As Charles and Beth plan their wedding, the newly titled detective must unravel the clues to a riddle that hints at his past, and he is forced to reveal a dark secret to his beloved duchess. But worst of all, wolves that walk like men have been seen at St. Katherine’s Docks and Victoria Park. Is all of this connected to a cedar crate shipped to England in 1870? Might an ancient stone marker be the source of the evil now stalking women in London? Redwing’s members have redoubled their efforts, but a schism has arisen within their ranks, and two powerful spiritual entities begin a battle that rages not only in the infernal realm but in the world of men. Can the faithful men and women of the ‘inner circle’ solve the riddle in time? And why is Charles Sinclair’s blood so very special to the infernal realm? Sir William Trent knows the answer to that question, but his plans do not include Sinclair. He wants Elizabeth all to himself, which means both Paul Stuart and Charles Sinclair must die.
Well written, but a little scary concerning entities that are in and out of our dimension. I have had to pray divine protection from principalities and powers that might cause fear as I most often read in bed
Another home run, Miss Sharon. I love how you use biblical historical resources like canonical and non-canonical supportive sources to create and shape your wonderful stories. For me, they are quite provocative, suspenseful, dramatic, possible and believable. Thank you for daring to step away from the predicable, to the maybe not so impossible perspective of the account Jack the Ripper. I am looking forward to reading more about Beth and Charles, Paul, Aunt Victoria, the Duke and the others. TWO THUMBS UP
I have throughly enjoyed Sharon Gilbert's first two entries in in this series, she does not glorify ware wolves & vampires, no in her stories they are exactly what they are, evil entities bent on the destruction of mankind. If you life Gothic tales, English aristocrats, good mysteries, I think you will enjoy this
truth of what we have to face during the end times.
We all know that Satan is the ruler of this earth and that as a Christian we have to fight the principalities Of the air. God has given us the strength and the power to defeat them. If you are a true believer of Christ Jesus And the end times then we all must be diligent and obedient to God's word, anyone who is a born again believer and is waiting for the Lord to return I highly recommend this book because we are fighting those principalities evil principles now.
I have given a great review for the first book in this series but I am going to discontinue the reading of this book and the rest of this series, for the reason that I have encountered foul language in these first two books. I don’t believe that there should be found any foul language in any Christian books. So this is my only complaint in these books, other than that they are well written novels with a lot of great imagination.
This is only the second book I've read by Sharon Gilbert but I plan on reading the entire series and then finding Butter other works. Imaginative, entertaining, and well-researched. Is got a bit of everything. Mystery, action, romance, suspense. I'm already downloading book three.
**Spoiler alert**The second entry in The Redwing Saga starts off strong with a harrowing attack. Police superintendent and newly-recognized nobleman, Earl of Haimsbury - Charles Sinclair, his fiance, Duchess of Branham, Elizabeth return and again are targeted by Sir William Trent and the shadowy secret society of Redwing. The author starts the book at a brisk pace but the novel drags down at times. The author struggles with maintaining the pace she sets in the first few pages by spending too much time on trivial matters affecting the characters. But she skillfully does manage to return to a brisk pace with the introduction of a shadowy winged half-human & half-wolf creature terrorizing and killing people in London. The author does flesh otu Charles background more with tidbots of trivia such as his friendship British Prime Minister Gladstone, his rank as 'colonel' in the Texas Rangers, and previous dealings with Redwing as a child.
The plot of the novel is engrossing because it involves ravenous beasts; the legend of Morrigan, the Irish goddess of death; plots and attacks by members and minions of Redwing. All of these bring disruption to the peaces and lives of the central characters: Victoria Stuart (Charles and Paul's spinster aunt, Paul's daughter, Della (also his adopted sister), Paul Stuart, Charles Sinclair, and Elisabeth (the mani target). The police are dumb-founded as to the evil behind the series of murders which evoke a similarity to two previous series of murders: the Cricket Ground and Jack-the-Ripper Murders in 1879. Edmund Reid and Thomas Galton (both Circle members), Scotland Yard, Lord Paul Stuart of Aubrey & other members of the Circle (the opposition to Redwing) and several intrepid reporters for the London Star Newspaper pursue all leads and connections in an attempt to stop the attacks, the killings, and other diabolical happenings. Returning from the first novel are the wise tailor & historian, Martin Kepelheim and the family butler, Matthew Laurence who provide insight and guidance to Charles, Aunt Victoria and the elderly Dr. George Price, physician and friend of Elizabeth's. Several mysterious new characters: the distant Dr. Rachel Claire Kennedy, the ghostly Prince Razarit Nicolescu Cojocaru Lupei Grigor (aka Rasha), and the shadowy and menacing Prince Anatole Romanov add insecurity, menace, and mystery to the novel. Throughout the novel, the author adds bits of extraordinary and paranormal facts such as an 1860 attack on a Grand Ball at Haimsbury Hall (attended by Charles and his parents) by Redwing. Both Paul and Charles relate periods of darkness in their pasts, tragic events, and missing time. Mrs. Gilbert, the author also throws on historical real-life people like Abraham 'Bram' Stoker and Giacomo Puccini, to convey a real-world possibility of the events and evil plans of Redwing. Prince Anatole's attraction and attempted romantic overtures toward Elizabeth adds another layer of mystery. As the true identities of Prince Rasha and his 'uncle' Anatole are revealed, Charles and his associates race against time to fight the their diabolical game plan. In time, these individuals form the Inner Circle Intelligence (ICI) to stand against the evil.
Overall, this novel lays out the diabolical design and evil orchestrated by the Archon (chief demons) and the Dynamis (their minions) and those of the Christian faith who stand against them. By the end of the novel, Charles grows into his Christian faith and is supported by many believers around him. He also discovers why Redwing is after him and Elisabeth - a heinous and evil plan. At the end of the novel, 'the Watchers' are mentioned and one, Mr. Thirteen appears, perfectly setting up the next novel in the long series of books. One can anticipate that Redwing's plans are about to flourish into an evil flower of death and mayhem.
This book perfectly sets up the next novel in the series. I am hopeful that the author can continue to build the suspense like she did in this novel.
