A first little paperback for preschoolers who are starting to ask five big questions about machines such as tractors, airplanes, washing machines, cranes, and trains.
The book follows the pattern of asking a "why" question, adding a silly answer to the question, ex: "Why do tractors have such big tires? Is it so they can crush the other machines on the farm?" (Turn the page for the answer: "No, that's silly!" and then a brief explanation. It is set up to read playfully and have fun while learning.
Daniele Fabbri's mixed media artwork is colorful and whimsical, just the right mix for the text.
For PreS. (Text is too sophisticated to be used as a beginning reader.)
