Eli Troyer is an Amish carpenter and has recently moved to Harmony Creek Hollow as he is now caring for his orphaned nephew. Eli feels blessed when the schoolteacher, Miriam Hartz offers to work with Eli, who is hard of hearing. Miriam is confident that she will be able to teach Eli to read lips.

In this sweet story, the time that Eli and Miriam spend together brings them very close. However, they both have sad pasts that might prevent them from ever finding happiness with each other. Eli's sadness is bone deep and it was very heartwarming to read this story as Miriam learned to work past her sadness in order to reach him.

Miriam has her own reason for sadness. She had planned on marrying but her intended chose someone else. Her pain was palpable. No wonder neither of them were prepared to find happiness and joy in their lives.

The Amish Suitor is an endearing story. I actually purchased this book because I had the third book in the series for review. As I am dedicated to reading series, I gladly obtained the prior books. While this book by Jo Ann Brown is my first read, it certainly won't be my last.

The other books in the series are The Amish Christmas Cowboy, The Amish Bachelor's Baby and the upcoming The Amish Widower's Twins.

This first book in the series introduces the characters and the Spinster Club that some Amish women organized for get-togethers. It centers on Eli and the nephew he is raising, and Miriam, a single schoolteacher. They are both members of a new developing Amish community. Both characters have a damaged past and are seeking to overcome the difficulties they are dealing with. There is a lot a excitement in this story that compounds the problems the characters must solve before they can achieve their HEA. Well written and engrossing, it a great start to a new series.

I read an arc of this book and my review is for the book I’ve read- the description in the blurb is not the correct one for the book so I assume it has been updated since this was put on goodreads- so disclaimer- the characters are likely different!

Heartwarming friends-to enemies- and back to friends. When Hagar’s mother deeds the smithy on her farm to her old friend Gideon, Hagar is curious. He ruined her chance at marriage to his best friend ten years earlier and she’s never forgiven him. But when he takes on parenting duties for his niece, her heart softens and before they know it, they find themselves confused and remembering how much they enjoyed each other’s company once. Each step of the way this book was a fascinating and realistic dive into the everyday turmoil of Amish life. Well done and can’t wait to read more from this author

Review:
This was the 2nd book ive read by Jo Ann Brown so i kind of knew what to expect and i have to say i loved this one as much as i have her other book.

The Characters were so interesting to read about. Eli and Miriam were my favorites i loved how Miriam was determined to help Eli learn how to talk and react to people since he was deaf in one ear.

The Setting was beautifully described and made me feel like i was actually in Harmony Hollow NY which in reality isnt that far from where i live.

Overall another Phenomenal Amish Fiction Book!! Can't wait to read more by Jo Ann in the future!!

Such a good book! She wants to desperately help the new guy in town who is deaf. He wants to provide a good life for his nephew who lives with him. They both help each other with learning to read lips and also take care of the nephew in the best possible way.

The Amish Suitor is a fantastic story of forgiveness written by Joann Brown in her Amish Spinsters Club series. This story is definetly one of redeeming forgiveness. This story is full of twist and turns and really keeps your interest to the end.

The characters are simply amazing. I loved Miriam because of her ability to see beyond a persons handicap and find the true person inside. The author has done an amazing job of showing her readers how to reach someone with a hearing deficit. I learned so much from this story. All the characters add to this fantadtic story.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached by anyone to post a favorable review. I have rated this book with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others who enjoy the Amish genre.

Congratulations to Joann Brown for writing another amazing story for her readers to enjoy and add to her series.

This is the first book in the Amish Spinster Club series. I am totally reading them out of order. I started randomly with book 4 or five, not knowing it was part of a series. But then I got hooked. I went to a used book site so I could get the earlier books in the series since I couldn’t get them new. I love this series. I love the depth of the characters. I love being reassured over and over again that God is good and he forgives everything. We are the ones that cannot forgive ourselves and sometimes others. And in doing that we lose so much out of life. This story is about the people that put blame on individuals when things are not their fault but sadly we live in those lies told by others. It’s also about forgiveness. Forgiving ourselves and forgiving others. A beautiful story to be sure. Although all of the books in the series are standalone, if you can start from book one and read them in order it would be better for understanding, enjoying and remembering the characters.

The Amish Suitor by Jo Ann Brown. Eli Troyer moves to Harmony Creek Hollow with his nephew to start over. He blames himself for the wall that fell and killed his nephews parents. The wall also fell on him. He is hard of hearing now and wears hearing aids. He is a carpenter. He is working on the school house for the Amish. He meets Miriam Hartz. She also moved to the town with her brother. Miriam was expected to get married but he was seeing someone else. Mariam and Eli are both healing. Mariam teaches Eli to read lips and not be shy about asking someone to repeat themselves. A good read.

I really needed a book to just make me feel warm inside, after a hard week at work, and this one did the trick! It had enough plot to keep me interested, and likeable characters. I am now reading her second Amish Spinster Club book, and hope she finishes writing the series! A great escape from reality of the Englisch! (that's us....)

I enjoyed this story because it was different in some ways than a lot of the Love Inspired books. I thought it was interesting to show a different side of Amish life when one has a disability, and how they cope and overcome that. I think that this was a great story and kept you guessing what was going to happen!

I love a good Amish romance story and this one was not a disappointment. It was interesting to learn some things about the Amish setting up a new community as well as their involvement with their English neighbors.

If you want an easy read/listen, light-hearted and wholesome this is a good book. Along the lines of a Harlequin Romance. I enjoyed listening to this book, it took only 1 afternoon (6+hrs).

New

New families start a new community and Four women form the Amish Spinster Club, at least until they marry. In between deciding which buggy style to keep, relationships form.
