Two kids, a brother and sister, prepare to surprise their dad for his special day, and there are a few throughout the year. They spend the day getting ready and making sure he is completely surprised. It’s a good idea to look innocent, so practice in the mirror. Be sure to make presents, get his toothbrush ready and even organize his shoes. Making a special cake with all of his favorite foods like stinky cheese and smoked oysters is fun too. When the special day arrives, everyone must hide and then shout surprise!

This lovely story about dads is colorfully illustrated with humor and plenty of notes and ideas for kids. Parents and caregivers can use this as a read-a-loud so kids can interact and share their own surprise stories. Simple sentence structure makes this a perfect book for beginners.

Very fun book. It's always nice to read a Daddy themed book. The story is adorable. Lots of humor and playfulness throughout. Varying font sizes, styles and boldness will keep busy eyes occupied. The illustrations work well with the story. Lots of bright colors, and background details. I love the bookshelf page where the sister is steadying her brother on the ladder. Subtle, but tender. Kids will surely enjoy reading this with their Dads and then trying out some of the suggestions. Now, how many times did you spot the kitty?

So cute! It gives really simple ideas for kids to surprise Dad. The overall illustrations and attitude are bright, cheery, sweetly mischievous, and just generally positive to read. There are a few sentences per page, distributed around the pages, and about 15 pages total.

A funny how to book on things to do, and make to surprise your dad on a special day, or any day for that matter. Entertaining read, with plenty of crafts as well.

Leímos la versión en español. A mis hijas les gustó mas que a mí. Fue un poco largo y repetitivo para mi gusto. Ellas, en cambio, se rieron en varios puntos, así que no puede ser del todo mal. ;)

A cute little book to share some sweet moments between a father and a child, one that's just as easy to read as it is delightful.

A "how to" book that teaches little ones the simple art of surprising Dad. Cute ideas! Many are what children are naturally good at already. I was delightfully surprised with the story.

Really cute book, I like the imaginative illustrations. There is a lot of attention to detail and I like how they show mom once in a while even though the main focus of this book is dad.

The perfect book to read – or have read to you – by the amazing superdad in your life! When a brother and sister duo want to surprise their dad, they work together to be stealthy and of course, as any good surprise must include, keep their father in the dark! The two have come up with a practical how-to-surprise-dad guide, which includes lessons on how to hide it among fake-titled books their dad will not read, amidst pink-heart crafts he’ll be distracted by. You can even learn how to master the art of reorganizing Dad’s stuff to throw him off your trail! Once the brother/sister duo teach you to master any-day surprises, they show you how to advance to a special day surprise, like making a special cake that looks like Dad or enlisting Mom to gather party supplies. This is a super funny, super loving guide to surprise the Super Dad who loves to read with you! Just remember to make him promise to forget all the surprise tactics! The illustrations are bright and colorful, full of laugh-out-loud call out text. This is a book the whole family will love for sure! And just in time for a great Father’s Day gift! I recently took an online class on multicultural children's literature, and the author of this book was also taking the class. She offered to share an early copy with anyone from the class who was interested in checking it out, and that's how I ended up with mine!

It's a cute story (well, "guide"/story!), with lots of humor in the words and illustrations, both aimed at kids and some as a wink to the grown-ups reading it. I think the way it's written might make it difficult to read aloud in a storytime setting, but for parents and children on their reading together I think it would be a lot of fun. I haven't read her grandma and grandpa ones before, but I'll hunt down copies now to give them a whirl!

I got the book "How to babysit a Grandma" at my baby shower for my daughter. We really loved that book. So when I saw this one at the library, I had to grab it.

This is a really cute book for kids showing all the ways you can surprise your dad for special days: birthday, father's day, etc). I have always loved how the information is displayed on the pages and the humor that it throws in.

We actually had dad in the room while we read this book, so he took the pledge at the end!

A super cute book for young kids. I think my daughter will enjoy reading this one for years to come. We purchase a new book related to dad for Father's day each year, and I think this might be our book for next year. =)

The creators of How to Babysit a Grandpa and How to Babysit a Grandma provide great tips for surprising a father in this picture book. The digital illustrations and humorous text offer easy-to-do ways to please a father, but the children and their mother pull out all the stops to make sure he has no idea what they're trying to do. They even have a book--this one--filled with ideas that they keep hidden from him. This one might be ideal for sharing on Father's Day. It might be hard to tell who's smiling more and getting a bigger kick out of the surprise--Dad or kids.

Two kids think up fun and inventive ways to surprise their dad. The book reinforces the power of imagination and a child’s ability to come up with fun things to do and play from simple objects and tasks. From hiding their book on surprising dad to giving it a code name (“Polka-Dotted Hippo”) to planning a surprise party, this book encourages kids to play on their own and come up with inventive ways of playing.

It's a cute book and an even cuter concept. Dads need some lovin' too, y'all!
I think I enjoyed it more than I anticipated because it reads like children wrote it. I've definitely overheard kids in the libs talking about surprises in this manner, so it's definitely relatable.

I do feel sad for the kids who don't have dads :(

Good read.

This book is another great book by the author Reagan and illustrator Wildish. This book is similar to "How to babysit a grandpa" and in this sequel they want to surprise their dad. This is for an elementary age students and is similar in format to previous books.
