The pair is dragged into a hailstorm as they try to escape the mob’s wrath, but the worst happens when Walker’s past and present collide on a boat in the North Atlantic in… The Lethal Limit!"A terrific read for anyone seeking excitement and entertainment." The Lethal Limit by Margaret Evans kept me turning the page to see what was going to happen next. By keeping the chapters short and jumping from the various WitSec members and the people they were keeping safe, the department offices, and the criminal’s family events, the readers are able to get a good sense of everyone, while Evans kept the action going.
Since the chapters were so short I didn’t find myself skimming, but I felt like the middle could have been tightened up a bit. There was one couple I didn’t feel like we needed to keep hearing about as much because they were just having a good time in bed. And this wasn’t the kind of thriller where you are surprised when you find out about the mole in the department. If you pay even a tiny bit of attention, there’s a very good chance you will know.
I did enjoy how Evans incorporated the twins aspect into the book and would have loved to see even more information about that. Either Evans worked for the WitSec department and is a twin herself, or she’s done a lot of research on both things because the details she incorporated were excellent. And I loved the very end ending, which was perfectly done.
The Lethal Limit was very good and if you enjoy thrillers you’ll want to give it a read.
I loved this book! Now, I tend to love the subject of witness protection anyway, but this was incredibly well-written and such an exciting story, I could hardly put it down. I feel like the author must have a lot of experience in this area, or she’s done an incredible amount of research. There is really good character development, plenty of action, and a little romance that only goes into PG details (if that.) I was getting a bit sad that I didn’t get to continue reading about these characters, especially the two main characters...and then....the ending was so great. Not the general ending, because I was figuring a lot of that out in the second half. But that last paragraph—fantastic! And the hope of more from some of these characters? Whether I get to read more or just get to imagine it all in my brain, as I have been all day since finishing the book in the early morning hours, I just loved how the book ended. I recommend this wholeheartedly; I was provided an arc of this book, but these opinions are my own.
Action / Adventure / Thriller….. those three words describe The Lethal Limit by Margaret Evans perfectly. However after reading The Lethal Limit I would have to add a few more to the description…..love story, dramatic and secretive.
The Lethal Limit follows a number of people as they navigate around a common denominator, one that not all of them are aware they are a part of. The Lethal Limit centers mainly around three members of the Witness Protection Unit of the Justice Department and the people they are protecting. Steven Walker is trying to get Angela Morrissey from Washington to New York to catch a boat to start her new life away from a dangerous crime family. Angela’s ex-husband is the reason for her life being uprooted, along with him and his current girlfriend. Each of them is paired with a member of the unit to get them to the boat safely. When they have to jump out of the plane they are all on and separate, readers get to follow each pair as they do what is necessary to get to their boat safely and at the agreed upon time. Not only are they trying to stay safe from the Reynaldo family but there is also a mole in the department….
Readers will love the action and the excitement of the journey the three couples take, each one being so different. And seeing how the department runs during this operation will have readers turning the pages as quickly as possible. Evans keeps your attention by jumping from couple to couple, to the department offices and even to the Reynaldo family. Readers get to see what is going on in every aspect of the story. I know readers are going to be as drawn to Walker and Angela as I was and can only hope that somehow they can have a happily ever after….even though to Walker it is just his job.
I could NOT put The Lethal Limit down and encourage readers to grab their copy and see what I mean. I guarantee that you will agree with me.
