Sarah Rutherford, using her job in Fuengirola as a cover, is investigating her sister's death. Mike Trent is drawn into her quest after witnessing the death (and being nearly drowned by the splash) of a hotel manager at the hands of a sinister Scotsman. Meanwhile, things are hotting up among the British ex-pat criminal community. All their paths will soon cross in a comic collision of death, double-crossing and wild dogs.
This may look like a standard piece of chick-lit, with its clever title and gaudy cover, but it isn't. The story follows Mike, on holiday in Spain trying to rekindle some passion in a failing relationship. Only, during a midnight swim on the first day of the holiday, the hotel manager is murdered and pushed into the pool from a third floor window. Then he meets Sarah, investigating the suspicious death of her sister that the Spanish authorities seem to have covered up, and things only get worse. From a porn ring to drugs, murder to sabotage, he keeps getting deeper and deeper into the underworld of the tourist destination.
I actually quite enjoyed this. Not something to read if you are easily offended, but will definately make you pause before booking that next flight to Benidorm! There's a few laughs too, which always helps.
