The Tenth Girl #6

As Long As You Hate Me

Kara

High school sweethearts. What a load of bull.

He might have been my first love, but it never meant I wanted to hear lyrics containing my name, love story, and *cringe* how I lost my virginity peddled out for the masses to digest.

Seven years later, and I’m still being haunted by his photo in every magazine, his music on every radio station. I thought breakups meant that you never had to see the person again. Especially when they ripped out your heart and made hamburger meat with it.

But when a chance encounter ends up going viral, I’m tied to him in a way I’ve always dreaded. And the last person on earth I’d want to spend an hour with, much less a lifetime, makes me an offer I can’t refuse. I might just be desperate enough to take it.

Dean

The girl in the song is real. And she’s made me a rich man.

I’ve been dedicating choruses to her for a decade, she’s the muse she never wanted to be. Off of our love, I’ve become famous … and a complete egomaniac.

When another one of my flings goes off the rails, and lands me in hot water with the media, my recording label is less than thrilled. And so comes the marching orders from my agent; devise a scheme to transform into a squeaky clean good guy.

Coming face to face with her is something I’ve only dreamed about. If not to win her back, then to at least apologize for the ways I’ve exploited her. Instead, I rope her into my madness, proposing a deal only a masochist would accept.

"We fit like two puzzle pieces in the same box, the two of us surrounded by hundreds of other kids at Elm Hill High School but only meant for each other."

Thrumming with an undeniable sexual tension, Carrie Aarons will keep you glued to the page. AS LONG AS YOU HATE ME—her new contemporary romance—had me on a roller coaster of emotions... I laughed, I wanted to punch people, Dean & Kara specifically, and at the end, I fell in love.

Before Hollywood and the rock star status, Dean & Kara were school sweethearts. She was his muse. He was her world. But it wasn't their moment. Mistakes were made, and hearts were broken. Seven years later, Dean is back with a deal that Kara cannot resist no matter how much she hates him.

OMG! These two. They had me wishing I could reach inside the story and slap both of them. She was childish and he was... he was... gah! A delicious prick. The fact that they didn't learn from their past mistakes had me going crazy! But no matter how much I dislike some of their actions, I couldn't put the book down. I was completely sucked into the story from page one.

I truly enjoyed this book. Everything flowed easily. Carrie Aarons' writing style is one of my favorites. Her books are the kind of books that you devour in one sitting, and this one was no different.

As Long As You Hate Me is a sexy, angsty, well written, second chance/rockstar romance that you won't be able to put down.

"Kara was the muse for every lyric, every chorus. And she'll be the only one in the crow of thousands I see when my moment on that stage finally comes."

"I just want one moment to breathe in the space where she and I exist again."

I truly enjoyed this book by Carrie! It's no secret that I love her books and I want to read more by her. I am also a big sucker for friends to lovers stories and second chance as well. Add this with the rockstar vibe and you have me 100% intrigued!

Kara and Dean were high school sweethearts in a small hometown. They were in love, nonetheless their differences, the bleachers of the school like a second home to them. Until something happened and their paths were parted. Now seven years later, they meet again and Dean makes her an offer. Kara seems hesitant after everything that happened, but she has to consider everything before she makes her decision.

"No lyric, no spoken word, can ever compare to you like this."

Like I mentioned I really enjoyed this book, but there were a few things that didn't impress me. Some things were too obvious for example and the way they were handled , let's just say that been there, done that. Other than that, it was a quick, light and lovely read. If you like these tropes then you should give it a chance :)

Hmm...

This had every predisposition of being a fantastic 'enemies-to-lovers/second-chance-at-love' romantic drama

BUT

I absolutely hated the male character/ he wasn't a redeemable asshole, he was just an asshole, dislikable one for sure...

I dislikedhis actions, his thoughts, his reasoning and explanations...

And well, in the end i disliked them both as a couple, but since the female character so eagerly 'forgave' the 'misunderstanding' between them, and when he suddenly needs to clean up his image, and block the bad impact from a rape charge from one of his 'sex groupies'/casual fucks...after 7 years of them being apart and with such an animosity between them...the whole 'fake fiancee' ordeal seemed pointless and kinda unbelievably stupid move from the heroine (i mean the 'money issues' are kinda worn out by now)...

So, all in all, it was too pointless, too lame and too predictable to be credible ir interesting for me.

I tried to like this, but right from the start things put me off.

For instance, the cover. Dean has beach blond longish hair and has a pretty sunny disposition. Dude on cover looks like a throwback to the emo movement; black hair and broody looking. I loathe when the cover does not reflect the characters in the book!

Second, this is a story of misunderstandings. Everything that happens is because of a misunderstanding. So in other words, she fucked up all those years ago by not listening to him. Then everything else is based on that misunderstanding. AND the ending is another misunderstanding.... yawn!

Third. Dean was a douche at the beginning of the story. The way he planned all this with his agent. And then when he had another woman in the house while the heroine was there. I fucking hated him right then.

Then suddenly he becomes too damn sweet! I mean the dude was dripping love all over the damn place. He was so sticky, mushy lovey dovey sweet that even I thought he could have benefitted from a bit of bitterness or edge. And that kind of sudden personality split turned me off. this dude lost a lot of his appeal.

Fourth, the heroine did nothing to garner my sympathy. I just didn't like her.

And finally, I read this book about 25 times. With different names, by different authors... And sadly, in my opinion, this version bombed.

Before Dean was the rock star the world knew, he was just a smalltown boy and the love of Kara's life until he moved to Hollywood and got caught up in the fame and fortune and broke her heart. Years later, she still hates him and doesn't listen to his music even though she knows that when he does sing -his lyrics are all about her. Now ten years later, he is back in town for our friend's wedding and with a proposal of his own. He wants Kara to become his fake girlfriend and eventually fiancee, and he is in some deep trouble himself. Dean has become the poster boy of some accusations of rape. I thought this issue was timely as the world seems to be caught up in the frenzy of the #metoo issue. Not that some or the majority of accusations are real, but there is a minority that is lies and slander, which is the case for Dean. Can Kara help clear Dean's name, even if it means having all those repressed emotions and memories come bubbling to the surface and having to relive some of her worst times? Will this fake relationship turn into something real for the pair of them when the lines of what is a fake and real start to blur? Find out in this Second Chance Rockstar Romance - As Long As You Hate Me by Carrie Aarons coming to a bookstore this holiday season.

I always feel bad giving 1 star or less with any review but I have no way of tracking an author I want to avoid in future if I don't. so without further adieu here are some of my thoughts to accompany the 1 star rating...........

Codswallop the whole thing was just like dragging nails down a chalkboard ...the characters, plot etc was poor the writing however was cringe cringe bad quality on another level.

It was free on KU and all I will say is I would have been shouting for a refund had I paid for it!

the hero was an absolute tosser and the heroine an idiot but do you know what it was the dialogue they were given and the character development that made them that way. They should have been paper cut outs!

ENGLISH REVIEW

“Dean Jacobs, will you always love me?”
“Until the river run dry and the moon goes black.”

Well, I have to tell you in first place that I’ve had never read something from this Author before, and I have to tell you that I have mixed feelings, because I do love this kind of drama, the kind of the School Sweethearts gone in different ways and years later they see each other again with bad feelings between them and a chance for save the love in them, but then there are few things that can happened wit this kind of story, and the plots could be different.

In first place you have a Dean the sexy-hot-man whore-prick-Rockstar that who does not care about anything other than himself and his reputation, until he is accused by a Top Model for rapping her, that’s when his manager creates an infallible plan ... reunite him with his ex and commit them, to create the false illusion that he is a one-woman boy.
In the other hand you have a Kara who is a new graduate dermatologist trying to live her life in peace, stuck in her hometown just to avoiding all the stuff that have to do with her ex (magazines, tv, radio) because he broke her heart seven years ago, cheating on her in his early years of fame.

So, what happen when they see each other again in the wedding of a high school friends? There is sexual tension, love, rage and all those feeling that you, normally, have when you still love your ex… I guess lol. And that instantly got me attached to the book the entire time.

But then I had to calm myself to not try to enter in the book and slap them both in every conflict they have, because they were so childish, they were so cute together that I wanted to make amends for them and I almost wanted to go and find a boyfriend for me… almost.

“Yeah, but you want so much more with me now. You want to kiss me, love me and marry me…” He sings the last sentence, just like one of my favorite scenes in Miss Congeniality.

About the book

I love that the read is simple and easy going, and have you wanting see them together again and forgetting the past, all the things that him made for her where very sweet, that all of his songs were about her ‘cuz he never stopped to love her, and that he has made her sing the contract to try to win her it is a brave move.
I like that I saw myself in Kara, I guess that anyone who has a broken heart do react the way that she does, I know that she only accepted his offer for the money but also in the deep because she still loved him and wanted to be with him.

What I do not like entirely and have a lil’ bit furious was that I expected that Dean could be a little more prick with her sometimes before he confesses his undying love for her (I can’t help it I love the prick ones) but he gives in very soon to everything she says and she sometimes is very stubborn and that frustrated me.

So, I give it a 4 of 5 stars just because I expected a more drama at the end of the book, that he would apologize to her at a concert, don’t know, something juicier, outside of that, if you are looking for an easy second chance at romance that don’t has much drama, As Long As You Hate Me is definitely your book.

"I still wasn’t sure I was ready to give this a real shot,
But I have to admit it to myself
I was falling for my fake fiancé"

I really wanted to like this book.

OMG. I so wanted to like this book. I love rock stars and second chances. It seemed perfect for me.

*Spoiler Alert*

I was going along really enjoying the book. The main characters were still fighting but they were living together. Separate rooms but in his mansion so anything could happen. She was being a but of a b**ch but I was OK with it at this point. I liked him and was rooting for him to win her over. Then 33% in and she catches him getting a BJ from a strange woman in his room right down the hall from her room. I was disgusted and disappointed. Obviously, this character had no respect for the person he claimed to love. I couldn't read any further. It may not have been cheating but it wasn't too far from it.

As I said, I was enjoying the book until this point so if you can stomach his behavior then I urge you to read the book. Otherwise, pass on this one.

As Long As You Hate Me turned out to be a little different from what I had in mind when I picked it up. Actually, I was ready for an exhilarating love/hate romance, filled with trips down memory lane and great music as a background. Although this second-chance-to-love read delivered on some aspects, I couldn't really connect with the characters and that was my biggest problem.

The good premise and the solid writing weren't enough to make the story pop and its characters to shine. After the first 25%, I lost interest mainly because of Dean's insufferable behavior. He had a good story to tell with a rich past due to his family issues, but I couldn't really trust him or feel sorry for him after how he treated his supposedly "one true love"!

I couldn't forgive him for coming home with dubious, to say the least, intentions and a far too complicated problem in his hands. only to dump it into Kara under the pretense of mutual benefits. Kara also had her good moments but she was too childish for the biggest par. Her low self-esteem coming straight from the ordeal she lived with him the first time around was also somewhat tiresome.

Seriously her going back to him even as a fake fiancee was far too easy for my liking. As was the "let's put the blame on misunderstandings" trope. I believe wholeheartedly that what happened in their past was unavoidable. Even if Dean wasn't to be blamed at the time, he would have done something to screw it up eventually.

So yes, I would have preferred a version where he made a mistake, didn't come home because of his guilt and wrote those songs as an apology to her, and not what I actually read. Dean needed to fly solo in order to make it and Kara had her own important plans and aspirations ahead of her. A betrayal would have been better, bringing depth and real emotional turmoil into the mix and a great reason for him to grovel. Oh, well.

MISCHELENIOUS THOUGHTS AND HIGHLIGHTS ✎

♛ I liked the first few scenes.
♛ I also liked the flashbacks.
♛ I thought her parents were awesome in the beginning but the moment she was ready to move out their only concern was her economic stability and not her heart. She was a mess for years the first time they broke up and now they give their blessings without any thoughts on the matter?
♛ And what about those rape allegations? I understand completely that Dean wasn't someone who would ever do such a thing, but I would be apprehensive if I was in their shoes.
♛ I get why the author decided to have Dean with a fuck buddy the same time Kara was a room away but it could have been handled better.

When it comes to second chance romance books, they are an automatic read for me. Love to see how two people can be so broken that they split up and then reading about them building themselves back up.

As the case with Dean and Kara. High School sweethearts nothing could separate them. Promises were made, firsts were shared…
Dean and Kara saw nothing outside their love for each other no matter what was going on outside their love for each.

After graduation, Dean heads to California to make it as a rock star. Kara stayed home and lived her Jersey Gal life. While Dean is thriving in the music scene, Kara is studying and being the good college student.

One video, that’s all it took for their walls to come tumbling down…

Now 7 years later, can the wall be rebuilt or will the tumbled wall be unrepairable?

This was a slighting unusual take on a second chance at love.

Dean and Kara were a young couple in love who were ripped apart by distance misunderstanding and jealousy.

Dean goes on to become a world famous musician one who has the reputation to go with it. The songs he writes detail the relationship with Kara so even if she wanted to forget it proves impossible.

When Dean comes back home it’s the first time they’ve seen each other in years and the chemistry between hasn’t ebbed at all. This was the part that I hated Dean because he has an ulterior motive. Kara is persuaded into a fake relationship to get Dean out of a publicity nightmare.

At time’s the dialogue is quite juvenile and I just wanted to knock their heads together. It was an enjoyable story with characters I liked but I didn’t love them.

I found it difficult to like either of these characters. The story itself had potential from the blurb (which I rarely read) unfortunately, it just didn't pan out for me. High school sweethearts that are separated for years is always a good place to start but the reason why Dean returns is difficult to stomach. Without giving away anything I just wished that he'd come for a different reason not for personal gain. The ending was good.

DNF at 35%

He brings another woman home. She hears them and catches them in his bedroom as the OW is giving him a blowjob. He sees her and smirks at her.

That’s enough to make me stop reading right there. But no! It gets worse.

Next day, he apologizes. He explains who the OW is. And then, she just about forgives him!!!

No. Thank. You.

It's #live!! Go get your copy now (;

Rock star romance? Hmm, yes please! I love me some rock-stars. I feel like I have loved every single one that I've read. Emphasis on the feel, because I'm sure that's not true. I just simply cannot think of one right now.
Anyway, rocks-star romances are one of my favorite tropes to read and I was delighted to read this one!
And it was everything I thought it would be! Filled with angst, sexual tension, a little drama (it comes with the life style), so many cute moments & memories, and a lot of LOVE. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this!

Dean and Kara had been high school sweethearts but things didn't quite work out as they hoped once Kara went to college and Dean went off to pursue his dream of being a musician. Years later, Dean finds himself being accused of rape, so to fight off all the negative media, he and his publicist come up with the plan. You see everyone has always wanted to know who the girl in his lyrics was, and revealing that information could out weight all the talking about the rape accusation. So the plan was to not only reveal Kara's identity to the world but also have them rekindle their relationship, and faking an engagement. Only neither of them had ever gotten over each other, and there was a lot of anger and resentment towards each other and the way things ended. That sure made their reunion very interesting!

Dean was so damn romantic. It really was a pleasure to read about him and his love for Kara that never wavered. They both were wronged by the media and they - the media and their tricks- really did make a whole mess of their lives. They spent years apart due to a misunderstanding and a case or two of stubbornness. They were both stubborn to a fault.
It was so sweet to see them now being the ones to use the media in a way that could benefit them both, and finding a way to work out their past issues and making the most of the present.

However, once faced with a situation very similar to the one they suffered through all those years before, they make the same exact mistake. The only way things can go different now is if one of them decides to fight for their love. Will they? Or will they let history repeat itself?

Only one way to find out! You know whatcha gotta do (;

4 Second Chance CROWNS

As Long as You Hate Me by Carrie Aarons tells the tale of a second chance romance between Kara and Dean who were torn apart by the lights and fame of Hollywood.

Dean has the tortured artist down. All of his songs and lyrics center on the girl he lost, the one he still longs to be with. Through the lyrics, it is clear that he still loves Kara or at least still has lingering feelings. When he needs her to come to LA to help him out, past feelings begin to resurface, and the push and pull that naturally exists between them surfaces. Although he is a rockstar, Dean doesn't fit the mold. He is kind, sweet, and open with his feelings. Readers, I'm sure will really enjoy his character.

Kara has been emotionally damaged from the last time she interacted with Dean and the end of their relationship. She is guarded and protects herself with all the animosity she throws at Dean. Although she continually hesitates and questions her choices, Dean's motivations, and their future, it is clear why she does, and readers do not fault her for her choices and behavior. Once again, readers will like her as a character, even with her back and forth emotions.

This story, on its premise, should have been a slam dunk for me. Based on the synopsis, I expected high angst, hate/love relationship, and chemistry to be off the charts, but what I experienced was a tepid romance. I never really felt the passion, the torture, the draw between the two of them. The author talks about and their feelings for each other seem genuine, but the story, overall, lacked the torturous journey of a second chance romance. I wanted to truly feel their pain and reconciliation, and in the end it just fell flat for me.

Carrie Aarons has for a long time been a one-click author for me. She writes incredibly angsty stories that usually suck me right into the story with all the turmoil, and although this one fell a bit flat for me, it will not deter me from picking up another one of her books. And for readers who don't love overly emotional stories, this may be the perfect book for you.

This review will be a bit challenging for me to write because honestly I just didn't like this book much, but in the same breath I couldn't stop reading it needing to see the outcome of Kara and Dean.
This story begins with Kara and Dean in high school and so in love, like notebook gag worthy love and then we skip to present day years later to a cynical angry bitter Kara and a just rude nasty jerk Dean seeing each other again.
This is where I was pretty irritated I pretty much hated Dean for the first dozen chapters or so, how he acted towards Kara just rubbed me the wrong way, I did enjoy there was no secrets though Kara knew up front the deal and wasn't thrust into the rockstars world blind. Basically in a nutshell here Dean got into trouble and he needs to clean his image up quick so he recruits Kara to help him in exchange for paying off her school debts and helping her progress in her work. Dean is a rockstar that's writes all his music about Kara even all these years later so he and his agent figure this will help his career greatly. Now this is where it breaks down into this is a fake relationship with angry, bitter feelings and heartbreak that you can feel through each characters actions, which I truly enjoyed Dean is a sweetheart when he's not hiding and being a coward. And Kara she holds her own and is feisty and won't be swept away by the glitz and glamour of Deans life now.
4 stars I give this, as I said I really didn't enjoy the story or how it progressed honestly.. It was a bit predictable, I didn't enjoy how they dealt with their problems, I wanted to punch Dean in his handsome nose for a while but he did grow on me extremely by the end. Which I guess honestly is the mark of a good book actually caring deeply for fictional characters. So honestly besides wanting to junk punch Dean a lot! I did really root for Kara and Dean to ride off into the sunset by the epilogue, but do they or is this fake relationship just that fake? ....

As Long as you Hate me is a tale of second chances, a tale of the latest Hollywood bad boy running from scandal and trying to clean up his image, a story of the woman behind the music - the muse for the lyrics and so much more. Carrie Aarons will pull you into the story with the rampant tension, undeniable chemistry and a story that will grab and hold your attention and leave you both wanting to smack a person or two and craving more.

Kara and Dean both sucked me right in, leaving me curious about their past and their current feelings. I was interested to know more about them both and also decidedly intrigued by how their present story would play out.

This book took me on a journey, one that was emotional in many ways, but also one that occasionally made me laugh out loud. With the proposition of a fake "reconciliation relationship" turned more - Dean's on the hook with more than the media.

Can these two work through the past and find something REAL? Will Dean's proposal end on a good note or will they go down in flames? Snag your copy and read to find out.

As Long As You Hate Me (ALAYHM) is a second-chance, fake fiance romance. It sounds like a pile of cliches tossed together, but seeing as the author is Carrie Aarons you have to know she's going to find a way to put them together well. She doesn't disappoint, making ALAYHM one of the first fake fiance romances I have enjoyed in a very long time. Main characters Kara and Dean were once high-school sweethearts, destined to be together forever with Kara riding out the waves of Dean's stardom as she studied in school. Something quite dramatic happens and they've spend the last several years hating each other, with Dean filling the void left behind with a lot of women and Kara up to her eye-balls in debt as she completes schooling to become a Dermatologist. Dean needs something to fix his image though and that perfect something is Kara. Accepting the money was easy, but neither expects that something more could come of the one-year contracted engagement and neither knows what to do with the feelings they thought they'd once buried.

"I haven't known you for seven years. I don't know who you are anymore, Dean."

Dean and Kara are fantastic characters, I love that they have a history together as youth and that they both worked towards their own individual goals and successes. As adults they're thriving, but they're both also missing something. Dean is handsome, headstrong, and a bit too in-your-face and surly. Kara is sweet, steadfast, and very, very emotional. They have these feelings for one another that they never had a truly proper ending for, so it was obvious from the very start what would happen between these two. Most of ALAYHM is Kara learning the truth of the past and the truth of the words in Dean's song. The rest of the book is made up of their time spent together, the majority of it passionate love or passionate fighting. The dialogue between these two is fantastic, so even when I felt like one of the characters was too over the top I enjoyed how it all was written.

"So, I'd started to write, and every song somehow became about her."

There were moments where I questions Dean's actions. He's the standard rock star, but his emotions are incredibly difficult to connect to. On top of that, he and Kara have these arguments that I just wish she could win for once, because she always give in to him. I struggled with the constant feeling that Kara let her feelings go about things, because she was just so in love. At the same time, Dean gives into his feelings of love over times when I would expect him to argue back to. It's very much so a constant case of F'ing and Fighting between these two.

"I just want one moment to breathe in the space where she and I exist again."

I loved how ALAYHM played out, revealing to the readers and to the characters just why these two were meant to be. It's a romantic novel with some humorous moments, a bit of smut, and a love of drama. Their mistakes and lessons learned were so accurate to real life, even with an over the top storyline, so that was fun to read and connect with. If you're looking for a sweet, second chance romance between a rockstar and a small town girl As Long As You Hate Me is the newest book to grab.

Carrie Aarons can write a believable fake-fiance romance, one that actually fits in with real life.

Rock stories are kinda my thing (understatement) and this one was definitely right up my alley. I loved the second chance angle and Kara & Dean were very electric together. From their HS love story to the battle that ensued when they reunited. I actually enjoyed the fighting as much as the reconciliation. What knocked it down a notch was Kara, girl how much more did this guy have to do to show you that you were/are the love of his life? If there had to be a reason for her to leave, it should have happened sooner, before the trips, hot sex, and declarations of love from Dean. Overall a good book, but I wish we could have gotten to the swoon worthy ending a different way.

Wow – I have to admit that the author did a really great job in transferring the title of the book to the feelings of the reader. “As long as you Hate me” really made me approach my thoughts on book ratings in a new way. Carrie Aarons created a setting where I found myself actually disliking the leading characters so much but at the same time thinking that the title an plot could not have been more fitting.

Usually for a book to be rated highly by me I need to feel something for the characters – and when I set that rule I meant by feelings GOOD feelings …
But if I am honest with myself actually also the negative feelings belong to that category – especially in theses specific circumstances where the author managed to bring the title across so perfectly.

After the first few pages my mind was in a place that contemplated to put the book aside because Dean was a self absorbed a$$hole of the finest sort. And I was wondering what an earth ever possessed Kara to love a guy like that. Then I looked closer at Kara as the story progressed and I thought…How can anyone who hates another person so deeply agree to a scenario like that.

The further the story went the more I felt that both of them kind of deserved each others attitude – and I honestly never thought anything like that –
For a long time the story lets the reader wonder what really happened for that kind of deep hatred.
But the further the story goes the more the hatred gets diluted, but where the normal reader would expect the old love to return I only felt a kind of descend interaction. Then when the readers knowledge of the past is finally completed I was sort of surprised.

For the deep and really great inside view the reader gets on the machinery that is Hollywood I would have expected something with a bigger impact behind the story. But still at that point it was more 5 than 4 stars based on the actual dislike that the author managed to bring across to me perfectly.

What changed my mind and finally let me decide on the 4 stars was the “peak / turning point” of the story – every story has one but after all the hatred and dislike and all that the characters learned during that story I am sorry to say that the peak was not enough for me. My only thought was “Seriously ? They should know better by now” … (sorry cryptic much but I have to mind my no-spoiler rule) …

4 My Real Stars!!

Being a huge admirer of Ms.Aarons' work I couldn't wait to dive into this bad boy!! I didn't have a clue what to expect at first and it truly took me by surprise in such a great way. I really enjoyed it!! It grabbed me from the start and it was definitely hard to put it down. It made me feel everything under the sun from frustration to happiness. I just love it when a book like As Long As You Hate Me can do that to me. There were a couple of times when I wanted to yell at my kindle. Such a different kind of rock star romance!!

This is one of the many quotes that I loved. -

"Looking at Dean is like trying not to look at a solar eclipse; you know it will damage you, leave you blinded, but it’s so incredible that you’re forced to stare until you get your fill."

Kara and Dean were once upon a time each other's everything. Years later they are brought back together by chance and Dean needs Kara's help. Emotions ran high between these two and I felt every part of their pain. They went through so much together and apart which broke my heart. I had a love / hate relationship with Dean which seems fitting with the title of this novel! Lol! Kara's determination and spit fire attitude made me adore her. So many hurdles were in their way and I was on the edge of my seat until the very end.

Ms.Aarons always creates such entertaining stories that I can't get enough of. She showed how heartbreak can leave it's mark but that love isn't impossible. Ms.Aarons has done it once again!! This was such a fascinating world to be in. The connection between the two main characters in the good times and the bad times really made me fall for it even more. Things weren't sugarcoated which I liked!! I can't wait to read what she comes up with next!! (:

I am really stuck on what I thought about this book. Did I love the characters? Her. Yes. Him. No. Did I love the writing? 100 times yes! Carrie always does a great job of telling her stories and getting me hooked from the beginning of the book. Her style of writing is effortless to read and flows so well.

Kara I loved! She was sassy, funny, and constantly making Dean's life just a little more complicated. Which I enjoyed. There were times where I was frustrated with her as well, but she had a right to be a little wishy washy. I get it. She's a very strong woman and wants nothing more than to keep her heart safe from the man that shattered it.

Dean. At first when I started the book I thought ok.... I can get on board with this. But then he just pissed me off and never really redeemed himself for me at the end. Granted he does know what he wants and he goes for it. He's clever. He's very charming. A lot of the time I wanted to scream at him and be like hey man.... you don't do that crazy shit! But, I felt those emotions. So clearly Carrie got what she was looking for.

This was a good read. I felt all the feels and then some. Perfect for a rainy cold day on the couch and relax!

Cover Review:

I love the cover, it's so in keeping with the novel, so beautiful and I don't know what else to say, I just love it! <3

Book Review:

Thanks to UIBB for the review copy!

The only thing that I can say I didn't like was the fact that it ended so soon! I was having so much fun!

I loved both the protagonists. And their POVs. Both of them, Kara and Dean made me laugh, grin, roll my eyes and fall in love with them.

I loved Kara for her independent spirit as well as her vulnerable side. I loved her badass-ness and her kindness.

I loved Dean for his cockiness and the usual bad boy charm, but also for the deep love he had for Kara.

Together, I loved them for creating this masterpiece of a story of their life!

As Long As You Hate Me was entertaining right from the beginning. The first chapter ends with Kara slapping Dean. I actually highlighted that sentence and added a 'Go girl!' note to it, that's how much it had already captured me! And it only got better as it progressed, mind you!

As Long As You Hate Me was steamy, sexy, heart warming and tear jerking all at the same time and I loved every single bit of it! <3

A second chance, along with a fake engagement makes for the perfect mixture is As Long As You Hate Me.

Dean and Kara push through so many emotions. I was laughing, crying, cringing a bit while reading. Kara is a strong heroine, and not easily pushed around. She's protective of herself. Dean is a rockstar bad boy. Classic jerk. Kara helps him remember who he really is, along with helping him out with other accusations. I really enjoyed the story Ms. Aarons created, it was very easy to get lost in.

The writing is great, and the story is paced very evenly. I thought there would be a bit more drama, but was throughly satisfied with the story. I would reccomend to the reader looking for a sexy second chance with a rockstar.

This book was perfect. It had the angst and sexy rockstar hotness, but it also had a certain sweetness that calls to even more readers. I am not one to really connect with sweet stories, but this story had me hooked from the very beginning and kept me until the very end. Kara and Dean were everything I wanted them to be. I loved every minute of their journey. The angst and the heartbreak is felt, as well as all the sexual tension between these two characters. This story has it all! This is an excellent book to recommend to your friends, and I highly suggest it!! This is a second chance/ Rockstar romance. Guaranteed to give you a book hangover!!

First love scorned and broken.
Second chance romance...not exactly!
A contractually bound agreement to be a fake fiancee...yeah.
But as we all know where there's smoke, there's fire. And these two are smoking...

High school sweethearts broken apart by a cruel world reunited by a wacky idea to save face. Not the most romantic reunion, but her reaction is perfect. I still feel the crack.

But playing pretend can often confuse or remind so...

As Long As You Hate Me is a fun feisty story. It will have you smirking at some points, fighting your violent tendencies at others, and even swooning at others Enjoy it...As Long As You Hate Me.

I really liked this book but one star off for what upset her while he was away towards the end where Patrick approaches her. She should of been a bit more brighter.....geez.
I totally saw the problem when they were younger and were apart.
I liked how she stood up for him while building their relationship and during trial. I hate false accusations because this book barely alludes to the damage false accusations bring.

Not normally a massive fan of the rockstar romance but this one was surprisingly good!

There were a few cringe moments early on (when they wasn’t together yet) thankfully it was agreed that they would both remain celibate while continuing on with their agreement after that!

This one would be loved by anyone who loves the rock romance genre! If that’s you, have a sneaky sample read and check this one out! It’s on KU (where I got mine from)
