As engrossed as Danika generally is in her work - even she notices the underlying hostility with which the locals in the small northwestern town regard her - and her research.

She notices the biker gang that arrives
shortly behind her even more . . .

With their long hair, tattoos, and piercings, the rough group of bikers aren't the sort of men she's ever had contact with - and shouldn't want to have contact with - but they don't seem to grasp that they're not her type and . . . she isn't theirs.

Danika is sent to a small northwestern town to find out if the reported wolf attacks are cause for concern by Forestry Management or if it is just a random event. Solely focused in her job she has a few hurdles when the town is unwilling to share information and the lone wolf she has found and tagged twice keeps losing it's tag.

When a group of bikers arrives and seem to take an interest in her, she is not sure what to do. They look rough and part of a gang but on closer inspection they are quite stunning and irresistable. Just when she thinks she has seen the last of them, they end up in the cabin next door that she is renting.

Connor, Dakota, Balin, Xavier, and Jarod all want Danika, but wolfens don't share and they don't mate with humans. Although something about Danika has them going will and unwilling to let her go.

I liked this one a lot, has a few flaws in the editing but well worth the read. You get to know most of the main characters, Jarod you kind of do but he is a bit smaller in the scheme of things.

*** I decided to reread this for a challenge, even better the second time around. Xavier still is my favorite, he is adorable.

Well, this is supposed to be a paranormal story with shape shifters and a mysterious wolf situation in a remote town. I guess you could say it met that criterion but the actual story was pretty limited. I would probably not have finished this book, giving it 1 star, but in this case, I did finish, so I could discuss it with those doing the buddy read.

The most outstanding feature of this book is the main character, Danika, has got to be probably the most annoyingly foolish, stupid, narrow minded, and whiny character I've met. Ever.

I wish the author had explored the paranormal elements and actually developed a story about the shape shifters but that didn't happen.

Okay. This book? Was good. There was good plot progression, well laid out mythology and it didn't feel as forced as some of the other books by this author. In other words, I liked it. Yes, we're still in the multiple partner genre and there's claiming and marking and hot sex. I'm enjoying this set of books I've been reading. Why mess with a good thing?

Danika Whitney has been sent to a small town to study a pack of wolves that have been acting outside the norm. She's noticed some hostility from the natives, but that's small potatoes when a biker gang rolls into town and turns Danika's life upside down. Renting the cabin next to her puts her in close proximity to the five hot, dangerous men and she's having a hard time choosing between them.

Admittedly, there are grammatical editorial errors that pepper the book, but I DIDN'T CARE. The book was just that fun. Now I can only hope that Madelaine Montague decides to put out another book in this universe

This one didn't work so well for me. I had trouble with all the men being alphas of their own territories but apparently being willing to throw that all over and give it all up to share one woman. I think if it had been one alpha and his betas it would have worked better for me. There was little background on the characters. Okay let's call it like it is, no background. We didn't know who any of these people were or where they were coming from, what motivated them, what had shaped them. The prince who really couldn't even be considered the main guy was the only one we knew anything about and what we knew was that he was a prince and his parents didn't approve of the mating with a human.

Still it wasn't bad just not as good as this author usually is to make me ignore her typical lack of backstory. It was more apparent in this than in other books by this author though.

Kaitlyn O'Connor = Madelaine Montague = Angelique Anjou, etc., etc.

Yes, I read it again! This time the book seemed different, like maybe it had been edited and reposted. No matter, I love these five Alphas and dopey, distracted Danika Whitney.

This has turned into my GoTo comfort story if I get bored or down in the dumps. Great read as always! The author has published this under different pen names.

So...

there were just too many men.

Tooo much of the same.

And the sex? Very vanilla for supposedly being such a kinky topic (one woman, five men). The sex was also very repetitive.

The book was very repetitive. She'd have sex with one of them. They'd all fight. She'd get butt hurt because of something or another and pout.

And why did the bad guy want her? That was absolutely never made clear. Hell, you didn't even see the baddie until after the boys had shown up, so there as absolutely nothing to actually indicate that the bad guy actually wanted her. (because the bad guy wasn't the same wolf that kept nosing around her property)

Also... WOW.... she is SO old. This author bothers me that way. Anyone over 30 is SO OLD. Amazing though, we were never told how old she was. Just that she was over 30 and so SOOOOOOOO old. She couldn't possibly go with a younger man. She couldn't possibly have a child. SOoooooooOOOO old. She might as well put her self in her coffin she is THAT OLD. *eyeroll*

Wow! This book was nothing like Hunger of the Wolf. This book has five alpha male shifters being sent to a town to put a stop to the unapproved creation of rouge werewolves.

Danika happens to be on a job investigating the recent attacks of wild wolves in town. She meets up with the 5 alphas and instead of one male chasing after Daniki, five alphas find themselves competing for her affections. It was laugh out loud" funny at times because wolves settle disputes by fighting. And it gets very comical if not silly at times. I had a few LOL moments while reading this book.

One of the alpha's wants to claim Danika as his mate and doesn't try to hide it. The Prince of their species is in denial of how strong his attraction is to Danika so he keeps forbidding anyone to hit on her. Yeah, that goes over well because the other three alphas are determined to be with Danika by any means possible.

I didn't feel that there was much love, just lust in the beginning. Love and devotion did develop later in the book when it mattered most.

3-1/2 stars.

The book started out slow and really didn't pick up until a little over halfway through. For guys that are supposed to be watching out for the heroine, she was walking around those woods a lot by herself. The romance part was okay. I find the romances better with Kaitlyn O'Connor's Cyborg series more believable. (Of course, this is believing a cyborg's love versus a shapeshifter's love which is always measurable.) I've seen from other reviews that the other books in the series are better, so I'm planning on reading as many as I can get my paws (get it - paws ;D) on.

"If you see her coming, take care to tuck your ass and run!”

After I finished Wolfen I went on a mad hunt for more of Ms. Montague's books because it knocked my socks off and had me rolling on the floor laughing until I was crying.

Danika Whitney was sent by Wildlife Management to investigate reports of wolf attacks on livestock and humans in a “little out of the way hick town”. Wolves are not native to the area let alone such a large pack. Despite a good aim with a tranq gun, when she tried to embed a tracker in one of the brazen wolves that came up to her cabin, she found the tracker the next day.

Sent to take care of a werewolf problem, wolfen alphas Balin, Con, Dakota, Xavier and Jared came face to face with Danika (Dani) in town. When she finds herself surrounded by five alpha men who radiate hostility and aggression she wondered what would bring five such dominant males together. She soon finds herself in the middle of a battle between the five wolfen males who want to bed her and a whole town full of newly made werewolves.

Ms. Montague was so creative in the unique and tantalizing tale about five wolf/men who are trying to protect one woman and the humans in town from being turned into werewolves. I really enjoyed some of the original and hilarious scenes, making the story unique and a keeper. I enjoyed the tale so much that I had to stop and share on some of my online groups a few of the lines to tease my friends with as I went along. I definitely and heartily recommend this book.

I give this book a solid 4. I actually really enjoyed it. It being my first multi-partner PNR I wasn't really sure what to expect, especially since all the male characters where toted to be Alphas, leaving me to wonder how well that could actually work.

I liked that everyone was consistent in their objections and resolutions, the men were indeed pretty Alpha, so they didn't all come together in perfect harmony with rainbows and kittens, the tension remained constant and the result was a compromise that everyone could work to happiness with instead of the author forcing an unrealistically perfect outcome.

The heroine was a nice surprise as well. She wasn't TSTL, had a functioning backbone without being a total bitch and wasn't overly whiny (although I wish she had been a little less obsessed with her age) or freakishly perfect. over all I rather liked her and didn't once harbor a burning urge to smack her, so hey definitely a winner!

I look forward to read more of the books in this series.

My forays into the world of e-books is always a hit-or-miss, even with authors I'm familiar with (Joey Hill, Lora Leigh, Evangeline Anderson, D J Manly) so when I decide on an author I've never heard of AND the book is a paranormal AND I decide to buy the print format, I guess I deserve it when the heroine ends up having a litter of wolfen in her HEA with the pack of um...five wolfen heroes.

Believe it or not, I liked this book. Perhaps because I was expecting it to be really bad (I'd forgotten I placed an order until it arrived a couple of months later) so there was nowhere for it to go but up. Still, if you like werewolf romances and one heroine who gets to keep five hunky guys who all adore her to death, I think you'll like Wolfen, too.

About the litter - I kinda freaked when I read this: (Danika's doctor after her pregnancy test) "You haven't, by any chance, been taking fertility drugs?"

Bwahahahaha...evil grin...

One of my favorite books that I have read many times. Most of the books I've read by this author have a similar theme but as it's apparently a theme I like a lot, that's fine with me. I've reread all of her books more than once.

Danika is sent by Forestry Management to investigate a pack of wolves near a northwestern town where they shouldn't be and any possible threat they may present. While trying to count and tag them she runs into a subtle hostile town population. Then a “gang” of 5 leather clad motorcyclists arrive and start to put the moves on her disrupting her research. This reverse harem trope and werewolf investigation was pure fantasy. And had a lot of humor around the constantly battling group. Fun.

Five handsome Wooden and human Daniel make for a satisfying reverse harem. There's action, romance, more action and more romance. Very happy reading. This .just be my fifth or sixth time over the years.

3.5 Stars!

Danika studies large animal behavior and is sent to a small mountain town to research a reported wolf attack on a local resident. She must determine whether this is a random attack or something much more deadly going on in the town. Her work is usually her priority, but things change on this assignment when five very hot, leather-clad motorcycle riders come into town. She's immediately attracted to all of them and finds it interesting that they each seem to be very attracted to her. What she doesn't know is that they are also in town regarding the wolf attack. But when they move into the cabin next to her rental, the sparks really begin to fly! She wonders which one should she chose? Or better yet, could she perhaps have them all?

I enjoyed this book but there were things that didn't sit well with me. 1)Our heroine has a few moments where she displays her "alpha-female" temper, but too many moments where she's beyond clueless (aka, stupid, e.g. condom conversations) and her constant insecurities about age and physical appearance. 2)While I loved the Wolfen alphas (Balin is my favorite alpha!), I really missed the established "lead" Alpha. It is often implied that there is One who stands out above the rest, but it feels as if the author is trying almost too hard to maintain equal footing amongst the males. This was often a distraction for me throughout the story.

Overall, good read with a slightly different take on the standard shifter romance story. Recommended.

I kinda liked this story, but, it had some problems.

FAR TOO MUCH introspective musings by heroine and main characters. I mean, way way way too much. It went on and on and on and on and on ... I had to skip, it was boring.

Also, a real thing about age !! The story went on about it all the time. You'd think the main female character was 50 rather than thirty something.
Geez this just makes me wonder how old the author is, when I read

She should probably try to set up an appointment with a doctor, she decided. He, or she, would probably have an absolute cow about her being pregnant and over thirty, but she wasn’t that damned old!

ummm pregnant and over thirty ? What, is the author, 12 ? How can anyone who grows up today (or indeed any era), consider over 30 too old for kids ? Now 40, and maybe some of the actions portrayed might be justified, but also insulting for anyone over 40. But 30, the portrayed reactions are way over the top.

I'd like this author to meet with author Kristen Ashley who does NOT perform a song and dance over someone over 30 having a kid.

So this book took me 3 ½ months to read. I couldn’t really settle on a rating eather so I marked it 3.

The story as a whole was actually really good but there were a few holes that would have made it great if they were filled in. The author needs to take a hard look at it and fix quite a few grammar and punctuation issues. There are quite a few areas where words are in the wrong place or switched around and not in a “translated from another language” way.

There were also some quirks about the main characters that prevented me from loving them or relating to them. The heroine is in her 30s but the way she's portrayed by the author you would think she's an old crone...Since I'm in my late 30s doesn't make me look too kindly on the references she made.

While the story as a whole was engaging while I was reading it, if I needed to do something I could put the book down. If I got distracted I could walk away, which is why it took 3 ½ months to read.
