Nawet i 3.5!

Its definitely you Dana. To take a story and run with it. Not just one bad guy but three wow. I love the plot to this story for we have the original bad guy Sullivan but that's not enough we add the heroine Kendra Bell to the mix who has a past with her own bad guy. Then if thats not enough we have Ethan Webb's ex Jullian who has an unexpect bad guy on her tail. This is a awesome story that has unexpected twists to this that will keep you hopping to as to what
is happening next. Than you also have Ethan's partner Titus who is a four legged partner. Who has such a personality in his own way that will have you chuckling. Its a fast paced book that will have you turning the pages to see what is happening next. Each of the characters are unique and fun to read. Dana has been one of my favourites for a longtime and she has done a great job here. The book is fast paced and well written.

I somehow got behind on this Military K-9 Unit series so I happily get to play catch-up with books 3, 4 & 5 -- and have to do it quickly since the sixth book releases in September. And this is a long series -- nine books! I'm not sure I can handle the over-arcing suspense through to November! That wily Sullivan (crazy killer/stalker dude) is so brazen it has me spitting mad! Gah! Thankfully, each story has it's own mystery (or two) to solve so each book brings some resolution and, of course, a romantical happily-ever-after. :-)

But, oh no, early on I feared that I wouldn't connect with this heroine because of this:

"I don't like dogs," she snapped.
"That's okay. He probably doesn't like you either." (p17)

Bwahahaha -- great comeback, Ethan! And one of the reasons I loved him right away. He and his dog, Titus, are simpatico. Seriously, they know what the other is thinking and the they finish each other's sentences. Blissful sigh -- I do so adore a dog whisperer hero! And Titus -- that's him on the cover, isn't he handsome? -- well, he's right up there as far as hero material go so this book offers up double swoons for the canine devotees out there.

Thankfully, Kendra warms up to Titus -- seriously, how could she resist his charm? Speaking of which, Ethan has a bushel full of his own so I was a goner for most the read. Luckily there were enough hair-raising moments to slap me out of my fangirling stupor. And it's all punctuated with some great (and unexpected) laugh-out-loud moments! That's sweet perfection to this happily-ever-after-lovin' reader.

"The only thing keeping this dog from tearing you to pieces is me, so I suggest you stand still, very still, and tell me what I want to know."

Military Police Lieutenant Ethan Webb and his K-9 partner, Titus, have been charged to protect the woman posing as his ex wife because a killer is after her. Ethan is not thrilled with this assignment, but he follows orders. Kendra Bell, who looks nearly identical to his ex wife, is a private investigator herself and hates the fact that she is the bait for this killer, who has killed many times before. She wants to help Ethan bring down the killer, but it appears another killer is after her!

I am a forever fan of Dana Mentink. She does suspense well. As a southerner, I especially loved that she makes Ethan Webb a southerner. He was a great character and I loved him! His wit, his love for his dog, his devotion to duty. All these qualities make for a great hero. And Kendra is also a great character: sacrificial, determined to bring down not one but two criminals. Bravo!

*My thanks to the publisher and author for a copy of this book. The opinions stated above are entirely my own.

This book was a great Military K-9 Unit series addition! It was what I would expect from this author. Her stories always feature a lot of action and character development and this book had both. I have a hard time putting one of her books down and that was the case with this one! Not only do we have the main case of the serial killer, the Red Rose Killer, but we have TWO other killers to deal with in this book! Does that make this an super action book or what? Ethan and Kendra are thrown together to work together simply because Kendra looks like Ethan's ex-wife and she's going to be "bait" for the Red Rose Killer. They clash from the get go! Then, there's the whole "she doesn't like dogs thing" and Ethan is a K-9 officer! I loved their interactions! The final scene in the book was the best part of the book and my very favorite! I think readers will enjoy it very much!
I definitely recommend this book. I received this book from the author but was not required to write a review. My opinions are my own.

Fast paced and unpredictable, Ethan Webb and his K-9 partner, Titus have their hands full protecting his former wife's lookalike. More than one suspect appears to be out to kill Ethan's former wife, and the plot thickens when it appears that her lookalike, Kendra Bell has some enemies of her own.

I had no idea who the murderer was in this book. There are a number of suspicious characters who could be out to kill, but the real killer was not one I would have expected. With several suspects involved in this mystery, any number of people could pass for a sadistic murderer. They all have the means, but who has the motive? Only two suspects are on the radar, and Ethan, Titus and Kendra are all on alert. Don't miss this exciting thriller! It kept me up until the wee hours!

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book with no expectations for a positive review. All expressed opinions are my own.

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Top Secret Target. This is the third book in the continuity series Military K-9 Unit. This has been an awesome series and I look forward to reading the next book. Dana is one of my favorite authors. This story is well written, action packed, and fast paced. Dana has interwoven her faith through the story like a well woven tapestry. You are going to love this one.

Military Police Officer First Lieutenant Ethan Webb and his partner Titus are assigned to protect his ex-wife. Marine Lieutenant Jillian Masters is one of the targets for the Red Rose Killer. The last thing Ethan wants is to spend any time with his unfaithful ex-wife. Ethan has been requested personally by his ex-father-in-law, a Marine Lt. Colonel. When he arrives he finds a look alike is the woman he will be protecting. They are using her a bait and he is to pretend they are in love and getting back together.

PI Kenda Bell owes Jullian. She helped her get away from her abusive ex-boyfriend and saved her life. She is willing to put a target on her back for Jillian and then her debt would be paid. She is upset when she learns that Ethan is to work with her. She does not need a man to protect her and besides her best friend, Baby (a cat) doesn't get along with Titus.. When she starts receiving threats and then is attacked it's hard to know if it's the Red Rose killer or her ex-boyfriend who is out of prison. One thing is for sure someone wants her dead.

A difficult journey for these two soul. Both had been hurt and carry a lot of baggage. But God had a plan for these two, a good plan and not for evil. God ha a plan for you too. Give Him your heart and watch Him turn your life around.

Review of Dana Mentink’s newest book “Top Secret Target”

This is the second book I have read of Dana’s that is a part of a series where each book in the series is written by a different author, continuing the story line.
Both books have been about K-9 units, this last one about Military K-9 units.
Top Secret Target was a pleasure to read. Dana’s ability to describe movement and facial expressions of a dog to where you can imagine the scene is uncanny. Like when Titus jumped on the bed, laid down and showed he felt no remorse for taking over the whole bed. When Titus barks and scares a cat, Ethan scolds him, the look Titus gives Ethan says “But it was a cat”.
The story of a killer on the loose, battle lines drawn between the police and military police and how much info each needs to give the other, along with personal battles between ex’s and learning to forgive make Top Secret Target a book I have read 3 times and enjoy more every time I read it.
A personal note to Dana,
Dana I would love for you to write a series on the K-9 units where you write all of the series. To read how you bring about the finish of something you started but was a continuous threat.
Like your series of the private eyes but with two common threads. In your private eye series you had the family as the common thread. But each book followed one of the sisters. This series I envision you writing would 1. Follow the same reason the K-9 Unit is on the scene, be it a serial killer or missing persons and 2. Keep the story line going not by each person but by each animal you introduce to the readers.
Just a thought. Great writing on Top Secret Target.
Can’t wait for the next book!

Dana Mentink's books just keep getting better. Caught my attention right away and didn't let go. Ethan and his partner Titus (K-9 team) are detailed to his ex-wife's look-a-like friend. A killer is on the loose and then a few other twists are thrown in. Ethan is in the Air Force but pulled into a detail against his will for another branch of service. Kendra looks enough like Ethan's ex for the killer to come after her not realizing she's a stand-in. You think you have it figured out and suddenly there is a turn that throws your own conclusion into the trash. How would you like to guard someone that looks like an ex you just want to forget and never see again?

I received this book as an ARC and the review is voluntary. All opinions are my own and I can honestly say that Dana is one of my favorite authors. I loved this book and read it in one day. Can't wait to read her next book "Cowboy Bodyguard". Will be reading it tonight and tomorrow so look for my review. Top Secret Target is due out in June and Cowboy Bodyguard is due out in July by Harlequin. Highly recommend anything that Dana Mentink writes.

Top Secret Target by Dana Mentink is a suspense-filled novel that has danger lurking around every corner! This fast paced read will have you on the edge of your seat!
Kendra Bell owes Jillian her life and she is willing to "play the part" of Jillian to get a suspected killer to come after her. Kendra's part includes getting back together with Jillian's ex-husband, military police lieutenant, Ethan Webb. Kendra and Ethan, along with his K-9 partner, Titus, make a pretty good team, but will they be able to track down the killer before it is too late? Ethan and Kendra have to watch their backs because the killer isn't the only one who is after "Jillian". You will definitely want to check out this book to find out the rest of the story!
The author really brings the characters to life. They experience circumstances that we can all relate to including, fear, frustration, anger, faith, hope and love. This book is part of the Military K-9 Unit series, a must-read series! Once you start reading this book, you won't be putting it down anytime soon!
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book from the author and have given my honest opinion.

Have you ever read a book and actually hugged it, while letting out a big sigh, when you were finished? This was my reaction after finishing this wonderful book by Dana Mentink. Embarrassingly, my teenage daughter came in at just that moment and asked me why I was hugging my book. When I started to explain, she quickly moseyed out of the room. (In her defense, I may have gone on and on about why I was hugging said book!)

This story is excellent! Dana writes the best characters - especially of the K-9 variety! Ethan and Kendra are pretty awesome too. My favorite thing about this book is the pops of humor that are sprinkled throughout the book. Humor in a suspense book? Yes! And done perfectly! And the suspense? Well, I can’t say much, but I totally didn’t see “it” coming! And the end? Well, you will just have to read it! But, my picture was totally inspired by it.

This is the third book in the Red Rose Killer series, but it can easily be read as a stand-alone. I highly recommend this wonderful book!

5 stars!!

Take my word for it, don’t start reading Top Secret Target by Dana Mentink too late at night. You might end up like me, finally falling asleep at 4:30 a.m.! I fell in love with Ethan Webb and his K-9 partner, Titus, at first contact. Kendra Bell only added to the anticipation of getting to the end of this episode in Love Inspired Suspense’s series Military K-9 Unit.

I love Titus’s comical antics and Ethan’s tolerance and reaction to his partner sometimes falling out of his training to do things his own way. Kendra is a strong-willed private investigator hired to help track down a serial killer along with Ethan and Titus. Her past interferes and complicates their hunt.

The remaining books in the series are written by other authors. I’ve read books by all except two of the writers, so I know the other books will be as gripping. Now to go on a search for the first two books.

I received my copy of Top Secret Target in exchange for an honest review, which I have given.

Top Secret Target is another great edition in this Military K-9 Unit series!!

Ethan Webb must protect Kendra Bell the strong-willed, courageous Private Investigator who wants to help catch the Red Rose Killer, but when she gets attacked multiple times she must face someone from her past. Ethan along with his faithful companion Titus is doing everything to protect Kendra, can they survive the killers? Can they come to terms with how they each fill about one another and start a future?

Fast pace action, suspense and twist and turns along the way. I was on the edge of my seat, reading each page wondering what would happen next. you can never predict what will happen next you just have to read until you get to the end. I look forward to reading the rest of the stories in this series!!

I received an ARC from the author, the above review is my own opinion and thoughts.

Wow. Not one bad guy, not two, but three??! All wrapped into a seamless story. This is the next in the series of the Military K9 Unit and it keeps you reading.

Ethan and Kendra will do anything to catch a killer but can they put aside their stubbornness to work together to catch the bad guy? Kendra has come to base to be “Jillian” in order to keep her out of harms way and lure out the Red Rose Killer. Will she succeed with the plan?

Jillian’s ex-husband, Ethan gets roped into the mix along with his dog Titus to help lay a trap and capture the killer. But every lead the get fizzles out to nothing, meanwhile someone from the past is gunning for Kendra.

Will they figure it out before it’s to late? Can they capture the Red Rose Killer, and escape the wrath from Andy? Find out in this book. It’s a page turner that keeps you hooked until the very end.

3.5 Rating. Military K-9 Unit installment #3. Ethan Webb and his K-9 partner Titus are on loan to Baylor Marine Corps Base. His ex-wife has become the Red Rose Killer’s next target but little does he know that Jillian has gone into hiding. In Jillian’s place is her friend and look-alike, Kendra Bell. Kendra is a private investigator and has been hired by Jillian’s father, Lieutenant Colonel Terrence Masters. Their job—apprehend the Red Rose Killer before he can kill Jillian.
Kendra’s ex is trying to kill her too. He was just released from prison and is out for revenge. Ethan vows to protect her no matter what. There are several attempts on Kendra’s life.
I liked this book a lot. It was full of action and adventure with several twists and turns. It also has a surprise villain that I didn’t expect.

`Top Secret Target` is a mass market love inspired paperback book by author Dana Mentink. It's a great book for readers who enjoy suspense. From the very first chapter, this book has you sitting on the edge of your seat. Lieutenant Ethan Webb's ex-wife is on the hit list of the Red Rose Killer.

Kendra Bell, PI, looks like Ethan's ex-wife. Working together can they stop the killer before he kills Jillian? `Top Secret Target` is more than a suspense book. It's also a book on love for animals. Kendra loves her cat and Ethan loves his K-9 dog, and the animals love their owners.

I highly recommend this book for fans of suspense.

To catch a killer they must risk even their lives...

I've come to expect a lot from a Dana Mentink novel. Excitement, danger, intrigue, and of course, romance. Just when I think she has reached the pinnacle, she comes tops it with a new story. Needless to say, Top Secret Target did that and more.

Over the last few years I've read several K-9 unit related books and I have to say that I think Titus was my favorite of all of the K-9's so far. He's a big quirky galoot who knows his job and is loyal to the bone.

I absolutely loved every minute of Top Secret Target, there were so many twists and turns that I was kept engrossed and guessing throughout.

Kendra poses as a Marine trying to catch her friend's killer. She is a P.I. An angry boyfriend is released from prison and he threatened her with harm. Then there is a third person no one suspects. Ethen, is told he will set himself up and held Kendra catch a killer who wants to harm his wife. Kendra looks like his ex-wife. Titus is Ethan's k-9 partner. Danger, suspense and lots of other stuff happen as Kendra and Ethen try to track down the Red Rose Killer. Even something Kendra and Ethen do not expect happens. You won't be able to lay down the book and will be kept guessing to the end.

Still searching for the Red Rose Killer, the task force is unveiling a new tactic. This is to use a look-alike for one of his targets - Jillian Masters, Ethan Webb's ex-wife, and his worst mistake. Fate has placed a chance in the team's hands - a lookalike who is indebted to Jillian and is willing to place her life on the line for her.

Ethan is reluctant to take on this charade, but he and his K-9 partner do their duty. Before they know it they are deep into a big morass of secrets, lies, and vendettas. The three are in almost constant danger and another enemy is exposed and caught. There's an HEA, too, even though the Red Rose Killer is still at large.

A fast-paced, action-packed story about a soldier and his faithful dog, this exciting novel will keep you rushing through it to see how it plays out. Ethan Webb attempts to stop two killers before they murder another person. Surprises and increasing danger add to the tension of the characters on the page and for the reader who holds them in her hands. The people seem alive, and the mystery difficult to solve. The serial killer remains at large at the end of the book, so there must be a sequel coming. Hope it will be soon. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.

Top Secret Target by Dana Mentink is the third book in the Military K-9 Unit series. Ethan Webb is shocked and somewhat exasperated when he gets a call from his former father-in-law because his ex-wife has been targeted by Boyd Sullivan AKA the Red Rose Killer. He cant even fathom working with his ex-wife.
Kendra Bell, a PI and the spitting image of Jillian, is a thorn in Ethan's side at first. Until he sees the real her, not the woman she's pretending to be. Now, Ethan, along with his canine parter, Titus, will do anything to keep Kendra safe and by his side forever.

So many surprises

Kendra and one of the women on the Red Rose Killer's to do list could pass for twins, Ethan had been married to that woman. In order to draw the Red Rose Killer out Kendra agreed to be bait, and Ethan agreed to protect her by pretending that him and his ex-wife was getting back together. This book had so many twist and turns I could hardly keep up. This book has attempted murder by more than one person, a wasp nest, kidnapping, a bomb, and God leading Kendra and Ethan to realize you can find true love with the person God has chosen for you.

A great book. Even though this was #3 and I had not read books 1 or 2, I didn’t have any trouble figuring out what was going on because the author gave enough background. I loved Ethan, Kendra, and (of course) Titus. This was a very exciting story and I loved how the author was able to show just how special these military dogs are. I would definitely recommend this book.

great heart-warming story. Jillian is next on the rose killers list. Her ex has the job of keeping her alive

Jillian has been chosen to be the rose killers next victim but her ex has been pulled in to keep her alive. The only problem is she isn’t Jillian. She is a almost perfect look alike Named Kendra. Thats the start of a great read, exciting, hazardous and even has a dog and cat.

I enjoy the K-9 stories in the Love Inspired series and have found Dana Mentink is a good author who keeps her plot moving. Top Secret Target continues the pursuit of a serial killer who leaves red roses on the bodies of his victims as his calling card. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Lieutenant Webb and his K-9 partner must protect his ex-wife. They actually protect a look alike to keep his ex safe. Kendra is bate for a killer that thinks she is the ex-wife. Plenty of action and interaction. trying to protect an independent woman is a challenge. Keeping your heart safe, even more so.

I've been very much enjoying this series. This one, in particular, was fun due to the relationship between the handler and his dog. The authors (who change with each book) have done a good job showing the level of discipline involved in training and working with these dogs. You also learn what these dogs can do. It creates whole new level of respect for K9 dogs in general.
