Antes que nada, quiero decirles que este libro tiene spoilers si no han terminado de leer la trilogía principal de los Kane. Dejando eso de lado, ¡amoooo este tipo de contenido extra que saca Rick Riordan para complementar sus sagas!
En este caso, obviamente, tendremos una visión un poco más cercana a los dioses de Egipto y cómo se caracteriza cada uno. Debo admitir que, para mí, la mitología egipcia es de las más confusas que he estudiado y aún me cuesta recordar qué funciones tiene cada dios, pero esta guía escrita por Carter y Sadie Kane hace que entender esos detalles sea mucho más fácil y divertido. ¡Sobre todo por los comentarios graciosos que van metiendo por ahí!
Además, Brooklyn’s House Magicians Manual tiene algo que no tienen los demás libros compañeros del tío Rick y es una mini historia atravesando todos los relatos de los dioses. Si ya han leído la trilogía y Demigods and Magicians, sabrán que existe un cierto mago antiguo y amargado que representa muy malas noticias: Setne. Y él, en este libro, va a planear algo macabro mientras Sadie, Carter y los demás intentan explicarles a los nuevos reclutas en qué se están metiendo cuando aceptan ser aprendices de todo este legado del antiguo Egipto.
Total, como les digo siempre, el tío Rick nunca falla y este libro, aunque no es vital, sí que es un complemento genial si adoraste la saga de mitología egipcia.

Actual rating three and a half stars
I wasn’t exactly sure what I would be getting when I started reading this book but I found that it helped me remember certain things that happened in the main books. It had some of that classic Riordan wit plus new information on some of the main characters! The content was a mix of entries, mainly letters from different characters or quizzes on a few god/goddess. I really enjoyed those little notes Setne made throughout the book! They were interesting and made you think something exciting was going to happen. Unfortunately, it was very anticlimactic. Close to the end of the book there were a couple of pages of Setne telling us his plan. It made me excited, thinking we were going to get some mini boss battle. Then, on the next page, there is an entry that said; ‘nah, none of that actually happened’. I was a little disappointed and unsure as to why Riordan would hint at something for the entire book and then do basically nothing with it! Although, I guess it could mean that the children are learning? Either way, it could have been something awesome and for me, it just wasn’t!

Como siempre digo, estos libros son para los frikis de Rick Riordan. Para los nenes están genial porque creo que pueden aprender un montón sobre las deidades de cada mitología. No solo te cuenta cosas sobre ellos de una forma muy ligera, sino que hay juegos de palabras, de unir cada dios con lo que le corresponda, de verdadero y falso, y algunos más que creo que son geniales para ellos.
Para los lectores más mayores, lo dicho, es para los fans frikis. Porque hay muchísimas reseñas de fans fans fans del autor que puntuan bajo estos libros. Pues oye, igual estos libros no son para vosotros. Son un complemento dinámico para aprender sobre mitología con nuestros personajes favoritos.
Y bueno a mí me encantan estas cosas, me encanta añadirlas a mi colección (los tres manuales que hay de esta colección quedan genial juntos) y además adoro a Sadie Kane. Ojalá tener más novelas con estos personajes. Porfa porfa porfaaa.

As with the other companion guides, this was pretty fun but lacks any of the real substance that would allow me to give it a higher rating. I liked the stories but honestly the quiz format sections are annoying to me both because I'm reading an ebook so I can't actually like 'take' the quiz and also because it kept asking us questions about the gods before it even gave us any info about them in the text so I'm like 'well how am I supposed to know that?'. I feel like it would probably be more fun for kids because they would enjoy it being interactive but the whole thing was kind of hit or miss for me.

Este es un libro extra, RECONTRA EXTRA😂 pero que igual da algunos datos que necesitábamos saber y es súper interactivo (hasta exámenes tiene). La pasé súper bien leyéndolo y rayándolo 😂😂😂😂

As an accompaniment to the Kane Chronicles trilogy, Riordan’s BROOKLYN HOUSE MAGICIAN’s MANUAL provides additional information for fans of Carter and Sadie Kane.
In the Chronicles series, the author uses multiple POV’s by alternating two chapters at a time. And although this book isn’t a novel per say, the head hopping reaches astronomical heights when the author includes the use of three POV’s, oftentimes on the same page. Riordan attempted to differentiate all three through the use of bold text, italics, and even different fonts; the speaker’s name was often plastered at the end of the monologue. I understand why the author chose to do this, but as a reader it would have been a better experience if he had stuck to a single POV.
I enjoyed learning more about the gods and especially liked how Riordan wove in a new tale about Setne. Like Riordan’s other companion books, this Magician’s Manual included quizzes and illustrations and would be a great gift for any person (child or adult!) who is a Kane fan.

UBBReadathon 2019: obiettivo n° 14 - una raccolta di racconti
Inizialmente avevo deciso di leggere Stars Above ma, essendo in inglese, ho pensato che potesse portarmi via troppo tempo. Decidendo di optare per qualcosa in italiano, mi sono ricordata che avevo ancora due raccolte di racconti di zio Rick da leggere, così ho optato per la più corta, sarò sincera.
Anche questa volta ho riso come una matta, specialmente quando Rick tira in ballo il Cluedo. 😂 Inoltre ho trovato svariati riferimenti a Percy, Alex Fierro e altri, oltre ad un riferimento alla primissima guida scritta, quella sul Campo Mezzosangue. Che posso dire, è stato bello tornare alla Brooklyn House, perché come sempre ha rievocato tanti ricordi legati a questi personaggi.

This was sooo fun to read!! Sadie is such an amazing character and her little hilarious remarks in the book were such a good addition! Now I really want to reread the Kane Chronicles, because this world is just so vast and intricate. I can't wait for the Netflix show on this amazing story!

This book is packed with quizzes, trivia, information about Gods, stories from the Kanes and much more fun stuff. It was enjoyable at the start but got boring by the end. It helped me enrich my knowledge about Egyptian mythology I had learnt throughout the Kane Chronicles series.

The book itself was extremely well-written, in that really witty way only Uncle Rick can somehow manage to accomplish, BUT I just didn't find it that interesting. I got bored so often. Also the quizzes were really annoying and I therefore methodically made sure to skip all of them. I guess I'm a bit biased because I'm a forever Greek mythology junkie.

¡Dioses! Lo cierto es que no iba hacer una reseña escrita de este libro ya que es un… ¿agregado?... un libro complementario de la saga de Las crónicas de kane, ¡PERO! (y, Sí, es gran pero) no paré de divertirme leyendo este libro. Y, como dice Isa cantos (de crónicas de una merodeadora); "en este caso tendremos una visión un poco más cercana de los dioses de Egipto y cómo se caracteriza cada uno."
La mitología egipcia es complicada si la comparamos con el resto de mitologías ¿no? pero este libro- guía hace entender esos detalles que cuando estudias la mitología egipcia se te pasan porque es muy complicada.
Lo único malo (“malo”), es que ¡ en este libro si me cayó bien Sadie! ¡increíble! pero bueno, no estamos para criticar eso.
Además este libro de acompañamiento no solamente es un libro de instrucciones y pruebas, o sea no es solamente un manual, sino que además tiene una historia entretejiendo se entre las páginas (Obviamente no voy a decir que historia es porque es divertido de leer y descubrirlo por uno mismo).
En resumen; si no lo leen, no se están perdiendo de nada importante. PERO (y de nuevo viene un gran pero), sí deciden leerlo este libro es un complemento genial si te gusta la mitología egipcia y te gustaron los libros de Las crónicas de Kane.
Es un 10/10 para ser un libro complementario, un 9,5 /10, porque siempre puede mejorarse todo.

Another good book by Rick
I don't have so much to say about this book, because honestly it's the same as these sort of books by him, I wasn't a big fan of the villain getting back and all of those pages with him writing in the book, and also even planning how he will do it, it's just, didn't we already get rid of him? Then by the end being that all was a plan under controlled so it's like what was the point then?
Besides that, it was fun to read a little of god and godesses, the trivia quizzes, and reading a couple of characters.

Me ha gustado un montón, porque a parte de hablar sobre la mitología te da una mayor perspectiva de cómo es la vida en la Casa de Brooklyn, de la vida de sus personajes y de cómo van evolucionando sus relaciones (el capítulo de Shelby y Sadie ha sido MARAVILLOSAMENTE ADORABLE🥰🥰)Y ADEMÁS, TIENE TRAMA.
A ver, obviamente no es como una novela completa, pero deja claro que los rifirrafes con cierto personaje del tercer libro de la trilogía (y el crossover, asi que si no lo habéis leido, HAY SPOILERS) no han acabado.
En mi opinion esta guia oficial es ligeramente mejor que la de Magnus Chase, ¡aunque me gusten las dos!

I just love these books! They are each perfect for the middle school age group that they are written for being filled with age appropriate humor and attitude that all kids will love. This is a companion novel to the Kane chronicles so it has lots of little stories that give great insight into all of the main characters from the books. I loved every minute of so I give it 5/5 stars.

Not a lot of substance here, unfortunately. I was expecting a more in-depth look at some of the mythology involved in the series, but there was very little, really, although I will say that the story folded in between the nonfiction bits at least had the advantage of brevity. To be honest, though, the whole thing fairly screams gimmick and it's probably really only for the die-hard fans.
Still, it has managed to remind me that there's a biography of Cleopatra I've been meaning to read, and so when I drop this back to the library today I can pick that up at the same time.

First book of 2021!
To be fair, I was in a reading slump for almost a week after finishing IT (and while reading half of this) so I wasn't completely invested.
Also, considering the Kane Chronicles is my least favourite in Rick Riordan's books, I didn't expect to love this, but wanted to pick it up anyway.
I found the quizzes and short stories to be fun, but a lot of it went over my head. I mostly enjoyed the chapters with the animal Gods and Goddesses because animals are my favourite thing on this planet, and you can never go wrong with chapters about them (esp. Muffin's chapter. That was adorable!)
Not the best way to start the year, but it was still quick and easy and well written as with all of Rick Riordan's books.

Ahora que está saliendo la adaptación a novela gráfica de la trilogía Las crónicas de Kane, está bien tener libros como este para hacer la espera del nuevo número más amena. Sienta bien volver a este universo con su grupo de magos enmarcados por la mitología egipcia. Eso sí, recomiendo leerlo sólo si has leído la historia previamente, porque encontrarás spoilers.

It’s meant to be a manual, and has info on the gods, with “quirky” notes from Sadie, and little quizzes. Since I’m not the biggest Sadie Kane fan, and because I still know very little of the Egyptian gods, this was difficult to get through. Such a small book, but I set it down many times. Oh of course there’s some Setne drama so I definitely recommend you read Demigods and Magicians first.

It has been so long since I was in the Kane Chronicles world that I was a little worried going into this companion book. As you all know, I'm obsessed with mythology and wanted to see Riordan's take on this expanded of the mythos so I couldn't pass it up. I was not disappointed, nor was I incredibly confused by the secondary characters that I did not particularly remember. I think this is readable even if you don't remember all of the details from the series, although it will be a little spoiler-y. It's a pretty quick, yet enjoyable read that made me want to re-read the series and experience the Egyptian mythos once more.
