This book has a lot of information about the Mayas, Incas, and Aztecs! I learned a lot about ancient Mesoamerica history in a couple pages! Totally recommend!

The illustrations and format make this an excellent overview of the three cultures. The book includes comparisons of some of the aspects of those cultures, with similarities and differences in the ways the people lived.
The only real weakness in this book is that it often leads to questions not answered in this short volume. Still, the portrayal of the writing and books of the cultures, along with artifacts and farming methods, can teach young readers a lot. The modern photos of kids descended from the cultures is a nice touch, too.
Even as an adult, there were a number of things that the book taught me, like the simple version of "freeze drying" that the Incas used to preserve potatoes.
The DK series is generally good, but I highly recommend this volume as a starting point for letting kids learn about these three cultures.

We looked at two DK books and this was definitely the better of the two. In many ways, I would have preferred one solely on the Inca for our study but this was pretty well set-out and did a reasonable job of identifying ways in which the different civilisations were similar or different. Miss, for instance, enjoyed looking at the pictures and comparing different methods of building houses, or of farming (and food types), with us talking about how the local environment / habitat impacted these areas.

Miss 5 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

While this wasn't targeted for my age group, I enjoyed it a lot. I've always been interested in the history of Native Americans and this book would be great for little kids who want to learn more about them. It had a lot of interesting information that was presented in an attention-grabbing way so kids would stay interested.
Either way, its still good for all ages to learn about the lives of the people who lived in the Americas before colonizers came and ruined their way of life

How awesome is this book! 3 civilizations compared and contrasted so precisely and in much depth. Real photos are used for historical artefacts. Infographics are so rich as well.
