I've put one star but actually would put a negative rating if possible. I think it is condescending and assimilationist and, frankly, extremely racist as it perpuates a number of very untrue myths. (Eg p.21 "In Aboriginal culture, it is not so important to look after things." Wtaf??!!) it also generalises "Aboriginal people" even tho it is well established there were around 250 language groups, and accordingly diverse cultures, before colonisation. It is published by Summer Institute of Linguistics who are basically fundamentalist christians, as part of Wycliffe bible translators. So I should have known. We need to undo the damage and ongoing colonialism these people and groups perpetuate not create more. I'm shocked that this book is still out there and was sent to me by an academic colleague. We need to do much much better white Australia.
This book is clear and concise, it is not condescending.
If you have ever lived and worked in a remote aboriginal community you would understand this book.
As for the reader that gave it one star, they have clearly zero experience working out bush. Just an over educated opinion with no real life experience.
