About the author

Vasudhendra (ವಸುಧೇಂದ್ರ) was born at Sandur in Ballari district, Karnataka. After working as a software professional for more than twenty years, Vasudhendra now runs his own publication house, Chanda Pustaka, which publishes and encourages new writing in Kannada and has instituted the Chanda Pustaka Award which recognizes young short story writers. He is also associated with local support groups for LGBT individuals. The author of thirteen books in Kannada, that have sold over 80,000 copies, Vasudhendra has won many literary awards, including the Kannada Sahitya Academy Book Prize, the Da Raa Bendre Story Award and the Dr U.R. Ananthamurthy Award.

ವಸುಧೇಂದ್ರರ ವರ್ಣಮಯ ಹೆಸರಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕತೆ ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ವಿರಳ, ಪ್ರಭಂದ ಮತ್ತು ಸಣ್ಣ ಕಥೆಗಳ ಕಲಸಿದ ಮೃಷ್ಟಾನ್ನ ಭೋಜನ, ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಕಥೆಯೂ ಅಷ್ಟೇ ವಿಧವಾದ ರಸಾನುಭವನ್ನು ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ.

'ಬಣ್ಣ' ಬರಹ ಚಿಕ್ಕದಾದರೂ ಅದರ ತಿರುಳು ತುಂಬ ಅರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣವಾದದ್ದು.

'ನಂಜುಂಡಿ' ಹಾಗೂ 'ಗೌರಮ್ಮ' ಬರಹಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಸುತ್ತಲಿನ ಸಮಾಜದ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಮಜಲುಗಳು, ಕೆಳ, ಮಧ್ಯಮ ಹಾಗೂ ಮೇಲಿನ ವರ್ಗದ ಜನರುಗಳ ನಡವಳಿಕೆಗಳು ಹಾಸ್ಯ ಮಿಶ್ರಿತ ಧಾಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೊಗಸಾಗಿ ಮೂಡಿ ಬಂದಿವೆ.

ಊರಿನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ, ಊರಿನ ಪರಿಸರದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ,ತಾಯಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸುತ್ತವೆ.ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ ತಾಯಿಯವರ ವಾಕ್ಚಾತುರ್ಯವು ಓದುಗನಲ್ಲಿ ನಗು ತರಿಸಿದರೂ,ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಗೆ ಅಭಿಮಾನ ಮೂಡಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ನಂಜುಂಡಿ, ಗೌರಮ್ಮ , ಅಮ್ಮ ಎನ್ನುವ ಸಂಭ್ರಮ...i liked most..

'ಗಣಪತಿ ರಾಯ ಬಾರಯ್ಯ' ಬರಹವು ಗಣಪತಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನಾನು ಇದುವರೆಗೂ ಓದಿರುವ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟ ಹಾಸ್ಯ ಲೇಖನ.

ಅಪಾರ್ಟ್ಮೆಂಟ್ ಆಖ್ಯಾನ.. ಅಪಾರ್ಟ್ಮೆಂಟ್ ಒಳ ಪ್ರಪಂಚದ ಅನೇಕ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ತಿಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ಗಂಡುಮಕ್ಕಳ 'ಕಟಿಂಗ್' ನ ನೋವು ನಲಿವಿನ ಕ್ಷಣಗಳು 'ಕೇಶ ಕೌಶಲ' ಬರಹದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ.
'ಕರೆಂಟ್', 'ಮೋಹನ ಗಂಧ', 'ಔದ್ಯೋಗಿಕ ಜಗತ್ತು ಮತ್ತು ಮಹಿಳೆ', ಇವೆಲ್ಲವೂ 'ಛಂದ ಪ್ರಸಂಗಗಳು'.

'ಕುಂತಿ ಕರ್ಣರ ಪ್ರಸಂಗ', ಮಹಾಭಾರತದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ವೇದವ್ಯಾಸರು,ಕುಮಾರವ್ಯಾಸ ಮತ್ತು ಭೈರಪ್ಪನವರು ಹೇಗೆ ಚಿತ್ರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂಬುದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಇರುವ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟ ಬರಹ.

ಆದರೆ ಈ ಬರಹವು ಸುಲಲಿತ ಪ್ರಬಂಧಗಳ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಯಾಕೋ ಇರಬಾರದಿತ್ತು ಅನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತಿತ್ತು ಓದುವಾಗ.
ಲೇಖನವು ತುಂಬ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿದೆ ಅದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಬೇರೆ ಮಾತಿಲ್ಲ.

Nicely elaborated short stories. We can relate ourself to most of the stories. Few stories where it's explained that mother should be treated more like a Friend than a GOD, otherwise lot of sacrifices and commitments would be expected from her or how a cook believes in God which gives her a ray of hope are very well explained. Also, different perspective of Kunti and Karna stories from Veda Vyasa, Kumaravyasa and SL Byrappa are very impressive.

ವಸುಧೇಂದ್ರರ ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮವಾದ ಪ್ರಬಂಧಗಳ ಸಂಕಲನ ಈ ಪುಸ್ತಕ.ಅವ್ವನ ಕುರಿತು, ಬದಲಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವ ಆಧುನಿಕ ನಗರಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಬದುಕುಗಳು, ಹೊಸ ತಲೆಮಾರಿನ ಹಳೆ ತಲೆಮಾರಿನ ಸ್ನೇಹ, ಜಾತಿಯ ಮಡಿವಂತಿಕೆ ವರ್ಗದ ಕಟ್ಟುಪಾಡುಗಳು ಕ್ಷೀಣವಾಗಿ ಪೂರಕವಾದ ಹೊಸ ಸಂಬಂಧಗಳು, ಇವುಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಹುಟ್ಟೂರಿನ ಹಳೆಯ ತಲೆಮಾರಿನ ಗಟ್ಟಿಗಿತ್ತಿ ಗೃಹಿಣಿಯರ ಬಾಳ್ವೆಯ ಚೆಲುವು, ಮತ್ತು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೊಸ ದಿಕ್ಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿಂತಿಸುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಕರ್ಣನ ಪಾತ್ರದ ವಿಶ್ಲೇಷಣೆ - ವಸುಧೇಂದ್ರರ ಸರಳ ಮತ್ತು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಆಪ್ತವಾಗುವಂತಹ ಬರವಣಿಗೆಯ ರಸದೌತಣ.

Apt for light reading! Simple and deep take on life! I still feel the chapter on Women's Employment doesnt suit the "prabandha" genre! But apart from that the book is extremely endearing and uplifting :)

ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲಿನ ಪರಿಸರಕ್ಕೆ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ತೆರೆದು ಜೀವನಪ್ರೀತಿಗೆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾಗಿ ಬರೆದಿರುವ ಪ್ರಬಂಧಗಳ ಸಂಕಲನ. ನಮ್ಮ ಸುತ್ತಲಿನ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಜನರು ನಮಗೆ ಕಲಿಸಿಕೊಡುವ ಜೀವನಪಾಠದ ಕಿರು ನೋಟ ಎಲ್ಲ ಪ್ರಬಂಧಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಕಾಣ ಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ.
