Stupid Girl

Rate this book
A Fantasy Adventure

Trying to keep up with a world on the brink of war leaves Rosie feeling like the stupid girl.

Barely able to lift her head, Rosie is taken away from Morgan le Fae’s clutches. The haven of Province 9 is a welcome respite while Rosie tries to get back on her feet. With her father still bedridden, Kerdik takes it upon himself to do all he can to liberate King Urien. Though dangers from the borders threaten to tear the fragile kingdom apart, it’s the threats from inside the castle that are most catastrophic.

While Rosie tries to help Lane unite her kingdom, she learns secrets about the Untouchables that could undo all they’ve worked to rebuild. Everyone warns her that relying on Kerdik will end badly, but trusting Bastien just might be the biggest danger of all.

“Stupid Girl” is book four of a 14-part fantasy romance series.

At this point in the series, Rosie is learning the ropes, but she's still having a really difficult time. She's got political enemies (including her mom) even though she's barely done anything yet other than get hurt and lose people.

Link is my favorite character in this one, he's just so fun. I imagine him being that goofy guy friend that is way sweeter than he lets on.

Kerdick continues to get weirder as you learn more of his secrets, but he's turning into one of my faves as well. Even though he's probably more villain than good, his love for Rosie when he loves or barely even likes anyone else is impressive.

There's one scene in this one that I didn't love, it involved animals and it's the type of scene I'll usually stop a book because of. Thankfully the author makes it quick and I was able to muscle thru it, but reader be warned. It's the only reason I dropped one star because it was almost too much for me.

And finally, Bastien. I knew his fall was coming, it had to, it always does. He messes up bad, and while you want to hate him, based on his character thru the books you know he will hate himself more. He just can't stop screwing it up. It's interesting to me, as Mary Twomey's Undraland series is one of my favorites of all time, that I like this character so much when a very similar one (Jens in Undraland) was a bit hard for me to accept. There's just something about Bastien as a character that I can't help but just want to forgive him. It's a testament to her understanding of the characters she's creating that she can make you feel the same weird unshakeable caring for the character that Rosie has as well. But, good on Rosie for not taking his shit just yet and making him feel the pain.

One last thought, what does Kerdick know that no one else does that led him to rush the tattoo, and what's his end game?

Only time will tell.

Emotional adventure!

Book 5 of the 11 book series and you won’t be disappointed. This is not an author that sales you a piece of a book at a time, This is a full adventure and I can not wait to get to the next one. What an amazing author!

I just can’t with these characters… with this writing.
I completed the set of three books because I downloaded it free. Was it worth it? Meh. I thought it was a slow start- but nope! The 4th is just as long and drawn out. Injury… cry… sleep a long ass time. Cry in someone’s arms. Try to be Billy badass and use weird language like a person who wants the cool kids to like him/her as a 50 year old.
I’m not a writer. Should I be this critical? I’m sure it’s good for some people, but not me.

Faîte Falling is an 11-Part Urban Fantasy Series based in French Folklore.

I usually begin my reviews of this series with a quote to whet the Beautiful Bookworm’s appetite – However I find that I could not focus on just one quote for this book!

So, I will elaborate a bit on the courage and tenacity that Rosie showed with her brain and spirit while she was being punished by her mother. The way author Mary E. Twomey, crafted this part of the book was authentic, heartbreaking, beautiful, haunting, and really gave the reader a keen insight on how Rosie’s learning disability had such a negative impact on her formative years. Yet, Rosie utilizes the coping mechanisms she developed to be able to hold on to her sanity while enduring this physical and psychological punishment.

I Tip My Hat to Ms. Twomey!

Book four was also bleaker and creepier in timbre, with more physiological and physical brutality – which was applicable to the narrative. Nevertheless, there were continued episodes painted with amusing dialogue among the tremendously well-rounded characters to relieve the strain.

Evermore, I will not divulge ANY spoilers, Dear Reader as I wish for you to relish the Continuing Journey of a new heroine: Ms. Rosie Avalon.

I gave this book five (5) stars as I Unequivocally Cherished this Fantastical French Fable and I passionately counsel you, Dearest Reader to buy this new series.

Stupid girl by Mary E Twomey continues Rosie’s journey through Avalon. I really enjoyed getting to know Kerdik more, and seeing home grow as a person. Rosie and Kerdik need to find a way to rescue her father from Morgan’s evil spell, and she needs to find her way through her relationship with Bastion.
I have increasingly gotten more annoyed with Bastion. Rosie continues to give him more chances, but as she likes to say, he is his own adventure. I hope he can grow up and actually get to know himself better. She deserves better.
I hope she learns more about Kerdik, and the magic of dragons. He is a good guy, and her love could help him be accepted by people.
There are some dark moments, so be cautious if you are squeamish. Fans of fantasy and romance will fall in love with this book.

All I can say is WOW! Keep this story going! This was by far, my favorite segment in the Faite Falling series. The story was completely moving and believable, any reader could relate to Rosie's (the main character) struggles and find themselves completely absorbed. There is just the right amount of anything and everything you would hope for in this book, Mary Twomey is a gifted author/story teller. Believable, grips as your every emotion, and gets you so involved, you are actually sad to get to the end because you need to wait for the next book! Don't hesitate to read ANYTHING by this author, particularly this series. You won't be sorry you did!

Poor, poor Rosie! True to Mary E. Twomey, this book is better than the last. I’m 98% certain I say that every time, which should make you want to read this one all the more since you know how good the others are.
Rosie is saved and finally able to settle with her family. But, nothing lasts forever. As safe as Rosie seems there’s always someone who is looking to take her down. And the snakes always seem to be closer to home than everyone expects.
Bastian cannot stand to let Rosie be harmed again. But he can’t watch her all the time. He’d lose himself if something happens to her. He’ll lose everything.

This new book in the series has Rosie experiencing so many ups and downs. The author knows how to break your heart. I really feel her pain when she is disappointed in others and herself and the joy when she adds to her circle of friends and family. She really doesn't understand yet how strong she is.

I highly recommend this series. It is so well-written and filled with adventure and romance and fantasy. The author is not afraid to take major chances and really keeps you guessing.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

I am still reeling from this book, so bear with me. I think the shining quality about this series is how it is able to evoke such emotion. I mean, wow! The heartbreaking pain I felt at the end of Stupid Girl was so powerful, yet I will come back from more. I am hooked on this series and chomping at the bit to find out what is going to happen next. I feel for Rosie. So much has been thrown at her, and it doesn't look like it will be stopping anytime soon. I highly recommend reading this series.

I love Kerdik and Rosie’s relationship.

I’m so over Rosie’s many injuries and inability to stay on two feet. Her ever-forgiving nature became quite irritating.

I’m so over Bastien running when the going gets tough. I don’t much care for his character to be redeemed at this point.
Poor Demi would’ve been a more loyal and deserving man for Rosie.

I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the last since the repetitiveness has become a bit dull.

Not fair!

You (Mary E. Twomey!) made me cry at the end of this book! And now it's another month before the next??? Then you threaten me with a character death if i don't leave a review?!?! Really not fair...especially after...well,no spoilers here. But that's how invested I've become in the story of Avalon Rose and the Lost Duchess.

Best series yet

With every new book I fall more in love with the goodness that is Rosie. There is some happiness and major heartbreak this book which had me crying real tears. Rosie deserves so much good in a world that can’t really understand her pure heart. I can’t wait for the next book.

Another winning book in this great series

This book was beautiful, heart-breaking, frustrating, and soul-wrenching. I have a profound book hangover that I fear won't be properly cured until the next book in the series.

Addictive! Brilliant series again by Mary Twomey. Link stays please 😂.

Once again can't put the series down. Like Undraland, the forked love interests keep readers guests who Ro will choose. Waiting impatiently for March 2nd to see what happens next!

Brilliant writing wasted on a mad, twisted, sick, horrific story what made no sense at all and a Heroin who couldn't stop getting injured and around, spreading forgiveness, free love and world peace... ugh. What the hell happened to this series?

First chapter - tears. Last chapter - tears

I read the first three books of the series - not realizing how many were in the set... Loved them all so far and have another author to add to my favorites.

Oh Bastien; I still love you big fella, but what an absolute douche you’ve been 😔
Rosie; girl you need to go back to common because every day you’re getting stabbed, attacked and left for dead.
Just give up babe, Avalon can sort their own shit out.

I LOVE THIS SERIES! 🩷
