I grew up on Long Island and spent my formative years in the saddle–just imagining. After high school, I traveled to Ness, England and studied at a British Horse Society training school. This was an all-around amazing experience. When I left, I clutched a certification to teach riding in my hot little hand, and I enjoyed instructing riders for many years.
Who am I kidding? We know it is the horses who do the teaching. All we can do is try to remain open to what they have to say.
Now, I share a farm in Missouri with my family, but I have only one horse these days. Remi’s a Trakehner - thoroughbred - quarter horse cross, as easy a keeper and good minded as they get. We board him at a terrific place nearby.
Not surprisingly, my stories are frequently infused with the mystery and spirituality horses have brought to my life.

Content giggles from behind my Kindle...
Having read On the Buckle and Raver by Candace Carrabus I simple had to try Run Out.
The story flows effortlessly and a serious storyline is peppered with quirky quips and humorous insights of things that always seem to happen to Viola Parker.
A well thought out plot draws you in as it accumulates in to a climatic energetic high before gently easing off to a beautiful finish.
The characters are strong and I can imagine that they take on a life of their own during their development and their place in the story.
No so much focused on the horses as they were introduced in On the Buckle, but they canter in to the storyline every so often, in time for feed and a very handy mode of transport in to the woods in search of the mobster who has come for revenge on Vi's Grandfather.
It's lovely to see how Vi and unconsciously fallen in to being at home and in love - even if she doesn't realise it right away - with her Scotsman and menagerie of four footed friends.
Ghost horse Wastrel gallops in to the story and Vi's dreams to warn of the coming storm of trouble. Back to help Vi solve the mysteries ahead of her and her family.
There is nothing negative that I can say about this novel.
The frequent giggles at humorous lines eases off the air of a potential serious mystery thriller to somewhere of a steady fun canter.
I can only say that I thoroughly enjoyed and recommend picking up this second book in the series.
I look forward to more in this paranormal romance series and the Horse caller series.

Just finished Book 2. Carrabus did not disappoint. I love how she engages her characters. The gala was awesome! Again, she used the animals in her story as if they were characters in their own right. Love the interaction with her parents, including some of the looks and facial expressions. It's like you can almost see her characters. I hope Zoe sticks around. She's a great addition to the cast. I love that we learned about the trustfund and it wasn't left dangling. Can't wait for Book 3.

Fun sequel to "On the Buckle", in which we not only get to know the two- and four-legged folks at Winterlight better, but also *gasp* meet the family - Vi's, that is.
Drama, emotions, hilarity and whipped cream ensue...

Author and narrator combine to create an outstanding audiobook! Can’t believe how much I enjoyed listening to this fast paced and memorable story! Highly recommend!
