M. Louisa Locke is recently retired from over 20 years as a professor of U.S. Women's history, and she is now embarked on s second career writing historical fiction. The first book in her Victorian San Francisco Mystery series, Maids of Misfortune, is a best-seller in the historical mystery category.
This is a compilation of the tree book series plus a short story. Initially, I got book two (Under Two Moons ) as a freebie through Bookbub, and I was hooked. I didn't believe I'd need to read book one before going on to three, when I saw it was available in this compilation which included the short story ( available free via a link at the end of the standalone book two). I was right, i really didn't need to read book one to understand and enjoy the series, but it is very good. Book three left me feeling the story is incomplete, and I sincerely hope Louisa Locke decides to write a continuation to her series. I'm now interested in how the other authors in the Paradisi universe dealt with their portions of this project, but I'll be putting spending my money on that off for awhile since I've got several hundred other ebooks already loaded on my Kindle.
