I'm a massive fan of American Ninja Warrior and I always look forward to watching my favourites compete each year. I treated myself to this book, unsure really what to expect and found it to be an excellent behind the scenes guide. There is a section on every obstacle used through the series, tips from the contestants about their fitness and routines, a full section on how the show is put together and how the obstacles are created and tested and profiles of the fan favourites. I really enjoyed looking at the content and finding out more about how the show is created, constructed and filmed. It is a good book to entertain fans of the show.

I haven't read a browsable nonfiction book since they were publishing them about the Olsen Twins, probably, and I went cover to cover on this one and loved every second. I started watching this sport during the pandemic and it has me all in my feelings because my fitness career is probably dead, and yet I want to do ninja training sooooo bad. Anyway, this is exactly what I expected (minus training tips that I hoped would be in here, though I am 1000% aware that I can find those on my own and, as a fitness professional, could have figured out what I needed to train without being told about how the kinesthetics work), and I loved it.

As an "encyclopedia/yearly magazine" style format it worked fine. Very ADHD (and it takes one to know one) for the majority of the book. But the clue in the title "GUIDE" should prep us all for what to expect there.

Gbajamia-moments-
Production details, hosting notes, the general "evolution" exposition was phenomenal. Ultimate is a great description for the level of detail and 'insider'-ness felt throughout much of this 'guide'

Missed opportunities- I liked the Athlete bios and wished they were more than a 1/2 page with large illustration with comic book style action scene/graphics. The glossary of obstacles was a rough read, not gonna lie.

A fun and informative read! I watch the show regularly but learned a lot about the history of the show and the veteran competitors.

This is indeed the perfect resource for fans of "Ninja Nation", as the community is called. It features in-depth profiles on the behind the scenes, the hosts, and the athletes themselves.
