Tara Pammi can't remember a moment when she wasn't lost in a book, especially a romance which, for a teenager, was much more exciting than mathematics textbook. Before long, she was hiding romance novels within bigger textbooks, smuggling them into the home through her unsuspecting younger cousin’s school bag, and cycling more than a few miles to her favorite library to borrow more.
Through numerous ‘true’ loves :-) and traveling thousands of miles from family and friends, her attachment to books and especially romance novels stayed constant.
One fine day, toiling away as a grad student in a basement lab, Tara started typing the beginning of a story instead of her thesis. But it wasn’t until years later, encouraged by her real life hero, Tara realized what she truly wanted to do was to write.
Tara lives in Texas with her real life hero and her two little girls. When she isn't writing or reading, Tara can be found failing in the kitchen, watching TV or making resolutions to exercise more, or even a little.
Thanks to the lovely Miss Bibi for turning me onto this one. By the way, if you haven't checked out some of her reviews, you absolutely should. Brilliance, sarcasm, and just all around amazing after my own heart with that lady right there.
But, as I was saying.
I have always been a total sucker for the good old fashioned Harlequin romance (or Mills & Boon if you prefer).
There is just something about the "forced marriage," "marriage of convenience," "having the Greek billionaire's love child" shtick that sings to my trashy romance heart on a level that will never die.
This one was definitely up there with the best of them as far and writing and character development goes. Sometimes character actions in some of these HQ romances have me shaking my head in complete confusion, but not so here.
So, if you are a fan of these style books, this one is worth checking out for sure.
Second Chance story. Heroine is a poor-little-rich-girl heroine who has self-esteem issues. Hero is from the gutter and was adopted by wealthy parents. He has trust issues. I’ve read this scenario before, but I enjoyed it again in this author’s hands.
The angst at the beginning as the hero spots the heroine who walked out on him nine months before is delicious. Hero is cruel and hurting. Heroine is flippant and hurting. Then things get complicated as the hero blackmails her into playing happy wife with him as he visits his adoptive parents in Greece.
They are both wounded characters, but the author didn’t overdo the psychoanalysis, thank goodness. I did believe in the H/h’s reconciliation and future happiness since they did finally communicate. Heroine was virgin when they wed. Hero had had only one other girlfriend. Both were celibate during their separation.
For people who are interested: he was celibate during separation. He also had only one sexual partner before heroine, and he called her his ex-girlfriend. NOT a mistress. He claimed they parted amicably when they both grew apart.

You'll probably like this if you like vicious, aloof H's and lots of angst. The author is a good writer, too. The H is not a manwhore and is celibate during the separation.
However, this is one of those relationships where I feel like things have been too ugly and toxic for too long. The h would be better off having a fresh start with someone where she can start off her life with someone who loves her, not where she winces whenever she sees a wedding photo.
This story was fantastic. I stayed up all night long finishing this baby off because I couldn't put it down. Valentina was a force to be reckoned with. She was desperate for the attention and love of her husband Kairos, constantly pulling stunts to try to make Kairos jealous and get his attention she so desperately craved, until she discovered he only married her as part of a business deal with her brothers. Valentina walked away from her loveless marriage, in hopes that she was wrong and that Kairos truly did love her, but he never came after her. Nine months later, he finally shows up, but only because he needs her to look the part of his wife for just a couple more months, then he will happily give her the divorce she wants. Talk about stabbing her in the heart. Valentina's heart was shattered and her spirit was crushed, but not her determination. She's got a strong backbone and she decides to dust herself off and become the adult she should have been all along, as she moves on with her life. Kairos knows he will never be able to love his wife the way she wants him to, so he will take this couple of months to finish up a business deal with his own family, then he and Valentina will officially part ways. There's so much angstiness in this story, from Valentina's heartbreak that her husband truly wont ever love her, to the daughter of Kairos' adoptive parents always throwing herself at Kairos and telling Valentina all about her lusty history with Kairos, to Kairos finally setting Valentina free and finishing off Valentina's devastation. This story was extremely well written and these character's heartbreaking story was totally addicting. I loved every second of it.
OMG!!! This book was freaking amazing. I was utterly blown away by how much I loved this book, and I loved it from cover to cover. There wasn’t a moment that I wasn’t absolutely consumed by this story and the characters. It was such an amazing ride with lots of ups and downs along the way with both Valentina and Kairos. There were plenty of feels. Plenty of angst. Lots of tearful moments that just broke my heart as I watched their story play out on the page. It was a lot emotionally that just kept on going and going and never seemed to stop, though it was a lot it was absolutely wonderful and perfect all the way around. I loved it, and below I’m going to go into details about the story and what I loved about it because there’s so much to talk about:
First off, I just recently read about Valentina’s brother Leandro in his own book with the introduction of Valentina present there, as well as the set up with Valentina and Kairos, and how Leandro set that up and agreed to give Kairos the family company if he married Valentina. Valentina found about the arrangement that they made, and how Kairos really didn’t want her for her, but the company, causing much upset and her deciding to leave Kairos and their marriage. And this story picked up nine months after she had left Kairos. So with that setup already in place, I was intrigued about Valentina as well as Kairos and just their story in general, and made me wonder if they would have a story someday unbeknownst me I had already ordered it online and realized that I would have it soon. It was a very happy surprise, and I knew once I got it that I would devour it, and I did especially with Valentina and Kairos being fresh in my mind.
Secondly, I have been really into second chance romances in stories of late especially when the couple is married because of all the emotional baggage and all this drama from when their marriage didn’t go right the first time around. Then for whatever circumstances they were reunited and had to face their issues, love and passion for one another, and learn to heal and trust each other as they get that love that they both deserve as they work through those issues. In this case, Kairos needed Valentina back in his life in order to keep a woman a bay, who was very, very interested in him while he wasn’t. The catch was this woman was the daughter of the family that adopted him and wanted him to marry her so that he could takeover the family officially. There was lots of drama with the daughter and the family that it was beyond complicated and Kairos didn’t want to deal with it so he enlisted Valentina’s help so he could takeover the company without hurting feelings because he was already married. He promised that he would divorce, which was what she wanted, her if she agreed to play his wife for three more months.
Complicated emotional issues in their marriage was the understatement of the heart. They had so much turmoil and strife in their marriage it was a wonder that they even got a second chance. The whole Leandro arranging their marriage was the least of their worries, and this where it got really juicy, complicated, and very angsty. I wasn’t prepared for how angsty and emotional this one was going to get, but boy did it, and I loved it. It was so good and kept the spark running all the way through the story as they came back together to deal with their marriage and the mess it was. It was mess. They didn’t have a good relationship at all. He was pretty awful to her and just some of the things he said and did, making her hurt and lash out at him by acting in childish ways in order to get his attention. Was it the right thing for her to do? No, absolutely, and Kairos called it, it was big temper tantrum, but not understanding that it was due to her insecurity more than anything than her just being brat. And they had some really passionate fights as they butted heads, and that continued into the present. The only really positive side to their relationship was the passion that they shared with each other, and it was intense especially with all the fighting they did. It was a lot.
And at first, when the reunited again they had that same friction between them yet Valentina grew and changed over the nine months that she had been separated from him. She was more mature and didn’t let her emotions get the better. She was hurt still when Kairos acted the same way that he did in the marriage and even crueler than that, but she didn’t lash out in a dramatic way like she was used to, instead she kept it inside and kept the pain internal, which Kairos deal with expecting his wife to be the same that she was and she wasn’t, and this time Kairos could see that he hurt her and had been hurting her for some time now.
Admittedly Kairos was an absolute jerk to Valentina both in the marriage and in the beginning of the book. He was beyond cruel. He called her some not so flattering things. He told her that she was basically nothing to him that all her valued her for was the between the sheets, and many more things that broke Valentina’s poor heart, and it broke my heart as well because she didn’t deserve all that pain he was doling out to her, however despite the fact that he was truly awful to her I never truly hated nor disliked him anytime in the book. Did I think he was overtop? Yes. Was he cruel? Beyond, but there was something I could see beyond all that and saw who he truly was. He was hurt when she left him. He cared more about her than he let on, not trusting emotions. He didn’t know how to deal with all the feelings that he had for her and didn’t know how react. Am I saying what he did was right? Absolutely not, but I could beyond the facade. And also when he realized how much damage that he was doing to her and what he did to her during their marriage, he stopped being that jerk and started to do things make things better. He was trying learn how to have relationship with her and build a connection with her. He did small things to show that he cared, though she didn’t trust them right away, he still did that, and the fact that he admitted to himself that he was in the wrong so early on in the book made me enjoy his character even more.
As for Valentina, I enjoyed her as well. She wasn’t blameless in their messed up marriage, but she made a concerted effort to change herself for the better so she could be a better person. She gave up her wealth and worked for her living so she could appreciate the value of a dollar. She grew more mature emotionally, realizing she couldn’t have an explosive temper tantrum every time she didn’t get her way. A big thing was that she was learning who she was and how to independent without her brothers and husband. That took a serous amount of courage and guts to do that and just made her an even stronger person. I admired her so much for doing that and just how much work she did do to change herself. But it also made her realize that as much love in heart she had for Kairos she had to leave because they had a very toxic relationship and that wasn’t good for either one of them. And seeing her transformation throughout the book was really good because it took her time to open up to Kairos again after they reunited.
Another thing I really enjoyed seeing was them working through their issues in their marriage and just how much toxicity there was. Both of them realized that they didn’t do the healthiest thing in their relationship and they needed to change that in order to make it work between them. As they worked through their issues, they also got to know each because in reality they had no clue who other was, so they had to learn. It was great to see them develop that emotional intimacy before the physical intimacy came into play again. It just showed how much they matured and grew.
As for the physical part of their relationship, that certainly lacking. The passion between them was still there, but had another layer to it because they were adding all this emotional stuff into the mix. Their intimacy in every way deepened their connection to each other and brought them closer together. It was less about slaking their lust and more about the tender, intimate moments between them, and it was beautiful. The first time full blown love scene after they reunited was very poignant moment between them. It was very sweet, very loving, very passionate, and showed that it was more than them getting laid. It was about the two of them in a very special moment between them. There was no rush just love between them. The love scenes that followed were very much the same and very much about their love and connection and intimacy more than anything else, and that was amazing, and I loved that so much especially after the amount of work it took to get to that point for both of them. Very beautiful.
Even though they didn’t work in the beginning, they defiantly worked as the book progressed and it was easy to see that they needed each other. They understood each other once everything came to light, and they worked for it, and that made the book all the more satisfying. It made me believe in their relationship and them as a couple. There was always love between them even if it wasn’t expressed in the appropriate way, but it was there beneath the surface. It was very intense. Passionate. And just a multitude of things. I thought this showed really what it took to make a marriage work between them. And just worked in general. This made the book very realistic with many hard truths looked upon. This was a very honest portrayal of marriage and how it wasn’t easy, but if the work was put in like Valentina and Kairos did, all the more rewarding. And that’s a very powerful message especially in romance. It’s not always hearts and flowers. It can be hard, and this was a perfect example of that.
I could go on more about this book, but general it was just amazing and I loved it. It was very raw and very real. There plenty of heartbreak and tears along the way, but with the amount of work they did those tears soon turned to joy and rewards came their way as they fought for their marriage and each other. The passion was strong between them but that wasn’t enough to sustain their marriage. They needed more from each other and needed to do it together. It was hard but worth it in the end with this great satisfying love that would bond them in such an intimacy that no one else could breach with their eyes on each other. There was a lot of angst. A lot of drama. Just a lot of everything on her emotional forefront, but I loved it because it gave me so many feels that I felt it deep in my bones, and that’s what I want while reading a romance novel. I want to be consumed by it, and consumed with Valentina’s and Karios’s story, and couldn’t look away for a second. I was totally invested in them as a couple and separately. It was an amazing ride to go on. I will be definitely reread this one again over and over again because I want to go on that emotional journey with them again and again because it was that good. It was amazing.
Highly recommend for Presents reader as well as any romance lovers out there who love second chance marriage love stories that have lots of intense and angsty moments that will blow your socks off. You will be consumed by this story like I was so get ready not be able to put this down once you get started. You’ve been warned.

DNF at 50%. I just couldn't warm up to either h or H. h seemed beyond fickle and she was just that in her past life. A Paris Hilton who now wanted to get off her pedestal and live a regular life.
The banter was cruel but the writing not very smooth. With so much internal monologue the dialogues always fell short of making their point. The jabs seemed try-hard especially with the constant use of "si" and "ne" in a faux way. I've read enough books on greek heroes to know how often and in what moods "si" and "ne" would be used naturally.
Have better books to catch. This one couldn't keep me despite my best tries!
I had a few Modern/Sexy books lying around the house after being picked up for $1 at an op shop, or given to me by others (I generally won't buy them new), and figured I could plow my way through them in a few days because they're quick reads. Wrong! This is another that took me several days because I wasn't all that caught up in what was going on, with the proceedings being flat and often confusingly described.
This one has Valentina being "blackmailed" into continuing her marriage to Kairos, even though she walked out on him nine (ten?) months ago after discovering the marriage was a business deal between her older brother and Kairos. I'm not quite sure how it was actually blackmail. There are some vague threats about paparazzi, but that's about it. Plus, there were no stipulations that sex be involved, so I was happy to go along with it. So they're skipping off to Greece to put on the marriage show for his adopted parents.
I think. The details of exactly why Kairos needed to "blackmail" Valentina to remain married before granting her a divorce are oh-so-fuzzy, but seem to revolve, like most of the book, around the actions of Kairos' adopted parents' biological daughter, Helena. Helena is a vile creature, and just about all the turmoil, drama and conflict in this novel exists because of her, and her whole family's inability to stand up to her. There's some internal conflict from Valentina that Kairos doesn't respect her and can't love her. There's some internal conflict from Kairos that giving his heart away can cause too much hurt. Otherwise, it's all just Helena, Helena, Helena.
There's some event late in the book that is another of Helena's evil's plans, which had something to do with one of her garments stuck in a door and Kairos taking a shower? Could someone help me out here? I have no idea what she was intending. Her plan was foiled, but I was very puzzled over exactly what this latest evil thing Helena had done was. Maybe because by then I was well and truly sick and tired of nobody lifting a bloody finger to stop this cow from doing what she was doing.
Worst of all, there's no comeuppance of any satisfying sort for Helena - she's left with a tidy inheritance, and she's still causing trouble right up until the last chapter. I was not in the slightest convinced that Kairos and Helena could have a happy marriage or life with this unbalanced harpy still waiting in the wings to throw another emotionally manipulative spanner in the works. She needed to be in a car that drove off a cliff and exploded.
Too much external drama that was confusingly described and too little emotional conflict between h and H made this book feel very flat and tiresome for me, which is why it took me so long to read it.
I bought this book a while back and never read it but I don't know why. It was a very good book but the hero was pretty cold. I thought he was changing but then he pulled away again. No bueno! Couple marry, she is very volatile but very in love with him and then she finds out it was a business deal and she a walked away. Now she wasn't a placid wife either, she suffered from fear of rejection and low self esteem and she tried to push all of his buttons so he would show her he cared. But he really didn't. She was jealous, insecure and just found out her Father was not really her Father at all but the result of an affair with the chauffeur. She ran from everybody and tried to better herself to show that she had value. I understood her so well. And when she ran, he did not go after her. It broke her heart. He comes back to use her as wifeoflauge for a couple of months so he could get away from his evil adopted sister. I cried in this book at the pain he inflicted on her but she ended up being a very strong person. The four stars are basically for her and how much she loved her husband in spite of his actions. He was broken too but there is no excuse for his he treated her. Yes she was a little too much but she just wanted a reaction from him. It was just so pathetic at times. This is safe too and I haven't read the other books in this series but I still enjoyed it. I think it's a series?
I lost interest during Chapter 2. The way the book began was the problem. It began in the middle of the heroine & hero's separation. The bickering between them gave me a headache. I didn't warm to the heroine. I wasn't hooked immediately so I wasn't interested in reading what would happen next.
Blackmailed by the Greek’s Vows is Tara Pammi’s latest sensual romance full of passion and family secrets, featuring an estranged couple who get a second chance to turn their marriage around.
Valentina married Kairos Constantinou in a match arranged by her brother for business reasons. Though she longed for her husband’s love, he seemed mostly critical of her, a reaction that caused her to act out in impetuous and dramatic ways to get his attention. When she realized that he would never let himself love her, she left him. Secretly she hoped he’d come after her but when he didn’t, she started out from scratch, refusing help from her wealthy brothers as she tried to rebuild her social networks to develop a business focused on personal style and fashion.
Ten months later Kairos needs Valentina’s help for three months while he deals with a situation involving his foster parents and their treacherous daughter (a woman who would like nothing better than to have Kairos to herself). Presenting a united married front is key, and in return he will grant Valentina’s request for a divorce when the time is up. In truth, Kairos hopes that convincing Valentina to sleep with him again will ensure he can get her out of his system once and for all. Sex was never their problem and rekindling that side of their relationship brings back many passionate memories. But this time, with a little communication and open minds, can it lead them to save their marriage?
I really loved this one. Both H and h went through some significant character growth and I found the romance to be immensely satisfying. I cracked this open around midnight just to get a peek (famous last words) and finished a little after 3 am. I couldn't put it down!
These two were married in a business arrangement and when the h finds out she gets angry and leaves him after 10 months of marriage. After a 9 month separation, the H approaches the H to give him 3 months of a fake happy marriage and he'll grant her the divorce and wants.
During their first 10 months the spoiled, immature h did everything she could to get the distant and cold H to pay attention to her. Since she left, she discovered a secret about herself, cut herself off financially from her family, and has been doing grunt work in the fashion industry. She discovered that most of her friends were weasels and not worth her time. She is not the same woman she was before.
The H tells her from the start that he can't and won't love her. He misses the woman she used to be, so open and vulnerable, giving her love freely. He considers that maybe she has changed, that maybe he was a cold bastard to her before. (Spoiler, he was.) Maybe they're equally to blame for the breakdown of their marriage. He begins to finally open up to her and her love and acceptance begin to change his heart.
I loved the romance, the relationship development, the obstacles felt true and real, and the characters reactions were genuine. The final chapters with the confessions of love and groveling were awesome.
My one quibble is how the H forgave his adopted mother for her betrayal. It was too sudden and very glossed over. She really did him wrong and messed him up for years and that deserved more impact. And the evil OW got a tiny comeuppance but it also included a huge financial settlement so that took all the teeth out.
heroine-in love with hero but finds out her marriage was brokered by her 1/2 brother...she flees the marriage denouncing her family and husband and all their wealth. She’s quite the firecracker! She’s barely surviving on her own and no longer the sought after socialite party girl! The hero was her first lover. She is one of the best h’s I have read in awhile. She has a nice combination of vulnerability and strength. I’m really glad she gets her HEA!
Hero- things in his past prevent him from embracing the dreaded “L” word! However, he is overwhelmed by the h and would have happily continued their marriage. He was looking forward to it. He is not a manwhore!! He’s 29 and the h is only his 2nd(and last) lover. The hero is not a bad guy....he just has to work through a lot of things before he permanently loses the girl!
He feels betrayed that she left him(obviously didn’t love him like she said and everyone else in his life) and she is upset that he didn’t chase her down(obviously proving he didn’t care for her) Both feel unworthy of each other at times.
It took him 9 months (no secret babies) for h to go after her(there were reasons) and now he needs her for 3 more months and will hopefully work her out of his system.
There is a lot going on in this book! There is an evil ow who makes a lot of messes for the H, but our h seems to handle the spoiled princess in stride.
What’s nice is despite the H’s adopted parents mistakes at times, they were likable. Once H married the h they will get a daughter they never had and the promise of 4 or more grandchildren 😳
After starting and stopping a number of books I decided to pick up an HP, hoping a formula romance would break my slump. Thankfully this book fit the bill. The marriage on the rocks trope was well written, and I liked how the heroine grew as a person. The hero had some hangups, but I understood based on his upbringing.
Overall I enjoyed this quick story, definitely recommend for HP fans.
DNF @ 32% - No rating It’s not bad, really. I was hooked enough at the beginning to purchase this, but I eventually got bored. Must be me. It started feeling predictable and right now, I need more to keep me engaged. I need angst. I need to feel the chemistry between the main characters, that’s for sure.
Tara Pammi, please don't change your writing style! Wow! This couple was explosive and feisty. I love their dynamite dialogues and verbal clashes. Their love was so deep and yet on the surfaces they were sizzling. I thoroughly enjoyed this one...seriously don't change how you write.I'm soooo looking forward to more books from you. Keep them coming.
While the characters are pretty basic archetypes the plot was actually pretty fun to follow and the amount of background covered disputes all the sexy time they shared is oddly amazing! A fun afternoon read.
Fantastic read, a hero who is looking for acceptance from those he believes he owes the most to and a heroine who comes from a similar background makes this an intense romance.
Valentina always believed in the longing that consumed her and husband, Kairos—until her devastating discovery that her marriage was a coldhearted business deal. Despite their undeniable chemistry, she refuses to remain bound to the ruthless Greek. But before granting a divorce, Kairos demands she play his adoring wife again. And when their intense fire reignites, Valentina is at the mercy of her own desire
This one definitely needed an epilogue and I would have given it a 5 star. Kairos and Valentina had painful schildhoods that made it hard to trust anyone. Tina gave her heart to Kairos but he rejected her over and over, and used her for his own purposes. They both grew and learned to be a great individuals and even better together and it was so easy to believe they would love each other and have their HEA!
Both Valentina (Tina, we never know her age ) and Kairos are illegitimate. Both never knew their fathers and lost mothers in a young age.Tina went to live with her brothers and their grandfather, the latter never liked her.She learned the truth quite recently.Kairos became a street urchin, a thief ,and was rescued and adopted by Theseus and Maria Markos .Now Kairos is 29 and their daughter Helena is after him. But Kairos is married to Tina for two years now, although she has left him 9 months ago.In the beginning of their marriage Tina is pampered, spoiled, rich girl used to throw her brothers's money at will. Upon learning she is not a Conti, Tina bolted and started a new life. Now Kairos wants her to stay with him for 3 months -and then she'll get the divorce she craves . Tina wants trust, respect and love from her husband.Helena dislikes her and makes her look bad at work.Helena was a late child and as such became spoiled and wilful. She tried to trap Kairos in marriage, but failed. Kairos realizes his wife has good business ideas .She wants tto utilize her knowledge of clothes to become a stylist. There are many issues in the story- parents and children, siblings, lies and betrayal, spouse abuse and explicit sex. This is the conclusion to the Conti brothers, but I didn't get this feeling of the end. There is no epilogue .
Somehow, I missed this. Was bummed a bit by TP's last maybe. But OMG Valentina's story was everything I expected it to.
I LOVED that she changed from such a spoilt brat to a mature grown up woman. And Kairos...Phew...he has so much depth, even if so cruel in the beginning.
The sex scenes were some of the hottest I've ever read and yet completely true to the characters!!!
All 3 books - the Conti brothers and the Conti sister stories - all of them have been exceptional, altho it's a tie between Luca's story (Unwanted Conti Bride) and this one.
This is about the sister of Congo men. From previous books. This is her story. He had a ruff childhood and because of his past thought that he couldn't love. He married her for a business partnership. She thought he truly wanted her. But when she finds out she leaves. Now he is back and it take blackmail to get her to agree to stay until h e is finished with a business deal.
