Grace Burrowes
190 books2,918 followersGrace Burrowes started writing as an antidote to empty nest and soon found it an antidote to life in general. She is the sixth out of seven children, raised in the rural surrounds of central Pennsylvania. Early in life she spent a lot of time reading romance novels and practicing the piano. Her first career was as a technical writer and editor in the Washington, DC, area, a busy job that nonetheless left enough time to read a lot of romance novels.
It also left enough time to grab a law degree through an evening program, produce Beloved Offspring (only one, but she is a lion), and eventually move to the lovely Maryland countryside.
While reading yet still more romance novels, Grace opened her own law practice, acquired a master's degree in Conflict Transformation (she had a teenage daughter by then) and started thinking about writing.... romance novels. This aim was realized when Beloved Offspring struck out into the Big World a few years ago. ("Mom, why doesn't anybody tell you being a grown-up is hard?")
Grace eventually got up the courage to start pitching her manuscripts to agents and editors. The query letter that resulted in "the call" started out: "I am the buffoon in the bar at the RWA retreat who could not keep her heroines straight, could not look you in the eye, and could not stop blushing--and if that doesn't narrow down the possibilities, your job is even harder than I thought." (The dear lady bought the book anyway.)

A collection of wonderfully written romance from some of the best historical romance authors!!
Axel -The Jaded Gentlemen by Grace Burrowes
Axel is a widower a father of two sons and a magistrate, he’s also a lover of botany. His life is one of contentment, definitely not looking for love. When his neighbour is shot dead in his home his first suspect is the mans widow Abigail Stoneleigh. The more he investigates the more he’s convinced that Abigail is innocent, but he can’t allow his attraction to her hamper with finding the murder. This was an enjoyable romantic mystery with lots of twists and turns Grace Burrowes has blended the perfect amount of suspense and romance. I greatly enjoyed her writing.
For Love of a Duke - by Christi Caldwell
Jasper the eighth Duke of Bainbridge has become a recluse after the death of his wife until he’s coaxed into visiting the Frost Fair. He never expected to save a beautiful young woman from near drowning and his life dramatically changed. After her near death experience Lady Katherine Adamson decides to proposition the Duke and maybe he’ll help her in her delima, by avoiding a match she’ll do everything in her power to avoid.
This was such an emotional story of a man who lost the woman he loved and lost himself in his grief, a chance at love and at life with Katherine will have the reader tearing with this couples journey to love. A heartbreaking story masterfully written by a very gifted author. A wonderful cast of supporting characters make this a very entertaining and emotional read. Christi Caldwell is a must read author that always touches your soul!

This was a fast paced story full of intrigue and action that keep you glued to the pages. Tanya Anne Crosby has a gift to bringing her stories and characters to life. A real gem of a story can’t wait to read the next one!
My Enchanting Hayden - by Julie Johnston
The Duke of Rowan has travelled to New York to collect his granddaughters. After his willful daughter married and left England without ever looking back, he’s looking to reunite himself with his twin granddaughters. But life for the feisty girls are not what they expected, and instead of marriage of love they’re expected to make a ton match. This is a delightful treat, a young woman’s desire to marry for love or not at all. Definitely an enchanting read by the ever talented Julie Johnston.

Happily ever after is what we're all looking for and this is what you get when you read Erica Ridley's books.
Lord Michael Rutland Earl of Wainwright is The Lord of Pleasure, women fall at his feet no matter what he does. His reputation as a rake and a renowned lover has been more of a strain for him although it's nice to be sought after its getting to the point where there's more tale than truth. He places a wager with his friends that for 40 days there will be no mention of his name in the tabloids. Maybe then everyone will see the true Michael - the sensitive kind heart person that he really is. Until he meets Lady X their attraction is smoking hot and he knows not who she may be.
Miss Camellia Grenville has always been the dutiful daughter always doing the right thing never one disappoint her parents. When her mother summons her and gives her the news of her impending marriage Camellia is completely shocked. All those years of living a quiet life with out causing any troubles has gotten her nothing. So when the opportunity rises to do something out of her comfort zone and for a good cause she grabs it. What better place than a masquerade ball - until Lord X seduces her, the attraction is sinful but will she be the same after their passionate encounter? Will she be able to marry a man she doesn't love?
A great romance for all the romantics at heart this is the perfect read. Erica Ridley has a charming lighthearted read that leaves you satisfied when the hero and heroine get their HEA.

Lady Juliana Chase is most happy when everyone around her is happy, therefore she’s set to play matchmaker wether it’s needed or not. This doesn’t always happen without any glitches but her intentions are always meant well. Sometimes while looking to match everyone around you and looking for their happily ever after, can cost you the love of your live. This was for me the first book by Lauren Royal and it won’t be the last, I highly recommend her stories.
I was gifted a copy and this is my honest opinion.

Professor Axel Belmont is a botanist. He is trying to create the perfect rose. He is also the local Magistrate, that is why he is in a freezing saddle riding to his neighbour's estate . The man has been found dead and it's his job to find the killer.
Is Abigail Stoneleigh an innocent widow or is she a killer? She will have a lot of surprises, some very nasty and others really happy. A very different life us ahead of her.
This is a sweet historical murder/mystery / romance. The characters are complicated but fun. The story takes lots of twists and turns before we discover who our killer is.
Very enjoyable, lighthearted read.

Jasper lost his wife and son in childbirth years ago and has never forgiven himself.
This is a very emotional story, so make sure you have the tissues handy. Our heroine is a lot stronger than you will at first think.
A very enjoyable read.

This is a lovely complicated tale of twin brothers separated at birth. The secrets that everyone has been hiding from them will soon come to light.
Great fun. I now have to get the next book to read about the other brother.

Phillip De Vere, Earl of Harthorne has been left buried in debt by his father. He has done his best to save his mother from knowing just how bad it is. It seems the only way he can get out if death without upsetting her is to marry for money, not what a romantic poet like himself really wants.
This story is a lot of fun. The lengths our heroine will go to is why she is classed as a hoyden. Our poor hero is being tortured by trying to do what's best for everyone.
I loved it.

Lots of fun. All our characters are run ragged by the time our heroine is finished, including her. I think this is part of a series. If it is I will be reading the others.

Gregory Stoneleigh, the owner of a neighboring estate, is shot dead in his study...and it falls to Axel to try and identify the murderer and one suspect is his wife Abigail Stoneleigh. As Axel and Abby grow closer he's convinced that Abby's innocent of her husband’s murder, but if she didn't kill Gregory then who did. Loved this story it has murder, mystery and romance in this novel.

He’s not quite the rake I’m used to reading about facing ruin, he like to write poems; he’s happy if he has enough supplies to write his poetry. Jemma and Philip meet at a soiree where he takes a liking to the fiery Jemma. He's in a fix financially and the only solution is to marry a wealthy woman, but Jemma doesn't trust men.
Erica Ridley The Lord of Pleasure
The Lord of Pleasure, Lord Michael Wainwright is known as a rake and a despoiler of young ladies. Miss Camellia Grenville is on the verge of spinsterhood. She prefers to blend into the woodwork only ever opens her mouth when forced to by her family to sing. She finds herself betrothed to a man she has no desire to marry. Camellia takes her sister’s place at a masquerade and finds herself embroiled with the most interesting and intriguing man. Number 1 rule is no one knows who anyone else is and Camellia feels free to be herself with Lord X. Michael find himself more and more wanting to meet this mysterious woman. He has to be so careful or he will end up in the caricatures again and the butt of all jokes. I loved this story during the week Camellia would never even give Lord Wainwright the time of day, but upon occasion has giving him quite the set down with a brutal tongue lashings, but behind the masks it’s a different story.
These are all wonderful books filled escapades of mystery, intrigue and romance for everyone to enjoy. This is my honest opinions after I voluntarily read a copy of this book that was provided to me with no requirements for a review.

Jemma and Philip meet at a soiree where he takes a liking to the fiery Jemma. He's in a fix financially and the only solution is to marry a wealthy woman, but Jemma doesn't trust men.

The Lord of Pleasure, Lord Michael Wainwright is known as a rake and a despoiler of young ladies. Miss Camellia Grenville is on the verge of spinsterhood. She prefers to blend into the woodwork only ever opens her mouth when forced to by her family to sing. She finds herself betrothed to a man she has no desire to marry. Camellia takes her sister’s place at a masquerade and finds herself embroiled with the most interesting and intriguing man. Number 1 rule is no one knows who anyone else is and Camellia feels free to be herself with Lord X. Michael find himself more and more wanting to meet this mysterious woman. He has to be so careful or he will end up in the caricatures again and the butt of all jokes. I loved this story during the week Camellia would never even give Lord Wainwright the time of day, but upon occasion has giving him quite the set down with a brutal tongue lashings, but behind the masks it’s a different story.
These are all wonderful books filled escapades of mystery, intrigue and romance for everyone to enjoy. This is my honest opinions after I voluntarily read a copy of this book that was provided to me with no requirements for a review.

I enjoyed reading all six books written by six great writers.
#1 by Grace Burrowes- THE JADED GENTLEMAN.
Axel Belmont loves to graft roses and has no time to solve a murder. When his neighbor is killed he takes the case to clear the widow, Abigail Stonleigh.
#2. By Christie Caldwell-FOR LOVE OF THE DUKE. Jasper Bainbridge is in self induced exile. He finally leaves his home to go to the Frost Fair and saves Lady Katherine Adamson. His life changes after that.
#3. By Tanya Ann Crosby-THE IMPOSTER’S KISS. Twin boys are separated at birth! The father kept Merrick and the mother took Ian back to live in Scotland. Merrick finds a letter and heads to meet his mother, but gets robbed by his brother. Tanya Ann Crosby writes a great story that it’s hard to put down.
Lies, robberies, treachery and love are all woven together.

The Imposter's Kiss by Tanya Anne Crosby is the remarkable story of separated twins (The Imposter Prince, being the companion to this story, and also well worth the read)
My Enchanting Hoyden by Julie Johnstone is the very enjoyable story of an agreement of convenience that leads to love.
Erica Ridley's most pleasurable, Lord of Pleasure, is the story of a bet between friends and sister's conspiring. Can all this "help" lead to love?
Tempting Juliana is a humorous story, a part of Lauren Royal's Chase Family Series.
I highly recommend this book - nothing less than 5 stars for each book in the set.

I loved the characters. I would definitely recommend it! I have always enjoyed Tanya Anne Crosby’s books and I am looking forward to reading Ian’s story.

My review is for "The Impostor's Kiss" by Tanya Anne Crosby. Separated while infants, Merrick has always believed that his mother left him behind because she didn't want him. Enter the guilty father, the unknown twin, and the beautiful companion of his mother. The conversations and interactions between Merrick and Chloe are priceless. She doesn't understand why she thinks something is different and he just falls in love. This is a well written, fun tale of betrayal, redemption and love. I can't wait to read the next in this series.

Mediocre
Only liked 2 of the 6 besides Grace's. Some were a real chore to read. Littered with modern colloquial expressions and concepts you wouldn't see normally in quality historical romances.

Two of the books are excellent. The others not so much. Better to buy them singly and be spared the irritation.
