed it. I laughed a lot, Nick is a really funny character, and so swoony as well. This was just a really enjoyable and easy read. Theres not really any angst and the storyline plays out nicely.
Well done to Jacob Chance and I can’t wait to read more of his work.
P.S. Where can I get that Nick shirt? (No spoilers here, but you’ll know the shirt I mean once you’ve read the book).
Drive by Jacob Chance was such a sweet and charming read! One hot and sexy football playing MMA fighter and a woman currently feeling a bit lost and one scorching kiss neither can forget make for a great story! A sexy and funny RomCom to get lost in for sure!
Carter is feeling disheartened after her long-term boyfriend cheats on her with her friend and gets her pregnant. Suddenly her friend is living the life she thought was hers. Now she is questioning who she is and what she wants. The last thing she expected was one unexpected and unplanned kiss to turn her world upside down!
I loved Nick! Yes, he was hot and he knew it. Girls always swarmed around him, but he was a good guy that was honest, caring and sweet. He tries to get Carter to open up and be herself and I loved him for it! He genuinely cared for her, but because of what her ex did, she was so guarded at times.
Carter is tired of always being the good girl. Where has it really gotten her? Frustrated where her life is going, she decides to take a chance. So what does she do? She kisses the hottest man she has ever seen. And the kiss? Well it was one that turned her world upside down. But then she runs away. When they meet again months later, Carter is done with relationships, but Nick has other plans!
I loved watching Nick with Carter get to know each other. He is one hot and sex male, but with Carter he was so much more. I loved seeing them spend time together and really get to know each other. I laughed and swooned throughout the entire story. Can Nick win the girl when she pushes him away at every turn?
Drive was a sexy and fun read with two very likable characters and a great story. I loved this friends-to-lovers romance from Jacob Chance!
4.5 stars. Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Carter is fresh off a painful breakup from her douche bag fiancé, she is swearing off men forever. Carter has always been a good girl, eager to please but no more. She deserves to be happy and free. While attending her sister’s party, Carter grabbed the first hot man she saw, gave him the hottest kiss of a lifetime, then she bolted. That’s not the last time they saw each other. Carter and Nick met again and became best friends who occasionally flirt and cuddle. You know what they say: love comes when you are least expected. Nick is a football player – a bit of a philander but he is also sweet and funny. Slowly he is showing Carter that men are not all dirt bags. Carter can be a good girl but still have fun horizontally or vertically with Carter of course Can Carter overcome the insecurities that ingrained deep in her (courtesy of her ex) and realize the man of her dreams is right in front of her? Drive was a short and sweet sport romcom. Lighted hearted and charming read with low drama, hilarious banters, and steamy romance. Although that little bit of hiccup in Carter and Nick’s relationship was somewhat predictable, Jacob never fails to deliver an entertaining, witty, and swoony love story.
I’m simply in love with Jacob Chance’s writing style!!
Nick was just as wonderful as I thought he would be based off of the first book. I mean he brought her chocolate covered pretzels……Ladies, he might possibly be perfect!
I really liked this book, maybe the storyline wasn’t quite as good as the first book but I still completely enjoyed it and will absolutely be reading more of JC’s books!!!
I am undoubtedly #Nickstracted and wouldn’t want it any other way. Drive had me grinning within the first few paragraphs until the very last sentence, this is a great friends to lovers rom-com romance. Nick’s personality will have you swooning and laughing non stop, he’s the kind of man that knows what he wants and nothing will stand in his way with achieving his goal. When Carter decides to venture out of her comfort zone her life is forever changed and I couldn’t be happier for her. The way these characters are written I feel as though I could be right there hanging out with everyone at a party as well as sitting in the bleachers cheering on the team. I’ve read other books by this author and this is bar far one of my favorite ones yet. Phenomenal read that I cannot rave about enough, you must one click your copy. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
3.5 Stars My first book read by this author. I was able to connect quickly, read ever quicker and enjoyed it. So I say win win. Won't be my last by Jacob Chance. Cute love story, a little angst, my only regret is that the ex douche didn't get a pie in the face (or equivalent of that..lol) but overall I really did enjoy.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of the book.
Drive is an easy-breezy, sweet, and fun read, with just enough tension and angst to make it a page turner. All the characters were really likable (2 of the couples were featured in previous books, Penalty and Punch, but it reads perfectly as a standalone) and I plan on going back to read the other two books as well. It also set up a couple of the other characters for future books. Carter and Nick had instant chemistry and I loved the dynamic between the two of them: he is a happy-go-lucky college athlete from a wealthy family and is 4 years younger than Carter, who is hesitant and on a mission to find herself again after losing her identity in a relationship that ended in a crushing manner. I'm a huge fans of books where the male lead in gung ho for the relationship long before the woman and has to convince her. Nick was a real sweetie pie and his manner and words were really endearing. The catalyst for the tension between them came from a surprising source which made the book that much more enjoyable for me, though the issue sprung up rather quickly and resolved in a very similar manner. I would've be happy with a bit more book in order to develop and work through the problem a little more, but I finished the story statisfied. 3 out of 5 wine glasses.
I’ve had DRIVE on my TBR list as soon I saw the cover reveal. And when a friend mentioned it went LIVE early, I immediately downloaded it. Thank you, friend!
DRIVE is one of the best friends to lovers, sports romance books I’ve read in years. And I’ve read a fair share. The writing was impressive. The characters and their actions seemed to jump off the pages. The dialogue- wow! I wanted to hang out with the characters and simply join their conversations.
I can’t remember the last time I connected with a female character the way I did with Carter. Yes, she and I have a lot of the same characteristics. I read some parts to hubby and he agreed. LOL. And Nick O’Shea is the ultimate book boyfriend. Not only was he hot- come on, the guy is supposed to look like Jimmy G from the 49ers- he was sweet and loved Chocolate Covered Pretzels! He would have broken my wall defenses down in a matter of seconds. And I can’t forget those steamy scenes- they were HOT!
Nuances throughout the book were incredible and made me truly appreciate Jacob Chance’s writing. I even ordered a bacon pizza while reading this wonderful sweet romance. And although I was exhausted from working all day, I stayed up until almost 1am to finish DRIVE because I could not put it down!
When Carter is left heartbroken by her jerk of an ex, she makes it her mission to find herself again when she moves back to Boston. Kissing a stranger one night sets that plan into DRIVE. Kissing handsome, swoony, jock and campus jokester Nick was the start of nothing and everything they could expect.
I love friends to lovers romances. If you are a fan of those, this is definitely the story for you. There is so many moments I found myself laughing out loud. Like “Twitches in my britches”, hilarious! You can’t help but fall in love with these characters. If you have never read this author before this is an amazing place to start. You will be hooked after this. Highly recommended along with all Jacob’s other books!
What do you get when you have a College Football star and a gorgeous flighty slightly older woman and one random kiss that was hot enough to light up the whole town?
You get Drive a Sports Romance with a splash of Rom Com, it will have you laughing out loud one minute and hot under the collar the next. I was hooked from the prologue and have been eagerly awaiting the rest of this story since I read Punched.
Carter's life hasn't turned out quite the way she planned and at her sisters engagement party she makes the most craziest decision she has ever made with a tall, sexy stranger. In a split second she decides it's now or never so she grabs his hand and drags him somewhere dark and private.
Now as any man will attest, Nick is not one to say no to a pretty girl, in fact he is downright entertained watching the inner turmoil of this crazy beautiful girl waging a war with herself if she will actually follow through. To Nick's surprise she does and it's the single most hottest thing that's ever happened to either of them and as soon as it's begun it's over.
Nick is a smooth talker and used to getting what he wants but he has his work cut out for him with Carter. She's not falling for his charms and unlucky for him she's also done with Relationships. Can Nick's sexy cocky smart mouth win him a chance at a round two? You'll have to one click to see.
I throughly enjoyed the banter and sexual chemistry between these two, you will be hooked from the first page. Jacob did a fantastic job of nailing the emotion of both characters, his books just keep getting better. Get ready to go for a sexy and funny adventure with these two.
I LOVED DRIVE by Jacob Chance. This is Rom-Com at it's finest. You know a book is great when you can't stop laughing or swooning!
When Life of the Party, Playboy Jock meets Pretty in Pink, Reserved Good Girl the sparks fly.... Nick & Carter were wonderful, entertaining & genuine characters! They had me at hello. Nick O'Shea is the perfect trifecta, hilarious, fun and sexy!! He kept me smiling throughout. Before meeting Carter, he was your typical jock. Cocky, no strings attached, but once he got a taste of her, there was no turning back. This boy was determined to get his girl....
After a bad break up Carter is questioning everything in her life. Especially her good girl "perfect from head to toe" persona. She wants to throw caution to the wind and live a little. Nick was fortunate enough, to be at the right place at the right time. After sharing a mind blowing kiss with no names exchanged, Carter is satisfied thinking she will never meet her mystery man again... Well it turns out Nick had other plans!! One kiss had him smitten and needing more Carter. He was willing to do whatever it takes to win her heart. When this boy brings on the charm, watch out! He is AMAZING. I loved how he actually courted Carter. He was attentive and put her first. They had smoking hot chemistry, but it wasn't all about sex with them. I found that so refreshing. Jacob Chance tapped into his feminine side with Drive. He gave us pure romance accompanied by comedic and steamy moments. Just perfect.
This book had me from the time I turned the first page, I could help but fall in love with Nick O’Shea the sexy Football player, MMA fighter who likes to have fun while going to college that is until he lands his eyes on Carter Murphy. Nick is happy with his life it’s not until he can’t get Carter and that kiss out of his head, so when he finds out she moved back to Boston he hopes to get a change to see her again, cause he never expected a kiss to change his life.
Carter can’t believe where her life is and kissing the sexy stranger at her sisters engagement party helps her get out of her own head for a minute but when she comes to her senses runs of. She can’t believe the person she let her ex turn her into so trying to find herself again helps with moving home. When she bumps into Nick she can still feel the chemistry between them but is to worried to have her heart broke again.
When Nick finally gets Carter to give a relationship a try they spend time with his friends and he hopes Carter can let go of what her ex did so she will trust him not to hurt her, can Nick and Carter come out the other end of the relationship with everything they have going against them to find there HEA or will Nick’s age and Carter’s past influences be much.
Jacob Chance sure knows how to keep us entertained with his sexy wit and romantic stories and this one didn’t disappoint at all brilliant love story.
Drive is the perfect friends to lovers romance. Filled with swoon worthy moments, hot scenes, and laugh out loud phrases, it does not disappoint from the first page until the last.
I loved Drive by Jacob Chance. This friends to lovers sport romance is the exact kind of story that I will never get tried of reading over and over again because it had everything you could possibly want in a book. It was sweet and sexy with tons of laugh out loud moments but above all that Drive was the perfect example on why opposites really do attract and make the most amazing couples.
After being hurt in the worst possibly way by her cheating ex, Carter is back in Boston trying to find a way to reinvent her good girl image. And what better way then by kissing a sexy stranger at her sister's engagement party. Especially since she thinks they will never see each other again, but little does she know Nick has other ideas.
Nick is everything that Carter is not. He is the life of the party, balls to the wall college football star and MMA fighter who really just wants to find the one person who will see him for the man he is beneath the jokes. But much to his surprise, his chaotic lifestyle is exactly what Carter needed to break free from her organized one.
But what happens when a meddling family member throws their two cents in?? Will Nick and Carter find a way to overcome their insecurities in order to get their HEA??
You'll have to one click this 5 star must read and find out!!
Ok, I have a slight aversion to older women/younger men romances. I have never liked the genre, it just seems icky to me, but I'm weird like that. But I thought I would give this book a shot because hello, a football player and fighter. My two favorite types of men rolled into one.
While I have only read two books by this author, I do have to say that it was well written and had quite a few laugh out loud moments that had my family looking at me cross-eyed.
I do believe that Jacob Chance has made me a reader of the older women/younger men genre and I don't think I will pass up another book like that.
Touchdown! Drive is so far my favorite book from Jacob Chance’s writings.
I got hooked in right from the beginning and couldn’t put it down. The writing was flawless and the descriptions were so vivid and realistic that they made the story came to life word by word while I was reading it.
Bonus: Nick’s character was simply perfect and he probably embodied every woman’s dream. This one is a keeper and I definitely added him to my book boyfriends’ infinite list ;-)
This book is absolutely fantastic. Nick and Carter have great chemistry together. I enjoy a book that makes me laugh, which I did plenty of. The characters are well written. I even enjoy the secondary characters as well. Would love to read a book about Kennedy. Their journey is awesome. This is one I would reread. The writing and flow of this book is done wonderfully. Highly recommend this book.
I don't think this isn't a good book, but it didn't capture my attention . my reading lasted 30 pages max , and that was enough . there was nothing that would have kept me reading . maybe I'll give it a second chance next year, or maybe not. we'll see. so I gave it 2.5 stars but with a big margin of improvement.
Carter Murphy a 26-year-old has moved back to her parents after getting betrayed in the worst way possible. Dependable and moulded into the perfect wife for Joseph who was heading into a career in politics, only to be dumped spectacularly as he slept with her so called best friend and subsequently made her pregnant. Carter has always played it safe with her life being what she thought others wanted her to be, until she sees the hot guy at her sister’s engagement party after drinking copious amounts of champagne. Carter does something out of character and drags the stranger to the hallway where she goes in for a steamy kiss. Carter tells him she doesn’t want to know his name and she won’t give hers leaving him somewhat dumbfounded at this whirlwind.
Nick O'Shea. The college football star who also has his sights set on MMA fighting is a smooth talking, cocky guy who is used to getting his own way. A few months later after the kiss with the pretty girl in pink, he discovers Carter is the sister of his buddy Noah's girlfriend Reagan. Nick has a reputation for being the life and soul of the party and an all-round fun guy but underneath it all, he wants to find that special girl. He is attracted to Carter and sets about breaking down the walls she has built up. To say he is relentless is an understatement. The two become firm friends but the passion and attraction between the two was palpable. I wasn’t fooled by Nicks persona; underneath it all there is a sweet, caring swoon worthy guy.
This romcom friends to lovers romance had some laugh out moments and a real feel good aura to it. Beautifully written with plenty of content to keep the reader entertained. This was reading escapism at its best. There are food references and a song that stayed stuck in my head long after reading Drive. The fun-loving dialogue and banter between the two was well put together making me smile on more than one occasion. Drive also features some favourite characters from Punched and Penalty and it was lovely catching up with them. The attraction between the two was a slow burn, emphasising on getting to know each other and building a friendship mixed with sexual tension. The steamy moments happened; however it was great to have more of a story and character development because the chemistry just oozed from the pages.
I finished reading Drive with a huge smile and a fluttering heart. Its refreshing to have a real feel good read once in a while and this certainly hit the spot. The author did a fantastic job at capturing my attention from the first page right to the end. I couldn’t stop thinking about the book long after and it will be worth rereading just to have those funny moments all over again. Mr Chance tells the story in dual point of view and he certainly has a talent of putting together a great story. I don’t know how he comes up with all these ideas, but he is a storytelling genius and he deserves the five stars awarded for getting this book stuck in my head. I guess that’s his work done when that happens to a reader. Anyone that reads this is in for a real treat and all I can say is pick it up and get #Nickstracted like I did.
Drive by Jacob Chance is a friends to lovers sports Rom Com. I loved everything about this book. I was engaged from the beginning to the very end. The writing was impeccable, the story was sexy, and full of humor. I loved the banter and sexual chemistry between Nick and Carter. Nick was hysterical, a romantic at heart, and swoon-worthy. The epilogue was my favorite; it left me with a big smile on my face.
Nick O’Shea, hot football star and MMA fighter, is the life of the party, a ladies man, and used to getting everything he wants. He’s in his last year of college at Boston University and plans to make it a memorable one. Nick is a jokester, loves to have fun, and enjoys hanging out with his friends. Deep down, Nick is looking for that special someone who will understand the real Nick; someone who will see the person under the facade. Could Carter be that special person? The girl who kissed him unexpectedly, who tasted like candy and left an ever-lasting impression on him.
Carter, whose heart was shattered by her ex fiancé, has become untrusting and skeptical of love. She was the perfect girlfriend: always treated him well, dressed how he liked and acted how she was expected to. She never really felt like herself when she was with him. She decides to move back home to Boston and find herself again. On the night of her sister’s engagement party, she makes a hasty decision. Carter grabs a total stranger whose sexy as sin. She takes him to a dark secluded room and kisses him. A kiss that neither of them will ever forget. Will she be able to open her heart to love and let Nick in? Are they destined to a happily ever after?
With each book I read by Jacob Chance I fall more and more in love with his characters and most importantly his writing. His main characters as well as secondary are equally amazing and I love the world he has created! Though his books are standalone you do see previous characters and I can’t wait to see more of them because I have grown to love them all (except tabby, maybe she can be redeemed but eh)
Nick and carter are amazing characters because nick is charming, has a ton of self confidence but he’s not an ass hole! He treats carter with the respect she deserves and has yet to receive. Carter is reserved and is trying to find her place in the world and through nicks support she has all she needs!
I loved all the references in the book (football, music and movies) and I also loved carters amazing medalling dad!! I have to add that seeing Brady and Harlow again was AMAZING because they were my first ever chance characters and I was so happy to see them again!!
This is a def must read from Jacob Chance and I can’t wait to see what else is in store for the future!!
Jacob Chance brings us yet another fantastic read with this friends to lovers romance. This book will have you laughing one no it's and then reaching for something to fan yourself with the next. It has everything I look for in a book.
Nick is the sexy college football star who likes to act like a good and have a good time, but he's looking for that special someone who gets him, who sees the person he is underneath the facade. Carter has sworn off relationships after being hurt in the worse way possible by her asshole ex and former best friend, so she moves back to Boston to have a fresh start. Until she shares a hot as hell kiss with a stranger at her sisters engagement party. One kiss is all it takes to change both of their lives. Nick wants a relationship with Carter but she has trust issues, her walls are built high. Can Nick break them down? Can he get her to trust him and see that he's not about to screw her over like her ex did? I guess there's only one way to find out....
Jacob Chance never disappoints, he always brings his A-game. His writing pulls you in from the first page and doesn't let go until the end. This is one of my favourite books by Jacob, you are sure to fall in love with Nick and Carter's story....
Carter is a vulnerable woman who chooses to make decisions wisely and she winds up with more than she can chew when she kisses a stranger. Nick is a college student who plays on his college football team. This is my second book by Jacob Chance that I've had the opportunity to read and review, there are elements of rom-com but it also has the quirk and charm that Jacob Chance puts in his writing. While there are characters from other books of his, Drive is easy enough to read without knowing any of his previous characters from other books. I will be reading those previous books because I can't get enough of these stories and characters!!
I really enjoyed this book about Carter and Nick! #Nickstracted
After moving back home after her ex fience cheated on her, Carter decides to do something she would would never do, normally. She kissed a complete stranger. And what a kiss it was 💋.
After sharing a kiss with Carter, Nick couldn't stop thinking about the girl who tasted like candy.
I can't wait to see what Jacob Chance delivers next!
What a funny, sexy sweet read. I've always liked Jacob's books and this one was great. I really enjoyed the playfulness that went on between Nick and Carter.
