Chaos lived a life much like his brothers, a torturous life, and as much as he cared for Ash, he knew his future was already decided. He could feel it, like a clock ticking away the minutes of his life, his time was running out. There was no point in letting anyone get attached. After being called in by the Hagrins to help with the initial take down of the recruiter, FBI agent Ashton Michaels found a home for himself among the band of brothers, and the love of his life. If only he could convince Chaos love and living were worth fighting for. Only cowards gave up.With the take down of the last facility, evidence of more sites come into play and unexpected dangers flourish. The Hagrin house has grown, as well as the family and their commitment to each other. It’s the simple things in life some take for granted that mean the most to others – a childhood, family, love, acceptance – and Ash and the brothers will do what it takes to make sure Chaos knows he deserves it all.
Refuge is the third book in the Safe Haven Series and must be read in order, to really appreciate this intriguing and emotional story. Even though each book is about a separate couple it just isn't solely about them. There is so much more and i love that we get all the "Family" within these books. I truly feel it gives more depth to the whole series. The band of brothers keeps expanding and the love that shows through them is never ending. From a group who have been shown nothing but pain and isolation its amazing to see them come through to the other side and show so much protection to the others involved. They may come across as a bit childish at times but their leaning every day to adapt to a normal life. Even with the simplest of things like chocolate milk!! they have never had a normal childhood. So i never saw it as childish more endearing with them enjoying the simply things we all take for granted.
Chaos and Ash know they belong together soul mates, they feel it deep within themselves. But Chaos is hiding a secret... not just from Ash, but from everyone. He feel's that time is running out for him, like a clock ticking down. And he's not willing to leave Ash heartbroken after he has gone. So he keeps Ash at a distance not letting him in fully, but Ash wants it all not just his body he wants his mind, heart & soul.
The pressure is on not only to find out what Chaos is hiding but they need more information to shut down all the facilities destroying these kids lives.
Sheri Lynn has wrote an intriguing story with emotional twist's and turn's that you can't help but fall in love with the Hagrin Family.
I have no words that will do this book justice! It amazes me that someone who is new to the writing/publishing scene can write such amazing books that leave me speechless and a blubbering mess.
Refuge is the third book is the Safe Haven Series. Chaos and Ash were probably one of the easiest couples to connect and realize they who they were for each other, but at the same time the most complicated of the bunch (that we've read so far).
I really don't want to go into details and give away the entire book in a review, so instead I will leave with a couple quotes from the story that pretty much sum up what these books are all about.
**"Love is always the reason we fight. Love for our brothers, friends, family, and country. Love is what keeps us going when we don't think we can, when all we want to do is give up and close our eyes."**
**"A family of love is stronger than anything the world can ever deal us."**
Book three of the Safe Haven series, our favorite family has grown even bigger but our dear author is trying to kill this reader. I loved the book but, make sure you've got tissues and a safe seat because some of her plot twists either left me a blubbering mess, like I was gonna have a heart attack, or as if my heart was ripped out and sent through a meat grinder thrice before being put back. This time the couple we watch find their special connection is Chaos and Ash. And I'm so thankful that Vidar was able to help Chaos with his chip - the idea he might die was destroying my heart. The naming of the kids also made me cry and the puppies made me giggle like a child. And I caught the slip of personal life Sheri snuck in during the puppies naming...that gave me more chuckles. Biggest complaint? Book four isn't out as of my writing this (February 2017).
Once again. I was so engrossed in reading this that I let things slide. The concept of this whole series is fantastic. I loved all the interaction of so many characters. Yes it is a MM read, but it works so well. So much thought and love must have gone into these characters. Some are broken, but have so much support to be there when it was needed. My only question is when is the next one coming out.
Chaos and Ash have a bumpy ride to accepting their feelings and destiny. It was great to see the rest of the relationships evolve as well while they continued with their mission. The home they are building is inspiring as they continue to grow their "family". A great addition to the series! Can't wait for the next installment!
Refuge is the third book in the Safe Haven series and once again, packs a powerful punch!
Chaos and Ash know they belong together, but Chaos is hiding a secret... not just from Ash, but from his brothers as well. He can feel that time is running out for him, like a clock ticking down. He doesn't want to let Ash in when he knows that he will be leaving him involuntarily. Ash wants Chaos, he's made no bones about that. He wants all of him though, not just the sex, as hot as it may be. It is actually the new kids that have some idea of what is going on, and may be able to help. With time running out to find the other facilities, the pressure is on in this book.
WOW! Once again, Sheri Lyn has managed to knock my socks off. I adore this series, and each book just gives more and more to the overall story, whilst fulfilling a need I didn't know I had for the individuals' story. This is emotional and powerful. I was wiping away tears in the very first chapter during a Naming Ceremony. Yeesh, these names get me every time!
The story is twisted and full of intrigue. The boys have to make some serious decisions over who they can trust. With the addition of new characters, for good and for bad, this book was simply amazing. Exceedingly well written, with no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt my reading flow, I was drawn once again in the world of the Safe Haven. I love what I've read, and I can't wait to read more. Abso-bloomin-lutely recommended by me!
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *
AHHHMAZING! I've waited for this(and I'm waiting for more!) I love this series! Chaos and Ash are a different dynamic than the other two couples we've already read about. Chaos isn't afraid of his connection, but just didn't want to get close in the sense of falling in love because of internal fears and ticking time clocks. Ash, for lack of a better word, is Ash, he worries, he's playful, he's completely in touch with that part of himself that's connected to Chaos, so when something goes wrong he's in a panic to make it right. This series isn't the standard light-hearted, although they are hopeful in the sense you want the brothers to overcome their past, with it being serious, the humor is everywhere, and in perfect timing. I enjoyed their continued mission although I wanted to scream with the brothers when things didn't go right or as planned. OMG! I was on the edge of my seat in places! LOVE this book! enjoyed seeing the family grown and their connections grow as well. a family in every sense of the word, even getting to become 'happy'.
Come on Sheri, we need more! ;)
oh, and the cliffhanger is for the continued story, not Chaos and Ash if that worries you :)
*was a beta reader, but purchased so I can read over and over and over like I have the first two!
Wow. I can hardly even think now that I finished reading this. For a still relatively new author, wow such writing! This story will keep you glued to whatever reading device you are on, hating having to stop reading. But at the same time, not wanting to finish the book. Special note before I continue, you really do need to read the other books to fully understand what is going on. Lots of turmoil for these boys emotions for sure. Yet, a few happy moments. And let me tell you, tons of surprises! As with the other books, you get more insight to a "couple" along with what is going on with the "family". This time, we are getting more of Ash and Chaos. I just love how no matter what this "family" sticks together and helps each other out-like a true family should. But this is no ordinary family, this group is just outstanding. As much as I am looking forward to the next book, I'm afraid. I'm afraid that the next book could be the end of this wonderful series.
YES! So happy I stuck with this author. Her writing has evolved and I couldn't be happier. I have loved the premise from book 1. It feeds my nerd girl habit----a bit fantasy/sci fi --ish. Can not wait to see how everything shakes out for this group of misfits.
So what put this book over the edge for me is the author finally brought some heart. I could feel the love of family and belonging. I could feel how Chaos wanted to protect Ash because of how much he loved him. Giving those men and the kids pieces of a childhood that they missed out one---tears right there. Several swoon worthy moments in this book.
You will need to read the books in order as the story line moves forward. There is suspense and violence mixed in with all the happy times. If you are looking for something a little different, give this series a try.
OMG.. I loved this soo soo soo much. I have been waiting patiently (hahahah) for this book since I found this series.. I love ash.. god hes amazing.. chaos of course is his own brand of wonderful.. I love that their connection has been one of the easiest so far and yet at the same time hard. He wanted to be close to ash.. he didn't deny their link or their love.. he just didn't want ash to be hurt. The kids are amazing... within the first 10 pages i was tearing up.. I love grandma and grandpa.. they are the best things ever.. so many times I was laughing so hard.. so many times i was sad.. so many times I wanted even more. I cannot wait for the next book ankd I hope it's soon.. I need more of my boys :D
Their are no words that I could possibly put here that will even begin to describe how amazing this series is and how emotionally attached I am becoming to these characters.. With each story there is so much pain and heartache from their past but they still find strength to keep fighting and are opening themselves to love and family ... Their family keeps growing and getting stronger in their quest to rescue the children and destroy the evil company responsible... I really am very anxious for the next book especially with some of the twists and info that came to light in this book and I definitely don't like how close they came to losing a brother or that one of the recruiters is on their tail...
Refuge is another great read in the Safe Haven Series and deals with the headstrong Chaos. Not only is Chaos fighting against love, the group is also dealing with tracking down Prometheus and the new additions to their family. The humor was there to balance out the dark and made Refuge a real page turner. I can't wait to see what's in story next for the boys as they struggle to rebuild their lives and take down those who oppress them and other innocent children.
Wow! This book was awesome. I was completely hooked! There were parts that left me screaming though, oh and of course the humor is there too. This is a dark series so humor is needed too keep the light there. Chaos does not want to get close to Ash, he thinks Ash is better off without getting too close. Yup wanted to smack some sense into Chaos. Their ever growing family grows but not how you would expect. There are teasers of what to come and it does end on a cliffhanger. Bring on book 4 Sheri Lyn
m/m Have you read Safe Haven (Safe Haven, #1) and or Sanctuary (Safe Haven, #2)? No? Go read them first. Then come back and enjoy the heck out of this sweet yet serious tale of mystery, love and family. I promise you will enjoy this one so much more if you’ve read the others first. You need the foundation. That being said this may just be my favorite of the series to date. There is such a feeling of love, family and community in this story that you are rooting for each and everyone in this story.
