A breath-taking dystopian thriller set in a time and place far different from our own. Having escaped God's embrace three hundred years previously, survivors cling to existence in the wilderness. Citadel walls were built on sweat and sacrifice around a well of fresh water, protecting the community from the harsh environs of a barren country. Now that resources are depleting, scarcity has driven people to betray their deepest convictions. A decorated soldier named Julian commits an unforgivable crime, an action without sense or motive. Banished into the chaos outside the City walls, the traitor sets out on a mysterious journey to the furthest reaches of the known world. It falls to a callow police cadet and a drunken senator with dubious ethics to uncover a deception that threatens to return them all to God.
A dystopian thriller, I have to admit that I generally do not read many books of this genre. But this book, that I read was very intriguing from the start. And I really liked how the author made all the pieces come together.
First thought that came to my mind as I started this book- it is very well detailed and I would really love to watch it in form of a movie. As a writer I appreciate the beauty of words and the author, Jim here did a remarkable job at it. I loved the execution of the details and it made my reading experience even more enjoyable. In short, if the book blurb intrigues you, then it’s the book for you guys. Go for it. It won’t disappoint.
