Edge Security #0.5

The Beginning

Rate this book
E.D.G.E. Security is a covert international organization that handles jobs most governments won’t. The operators are the elite of the elite, soldiers and spies, chosen for their skills and secrecy, and their ability to go beyond the edge.

Before there was EDGE Security, there was only Captain Blackwell, a young operator with Canada’s elite JTF2…

Captain Derrick ‘Hawk’ Blackwell doesn’t have time for a relationship. When he’s injured on his latest mission and sent home on leave to recuperate, he decides to help his uncle out at his pub until he can get back to his men. But while on leave he meets Cassandra Kwon, an aspiring journalist, whose questions test his patience and whose fiery spirit tests his control.

Cassie works at the pub for money, but wants nothing more than to be a journalist and help bring the truth to the world. The new bartender is hiding something and she intends to find out what it is, and expose it if necessary. The fact that he’s the most intense, interesting and enticing man she’s ever met, is moot…until she kisses him and her story becomes a hell of a lot more personal.

When Cassie finally discovers Derrick’s secrets she must decide what is more important: love, loyalty or her career.

WARNING: This is a SHORT STORY PREQUEL with a BONUS CHRISTMAS STORY at the end.

Bonus Story: Christmas Crisis
Cat ‘Valkyrie’ Richards and Rhys ‘Lucky’ Lafayette must deal with missions, missiles and crazy mothers in order to overcome a Christmas Crisis.

ONLY DOWNER IS CLIFFHANGER

Not a huge fan of cliffhangers. This story started out great with all the right characters in place with full action at the beginning to set the pace. Interesting storyline complete with action, suspense and adventure. A struggling relationship by the two primary characters helped to capture a reader's attention. Great build up between their relationship and years of separation; but unfortunately needing to wait until next book is released for closure.

Timing is Everything

Cassandra and Derrick's story was not easy, but it was good. But both being completely dedicated to their careers made it very difficult to be together. The plot takes a sudden turn at the end, and the secret is left unresolved. There's lots of action. There's the hot romance. And there's misunderstanding and lack of communication that leads to hurt for Cass and Derrick. Their story is definitely not over yet. It's a great story just like the rest of the series.

Nice Read!

I enjoyed reading both of these books! I can't wait to read the next book about Derrick and Cass! There are some things that need to be discovered! I think everyone who has been following this series will enjoy it and anxious to read the next book! For the ones who have not started from the beginning, I do believe you will still enjoy it but it would be better to know who Derrick is now then find out where he came from! I definitely recommend this book!

This is a short story about the beginning of EDGE Security that this great series of books comes from and introduces us to Derrick AKA Hawk and Cassie. Both are married to the love of their lives - their professions, and the contrast between them causes problems with their relationship. This is not a HEA but their story is followed up in Edge of Defiance.

First book by this author and I really enjoyed it. Dani is now a favorite heroine of mine. She is tough and could stand on her own. She didn't need Jake to rescue her but it sure made a difference when he came! The tension and conflict were believable and realistic, the plot was well-thought out and current. Will read more by this author.

It was ok but was supposed to be book .05 it is actually a prequel to book 7 that could be in book 7. I will buy the book but shame on this author for marketing it as a first. Not sure about the series due to the deception

I liked the writing and story but it ended on a cliffhanger and assumptions gone wrong which I do not like. Have read there are 3 books on these characters keeping them apart for 8 years so will not be reading any more. I do like Trish Loye's other stories though.
