What a lovely devotional! This is one of my favorites I’ve ever read. I grew up in the great state of Texas, and this devotional felt like HOME to me. It definitely had the country feel that I experience here in the South, but it also felt warm and inviting, like a cup of hot cocoa on a chilly winter evening. Across the pages were solid truth, quotes from historical figures, Bible verses, and some good country humor. It was especially enjoyable to have hymns featured with each devotional along the way. More often than not, I found myself singing the words rather than reading them.

I absolutely loved reading through this devotional! I loved the country charm that was intertwined throughout the book.

Each day starts off with a old fashioned hymn (often one that I grew up singing in church) and then includes a verse with some commentary and wisdom from the front porch. There are also a handful of other verses along the same theme.

I really enjoyed the “as seen on country church signs” sections that were included every so often. I also was definitely laughing out loud every time.

Overall, this was a really great devotional. I looked forward to reading it every day and spending time meditating on God’s word. This is one that I’d highly recommend for country-dwellers or people with rural roots.
