She never knew her name, only the number they used to define her. A possession of Sakkin Industries, she is being honed into a surgical weapon, trained to infiltrate and exterminate. Slowly, day-by-day, they try to erode her humanity and replace it with blind obedience and determination. For operative Eight Two, Sakkin is a second chance at life. Rescued from a massacred village, she's given a new home among their deadly trainees at the Institute. But as she's indoctrinated, the brutal training reveals she’s not like them. Conflicted, she’s torn between graduating to join Sakkin's elite ranks or lashing out against the injustice they bring to the world. Part 1 in a new series, 2055 - Escape follows on from the PRIMAL books of hard-hitting global vigilantes. It gives a glimpse into a not so distant future where security conglomerates protect the privileged few, Lascar has evolved into a sophisticated humanitarian aid outfit, and a shadow war is looming.
I won’t lie, I’m just like every other guy on the planet. I love action movies, first person shooters, fast cars, technology, guns, cool kit and of course beautiful women. I grew up with Dirk Pitt, Jack Ryan, Jason Bourne, Doom, Wolfenstein, Commando Comics, James Bond, Rambo, The Predator and more. As a young man I have embraced Counter Strike, Half-life, The Bourne Series, Top Gear, Call of Duty the list goes on and on. Coupled with my military experience this seething mass of adrenalin-fueled testosterone has evolved into PRIMAL.
A different tract from my beloved Primal series as Silkstone tries his hand at sci-fi. It isn't terrible but I still long for my Primal operatives and justice being dealt in current times. In my estimation the protagonist was underdeveloped and I did not develop the kinship I would have hoped and have come to expect in a Silkstone novel. No spoilers here but it's an average to slightly above average attempt at a new genre. I felt his (Silkstones) first attempts in action-romance with his two SEAL books was much more of a successful venture. 3.5 stars but enough of an enjoyable read to make me read the sequel.
Kidnapped children are turned into cold, heartless, killing machines... except one... and what she doesn’t know is she’s being programmed to be a very different kind of killer.
Kinda high-tech-ish, not PRIMAL as we know it - although they’re mentioned a few times in this book - but a different look at a security corporation making killers to improve their bottom line.
A good read, very different, but if you don’t find yourself cheering Eight Two and urging her to defy her master, start the book over again and really read it.
The was a fine introduction to a sci-fi rendition of the PRIMAL series. The world building was quite good, although the story takes place in a fairly limited area. The backstory of how the world fell apart was interesting and explained the current dystopia. All in all, an excellent beginning. I’m looking forward to the next volume.
I read the Kindle edition of this book. There were a few editing errors that will not take away from the readers experience. The author has done a good job of character development and the story moves along at a good pace. There are a few parallels with our current world situation. I look forward to the next in the series!
This is a little on the wild side for Silkstone. You are dealing with mechops, clankers and, Ganics, whoever heard of such things. His writing is good but trying to tie it to a tread of reality is tough. I wasn’t that impressed and I don’t have interest in any book two. I did like “Wilda” or 82, as she was assigned in this story. Her character was the best tie to reality in the book. 4
If you have enjoyed the Primal series this is a beginning of Primal in the future. Was a great beginning to what I believe is going to be a great series. Please keep the books coming Mr. Jack.
Ok, different from the other Primals but well worth the read. I absolutely loved it. A complete story, you know (or hope) there will be more but you a least aren't left in a vacuum of what's to come.
this was a good read but it took me a while to get into it unlike the older genre of PRIMAL novels. In the end it was good. Not sure if I will read future installments.
I'm not sure how to classify this book. I'm not crazy about war books but this one sucked me in from the beginning. For sci fi it is excellent. For dystopian ,terrifying.
Author insults the intelligence of the reader. It's quite obvious right away the mercenary company is heavily flawed but the author keeps over and over trying to show this. Finished with this series
I absolutely love the development of 82 and her evolution to Wilda. This gives me Battle Angel Alita vibes especially with the use of the Berserker suits. I will definitely stay on board for the chapters that follow!
Interesting substitute for the original series, I want to see how this is going to the info the original operatives with the original head man supposedly dead.
The time line is a little confusing, but the story line is still strong. You have to wonder how things will turn out for Wilda. Will she be good or bad ?
This is a fast paced book. Being a huge Primal fan I was looking forward to reading this and was not disappointed. I loved the little tidbits from Primal and look forward to the next instalment with hopefully more crossover.
I liked this very much, finding myself feeling like, why is this over? Wanting more i will wait for more but not happily. Well written, characters developed well as you get deeper into book, action , and understanding all he devices used in story pretty clear. Give it a shot, something diff for me, I liked it.
Love the story and all the characters and their interactions. I'm glad to see references back to the original Primal group. Looking forward to more along the 2055 series but feel my favorite will still be for the original Primal series. Great job!
