Roxy has learned the hard way not to believe in fairy tales, but this Christmas she wants her little daughter, Mia, to have everything she's ever dreamed of. As the snowflakes start to fall over Manhattan, Roxy can no longer deny her own secret dreams—that her gorgeous colleague, James, will kiss her under the mistletoe!
James knows he needs to take things slowly with Roxy—she's been hurt before, and it's not just her heart she's protecting, it's adorable Mia's, too. But as December nights get colder, and the chemistry simmering between them gets hotter, James decides it's time to act! If Roxy will let him, maybe this Christmas he can make all her dreams come true…

Sweet, heart-warming and perfect for a cute Christmas read (I'm obviously a few months late).
I'm giving it 2.5 stars and rounding up to 3 because while it was a nice read, it was also a bit too...choppy for my liking - but then I also understand that this was a novella written in parts so...
The story of two characters we met in the first books of the series, Roxy, the single mother struggling to make it on her own, and James, her dependable, attractive colleague she's got a crush on.
Roxy, who's had a hard life and is trying to make right choices for herself and her daughter, doesn't think she has any room for relationships in her life, and is content to nurse her feelings for James from afar.
He is less inclined to let her do that, especially when he realizes that she returns his own feelings, but knowing about her past, he knows he has to be careful about approaching her.
A nice short story about two people (and a half) finally getting the happily ever after they deserve.
I was hoping to see Roxy and James get their own story, so I was happy to read this little novella. However, I really felt that they should have gotten a full fledged story! The chapters were very choppy, which may have been because it was a serial release, but that really distracted me from the plot. There also wasn't much interaction between James and Roxy in regards to courting, it was all stemming from emotions that the reader didn't see develop, so we wound up lacking that connection to the main characters. Overall, it felt padded and choppy, rather than a fluid story.
A lovely story as always from Sarah Morgan. Just the right amount of Holiday cheer and lots of tension between the H/h. I loved Roxy's spunk and the way she tried so desperately to do right by her sweetheart of a daughter, Mia. I know some readers might not have liked her negative thoughts about herself, but I found it to be realistic based on what she'd been through. And James! Yep...every woman deserves a terrific, caring, honest guy like James. *dreamy sigh* Another great addition to the series.
Roxy deserved a full story not a novella/short story! I was really drawn to Roxy. I liked that she is a fighter and a survivor. She's also a realistic dreamer who is putting a lot of hopes on Mia. And James just makes your heart melt. He is the sweetest. I like that he sees how amazing she is even though she doesn't. I like that Roxy is really into learning a word a day. It spoke to my nerdy heart so much. I wish we got more of a back story on both of them.
Love the short stories that tie up background character stories from other books So glad you wrote Roxy and Mia's story and that it was another Christmas romance ❤️❤️❤️
I thought of giving Sarah Morgan a try. So I got her 'Moonlight over Manhattan' before this. And found this as a bonus novella at the back of the ebook. Well, it just didn't work for me. The only thing I liked was the part where he gifted all those books to her daughter. That was actually touching. Other than that, I find the whole 'petite damsel carrying emotional baggage being scooped up from misery by Prince Charming and waltzing into the sunset together' plot thoroughly cliché. I could have even been fine with cliché had her writing style made up for it, but sadly it didn't. Still I liked this a notch more than 'Moonlight over Manhattan' because the dialogs sounded less pretentious and a bit more normal. I am going to happily steer clear of Sarah Morgan and her novels from now on.
Avrei veramente voluto leggerne ancora e ancora. Consigliatissimo. 😉
2.5 Short & sweet but I didn't connect with any of the characters simply because I didn't know them well enough...which is funny cos I didn't struggle with connecting with Matilda in Midnight at Tiffany's.
James & Roxy I read this online during the month of December 2016. It was on Harlequin's website as a free online read in which I read one chapter a day for a few weeks. A very good story that was for two secondary characters from the Manhattan series.
I really liked the characters when they appeared in the other novels and was excited to see that a short story was written for them. However, I wish there was more. The HEA came too quick. It's an okay novella.
