Kangaroo and Koala might be very different, but they sure work well together when there's trouble.

One day, Kangaroo follows a trail of bubbles that lead her to--Koala! But Koala is shy, and doesn't seem interested when Kangaroo tries to play. But after a while, Koala blows happy bubbles Kangaroo's way, and their friendship begins.

Together, Kangaroo and Koala blow big bubbles and small bubbles, and animal-shaped bubbles too! But when a bunch of bubbles clump into a giant monster that is heading for Kangaroo, it's up to shy Koala to be brave enough to help his friend.

It was super cute! I thought the illustrations were darling, and I liked that Koala being shy was not something for Kangaroo to "overcome," but instead just work with.

(And then their friendship was so toxic it made a bubble monster?) (And then Koala realized that being too shy had led to this horror?) (And they banded together to make a more comfortable friendship for both of them?)

Anyhow, over-analyzing aside, I still think the book was adorable.

Bubbles - James Hadley Chase  So cute! And "Bother!" from Pooh! The point gets made in a charming and quiet way. Did I mention how cute? Lovely art.

Very sweet. The illustrations are absolutely adorable.

It can be so hard to make friends! How do we go about meeting others and connecting? This book is fabulous for preschoolers and kiddos transitioning into kindergarten! Parallel play is an important developmental stage for little humans to find connections with others on their own terms without pressure of engagement. This story of kangaroo and koala reminds adults that we need to support our kiddos in finding friends through a natural connection. Blowing bubbles side by side, without any other demand of engagement is relaxing and fun! Don't rush your Littles to make friends! Instead read about how koala and kangaroo find a connection through parallel play! Also...this book demands a bubble dance party!

Bubbles was a book about a koala and a kangaroo becoming friends through a mutual interest, bubbles. Kangaroo sets off on an adventure by following mysterious bubbles and eventually meets koala. When they start blowing bubbles together, they create a bubble monster in which they need to be brave and take down. In the end, they come out with a new friendship. I felt this book's theme was friendship, and is why I liked it. It was a simple explanation of friendship but had a good underlying reason for the book.

Kangaroo likes to blow bubbles. He sees a bubble trail and follows it to Koala. Koala is shy and doesn't want to play at first. Then they start blowing bubble shapes with each other and Koala overcomes his fears to work together to defeat the bubble monster.
They finish by blowing bubbles of a very different kind (gum).

A super cute Kangaroo and an equally as cute Koala befriend each other over their mutual love of bubbles. However, the friendship doesn't come easy as one of them is considerably shier than the other but an unforeseen bubble accident brings the two together showing them what a great team the two of them make.

An adorable story about being brave and making friends.

I absolutely loved the illustrations. They are so cute, simple but engaging. Great use of color. I especially enjoyed Kangaroo's and Koala's bubble creations.

This is a sweet one - I absolutely love the illustrations! The kids had fun noticing there was something different about the Mystery Bubbles and we all helped Kangaroo and Koala pop the bubbles, so some fun interaction potential too.

I've added it to my bubble storytime list, but can also see pulling it out for friendship or Australian animals as a theme.

This is a perfect book for an introverted youngster, or for an extrovert learning to navigate social cues. Kangaroo and koala both want to be friends, but their approaches are quite different. They are able to resolve this and find a way to both be comfortable and companionable. My little introvert loves this book and we have read it over and over.

Sweet little story of shyness, developing into friendship. I would definitely use this in a bubble storytime. The illustrations are charming, but would work best with a smaller group due to the delicate-looking depictions of the bubbles.

Story is cute, but has been done before. The illustrations are adorable but would fit in a board book format so much better. At least they kept the animals from the same area (a kangaroo and a koala and did not mix their species).

Cute and lovely story for kids. Great way to show that sometimes people need to start friendships through showing of common interest rather than someone coming right up to them and greeting them.
