All Phoebe Tessica ever wanted was to live a life of her own. For twenty-five long years, she has lived with her parents. She watched in envy as her cousin grew up free, while Phoebe was kept safely hidden, monitored continuously by bodyguards and even homeschooled. The only person she had to talk to was Declan Ramhart, a guard hired at the age of nine. Phoebe assumed they would always be together, but she quickly learns how different life really is when you're an adult. Phoebe finally gets a taste of freedom when she moved out, but still has eyes on her at all times. To make matters worse, she must wed one of the men her parents have picked out for her, and Declan becomes tied to an arranged marriage of his own. Will Phoebe succumb to her family's wishes and let Declan walk away, or will she finally break the chains and follow her heart?
I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. I felt like some of the scenes where rushed and I felt like we could have had way more background on the two families. But I noticed this is only her second novel as an author so I’m looking forward to seeing how her writing progresses.
I received a free copy of this book to review: I only realised upon reading the foreward, that the author had made a note that there was mature content included; however I still read the book and have rated it for the story, despite sexual content, which I personally don't enjoy in books! Phoebe and Declan's story is intense, emotional, raw and leaves the reader breathless in anticipation and hope for the outcome we all want. It all culminates in a sudden turn of events where action, intrigue and nail-biting tension give one last loop on the rollercoaster ride!! A thoroughly enjoyable read; hard to put down and highly recommended.
Profanity / Language - mild Sexual content - moderately explicit Triggers - childhood kidnapping, murder
I want to give this book more stars because the premise of this book was amazing and what kept me reading. With that being said, I felt that the protagonist Phoebe was to immature for a twenty five year old. I thought maybe that was what the writer was going for until she came to a point where everyone realized that she was grown up but she stayed the same. So I definitely had issues with the dialogue and I feel that this book had way more potential. The writer rushed a lot of the scenes, as there was way more to the story.
This is the 1st book I've read written Maureen Shigeno; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I will definitely be reading more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.

All she ever wanted was to live her own life. Her parents watched her all the time even hiring a bodyguard for her at just nine. At long last she was able to leave home but her parents still kept an eye on her. All she had to speak to was her bodyguard who she calls in love with. Her parents want to tell her who to marry. Will she go with them? Will she finally choose her own path? See if she will

I absolutely LOVED this book. I will not give the synopsis since you can read the blurb and others give more detail but I definitely recommend! The chemistry, sexiness, sweetness, and twists in plot kept things very interesting.
I cannot wait to read more by this author. Definitely worth your time!

This double arrangement was awful Could the arrangement be with each other? Kts obvious that live has blossomed over the yesrs. Did her parents see that as well This is a story of a young woman who craves freedom only to be chained to the whims of her family
