The Vows We Make

Rate this book
Mark and Paige are living in sin-that's what any man of the cloth would say. All they want is to get married, but they refuse to exchange vows without their best friends-the Six. As they wait to hear back from them, Mark and Paige can't help but feel they've been put off... forgotten. When the threat of an enemy stalking them is brought to light, the call is made to bring them into the secretive world of Cole Enterprise. Slotted for recruitment by the very agency that stole their chance at a normal life, Mark and Paige have to adjust to their new path as secret agents in a war they didn't even know existed. What neither fully understands is that nothing will ever be the same... and some vows are deadlier than others.

I was offered an ARC of this book from the author, and I of course said yes! I loved the other books in this series a lot, so I was really looking forward to read this book and I was already anticipating its release! I started my ARC as soon as I received it and it took me about four sittings to read! I was reading it every free chance I had and I just loved it! It may actually be one of my favourite books from this series so far! The plot was also amazing! It developed at the perfect pace and it had plenty of action and suspense in it! The romance was also very sweet too! I loved that there was suspense, action and romance in the plot! I love these three things in the plot of any book, so I was really happy that this book had all three in it! The plot also had some twist and turns in too! The twist and turns kept the plot interesting and changed things around a lot! I also wasn't expecting the overall direction that the plot went in as it developed! It did surprise me, but I loved it and I really enjoyed it! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Paige was the main female character, and she was someone who was living a normal, everyday life with her fiancé before her life turned upside down! Paige found it difficult to adjust to her new life, but she tried her hardest! My heart also went out to Paige because she just wanted to be a nurse and have the wedding she had always wanted, and instead she was put in danger and wasn't freely able to do what she wanted! Paige grew a lot in this book though and she learned a lot about herself and the people she cared about! Paige was also very protective of her love interest and this was very easy to see! Mark was the main male character and fiancé of Paige! Like Paige, Mark lived an everyday life until he was thrown into a world that he had to adjust to and understand! Mark seemed to adjust quicker than what Paige did to his new life, which was understandable in a way! I just loved Mark! He was very understanding and he was so loving towards Paige! He was very protective of her too and he became more protective of her as the plot progressed! Mark also came a long way in this book and he went through a lot! My heart completely went out to him because he was put in such danger and he was dealing with a lot! Mark was so calm about it all though! I loved that this book was written from both Paige and Mark's point of views! I was hoping that it was going to be as the other books are co-written, so I'm really happy that it was! It allowed for more things to happen in the plot and it helped me connect more with both characters! I'm not sure if there's going to be more books in this series, but I really hope there is! There's a few characters that haven't had their stories told yet, so I really hope that the author gives them a book! If she doesn't, I can't wait to see what she's going to release next! I'll definitely be reading it regardless! The cover for this book is also stunning! I loved it as soon as I saw it and I love how well it suits the book! I also love how well it suits the other covers in the series! Big thank you to Sonya for an ARC of the Vows We Make!

I'm just not into this series anymore.

I started this one ages ago. I finally made myself finish it. I probably would have liked it slightly better back then. But now, this has too many elements I dislike. I predict those same things will be in the rest of the books, which is why I won't be reading them.

Great continuation!

I fell in love with the six from the beginning and each book just brings to light so much more to their character and their bond.

It was okay

I liked this book because it had everyone in it but I'm not sure how much I like Paige. Her and Mark's story isn't as captivating as some of the others.

Paige is the most annoying character of the series hands down.

This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews Thank you to Sonya for my review copy of this book. I have been following the story of The Six for quite a few years so when this book was offered for review I had to request a copy. Unfortunately I only recently managed to read it. If you haven't read the first 3 books in the series I would urge you to go back to the beginning because in my opinion it really is worth it however, I will try to keep this as spoiler free as possible if you haven't read them. Each book focuses on a member of The Six and this book follows Mark.

In the previous book we are told Paige and Mark are desperate to set a date for their wedding the only problem is their friends won't give them a date that they will be free. They want a simple wedding just close family and friends. What Mark and Paige don't know is the reason their friends haven't replied.

I won't touch too much on the story line for this book because I don't want to ruin it but suffice to say if you have read the other books in the series then you will know the sort of things to expect.

I am going to focus more on the technical elements of this story. The pace was perfect. Sonya knows exactly how to build the suspense and have you on the edge of your seat waiting for the outcome. She also knows how to completely surprise you with an element you would never expect. These are the things that I love about Sonya's writing. No two of her books are the same and they are anything but predictable.

I look forward to the last two books in the series but also to anything else that Sonya shares with us.

Sonya DAZZLES in this book. This is hands down my favorite series from her. All it takes is one chapter and I am transported back to their world and filled with all he emotions the first book instilled in me.

The twists and turns in Mark and Paige's story were brilliant. I was curious as to how Sonya was going to weave them into this world and she did it in the best way possible.

The first half of the book had me on the tips of my toes while reading, and the second had me holding my breath as I turned pages.

Then I got to the end and I had slightly murderous thoughts towards Sonya because now I have to wait even longer.

This story though, it plays on all your loves in the genre. We have the angst, the romance, the fantastic dialogue, the plot line that drives you to read it in one sitting, and most of all the characters that have earned a spot in your heart.

Mark and Paige are back with The Six and everyone is up in chaos. Who can you trust? Who is hunting them? and Will there be a wedding?

Jump into the newest novel with The Six  and fall in love. #GetSixed all over again.

I sure do love this series and I never seem to have any trouble jumping back into the world of The Six. Sonya Loveday does a great job of tying all of the books together even though they deal with different leading characters. There was no need for me to reread the previous books in this series because Sonya did a wonderful job of working in a recap of all the major points without it just feeling like a rehash of info. I have yet to be disappointed by one of The Six books and I anxiously look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series as they are released.
