From the author of Prescott Family, comes the next installment in the Enforcers of San Diego interconnected series, featuring a widower father who learns: sometimes forever has been in front of you all along...
After growing up in a household without a mother and with a father who could not care less, Mikey Leeds took his world into his own hands. Being drafted into the Ontario Hockey League at seventeen, then the National Hockey League at eighteen, should have been the height of his dreams...but that was only the icing on the cake.
Moving to Canada for hockey was only the beginning of the good life. It also brought him Trina Perri.
Life was good. Life was perfect.
And it all came crashing down one night in late December.
Year after year, the twenty-second of December brings darkness into Mikey's life. He can't catch a break.
This December, he's taking a page from his own book. He's going to take back his life, and not let hockey superstitions hold him back.
He has an angel on his side, while another has always been in front of him. He just needs to see the assist for what it is, and not let her go...
Mignon Mykel is the author of the Prescott Family series, as well as the short-novella erotic romance series, O'Gallagher Nights. When not sitting at Starbucks writing whatever her characters tell her to, you can find her hiking in the mountains of her new home in Arizona.
Oh my goodness, I love Mikey Leeds! I feel like I have been waiting for his story forever. It was everything I thought it would be and so much more ❤️
Mikey Leeds is a good hockey player, a great day and bad at communication! I wanted to thump over the head a few times for things he’d say to Molly. Molly is an amazing Nanny/Mom to Mikey’s son. She is sweet and stubborn. A real and true friend.
I absolutely loved seeing all the familiar faces and getting snippets of their lives. I cannot wait for Jonny’s story!
I love Mignon Mykel’s writing. Her stories are always amazing and her words just seem to flow perfectly.
She saw him having sex with another woman at his house.==>
It was his strong backside, his tight ass, as he knelt behind a woman on all fours, his muscles bunching and moving with each roll of his body, each thrust of his hips.
Mignon Mykel has crafted a story that pulls all of your heartstrings. Mikey was so easy to fall head-over heels for. This was a unique read. The angst was real folks!!!!
I love hockey. I love reading. I’m leery to read books about hockey. I get hung up on details and can’t read any kind of book that gets details wrong. I feel like authors who write about a topic better know about the topic. Let me tell you, this author KNOWS hockey. I was sucked in. I had zero problems believing the story and losing myself with Mikey and Molly. Let me tell you I loved every part of this book. Hockey? Check. Forbidden-ish romance? Check. Single dad? Check. Mikey...let’s first talk about that name. At first I wasn’t sure I could buy the idea of a tough and sexy grown man being named Mikey. But no worries, it totally works with this character. And I adore how she calls him Mike when she’s mad. Mikey loses his wife, Trina in a tragic accident that changes dramatically. He’s left with his infant son and he needs help so he continues to employ their nanny, Molly. Molly was his wife’s best friend and she loves Anderson as if he’s her own. Move forward and now Anderson is ten, does he still need a nanny and what will Mikey do if Molly is no longer his employee? Mikey and Molly have a love hate thing going on and they are both loyal to Trina. The title of this book is so poignant and I actually didn’t even realize its significance until I was done and it just made me love the book on a whole other level. Highly recommended, very cute, sexy and touching. I vaguely remembered some of the characters in this book and then realized I had read a book by this author awhile ago. Guess what my weekend plans are?
Mignon Mykel has spun her magic again and I couldn't resist these words. 25: Angels and Assists is a heartbreaking tale of love, loss, grief and the strength to move on despite the pain. Mignon doesn't shy away from tough subjects and 25 was emotional and addictive all rolled into one beautiful story. I woke up in the middle of the night and had to finish because I couldn't sleep till I knew the ending. Mikey Leeds is a character who you'll want to throw something at but hug the next chapter. I'm sure you'll fall for him as hard as I did. I truly can't wait to see what Mignon has in store for us next! 5 "Angel" stars for 25: Angels and Assists by Mignon Mykel
*** Reviewed for Sweet & Spicy Reads - ARC provided for an honest review ***
Anyone who has read any of my reviews knows that I hate triangles/OW/OM drama. For me, I like my fictional romances to be about the main couple and for them to be their one true love. So when I came across this one and saw that the Hero had been married, had a child and lost his soulmate tragically and that heroine was his wife's BF, I thought no way. When you have a Hero who has had the one-of-a-kind first love that I love to read in romance books, and has lost her tragically to boot, then for me, any kind of "love" & attraction he feels for the heroine is second best and not as great as before. This is why I don't read these type of romances. However, with "25: Angeles & Assists", the epic love that I truly felt Mickey had for Trina, didn't seem to spoil the romance with Molly which was surprising in itself.
The romance between Mickey & Molly took a long time to happen. His wife had been dead for eight or nine years before anything between them happened and it took Mickey a long, long time to get over her death. Molly was more then a nanny. She not only took care of raising his son Anderson, but she also shopped, cooked & cleaned. In fact, it was I believe at 75%-80% before anything happened between them. .
I cried many tears in this book (sad & happy ones!) because it is well written and you will get all the "feels" - good & bad, and even though I would have preferred to have read about Mickey & Trina's romance, it was still worth it as the epilogue made up for it!
Note: This review is for an ARC and is my unbiased review.
Mignon Mykel is one of the authors I wish more romance readers knew about. I love her writing. All of her characters have interesting stories that are emotionally deep. I especially love her hockey romances. 25: Angels and Assists is one of my new favorites of hers.
25: Angels and Assists had my emotions on high alert from the beginning. I had no idea Mikey had been through so much! The loss of his wife was so devastating. I hurt for him and what his loss meant — but I loved his new love interest. Molly was his wife’s best friend / his son’s nanny. Even when they weren’t together, they created a special little family. Their relationship started out rocky and was an emotional rollercoaster, but the pay off was worth it! Mikey and Molly were perfect for each other. I loved every minute spent with them.
Another thing I loved in this book, as well as Mykel’s other books, was the attention given to the sport. 25: Angels and Assists had some great professional hockey scenes. I felt like I learned a few things about the sports that I didn’t know before. It’s always fun to learn something new.
If you’re a fan of hockey romances, you really need to check Mignon Mykel’s books! They’re emotionally raw, filled with great characters, and wonderful love stories.
I'm going to be honest, this is the first book I've read from author, Mignon Mykel but I can truly say that I'm not disappointed in reading this one at all :) and later on when I finish posting my reviews of "25. Angels and Assists: Enforcers of San Diego #3", I'm going on a binge of reading some of her old stories :)
What I can say is that this story comes with every emotion you can possibly think of... especially when Mike (the male lead) lost his wife a decade ago and all he has left is his kid and his nanny, Molly (she's the female lead in this story). As the years go by after Mike's wife's death, Mike starts to feel something for Molly as vice versa too, both unaware of it though, the push/pull begins and Molly always comes back because in reality, Mike and his adorable kid are her true and only family <3
Mike feels guilty of the feelings that he has for Molly and pushes her away numerous times but always brings her back (in his mind, it's for his kid, but it's for him too; he's in denial, he can't resist having her near). Molly is the same way, she pushes her feelings for Mike away, partially guilty because Mike's wife was her best friend and she feels guilty too. She loves Mike's kid as her own flesh and blood, since she's been there since he was born. I loved her love and devotion for him <3 :) There's also lot of guilt in this story but their friends also help these two realize that they are meant for each other :)
I don't want to spoil everything for you guys, so go read this, you won't regret it :) But what I will tell you guys is that there's plenty of push/pull in this story between Mike and Molly; feelings of guilt, both thinking that they can't be together; miscommunications; some misunderstandings; steamy moments; both non celibate during the years but once they sleep together once, they're celibate; some confusing moments for this couple; realizations of being in love and knowing that it's time to move on from the past to embrace the future and that it's okay to do so. This couple have to go through a lot of obstacles that life and themselves throw into their way for over a decade of roller-coaster ride after roller-coaster ride to reach their happily ever after... and they did, with a beautiful family and great and supportive friends <3 :)
Ms. Mykel has completely outdid herself!!! I’ve been in a funk and have kind of been starting and pausing books this week. I didn’t want to read Mikey’s story feeling like that so I put it off a couple days. This morning I was still feeling funky but decided I was going to let Mikey pull me out of my funk. And boy am I glad I picked this book up! Because guess what? I was reading and loving what I was reading again!! This book and these characters!! I’m telling you!!
Mikey, this man has stolen my heart. Porter and Mikey, I’m not sure who I like more right now. They’re my favorite two Mignon men! But anyways, Mikey..... he’s sweet, has had a tough go of life. But it takes the right person and the right time to change that. And in walks the right person. And the rest of the Prescott family and the O’Gallagher family. You get a glimpse of just about everyone!! And you’re emotions will be tested a little too, but in the perfect way! I love this book and I adore Mikey and his family! Just so much love!!! ❤️❤️
I absolutely love hockey romances and Mignon Mykel is my go to author for this genre, but whether you like hockey or not, you’ll fall in love with this story and devour every word, I promise.
Mikey has experienced both euphoria and tragedy, but finally getting to a place in his life where he knows he’s ready to move on makes for another amazing book in the Enforcers series! Talk about a story packed with incredible depth, emotion, intensity, frustration, and of course, love. Mikey’s road to happiness continues to be a rough one and I had my fingers crossed for him. Not only did I cheer for the Enforcers while reading some great hockey action, I cheered for Mikey to get his happily ever after!
A heartwarming story about tragedy and struggle and coming to terms with the curve balls life throws at you.
This was a sweet little story and was also my first book from Mignon.
I really like Mikey Leeds. He was an intense character who experienced a lot in his young life. But you could tell he was just trying to do right by his son. I enjoyed the back and forth between Mikey and Molly. Though I must admit, they sucked at communication. The majority of this book was the two of them dancing around each other, saying the wrong thing or thinking the wrong thing. And when they finally did start talking- without holding back, I just wanted them to hurry up and get together already! This had a nice ending though I longed for more. I am definitely interested in checking out the other book Ms. Mykel has written, including the ones that tie into this book!
Mikey's story broke my heart. He never had much of a family to speak of, so when he fell in love with his wife, his world was perfect until one night shattered it all and left him alone with his young son. The one person who saw him through his darkest days was his wife's best friend and their nanny Molly. Somewhere over the years, Molly became Mikey and his son's family and he never even saw it coming. The feelings between Mikey and Molly are so real, but Molly is so torn because she saw the love between Mikey and Trina and doesn't ever think he can love her the same way.
This is such a good story about moving on and finding love the second time around. Mikey and Molly took a lot of years to get to where they ended up, but they were meant to be. Molly was a fierce mother figure to Anderson even as the nanny. It was hard not to love her as she looked after this little boy as her own. This was such a good read in this series. I wish it was a little longer of a story since I didn't want it to end.
Whether you like hockey or not, you’ll fall in love with this story and enjoy every word.

Do you love hockey? How about HOT Hockey Players? I am not a hockey expert but this author seems to knows how to combine a beautiful love story and verbiage of a fan. Well that is my assumptions anyway (hee hee). Ugh it always touches my heart when a storyline looks at finding love again after loss. This wonderful read is a win win. Widowed hockey player vs sweetheart nanny with adorable little boy added to keep things interesting. You can read this as a stand-alone but I highly recommend you check out the others in this series. Plan for lovely stories that always include the right amount of drama and heat (wink wink). Happy Reading!
And what I can say is wow. I literally finished this in a night. Be prepared to be frustrated, angry, and have those sweet loving moments when it comes to these characters. They had me feeling every emotion known to man. Ms. Mykel does an amazing job of giving her characters depth and realism. Though there were a few minor type-o’s, the story was so absorbing that they were easy to overlook. Absolutely worth the read and I recommend you grab this one and you’ll probably want to get the rest. I’ve already gone and bought the first two so I can get caught up!
It's been 10 years in the making but Mikey is now ready to move on with his life after a devastating loss which left him a single father to Anderson. Molly has been Anderson's nanny since he was born and loves him like her own son. There are changes coming but are they ready for it?
I have been waiting for Mikey’s story and it was so worth the wait. I have loved this series, but I think the author may have outdone herself with this one. It has all the feels and by the end it may make a believer of you as well.
So many goosebumps!! Chills. This book is so great!! Mikey's story was very emotional. He has been through a lot in his life, being a young widower father. His one blessing is Molly, who has been a constant fixture in both his and his sons life. With his son getting older, and his attraction to her becoming unbearable, will it dive her away? Fantastic continuation in this series, love the players in these books. Not only can this author write steam, emotional relationships, and love, she can write about hockey. I love this series!!
I have to go with five stars on this one, it has it all. I love hockey player romance, I love the relationships within a hockey team, and I love to revisit characters from earlier in the series. Hockey players seem to love harder than any other hero and Mikey is no different, his love for Molly and Anderson is so full and complete you can just feel it through the pages. The women who love hockey players are so special. This book had great characters and a well-written storyline. Easy to recommend this book if you love a great love story with lots of emotion.
25: Angels and Assists by Mignon Mykel is Book 3 in the Enforcers of San Diego series; an ice$hockey sports romance series. Wow, Mignon has once again hit the nail on the head with this emotionally charged instalment to the Enforcers series. Hits you right in the heart from The Prologue to the Epilogue. I absolutely adored Mikey, his lady, and his family. 25 is written well, has a consuming story with raw, real and heartbreaking moments, but it’s not something I could put down. If you’ve read Mignon before, you know she is amazing in everything she does and this one is no different. If you haven’t, start right now, you will not be disappointed.
All I can say about this book, is that it did not disappoint. Mike Leeds found his HEA with a few hiccups on the way. I absolutely loved reading this book, though this is mike's book, we get to see how his friends are coping. Ms. Mykel brings in the element of life in her books ( this is a fictional series). I look forward to reading the next book in this series, which I have a feeling will bring in a lot more emotions and we will see how everyone is coping with their lives.
I'm not a puck bunny BUT I'd be willing to be one; IF it meant ending up as a forever to one of these leading men, lol :). How can you not continue to fall head over heels for the chracters and their stories? I ALWAYS laugh and cry while reading works by Mignon.
This was my first book by this author and she didn't disappoint at all. This was also my very first hockey book and I just might have found a new team to root for. I loved how much Mikey Leeds loved... Not just Molly, but his family and team. I loved Molly and I also wanted to shake her at times, but she finally woke up and seen what was standing right in front of her. This is a must click... Now to adventure back and read the others.
Another fabulous read my Mignon. I fell to ally in love with Mikey and Molly in this story. Both stole my heart in different ways. I totally recommend this book to be read.
I received a copy of this book to review from the author/publisher.
After growing up in a household without a mother and with a father who could not care less, Mikey Leeds took his world into his own hands. Being drafter into the Ontario Hockey League at eighteen, should have been the height of his dreams...but that was only the icing on the cake. Moving to Canada for hockey was only the beginning of the good life. It also brought him Trina Perri. Life was good. Life was perfect. And it all came crashing down on night in late December. Year after year, the twenty-second of December brings darkness into Mikey's life. He can't catch a break. This December, he is taking a page from his own book. He is going to take back his life, and not let hockey superstitions hold him back. He has an angel on his side, while another has always been in front of him. He just needs to see the assist for what it and not let her go...Again.
I have been reading Mignon Mykel books since she first starting writing them. She never fails to blow me away with every book that I get to read. 25 is not different. I fell so in love with Mickey Leeds. Oh my goodness can we not clone him and have a Mikey of our very own?? He has lived through a tragedy, is a single dad, a hockey player....need I go on?? Mikey loses his wife in a tragic accident and is left with an infant son. No doubt he needs help and that comes in the form of the girl he hires to be his nanny, Molly. Molly also happens to be his wife's best friend and already loves his son like he is her own so she is perfect. Fast forward to the future and Anderson the son is now ten and Mikey isn't so sure he needs Molly to be a nanny anymore. However these two have some serious chemistry and a love hate relationship. What will Mikey do if Molly is no longer in his life. You have to read to find out. I will however tell you that your going to love this book and not be able to put it down. Also when your done you will understand the title of the book and swoon just a little bit harder than you already were.
this is a hard one to leave a good review for without spoiling a thing! At first I was only going to give this four stars as I was reading. Then there was a turning point where I couldn't put it down! If you read any mignon Mykel books before, you see plenty of familiar names - I love that. There are spoilers in this book if you haven't read her previous works, so if you've never read anything before, do yourself a favor and go back to the beginning with Interference. You'll enjoy this so much more with all the backstory. Back to this one, the angel part is pretty literal, and moving. Of course I cried, I assumed I would, but this had beautiful moments, not just sad. Moments that gave me hope that things like this really happen in real life.
Heart warming read of a second chance at a life changing love. Quick and romantic read with all the feels of a sweet and swoony man, courting the skittish woman that fears being second to a ghost. I really enjoyed this story!
I can’t tell you how much I loved Mikey Leeds’ story. This whole series has been amazing but this this was my favorite enforcers book so far. Mikey and Molly are EVERYTHING ❤️
I love this world that Mignon has created so much! I can’t get enough! The prologue had my heart breaking and I couldn’t read on fast enough to find out what was going to happen to Mikey, the main character I already loved. Life got in the way otherwise I would have read it in one sitting! I was obsessed with this story.
Mikey has been through a lot in his life with a fast track hockey career and a beautiful wife. When disaster strikes, he must figure out how to move on as a single father. Molly has stuck by Mikey through all the tragedy whether either of them wanted her to or not. Suddenly, feelings start to shift and change. They both feel it but are also terrified of what it could mean.
Their relationship is not an easy one and they share a lot of grief and loss. I loved watching them interact and push the boundaries when they needed to. Grief is unique to each person and the way it was written into this story was beautifully done.
Mikey definitely has more than one angel on his team.
I love that we continue to get glimpses of characters from past books. It doesn’t take away from the story at all; it adds to the character development and creates a deeper layer of love for these characters and this world.
If you like sports romance books, especially hockey, you need to pick this book, and this series, up right now! Trust me, I’m a huge hockey fan and can tell you that Mignon knows what she’s talking about!
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
I have been a fan of Mignon Mykel for a long time. I have been waiting for this book because of the prominence that Mikey held as a secondary character in this author’s previous works. This wait was well worth it. I loved the book and finished it in a matter of hours. I could not put it down!
Mikey is one of those characters that you can not help but fall in love with. He is kind and protective. However, most of all, he is a good father. Mikey is a character that is not hard to root for and is one that readers should really get to know.
Molly is the perfect heroine. She is strong, smart, and kind. She is the perfect match for Mikey. All in all, this was not who I expected for Mikey, but is someone who is completely right for him.
As a reader, this book gave great insight into Mikey and Molly’s lives. It was a robust story and one that did not shy away from the realities of life. All in all, this is a class Mignon Mykel read that should not be missed!
After a rough childhood, Mikey Leeds changed his life for the better. He got himself a great career playing a sport he loved, a loving wife and a baby. Then he lost his wife on a fateful December night. Molly has been with Mikey’s family since his wife was alive. More than Anderson’s nanny and the only mother he’s ever known, she was Trina’s friend. After years of pushing and pulling, Mikey has decided to come to terms with his feelings for Molly, but her position in his household and her misplaced loyalty to his late wife, keep preventing them from moving forward. I really enjoyed Mikey and Molly’s story. Once again the author delivers a fast paced, well written story filled with a love that conquers all. The backstory and the way they both relate to Trina were among my favorite parts of the book. I’m once again left with the feeling of having spent time with family and can’t wait for whatever Mignon gives us next.
4 stars *Received an ARC for which I voluntarily provided an honest review*
